The Five Heartless Scumbag Alphas Turned Against Each Other Because Of Me - Chapter 63
Tan Hua burst into a gleeful, schadenfreude-filled laugh—until Zheng Jinyu noticed and turned her head.
Tan Hua immediately stifled her smirk, straightened her expression, and looked solemnly at Sheng Yiheng. “Welcome, President Sheng,” she said, then praised the auntie’s cooking. “You’re in for a treat.”
Then, her tone shifted subtly as she redirected the compliment toward Zheng Jinyu. “But compared to President Zheng’s culinary skills, the auntie still falls a bit short.”
Zheng Jinyu’s cooking was undeniably more delicious than the auntie’s.
“Really?” Sheng Yiheng raised her eyebrows in surprise and followed Tan Hua’s gaze to Zheng Jinyu. After receiving Tan Hua’s affirmation, the gloomy expression on Zheng Jinyu’s face visibly lightened. Sheng Yiheng blinked slowly, and something in her expression tightened with competitiveness. “I wonder if I’ll have the honor of tasting one of President Zheng’s dishes today.”
Zheng Jinyu’s briefly softened expression darkened ever so slightly again.
She tilted her chin and held Zheng Jinyu’s gaze for a moment, then abruptly curled her lips into a smile that didn’t quite reach her eyes. “I’m afraid today’s not a good time.” She smiled faintly and gave no further explanation, only brushing it off casually. “Maybe another day…”
“Alright.” Sheng Yiheng, always adept at following a lead, immediately replied, “Then I suppose I’ll just have to trouble President Zheng again another day.”
Upon hearing this, Zheng Jinyu flicked her eyelids up to glance at the Alpha, her eyes full of disdain—
Why won’t you just go away?
Seeing Zheng Jinyu looking like she had just suffered a blow, cold air radiating from her body as if it were free, even her features slightly frosted with chill, Sheng Yiheng seemed completely unfazed—as though she had just returned triumphant from battle, proud and victorious.
Tan Hua watched eagerly from the side. “Yes, that’s it! Fight, fight!”
Clutching her fingers in excitement, she whispered longingly, “I really hope the female lead comes back soon… When she does, it’ll be all storms and bloodshed. Just watching a group of aloof, elegant, icy-cool top-tier Alphas tearing each other apart over nonsense would be thrilling!”
The system wanted so badly to give her a knock on the head. But after realizing that wasn’t possible, it asked weakly, “Host, why are you so sure you won’t be at the center of that storm?”
“You really think you can escape it?”
“Why wouldn’t I?” Tan Hua crossed her arms, full of confidence. “When the female lead returns, I’ll just slip away—head straight to that island I just bought. I’ll wait it out until they’re done fighting—”
“—And then come back to reap the spoils?” The system sneered, mercilessly mocking her. “You think leaving is your choice? The female lead might not even let you leave.”
“After all, she came back for you. She was on a perfectly good gap year, and suddenly came rushing back to endure hardship and chaos. You think she did that for fun?”
Tan Hua fell silent. That… was a good point.
The female lead had rushed back because she believed Tan Hua’s presence was a threat to her interests—her “fishpond” and everything in it.
So… was buying that island even worth it?
Tan Hua dazedly stared at the two women locked in a subtly tense standoff. Her energy suddenly drained like air from a punctured balloon. She weakly waved her hand. “Stop arguing, stop arguing… Just get in the car.”
Only then did the two women break their intense gaze, asking in near unison, “Are you hungry?”
“No.” Tan Hua shook her head, then nodded, her conflicted gestures and unwillingness to speak finally quelling the two Alphas’ urge to compete further.
The three of them walked together toward the parking lot. Tan Hua instinctively moved toward the front passenger seat, but Sheng Yiheng’s heated stare froze her in place.
“What do you think you’re doing?”
Tan Hua blinked in confusion. “Huh?” Doing what?
“You’re going to make me sit in the back alone?” Sheng Yiheng said unreasonably, her tone almost whining. “It’s so dark back there. I’ll be scared sitting by myself.”
Tan Hua: “…” Seriously? Acting all delicate now? I’ve seen you sit there just fine before.
She fought the urge to roll her eyes and instead opened the rear door, silently sliding into the backseat.
Just as Sheng Yiheng was about to follow her in, Zheng Jinyu stopped her politely. “President Sheng, why don’t you sit in the front? We can discuss some work matters.”
Taking “work” as an excuse, even if Sheng Yiheng wanted to refuse, she couldn’t.
“…Fine.” She sighed inwardly with a trace of regret, shrugged her shoulders, and obediently opened the front passenger door. In the back seat, Tan Hua stared at the two tall Alpha figures in front of her, her mind already stirring with mischief again. “Now, what’s still missing here?”
The system perked up. “Lu Huaixu? Or Wen Chuan?”
“The female lead,” Tan Hua leaned forward, wedging herself between Sheng Yiheng and Zheng Jinyu, cupping her cheeks with both hands, and flashing a smile that glowed with a faint, almost ominous excitement. “If the female lead were here right now, things would get really interesting.”
Her scheming heart refused to die. The system could only choke on its own silence, inwardly praying: You better not regret this later. Don’t come crying to me day and night when you’re drowning in drama.
Suddenly, a fluffy head popped out from the back seat. Sheng Yiheng turned around and was nearly scared out of her wits.
She instinctively slapped her palm onto the top of Tan Hua’s head and gave a light push, sending her bouncing back into the seat. “Sit properly. Buckle your seatbelt.”
As Tan Hua’s head left her hand, the warmth and softness lingering in her palm vanished too—just like something in her heart, leaving a tiny, empty space behind.
Sheng Yiheng had to admit: the touch of an Omega really was something else—soft and warm, enough to make one’s heart melt.
That kind of tender, alluring sensation was dangerously addictive. In fact, for a fleeting moment, Sheng Yiheng actually regretted not savoring it just a few seconds longer.
Zheng Jinyu glanced back at Tan Hua, her eyes full of fond indulgence and helplessness. “We’re about to head out.”
Sheng Yiheng instinctively looked her way. Seriously?! This woman… How shameless can she be? Using that gentle tone—who is she trying to seduce?!
Wasn’t Tan Hua her wife? Yet Zheng Jinyu carried on, acting all familiar like it was completely natural.
So unprincipled.
Once again, the two Alphas began secretly but fiercely competing. In the back seat, Tan Hua watched with bright eyes, thrilled and utterly entertained.
She looked completely unbothered, even occasionally adding fuel to the fire with a few casual comments, fanning the flames of this delicate standoff—until the system nearly had a panic attack and deeply regretted its past decisions.
Maybe canceling the shock function was a mistake, it thought grimly.
It wasn’t exactly humanitarian, but when the host was having fun, so was the system. If both sides were enjoying it, how could that be punishment? That was clearly a reward!
Unfortunately, now it could only watch helplessly, completely powerless to stop Tan Hua’s reckless antics.
The car soon pulled into the courtyard behind Zheng Jinyu’s home. While silently surveying the surroundings, Sheng Yiheng kept half an eye on Tan Hua the entire time.
Tan Hua, already quite practiced, hopped out of the car and walked toward the living room like she owned the place. Hands in her pockets, Sheng Yiheng’s gaze darkened under the dim evening light.
That familiar? There’s no way this is her first time here. She mentally drew a conclusion.
Tan Hua could clearly feel Sheng Yiheng’s gaze trailing along her back as she walked. She turned around with a puzzled expression, only to catch Sheng Yiheng hurriedly looking away, pretending to inspect the courtyard instead. Caught in the act, Sheng Yiheng quickly laughed it off in a careless, unbothered manner—as if she hadn’t just been secretly watching someone.
What the heck? Tan Hua stared at her for a moment, then gave up trying to engage in this game of pretend.
She plopped down onto Zheng Jinyu’s leather couch, leaned back against a cushion, and casually twisted open a water bottle.
Seeing this, Sheng Yiheng’s steps came to a halt.
Well then. The Omega showed not the slightest hint of being a guest. She acted completely at home, relaxed and at ease—just like the real lady of the house. As if she belonged here.
Suddenly, a thought struck Sheng Yiheng: Could this… have been their old marital home?
Her expression stiffened slightly, the corners of her lips—intentionally curled into a smile—subconsciously lowered. She looked at Tan Hua with a sorrowful, accusing gaze: How could you?
You actually brought a client like me into the marital home you once shared with another Alpha? Aren’t you afraid I’ll walk away from the deal entirely?
Sheng Yiheng started making exaggerated facial expressions. Tan Hua studied her seriously for a moment before giving up. “I have no idea what Sheng Yiheng is thinking,” she muttered. Then, turning to the system, she asked, “Do you? Any clue?”
“None.” The system didn’t even hesitate.
After a pause, the system added uncertainly, “Maybe… it’s a misunderstanding?” Otherwise, Sheng Yiheng’s reaction wouldn’t be so dramatic—like a jilted wife.
A misunderstanding? Hugging her bottle of mineral water, Tan Hua suddenly snapped back to clarity.
A slow, meaningful smile spread across her face as she turned toward Sheng Yiheng—radiant, but offering no explanation. Instead, she let Sheng Yiheng stand there, receiving that smile and getting caught in a spiral of assumptions and speculation.
Zheng Jinyu was the last to enter and immediately noticed the subtle exchange of glances between the two. She didn’t call it out; instead, she casually stepped between them, cutting off their line of sight, and politely said, “President Sheng, please have a seat. Auntie is still busy in the kitchen—the food will be out shortly.”
With the view blocked, Sheng Yiheng had no choice but to drop it for now. She snapped back to herself and gave a courteous smile. “Thank you.”
She chose a seat close to Tan Hua—originally planning to sit right beside her. But Zheng Jinyu’s protective and subtly possessive manner left her with no room to maneuver.
Still, Sheng Yiheng was fairly satisfied with the current arrangement. At the very least, she had insisted on tagging along and could now observe firsthand what these two were usually up to after work.
Outwardly calm, Sheng Yiheng was inwardly scheming, scanning the surroundings in search of telltale signs—romantic candles, intoxicating red wine…
Unfortunately, the dining area was too far away, and her line of sight couldn’t reach it.
No matter. She wasn’t in a rush. Sheng Yiheng had made up her mind tonight: if Tan Hua didn’t leave, neither would she. If Tan Hua stayed the night, she’d stay the night. Her mission was simple—be the devoted, ever-present companion, and prevent this cunning Alpha, Zheng Jinyu, from sneaking into the Omega’s dreams and devouring her heart in the dead of night.
Truly benevolent, Sheng Yiheng praised herself inwardly. Is there any boss more concerned for their employee’s personal safety than me?
Absolutely not.
A boss like her was one of a kind. Tan Hua ought to cherish her more, she thought, casting another glance her way.
Every bit of Sheng Yiheng’s rapid-fire scheming was caught by Zheng Jinyu’s observant eyes. She smiled faintly, emotions unclear but overall steady.
After all, with Sheng Yiheng’s current level of influence, she wasn’t yet a real threat. Zheng Jinyu didn’t see her as an equal rival—not yet.
The living room fell silent for a moment. No one spoke. Sensing the faint tension crackling in the air, the housekeeper quickly brought out some cold appetizers. “Everyone, try some marinated chicken feet first. The rest of the dishes will be out soon.”
She then looked to Zheng Jinyu, awaiting instructions.
Zheng Jinyu gave her a small nod. Understanding, the housekeeper quietly retreated and disappeared into the dining area.
As Sheng Yiheng pulled out a chair to sit, her eyes locked onto Zheng Jinyu. “Care for a drink, President Zheng?”
Sheng Yiheng could handle her liquor. If she wasn’t the best among her peers, no one else would dare claim the title. Though she wasn’t sure how well Zheng Jinyu could hold her alcohol, there was an old saying—a person’s drinking habits reveal their character. If there was even the slightest chance that Zheng Jinyu might get tipsy and slip up, spilling some grand secret or making an embarrassing comment, then it was worth the risk.
Let Tan Hua see her true colors early and cut ties clean.
With that thought, Sheng Yiheng’s smile brightened, bold and unapologetically laced with challenge.
Zheng Jinyu opened her mouth, about to decline, when a clear and enthusiastic voice piped up from the side: “Sounds great!”
Tan Hua eagerly raised her hand. “I’m in favor of a drink.”
“What are you chiming in for?” Sheng Yiheng immediately turned and shot her down. “You’re not allowed to drink.”
Tan Hua glared. “Why can’t I drink?”
If she didn’t drink, how was she supposed to carry out her plan? How would she seize the opportunity and let chaos unfold? Furious, she jabbed a finger at Sheng Yiheng. “You’re always ruining my plans!”
“I said no, and that’s final.” Sheng Yiheng was unyielding, ignoring whether Tan Hua was angry or not. She turned back to Zheng Jinyu, pressing with determination until the other woman finally gave in with a nod. “Alright then.”
“Just a little. No overindulging.”
“No problem,” Sheng Yiheng said immediately.
An Alpha’s motives were far too easy to read. Zheng Jinyu’s lips curled slightly in amusement. As if offhandedly, she added, “As it happens, Aunt Zhang recently brought back some homemade, alcohol-free wine from her hometown.”
After speaking, the housekeeper looked toward Zheng Jinyu, awaiting her next instruction.
Zheng Jinyu gave a subtle nod. The housekeeper immediately understood and withdrew, disappearing into the dining room. As Sheng Yiheng pulled out her chair, her eyes were locked onto Zheng Jinyu. “A drink, President Zheng?”
Sheng Yiheng could hold her liquor—if she claimed second place, no one dared claim first. Though she wasn’t entirely sure of Zheng Jinyu’s tolerance, there’s a saying: how one drinks reveals their character. If Zheng Jinyu got drunk and accidentally let something slip—maybe a shocking secret, or some less-than-elegant words—then her loyal employee could finally see her true nature and cut ties early.
With that thought, Sheng Yiheng’s smile grew even brighter, unconcealed and laced with open provocation.
Zheng Jinyu opened her mouth to politely decline, but was cut off by a clear, eager voice: “Sounds good to me!”
Tan Hua raised her hand enthusiastically. “I vote yes for drinks.”
“What are you jumping in for?” Sheng Yiheng immediately shot her down. “You’re not allowed to drink.”
Tan Hua glared at her. “Why can’t I drink?”
If she didn’t drink, how was she supposed to stir the pot? How could she seize an opportunity while others were tipsy and let “accidents” happen? Fuming, she jabbed a finger at Sheng Yiheng. “You just love ruining my plans, don’t you?”
“Doesn’t matter. Still not allowed.” Sheng Yiheng was resolute, completely ignoring whether Tan Hua was upset or not. She turned her full focus back on Zheng Jinyu, pressuring her until Zheng Jinyu had no choice but to nod. “Alright, then.”
“Just a little—no overdrinking.”
“No problem,” Sheng Yiheng agreed immediately.
Alphas were so easy to read. Zheng Jinyu’s lips curved into a faint, knowing smile. As if offhandedly, she said, “Perfect timing. Aunt Zhang brought back some of her homemade wine from her hometown a few days ago—it’s alcohol-free.”
She walked to the sideboard and picked up a bottle. “Shall we try this one tonight?”
Sheng Yiheng hesitated. Homemade and alcohol-free? That usually just meant “untested” rather than truly non-alcoholic.
Still, if Zheng Jinyu dared offer it, why shouldn’t she accept? She nodded sharply. “Alright, let’s drink that.”
Tonight, she was going to drink until this fox revealed her tail.
As the two clinked glasses, Tan Hua sat off to the side, expressionless. Are they treating me like I’m invisible now? She gnawed at a marinated chicken foot, sending death glares at the two Alphas—if looks could kill, there would be holes carved into their backs by now.
After barely a couple of glasses, Aunt Zhang brought out the hot dishes. As expected, Sheng Yiheng and Zheng Jinyu began chatting about work—though it may have only been a front.
The atmosphere slowly warmed up, until the tension spiked again—this time because of Cheng Yuan.
Tan Hua glanced left, then right, just in time to hear Sheng Yiheng press, “I heard you’ve known Cheng Yuan for a long time? You two were close, weren’t you?”
Zheng Jinyu didn’t deny it. “Yes. I met her parents through work when she was still in high school. We gradually got to know each other.”
“We used to have dinner together often.”
“So you liked her?” Sheng Yiheng’s gaze didn’t waver. “To be honest, I’ve heard some… rumors about you two.”
As she said this, she quickly shot a glance at Tan Hua.
Zheng Jinyu chuckled, unable to hold back. “Is that so?” Her expression and tone were both calm. “Funny—I’ve heard rumors about you and her as well, President Sheng.”
“I recall hearing you once pursued her. Is that true?”
Her voice—low, magnetic, laced with the allure of alcohol—delivered the words with devastating calm. Sheng Yiheng sobered up almost instantly. Caught off-guard by Zheng Jinyu’s straightforwardness, she stammered slightly. “Well… used to, yes.”
“It’s in the past.” She tried to dismiss it, then quickly counterattacked. “But if I remember right, you said you were going to wait for her—until she became Mrs. Zheng.”
“Wonder if that still holds?” Without waiting for an answer, Sheng Yiheng let out a dramatic sigh. “If not, she’s going to be heartbroken when she returns.”
“Well, that’d be your chance, wouldn’t it?” Zheng Jinyu smiled lightly. “Opportunities like that are rare. President Sheng should make the most of her heartbreak.”
“And you?” Sheng Yiheng raised her eyes. “You’re just going to abandon her?”
Zheng Jinyu calmly lifted her glass and took a slow sip. Then she replied evenly, her voice firm and steady: “I already have someone I truly like now, President Sheng.”
All the sharp words Sheng Yiheng had prepared froze on the tip of her tongue.
She admitted it—just like that?
Not even a token protest? Not even a little performance?
Faced with Zheng Jinyu’s clarity and decisiveness, Sheng Yiheng fell silent. Then, she started pouring herself drink after drink.
Zheng Jinyu had made up her mind. But what about herself?
Suddenly, she was lost in her own thoughts.
Tan Hua watched the scene, mildly disappointed. “I really thought they were about to fight,” she muttered, sipping her drink and biting her straw. “If it were Wen Chuan instead, he would’ve flipped the table and the person by now.”
The system: “…” Please don’t bring him up. Your violent little wolfdog is still cramming late into the night with a mountain of college prep books.
Thanks to Sheng Yiheng’s abrupt silence, the atmosphere at the table became awkwardly tense. It wasn’t until Tan Hua was nearly full that she suddenly realized, “Should we… stop letting President Sheng drink?”
If she kept going, she’d be totally smashed—and might end up spending the night here.
She reached out to take Sheng Yiheng’s glass, but was suddenly caught off guard—her wrist was grabbed.
Looking down, she saw Sheng Yiheng’s fair skin flushed pink, her usual pitch-dark eyes now hazy and unfocused. The elegant, sharp features of the Alpha had quieted into something softer, more intoxicating. The entire vibe was dangerously alluring.
Tan Hua had always been mesmerized by Sheng Yiheng’s looks. Now, with her tipsy and dazed like a confused child, that temptation surged, overwhelming and unrelenting.
She swallowed hard—but before she could do anything, Zheng Jinyu’s voice cut through the tension. “Take her upstairs to rest. She’s drunk.”
“I’m not drunk!” At the mention of those words, Sheng Yiheng suddenly sat up straight, forcing her eyes wide open as if to prove her clarity.
Her posture rigid, expression cool and composed. “I’m perfectly sober.”
“Here—let’s keep drinking.” She reached for the glass again, but Zheng Jinyu casually pushed it away.
Sheng Yiheng scowled, then—without warning—pulled Tan Hua into her arms and refused to let go. A sharp look from Zheng Jinyu sliced across the table. Tan Hua immediately raised her hands. Innocent! I didn’t do anything! This has nothing to do with me!
With the scent she’d longed for now inches from her nose, Sheng Yiheng finally seemed to calm down. Her long arms wrapped securely around Tan Hua’s slender waist, her chin resting lightly against her soft stomach.
Then, with a stubborn, slightly slurred tone, she muttered, “I think—”
Tan Hua’s ears perked up. “?” Is this… juicy gossip incoming?
Sheng Yiheng gazed up at her, eyes bright and earnest. “I think I’m just like her,” she mumbled, pointing at Zheng Jinyu—whose face had now darkened like a scorched pan. “I think I’ve fallen for you, too.”
Our dear President Sheng: hopeless at love, but loves to play.
President Zheng: surprise rival +1.
