The Five Heartless Scumbag Alphas Turned Against Each Other Because Of Me - Chapter 73
Tan Hua thought Du Yunshuo was being completely unreasonable. They were both Omegas—both women. What was wrong with a little hug?
And now this domestic abuser wanted to play the loving, protective husband in front of everyone?
She immediately raised her brows and snapped, “You—you—you what?! Can’t you speak like a normal person? What do you mean I stole your woman? Watch your language.”
Your woman is great, sure—but she’s about to divorce you and shine on her own.
Tan Hua scoffed inwardly. She’d planned to throw in another jab or two, but when she caught sight of Du Yunshuo’s face turning red with fury, veins bulging at his neck like he was about to start swinging in public, she instinctively ducked behind Mu Wanyi and muttered, “You’re the one used to taking hits. You’ve got experience. You go first.”
Mu Wanyi, still basking in the glow of Tan Hua’s earlier loyalty, instantly froze: “………”
So… everything that just happened was an illusion, right? That part where Tan Hua said she’d kneel to Lu Huaixu or Sheng Yiheng just to get the best legal team in the world—she must’ve imagined that, right?
Otherwise, how was she supposed to reconcile this brave, self-sacrificing best friend with the nervous, shifty-eyed coward now hiding behind her at the first sign of trouble?
It felt like her mental image of Tan Hua had shattered with a loud, painful crack.
“You’re still denying it?!” Du Yunshuo roared, seething. The sight of his wife instinctively shielding Tan Hua from him sent his temper through the roof. He lunged forward like a madman, trying to drag Tan Hua out from behind Mu Wanyi—but Mu Wanyi blocked him on reflex.
She had always been afraid of Du Yunshuo. But now, somehow, from somewhere inside her, she found the courage to stand her ground. She stepped between him and Tan Hua without hesitation and snapped, “Du Yunshuo, this is Old Mr. Tang’s birthday banquet. You really want to cause a scene?”
She was gambling—betting that Du Yunshuo wouldn’t dare ruin his shot at securing investments tonight.
Luckily, she won that bet.
Du Yunshuo froze mid-motion. His reason, nearly scorched away by rage, was suddenly yanked back by reality. He didn’t try to attack Tan Hua again, but the look in his eyes could have burned her at the stake. “Shameless,” he hissed.
Tan Hua gave him a confused look. “I’m shameless? Look in the mirror. You’re the shameless one here.”
She put her hands on her hips. “A pathetic excuse for a man who beats women, and you’ve got the nerve to call me out?”
At her words, Du Yunshuo’s expression shifted sharply. His eyes cut straight to Mu Wanyi like knives. His face darkened, and he ground out his words through clenched teeth, “You told her?”
Mu Wanyi knew this look—too well. Beneath that twisted expression was the violence he’d worked so hard to keep buried.
But all she could feel at that moment was how ridiculous everything was.
She had endured humiliation, swallowed her pride, worked tirelessly to preserve his public image. And now, with no evidence, no confrontation, he accused her based on the worst assumptions.
She almost laughed.
Instead, she straightened her back, looked him in the eye, and said calmly, “Stop it.”
Her voice was soft. “Tomorrow, I’ll file for divorce. Before we formally end this marriage, I hope we can still preserve a little dignity for each other.”
Du Yunshuo stood frozen, stunned. At first, he thought he’d misheard. Maybe he was hallucinating. Otherwise, how could Mu Wanyi have the audacity to say something so outrageous?
Then he saw Tan Hua—completely unbothered, as if this had nothing to do with her at all—and it finally sank in. His emotions boiled over once again.
“You’re divorcing me… because of her?!”
Tan Hua, who had already been dragged into this mess repeatedly, let out a sharp laugh. “What do you mean because of me? Why are you throwing all this garbage on me? Do you even have a conscience?”
Do people really assume if you don’t fight back, you must be an idiot?
She sneered. “Do you even know what kind of man you are? Haven’t you looked in the mirror? No mirror? Then surely, you’ve pissed somewhere!”
“I’m just an Omega,” she continued, voice cold, “but if I were an Alpha like you? I’d have beaten the crap out of you by now.”
Tan Hua looked ready to go another round, but Mu Wanyi quickly grabbed her and held her back.
Seeing the two of them on the verge of a brawl, Mu Wanyi felt a headache coming on. “Enough! Please, both of you, stop it!” she said, stepping between them. “Everyone’s watching us.”
“If you really want to fight, at least find another place first.” She inhaled deeply, then declared with exasperation, “This is the Omega restroom, thank you very much.”
With that one sentence, both Tan Hua and Du Yunshuo instantly fell silent.
Du Yunshuo was frozen in place. Tan Hua, on the other hand, was trembling inside.
Seriously—if she actually got into a fight with Du Yunshuo, that man could probably send her straight to the afterlife with one punch. With that kind of strength gap, she had zero interest in getting involved.
Without hesitation, Tan Hua backed away again, slipping behind Mu Wanyi and putting a safe distance between herself and Du Yunshuo.
Now left alone under the threat of Du Yunshuo’s fists, Mu Wanyi bit her lip in frustration. …Don’t think I’ll forgive you just because you said all those touching things earlier!
Both of them had clearly chickened out. While Mu Wanyi felt somewhat relieved, a strange twinge of regret crept in. If she’d known this would happen, maybe she shouldn’t have stepped in—she kind of wanted to see if these two cowards were actually capable of throwing hands.
Annoyed, she glanced at Tan Hua, who was really starting to get on her nerves. She turned her attention back to Du Yunshuo and said sharply, “If you don’t have any more objections, go home and start preparing the divorce papers.”
“When you’re ready, I’ll sign.”
“You can’t phrase it like that,” Tan Hua suddenly whispered in her ear. “If you say it that way, of course he’s going to dig his heels in and refuse to divorce you.”
“And what’s this about him preparing the papers? Forget that—let’s go straight to the most badass legal team on the planet and take him down.”
Mu Wanyi looked at her like she didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. Tan Hua straightened her back with confidence. “You’re the victim here. You need to be assertive, understand? Otherwise, he’ll keep treating you like a pushover.”
“I don’t agree,” Du Yunshuo snapped, having come back to his senses. His dark gaze fixed on the two women whispering to each other, his fury simmering. “Divorce? Don’t even think about it.”
“Mu Wanyi, you’ve been permanently marked by me,” he sneered. “Even if we divorce, how could you possibly survive on your own?”
Tan Hua gave Mu Wanyi a knowing look that screamed “Told you so,” while Mu Wanyi, realizing her earlier phrasing had backfired, looked down guiltily and wrung her hands, silently begging Tan Hua for help—What now?
“Watch me.” Tan Hua patted her on the shoulder reassuringly, then turned to Du Yunshuo with a sweet smile. “That’s not a problem. She can just go to some shady clinic and get her gland removed.”
“Quick and clean. She won’t have to worry about another heat cycle ever again.”
Mu Wanyi: “!!!” Are you trying to kill me?!
She’d met plenty of saints in her life, but this was the first time she’d met a smiling executioner. Her eyes widened in disbelief as she glared at Tan Hua. Do you even have a conscience? You’d better explain yourself!
“It’s fine, don’t be scared.” Tan Hua patted the back of her hand gently, speaking in the kindest, most soothing tone imaginable… while saying the most terrifying thing: “I’ll go with you.”
“Maybe we can even get a two-for-one deal.”
Mu Wanyi’s eye twitched violently. “…” Unbelievable.
You’re such a cunning little gremlin.
The two Omegas were so immersed in their dramatic little back-and-forth that they completely disregarded Du Yunshuo’s existence. On the verge of exploding, the Alpha’s pheromones began to leak uncontrollably.
Mu Wanyi instinctively tensed up. Alarmed, Tan Hua quickly shouted, “Tang Yanrou!”
Du Yunshuo stiffened immediately. His head whipped around, eyes scanning frantically—but there was no sign of Tang Yanrou. Still, this was Old Mr. Tang’s banquet, and he did have something to gain here…
After a brief internal calculation, Du Yunshuo gave up the idea of retaliating on the spot.
There’s always next time. His lips curled into a tight, insincere smile as he looked at Mu Wanyi. His tone was gentle—too gentle—making her skin crawl.
“Mu Wanyi, I know you’re just having a little tantrum right now because you want me to coax you, right?”
“So I’ll give you some time to calm down. Once you’ve thought it through, come find me—and we’ll go home together, okay?”
That cold, threatening undertone chilled Mu Wanyi to the bone. She nearly nodded reflexively, ready to cave—until Tan Hua pinched her hard at the waist.
The pain made her flinch so hard her expression twisted. “No.”
Snapping back to her senses, Mu Wanyi shook her head and took a deep breath. “You can go home by yourself.”
“And you?” Du Yunshuo asked icily.
“Me?” Mu Wanyi hesitated for a second, unsure of what to say. But when she saw the eager I’ve-got-a-cover-story-ready expression on Tan Hua’s face, she quickly followed her lead. “I’ll be staying with Tan Hua for a couple of days.”
“She’s sick. She needs someone to take care of her.”
Du Yunshuo’s face darkened. “Is she really sick, or are you just using that as an excuse to crawl into her bed and betray me?”
What the hell? Mu Wanyi stared at him like he’d lost his mind. “Nothing’s going on between us! Don’t project your twisted little fantasies onto us!”
She jabbed a finger at Tan Hua. “Do I look like I’d be into her?”
Tan Hua: “?” Excuse me? That’s just uncalled for!
Du Yunshuo might not have believed her, but Mu Wanyi was done explaining. She forcefully grabbed Tan Hua and dragged her away, throwing back a line that sounded tough—but lacked conviction:
“Du Yunshuo, whether you agree or not, I’m getting this divorce!”
Then, terrified he might lose control and lash out, she quickly pulled Tan Hua away from the scene of chaos.
It wasn’t until they’d walked a good distance that Mu Wanyi finally collapsed onto a bench like a survivor of disaster. She raised a shaky hand to wipe away the cold sweat on her forehead, her entire body still tense with anxiety. For a moment, it all felt so surreal—like she’d just stepped out of a different lifetime.
Barely in her twenties, and she was already getting divorced?
Mu Wanyi suddenly felt lost. What comes after this? What am I supposed to do? She was just a permanently marked Omega—nothing more.
No connections. No background…
“Weren’t you working with Zheng Jinyu recently?” Tan Hua’s voice suddenly cut through her spiral of thought. “How’s that going?”
She adjusted her skirt and sat down beside Mu Wanyi, a bit out of breath.
“It’s… going fine,” Mu Wanyi replied mechanically. “President Zheng has been great. Since it’s my first time working on a project like this, she made sure to guide me personally and gave me extra reminders about the important details.”
Tan Hua raised an eyebrow. Perfect—there’s my next excuse to stir up trouble.
“Well, that’s good.” Tan Hua stretched her arms across the back of the bench and sighed. “You’re beautiful, single, child-free, and have money. Honestly, that’s the dream life for a lot of Omegas.”
Mu Wanyi hesitated, then slowly nodded.
It was true. When they were little, the girls had always envied those glamorous rich wives—beautiful, wealthy, pampered in every way, and with absent husbands constantly transferring money back home. And now she had that life. She should be happy.
The only way she’d ever imagined becoming rich was by marrying someone wealthy and climbing the social ladder that way. Now that she already had the wealth… maybe the husband was no longer necessary.
The realization hit her all at once—and she laughed through tears, only calming down after a long moment.
She suddenly felt much closer to Tan Hua. And at the same time, she realized something very clearly: only Tan Hua truly cared about her, truly looked out for her. With that, she pressed her lips together and said seriously:
“Cheng Yuan has a very close childhood friend.”
“They basically grew up together—thick as thieves since they were little. Practically shared the same pair of underwear. Their bond is rock solid,” she said, watching Tan Hua’s puzzled expression. “So chances are high she’ll stand up for Cheng Yuan eventually. You should be careful.”
“Oh, and I think she’s here today too.” Mu Wanyi glanced around, then pointed. “That Omega in the white cocktail dress. Her name’s Ning Xi.”
“Ning Xi and Cheng Yuan are childhood friends, and her family background is just as strong. But Ning Xi is a lot more aggressive and sharp-tongued. You should be mentally prepared.”
Tan Hua followed the direction of her finger. The girl was tall and slender, with model-like features. Even though she was an Omega, her aura was strong—clearly not someone easy to deal with.
Tan Hua raised an eyebrow. “Why didn’t you tell me about her earlier?”
Mu Wanyi looked guilty for a moment, then boldly lied, “I forgot. It slipped my mind.” Then she quickly added, “I hadn’t seen her lately, and honestly, it’s not like I go around thinking about her all the time.”
But under Tan Hua’s piercing, meaningful gaze, Mu Wanyi quietly turned her head away.
Fine. She admitted it—she hadn’t told Tan Hua on purpose.
Back then, she’d been dying to see Tan Hua suffer, ready to gloat from the sidelines and maybe even add a kick while she was down. Why on earth would she have shared such important intel?
It’s not like she was stupid.
But things were different now. Her relationship with Tan Hua had changed, and she no longer saw the point in setting her up for embarrassment.
Otherwise, if Ning Xi really did come after Tan Hua, and Tan Hua eventually realized she’d known all along and kept it secret… wouldn’t she throw a massive tantrum? Cry, scream, beg for answers—and drive Mu Wanyi completely insane in the process?
Given the situation, Mu Wanyi figured she might as well lean into her new role as a warm, loyal, and supportive bestie.
Her guilty conscience was painfully obvious, but Tan Hua couldn’t be bothered to hold it against her. She was already more than satisfied with the valuable intel she’d received. Still, she couldn’t help but sigh, “It really does pay to stay on good terms with the locals.”
Smiling sweetly, she looked off into the distance at Ning Xi. “Otherwise, I wouldn’t have known the female lead had such a charming little companion.”
But just as she finished speaking, Ning Xi seemed to sense her gaze and turned to look—her sharp eyes almost slicing Mu Wanyi in half in the process.
Mu Wanyi visibly shivered. “…Such a fierce Omega,” she muttered under her breath.
Then she turned back to Tan Hua with concern—only to see the girl’s lips curl up with genuine interest. “Spicy. Fiery. I like her.”
Mu Wanyi: “…” You are so shameless.
At least wipe off that smudged lipstick before trying to flirt again.
Unable to watch any longer, Mu Wanyi—accepting her own part in creating this chaotic mess—took out a disposable makeup wipe and a compact cushion. “Hold still. Let me fix you up.”
Without giving Tan Hua a chance to respond, she tore open the packet and started wiping her face.
Tan Hua didn’t resist, letting her fuss over her. Once Mu Wanyi held up the compact mirror, she gave herself a quick once-over. Perfect. Flawless. She could probably reel in ten women tonight, easy.
After redeeming herself for the sins of her past, Mu Wanyi lowered her head and stuffed all the messy little beauty tools back into her bag. But when she looked up, she nearly jumped out of her skin at the sight of a tall figure standing right in front of them.
Ning Xi?! Her eyes widened in panic. She turned to Tan Hua, Why didn’t you give me a heads-up?!
Tan Hua, on the other hand, looked unfazed. Ning Xi was tall—and with Tan Hua sitting down, she had to tilt her neck way back just to meet her eyes. Her neck was practically cramping.
“Miss Ning,” she said first, her voice light and calm, lips curled into a polite smile. “Is there something I can help you with?”
Ning Xi examined her in silence. Maybe it was the height difference—or the downward angle of her gaze—but Tan Hua looked very small to her. Like a young fox, freshly grown and still snow-white. Harmless. Gentle.
But Ning Xi, who knew how close she was to Cheng Yuan and had already heard a variety of rumors about Tan Hua from mutual acquaintances, felt nothing but disgust at this fragile and innocent act.
So pure. So delicate. So angelic. And yet beneath that face, she was just another manipulative seductress who used her beauty to charm people.
Ning Xi let out a cold laugh and said mockingly, “Can’t I talk to you without a reason?” She leaned in closer, phoenix eyes brimming with feigned affection. “Aren’t you into stringing people along?”
“You’re different,” Tan Hua replied, completely unfazed by the sarcasm. She even crossed one leg over the other, utterly relaxed.
Ning Xi narrowed her eyes. “How am I different? What—am I not good enough for you?”
“That’s not it.” Tan Hua shook her head, then answered very seriously, “You’re Miss Cheng Yuan’s dear friend.”
Her gaze was clear and open, her eyes free of deceit. “That’s why I can’t do it. I wouldn’t want to come between you two.”
What “come between,” what utter nonsense. Ning Xi sneered. As if she and Yuan Yuan would ever fall out over some irrelevant Omega.
She was about to lash out—
—but just as she opened her mouth, a stray thought flashed through her mind. Out of nowhere, her brain made a connection: Wasn’t Cheng Yuan supposed to be on a three-month global graduation trip? Why did she suddenly rush back to China?
Everything back home was fine. There was nothing urgent, nothing that should’ve required her presence.
Her gaze drifted back to Tan Hua.
It only took a second—maybe less—for a wild, almost absurd idea to form in her mind: Could it be… because of Tan Hua?
When the hell did Yuan Yuan and this vixen get close behind my back?!
Weren’t they supposed to be rivals?
Didn’t Tan Hua already flirt with all of her high-quality suitors while I was gone?!
Ning Xi’s expression twisted with realization, eyes fixed on the unbothered Omega in front of her. Finally, she snapped, voice biting cold:
“How did you seduce Yuan Yuan so completely? What did you do to make her drop a trip she spent years planning, just to rush home and comfort you in person?”
Tan Hua had been prepared for Ning Xi to throw a drink in her face or slap her like some cliché soap opera villain—but instead, she was hit with this bizarre accusation.
A row of question marks popped up in her mind: “……??”
How did I seduce Cheng Yuan?
…By seducing all her scumbag Alpha admirers until she got so jealous she snapped?
Tan Hua: That’s honestly the only explanation I can think of.
Mu Wanyi: Is it me who’s gone crazy—or is it all of you?
