The Five Heartless Scumbag Alphas Turned Against Each Other Because Of Me - Chapter 66
Tan Hua was convinced Sheng Yiheng hadn’t sobered up yet.
Zheng Jinyu, on the other hand, was certain Sheng Yiheng was deliberately stirring up trouble.
One of them quickly pushed her own bird’s nest soup forward and said, “President Sheng, why don’t you take mine? I really think you need the nourishment more than I do.”
The other was fuming, glaring at Sheng Yiheng with fire in her eyes. She reached out to stop Tan Hua’s attempt at playing peacemaker, preventing her from giving away the carefully prepared bird’s nest soup she had made especially for her.
“You’re really insisting on drinking this today?”
The three of them were stuck in an awkward standoff at the breakfast table. Tan Hua had no idea how to proceed. She could only keep her arm outstretched between them, silently trying to stay neutral.
Sheng Yiheng raised a brow, watching Zheng Jinyu struggle to keep her fury in check. Suddenly, she smiled out of nowhere.
“Not necessarily,” she said lightly, tilting her head. “I just can’t stand the way you’re constantly fawning over Hua Hua.”
As she spoke, she pulled out a hydrangea from who-knows-where and offered it to Tan Hua. “For you.”
“?” Tan Hua was stunned. She asked instinctively, “Where’d you get that? It’s… pretty fresh.”
Had she arranged to have it delivered this morning? That’d be a bit pathetic, though—just a single lonely flower?
“Where do you think she got it?” Zheng Jinyu gritted her teeth and took several deep breaths before barely calming herself. “Obviously, she plucked it from my house.”
She was on the verge of losing her temper. “Aunt Zhang just replaced the flowers this morning. Of course it’s fresh.”
Tan Hua’s eye twitched. “…”
How shameless.
Sheng Yiheng didn’t deny it. Instead, she shamelessly said, “What’s the difference? You replace the flowers so diligently just for Hua Hua to enjoy, don’t you? I picked the prettiest one and gave it to her directly. Isn’t that the same?”
“At least, she seemed really happy with the surprise just now.”
Tan Hua silently distanced herself in her heart: I was not happy, thank you very much. I’m just shocked beyond reason.
You are truly something else.
Zheng Jinyu was momentarily speechless. She couldn’t think of anything to refute Sheng Yiheng with. In the end, she simply shot her a fierce glare and gave up trying to argue.
Sheng Yiheng didn’t mind in the slightest. She leaned closer toward Tan Hua, all smiles and good cheer, trying to win her over.
This was hands down the most frustrating morning Zheng Jinyu had ever experienced. Her normally calm mood was being stirred up again and again by Sheng Yiheng’s antics, leaving her completely on edge.
And yet, Tan Hua and Sheng Yiheng were technically colleagues—boss and subordinate. They would be heading to work together after this, spending at least eight hours, likely more, in the same office.
Meanwhile, once breakfast ended, she’d have no choice but to part ways with Tan Hua and go about her own day.
At that moment, Zheng Jinyu found herself desperately wishing Tan Hua would resign—quit her job, jump ship, whatever it took.
She should’ve been firmer before.
Back when Tan Hua was leaving Yan Yan, and had offered to come help her, she should have agreed right away.
If she’d said yes then, would Sheng Yiheng even have a place here now?
Would she still be so full of herself?
One wrong step had led to more, and now Zheng Jinyu was practically sick with regret. But was there a way to fix it?
No—
Unless… she could offer Tan Hua something better than whatever salary Sheng Yiheng was paying her.
Her chest tightened violently, her heartbeat thudding uncontrollably. The look she gave Tan Hua was almost scorching.
Tan Hua misunderstood. She thought Zheng Jinyu was upset that she’d tried to give away the bird’s nest soup she’d painstakingly prepared. She flinched on the spot, quickly pulled the white porcelain bowl back toward herself.
“I’ll just drink it myself,” she said.
Then, turning to Sheng Yiheng, she bluffed, “President Sheng, you look radiant already. You don’t need any more supplements.”
Fearing Zheng Jinyu might still be skeptical, she promptly took several big sips to prove her loyalty.
Sheng Yiheng, who had just had the bird’s nest soup practically handed to her, could only watch as it was taken back. She pursed her lips. “…”
Fine, whatever. It’s not like she really wanted to compete with an Omega for food.
She had only wanted to irritate Zheng Jinyu.
New grudges and old wounds—finally, she had at least slightly avenged them. Sheng Yiheng was in an excellent mood. She sipped on the seafood porridge made by Zheng Jinyu herself, feeling like she’d struck gold. To think one day she’d be served by her romantic rival?
Delightful.
Having successfully maxed out Zheng Jinyu’s hatred meter, Sheng Yiheng smiled sweetly and offered her thanks.
“Thanks for the hospitality, President Zheng. I’ll treat you next time.”
Her words were sincere, her tone genuine.
Zheng Jinyu, however, treated it like a fart. “No need,” she replied coldly.
But when she turned back to Tan Hua, her entire demeanor softened—like spring after winter.
“Don’t overwork yourself today. Make sure to rest when you can, alright?” Her voice was gentle and caring.
“Work can be done anytime, changed anytime… but your health is the hardest thing to hold on to.”
“Don’t wear yourself out over trivial things,” Zheng Jinyu said pointedly.
There was a deeper meaning in her words.
Tan Hua considered for a moment, then decided to play dumb.
“Alright,” she replied with a light smile. “We’re off to work, see you later.”
“Mhm.” Zheng Jinyu gave a small nod, her gaze full of reluctance as she watched Tan Hua turn and walk away.
But the moment her eyes landed on Sheng Yiheng’s carefree and swaggering back, the warmth in her gaze vanished completely, as though it had never existed. In its place was a cold, impenetrable frost.
Sheng Yiheng’s driver was already waiting in the estate’s garage.
Tan Hua and Sheng Yiheng got into the backseat, sitting on either side of the car. As the vehicle slowly pulled away, Tan Hua casually scrolled through news on her phone, barely sparing Sheng Yiheng a glance.
But Sheng Yiheng was growing increasingly uncomfortable—like sitting on needles. Her back prickled with unease.
Something just felt… wrong. Off.
Especially after she had gone out of her way to forget—no, to erase—the events of last night. Yet the more she tried to suppress it, the clearer the memories became. The images and words from that night came crashing down like tidal waves.
Even now, she could almost hear her own voice in her ears—clingy, gross, enough to make her skin crawl. She curled her toes in shame.
Trying to act casual, Sheng Yiheng lifted her hand to her mouth and turned her head to look out the window.
As long as no one brought it up, it should be fine… right?
Most importantly, judging by Tan Hua’s current expression, she didn’t seem like she was planning to confront her about last night.
That thought brought a sliver of relief.
Whether Tan Hua had genuinely forgotten or was pretending to forget, as long as the matter was left unspoken, everything else could be smoothed over. Sheng Yiheng figured she could manage to stay calm—barely.
But as the saying goes: what you fear, you invite.
Suddenly, the Omega beside her turned and fixed her with an intense stare. Her voice was expressionless as she asked,
“President Sheng, what exactly did you mean by the things you said last night?”
Sheng Yiheng’s heart instantly sank. Her mind raced.
“Huh?” she feigned confusion.
“You weren’t drunk last night, right?” Tan Hua’s lips curved slightly in a delicate smile. “So you should remember very clearly what you said.”
“But,” she added, like a devil whispering in your ear, “even if you don’t remember, it’s okay.”
She slowly raised her voice recorder. “I recorded it.”
Sheng Yiheng’s scalp tingled. Her heart skipped a beat.
She stared at Tan Hua in disbelief.
“When?”
Wait—she’d planned this ahead of time? She’d actually been prepared to record her embarrassing slip-ups?
Sheng Yiheng felt herself unravel.
“During work,” Tan Hua replied calmly, lifting the recorder in her hand. “I forgot to turn it off after we clocked out.”
Sheng Yiheng wasn’t sure whether Tan Hua always carried a recorder in some attempt to catch company secrets, but her mind was too fried to care. All she could think was:
I’m screwed.
“It didn’t mean anything,” Sheng Yiheng said at last, forcing herself to stay composed. “I probably just had too much to drink and started talking nonsense.”
“Really?” Tan Hua clearly wasn’t buying it.
That faint smile on her pale face made Sheng Yiheng’s heart lurch. She was nervous—so much so she could barely sit still.
“You’re not going to say you mistook me for Cheng Yuan and that’s why you said all those things… are you?”
Sheng Yiheng’s eyes lit up.
That’s a great excuse! Why didn’t I think of that earlier?!
Just as Sheng Yiheng was about to go along with Tan Hua’s suggestion and use it as an excuse, the Omega’s calm, clear voice mercilessly shattered her fantasy.
“But, President Sheng, before you confessed, in order to make sure I didn’t misunderstand…”
Tan Hua deliberately paused before continuing,
“You specifically called me by name. Did you forget that too?”
Sheng Yiheng was momentarily speechless. Her mind was in chaos.
She wanted to admit it but didn’t dare to.
She wanted to deny it but was afraid Tan Hua would overthink.
Caught in this web of hesitation, she couldn’t bring herself to say a word.
Tan Hua couldn’t help but scoff inwardly.
So much for being intimidating. In the end, you’re just a paper tiger.
The system, however, disagreed.
“She’s never dated anyone despite her age. Being a little awkward and repressed is perfectly normal,” it reasoned.
Not everyone is like you—rowing without oars, relying entirely on the waves.
“Normal,” Tan Hua murmured, lips curved into a soft smile.
“A pure-hearted CEO who’s never been in love? I like that even more.”
System: “…!”
Crap. That might’ve been too revealing.
It cast a few guilty glances toward Sheng Yiheng.
You’re great. You’ve got this. I believe in you—you can definitely handle the host.
And with that, the system bailed, leaving Sheng Yiheng staring helplessly out the car window, tangled up in inner turmoil.
Sheng Yiheng remained silent.
But Tan Hua was already running out of patience.
She slowly leaned toward Sheng Yiheng, triggering every nerve in the woman’s body. Muscles tensed instantly, like a coiled spring.
Sheng Yiheng instinctively tried to lean away, wanting to put some distance between them—but she was already pressed tightly against the car door. There was nowhere else to go.
She could only sit there and endure Tan Hua’s slow, deliberate approach, breathing in air laced with the Omega’s faint scent.
No—this wasn’t fresh air.
Because she reflexively held her breath, Sheng Yiheng once again felt like she was suffocating.
“President Sheng.” Tan Hua tilted her head slightly, looking at her with quiet curiosity.
“What’s so hard to admit?”
“Is liking me something to be ashamed of?”
Her voice suddenly softened, tinged with sadness.
“Or… in your heart, do you still believe that an Omega like me—lowly and insignificant—doesn’t deserve you? That liking someone like me… is disgraceful?”
“No, it’s not like that.” Sheng Yiheng blurted out before she could even finish, her voice urgent.
“That’s not what I meant at all.”
Tan Hua looked up, her eyes still filled with hurt.
Sheng Yiheng licked her dry lips, forcing herself to look away.
“I didn’t mean it like that. Don’t overthink.”
Her heart was pounding wildly, her blood rushing like a boiling current through her veins.
That same burning heat from before surged up again, making her feel as though she might melt on the spot. Desperate for relief, she rolled down the car window slightly, letting the cold wind and heavy raindrops rush in, splattering her immaculate pants.
Tan Hua’s face twitched involuntarily.
You’re really opening the window in this downpour? What—are your clothes too dry for your liking?
She slowly lowered her eyes, then quietly retreated to the far side of the backseat without saying another word—pretending to be disappointed.
She stopped pressing Sheng Yiheng, instead resting her chin in her palm and gazing silently out the rain-streaked window, lost in thought.
Looking at her drooping posture, so clearly downcast, Sheng Yiheng was completely unsettled. She wanted to explain but couldn’t find the words. Her mouth simply wouldn’t cooperate.
So the two of them sat in silence all the way to Shengyuan Group.
Unlike before, Tan Hua didn’t banter or tease her. As soon as the elevator reached their floor, she went straight to her office without a glance back.
Anyone with eyes could tell they’d had a falling out.
The secretarial office instantly lit up with gossip.
“What happened? Did Secretary Tan upset President Sheng?”
“Probably. Who knows?” someone else replied disinterestedly.
“President Sheng looks like she’s in a terrible mood today. You all better be careful with your work—don’t give her a reason to snap,” one of the older secretaries warned.
“Otherwise, you might end up like the last group of girls who packed their things and got kicked out.”
“…Got it.”
Sheng Yiheng was indeed in a foul mood today.
And it only got worse when she realized Tan Hua remained cold and distant for the rest of the day—barely speaking to her at all.
Just as she was reaching her limit, her phone rang. It was Tang Yanrou. Sheng Yiheng had to put everything else on hold and answered the call.
“Miss Tang.”
“We can cooperate,” Tang Yanrou said directly, her tone crisp and decisive.
“But I have one condition.”
Sheng Yiheng instinctively asked, “What condition?”
“I want Miss Tan to be the point of contact from your company,” Tang Yanrou said with a soft chuckle in her voice. Her tone was gentle, easygoing even—but beneath that was a subtle, undeniable dominance.
“If you can make that happen, we can sign the contract at any time.”
“Why does it have to be Tan Hua?” Sheng Yiheng blurted out before she could stop herself—
—and immediately regretted it.
“Why else could it be?” Tang Yanrou thought to herself. “He’s obviously trying to pursue Tan Hua, to please her.”
But to be fair, Tang Yanrou had to admit that, upon honest reflection, Tan Hua truly was capable enough to handle such a task.
So Sheng Yiheng, whether out of fairness or personal motives, agreed to Tang Yanrou’s request. “Alright.”
She added, “I’ll make some adjustments to her position. From now on, she’ll be fully in charge of our joint project.”
Tang Yanrou let out a quiet sigh of relief, a smile playing in her voice. “Then here’s to a successful collaboration.”
To Tang Yanrou, it didn’t really matter who she partnered with in business—as long as the venture was profitable, whether the gain was great or small. As long as the project ran smoothly, she wouldn’t fuss. But Tan Hua was different.
She had no power, no backing, and no influential connections to pull strings for her. Even if she did, no one would easily lend a hand.
And the more favors one accepted from the wealthy, the greater the price one had to pay in return.
But Tang Yanrou was not the same. She simply didn’t want to see Tan Hua live such a hard life anymore.
Tan Hua was talented and hardworking. She deserved recognition, to be seen and understood by the world.
She deserved to stand on a higher platform where her abilities could be plainly seen by all.
So Tang Yanrou didn’t mind lending her a helping hand—because to her, it was a small and effortless gesture.
Something that took barely any effort on her part might very well change the entire course of Tan Hua’s life as an Omega.
And Tang Yanrou was already looking forward to seeing the wild lily stand strong through the storm, blooming brilliantly and proudly beneath the rainbow and sunlight that followed.
“To a pleasant collaboration,” Sheng Yiheng echoed. Her mood had lightened somewhat.
After ending the call with Tang Yanrou, Sheng Yiheng gave the matter some brief thought before summoning HR.
In less than half an hour, news of Tan Hua’s new appointment as Manager at Shengyuan had been circulated throughout the company.
Rumors had long been swirling within the company about the unusual relationship between Tan Hua and Sheng Yiheng. And today’s announcement seemed to confirm many of those whispered suspicions.
For a time, the office buzzed with gossip and speculation.
Shengyuan wasn’t some small company—it held a solid reputation and standing in the industry. In recent years, it had collaborated with several major corporations.
So under the deliberate efforts of those paying attention, the news quickly spread across the industry.
Tan Hua had officially risen to fame. Even those high-level executives who had never heard of her before suddenly took notice.
After all, for someone to be romantically linked with Sheng Yiheng—a man known for his clean reputation and disinterest in women— she must have something going for her.
What remained to be seen, however, was whether her strengths lay in her career… or in pleasing Sheng Yiheng.
Meanwhile, Tan Hua stared blankly at the email on her computer screen, bewildered.
“What does Sheng Yiheng mean by this?” she asked, eyes wide with disbelief. “She wants me to do more work for the same pay?”
Before she could finish venting, HR knocked on her office door and entered with a gentle smile.
“President Sheng asked me to come discuss your salary.”
Huh?
“Oh! Please, come in and have a seat!” Tan Hua sprang up like a spring-loaded fish, quickly offering water and snacks with a flattering smile.
“Such a tiring job—you shouldn’t have to make the trip yourself.”
“You could’ve just messaged me. I’d have come to your office instead!”
The HR manager chuckled, amused. She shrugged. “It’s no trouble. I just came from President Sheng’s office anyway—it’s on the way.”
After a bit of small talk, she casually revealed the reason behind Tan Hua’s promotion and salary adjustment.
“Congratulations, Manager Tan.”
“From now on, you’ll be solely in charge of the project,” she said with a smile. “If you run into anything unfamiliar, feel free to ask General Manager Xiao.”
She raised a hand to her mouth, feigning secrecy.
“She’s my older sister.”
Tan Hua’s eyes widened instantly. “Really?”
She leaned in with interest. “So, is our General Manager in a relationship? Does she have a girlfriend?”
The HR manager chuckled. “She’s already married—with two kids.”
Tan Hua immediately covered her face with a tearful expression. “That’s such a shame.”
Back to business. The new compensation package Sheng Yiheng offered left Tan Hua with no reason to refuse.
After a brief moment of thought, she agreed. After all, she had to work one way or another, and since Sheng Yiheng still showed a shred of decency, she decided to accept—grudgingly.
However, after finishing the tasks related to Sheng Yiheng, Tan Hua technically had no reason to stick around.
But at the moment, she hadn’t thought of a better place to go, so she decided to stay for the time being.
After all, who could resist a cold, seductive, snake-like beauty wrapped in the shell of a domineering CEO—especially one with that alluring femme fatale energy?
After settling the salary details, HR left. Tan Hua sat alone in the office, deep in thought, when someone came by to inform her of her new office location.
Tan Hua peeked out, only to fall silent. “…”
Was there even a difference?
She had merely been moved from Sheng Yiheng’s left side… to her right side.
And, in fact, the distance between them had now been significantly shortened.
“Is Sheng Yiheng planning to play some kind of canary-in-a-gilded-cage imprisonment fantasy?” Tan Hua muttered to herself.
The system’s eye twitched violently as it listened. It wanted to say something but ultimately held back and quietly retreated.
Tan Hua didn’t move to the new office right away, even though she didn’t have much stuff.
Since her duties had just been reshuffled, her schedule wasn’t packed either.
So when the end of the workday arrived—and Sheng Yiheng was still buried in tasks, too busy to notice her—Tan Hua bolted out of the office like lightning.
She left Sheng Yiheng alone, standing there with a kind of helplessness one might feel while a eunuch strolls past a brothel, watching the elevator doors slowly close.
Tan Hua headed straight for the bar. By the time she arrived, the crowd inside had already begun to grow.
She glanced around, then headed directly to her private room.
Just as she swiped her keycard to open the door, she felt a powerful and oppressive presence suddenly approach from behind.
She was about to scream—when she realized the sneaky figure was actually Lu Huaixu.
Her scream got awkwardly stuck in her throat: “…”
“What are you doing here?” Tan Hua patted her chest, still rattled. She glared up at the tall Alpha, annoyed.
“And why do you walk so silently? Don’t you know sneaking up on people like that could scare someone to death?”
She kept grumbling nonstop until Lu Huaixu, seemingly growing impatient, cut her off:
“Aren’t you going to invite me in?”
Tan Hua’s voice came to an abrupt halt. She forced a bright smile. “Please, come in.”
Lu Huaixu didn’t look any different from the past few days, but Tan Hua had a feeling that she wasn’t here for anything good today.
She handed her a bottle of water, which Lu Huaixu didn’t take.
The woman lifted her cool, indifferent gaze. At that moment, her features looked especially sharp and cold.
“What’s going on between you and Sheng Yiheng?”
“What do you mean, what’s going on?” Tan Hua looked confused.
“Are you talking about how she got drunk and confessed to me last night—?”
“I’m talking about how the rumors about you and her are spreading like wildfire across the entire city—!”
Both women spoke at once, then fell silent in perfect sync.
Tan Hua: “?!”
“Rumors? Between me and Sheng Yiheng? What rumors?” she was completely baffled.
“And they’re spreading like wildfire?”
She genuinely looked clueless, which made Lu Huaixu pinch the bridge of her nose in frustration. She raised her hand to stop Tan Hua from talking.
“Wait,” she said, taking a deep breath and closing her eyes for a second.
“You just said… last night, you and Sheng Yiheng drank together, she got drunk, and then confessed to you?”
Crap. She’d exposed herself without even realizing it.
Tan Hua laughed nervously, then casually dropped another bomb on Lu Huaixu:
“Actually, it wasn’t me drinking with Sheng Yiheng. It was Zheng Jinyu—President Zheng—who drank with her.”
“I was just sitting nearby watching. I didn’t touch a drop, I swear.”
Lu Huaixu: “?”
Wait a second—“Your ex-wife… was there too?”
President Lu (internally): In order to make me fall for her, she’s really pulling out all the stops.
I’m impressed. I give in. (x)
