The Five Heartless Scumbag Alphas Turned Against Each Other Because Of Me - Chapter 48.1
Sheng Yiheng more or less guessed that Tang Yanrou had misunderstood her relationship with Tan Hua, but she had no intention of explaining. She simply said, “Thank you, but things between us are just fine now.”
She offered Tang Yanrou a polite smile, then shifted her gaze away and prepared to stride toward the two Omegas. But just as she stepped forward, Tang Yanrou gently called out, “It’s not the right time to go over there.”
Sheng Yiheng paused mid-step, looking back at her in confusion.
Tang Yanrou explained calmly, “That Omega just went through something very humiliating. In her mind, she must be feeling extremely ashamed. And as an Alpha she barely knows, you’ve seen her at her most vulnerable. That would only make her feel more embarrassed and exposed, like she wants to disappear.”
“The best thing to do right now is to let Miss Tan comfort her first. Once that Omega has calmed down and gathered herself, then we can appear in their line of sight.”
She paused for a moment, then looked at Sheng Yiheng with a meaningful gaze. “It’s important to respect an Omega’s privacy.”
Sheng Yiheng felt like Tang Yanrou was lecturing her—but she had no proof.
Still, she had to admit Tang Yanrou had a point. So, sensibly, she withdrew her foot and gave up the idea of approaching. She also politely looked away, no longer trying to intrude on the private moment between the two Omegas.
Tang Yanrou observed her actions and let out a subtle breath of relief. Perhaps Sheng Yiheng wasn’t a lost cause after all. At least, she was different from the arrogant, overbearing Alphas so common in the outside world.
If she was willing to change, then Miss Tan likely wouldn’t suffer too much by her side.
Tang Yanrou didn’t quite understand why she cared so much about Tan Hua. After thinking it through calmly, she figured it was probably because Tan Hua was the only Omega she had ever met who was pure without being fake, delicate yet quietly strong.
Someone with a character that beautiful—how could anyone not be moved?
Mu Wanyi cried so hard she couldn’t even catch her breath. She hadn’t felt this wronged at first—after all, her marriage with Du Yunshuo had never been real to begin with.
He had always looked down on her background. But because she had schemed to get him to mark her permanently, he had no choice but to marry her to quiet the public outcry. Their marriage had always been built on mutual use, not love.
Mu Wanyi had known this all along. She never expected anything from Du Yunshuo.
This wasn’t the first time he had hit her. But today, for the first time, she truly felt wronged. Ever since she was young, no one had ever respected her or cared about her. People always looked down on her because of where she came from.
She felt like a weed growing by the roadside—something anyone could trample on.
Now that she had become Du Yunshuo’s wife, she was just a weed he kept in his house—a personal punching bag for him to release his anger on.
Mu Wanyi had already seen how her life would play out—bleak and predictable. She had always thought that if she could just endure long enough, things would get better eventually. That her time would come, once she “earned” her place.
But today, the very woman she had always dismissed—Tan Hua—looked her straight in the eyes and asked with confusion, “Why don’t you fight back?”
How was she supposed to fight back?
She was just a fragile Omega—physically weaker, emotionally exhausted. Even setting aside the obvious power difference, if she dared to disobey Du Yunshuo, his lawyer would show up at her door the next day with a divorce agreement and force her to sign it.
Even though Du Yunshuo’s company was struggling recently, he was still far more powerful than she’d ever be. He could crush her like an ant—and no one would know or care.
Mu Wanyi had always seen life with cold clarity. And it was exactly because she understood it so well that she now felt so utterly defeated.
She cried until her voice was hoarse, like she was trying to scream out all the resentment and injustice she had buried for years. Tan Hua knew her too well, so Mu Wanyi didn’t bother pretending in front of her.
She cried so loudly and for so long that Tan Hua finally pushed her away, looking thoroughly annoyed. “Seriously,” she said with open disgust, “have you looked in the mirror? Do you even know what you look like right now?”
Tan Hua’s disdain was obvious.
Mu Wanyi’s crying came to a sudden stop. She stared at her with tear-streaked eyes, too afraid to keep crying, fearing Tan Hua would say something even crueler. But if she didn’t cry, all those emotions would stay stuck in her chest, too painful to swallow, too awkward to ignore.
She looked at Tan Hua for a long time and finally realized—Tan Hua wasn’t going to soften just because she was crying.
Mu Wanyi had no choice but to sniff back her tears, trying to regain some composure. She whispered, “I’m sorry…”
Mu Wanyi had always seen life for what it truly was—and it was exactly that clarity that made her feel even more wronged in this moment.
She cried so hard her voice turned hoarse, like she was trying to release every bit of resentment and pain that had built up over the years. Tan Hua knew her too well, so she didn’t feel the need to put on any kind of act in front of her.
But her crying was just too loud and grating. Tan Hua finally lost patience and pushed her away, her face full of annoyance.
“Honestly, have you looked at yourself in the mirror lately?”
Her disdain was obvious, without even the slightest attempt to hide it. Mu Wanyi’s loud sobbing came to an abrupt stop. With red, swollen eyes, she looked pitifully at Tan Hua, wanting to cry again—but also afraid Tan Hua might say something even sharper that would pierce straight through her heart.
Yet if she didn’t cry, all her emotions would just stay stuck in her chest, making her feel miserable and awkward.
She stared at Tan Hua for a long moment and finally accepted the truth: Tan Hua wasn’t going to go easy on her just because she was upset.
Mu Wanyi sniffled and tried her best to pull herself together.
“I’m sorry…” she murmured.
“I just… couldn’t control my emotions for a moment.”
She wiped her tears with the back of her hand, only to smear her makeup even worse.
Tan Hua couldn’t bear the sight any longer and handed her a clutch purse.
“Go fix your makeup.”
Mu Wanyi glanced at the limited-edition bag and, even in the middle of her grief, couldn’t help but gossip with a spark of curiosity that cut through her sadness.
“How can you even afford a bag like this?”
“Are you kidding me?” Tan Hua looked at her like she’d said something outrageous.
“Me? Afford a bag like that? Even if I could afford it, there’s no way I’d spend money on something that ridiculously expensive.”
She cleared her throat, then gave an embarrassed smile under Mu Wanyi’s blank stare.
“I borrowed it from Sheng Yiheng.”
Mu Wanyi suddenly felt a mess of emotions all at once.
Was it that… if you never got married, you could still live like Tan Hua—completely outrageous, a little naive, and untouched by the harshness of the world?
For the first time, she felt lost. What had she gone through all that effort for—forcing her way into a wealthy marriage?
Was it just to be Du Yunshuo’s personal punching bag?
Even she found it laughable now.
Tan Hua pulled her into the restroom and helped her freshen up her makeup with a few simple touches. As she handed the clutch back to her, Mu Wanyi suddenly said,
“You need to be careful lately.”
Tan Hua was puzzled. “Why?”
Mu Wanyi hesitated before continuing,
“My parents said your parents have been trying everything they can to track you down. I think… they want you to pay off their debts.”
She blinked, her eyes still sore from crying.
“You probably already guessed—if you can’t pay, they’ll try to sell you off to some rich but disgusting old man just to get enough money to gamble and drink.”
Tan Hua’s biological parents were infamous for their cruelty. They had neglected her from a young age, sometimes even beating her. She had grown up surviving off the kindness of neighbors—sharing meals, wearing hand-me-downs, scraping by.
But just after she graduated and started working, her parents threatened her, trying to force her into marriage for a massive dowry.
Unwilling to let her life be dictated like that, Tan Hua had packed her bags in the middle of the night and fled—changing all her contact info to avoid being found.
In the original storyline, her parents eventually did find her—because the person who leaked her information… was Mu Wanyi.
Mu Wanyi was the only one who had Tan Hua’s new contact information. Her parents, through their connections with Mu Wanyi’s parents, eventually coerced her into handing it over. That same day, they brought debt collectors with them to kidnap Tan Hua and force her into marriage.
Fortunately, with Lu Huaixu’s help, she narrowly escaped.
After hearing all this, Tan Hua gave a soft, sarcastic laugh, her eyes lingering on Mu Wanyi.
“The world’s a big place. You think they’ll just magically find me?”
Mu Wanyi quickly raised both hands, swearing,
“I promise I won’t give them any of your information.”
But her expression grew serious again.
“It’s just… if they hire someone professional to track you…”
Then Tan Hua might not be able to hide at all.
But Tan Hua didn’t seem too worried. She looked at Mu Wanyi with a meaningful expression and said,
“As long as you don’t tell them, I’ll be fine.”
Mu Wanyi’s cheeks flushed. She felt embarrassed and a little guilty.
If this had happened before, she would’ve had no problem watching Tan Hua fall into ruin, even felt a twisted sense of satisfaction.
But after everything that had happened today, she couldn’t do that anymore—not when Tan Hua had shown her such raw honesty.
Mu Wanyi knew that no matter how many times she promised, Tan Hua probably wouldn’t fully trust her.
So she made a silent vow: she would protect Tan Hua’s whereabouts with real actions—not just empty words. She wanted Tan Hua to see her in a new light.
Taking a deep breath, she closed her eyes for a moment, then opened them again.
“Let’s go back out.”
She managed to smile again. And despite the slightly heavy makeup, her face was still undeniably beautiful.
Tan Hua looked her over briefly, then asked,
“So, what exactly are you doing here today?”
Mu Wanyi’s smile froze for a second, but she quickly recovered.
“I’m here to sign some documents on Du Yunshuo’s behalf.”
“The company’s in trouble, and he’s busy trying to butter up powerful people.”
She lowered her voice, sounding a little guilty.
“Last time, he noticed something between you and Zheng Jinyu. And today, he’s clearly picked up on how close you are with Sheng Yiheng.”
“That means you need to be careful. He’s definitely going to target you.”
Tan Hua didn’t respond right away. Instead, she looked at her and asked,
“What about you? What’s your plan?”
Mu Wanyi was caught off guard. She hesitated, then mumbled,
“What do you mean… plan?”
“You and him—what about your future together?” Tan Hua leaned casually against the sink, arms crossed. “Aren’t you two married? What’s your plan? If you really want to keep being with him, I can help him…”
“No!” Mu Wanyi cut her off without hesitation. Her voice was cold and sharp with anger. “Don’t help him. Let him rot on his own.”
Tan Hua was her best friend—why should she help Du Yunshuo, that garbage of a man? Mu Wanyi’s face darkened as she pleaded again, “Please don’t help him. And don’t show him any kindness just because of me. In fact, I’d be thrilled if you sabotaged him behind the scenes, made sure he never recovers.”
“Men like him belong in the dirt—worthless and trampled on.”
Tan Hua raised an eyebrow and let out a short laugh. “You don’t love him anymore? Wasn’t it you who schemed so hard to marry him? I remember you bragging about it to me—more than once.”
