The Five Heartless Scumbag Alphas Turned Against Each Other Because Of Me - Chapter 32.2
Tan Hua, as always, left the office on time. She strode out confidently, heels clicking. Because she was early, no one else had left yet—so when she arrived at the parking lot, she immediately spotted Wen Chuan, waiting by her car.
Tan Hua frowned slightly. This can’t be good.
She walked over, heels tapping crisply. Wen Chuan noticed and turned around with a mix of nervousness and tension, hugging a gleaming trophy to her chest.
“You’re off work already.”
“Mm.” Tan Hua raised an eyebrow and jingled her car keys. “Why are you here?”
Wasn’t she still playing in that school match?
“I… I came to see you,” Wen Chuan stammered. Then, quickly adjusting her words, “I won today’s game. I wanted to share the good news with you.”
“Oh.”
Tan Hua’s gaze finally shifted to the shiny, heavy trophy in her arms.
And… that was it. Her face remained calm, with barely any emotion.
The joy in Wen Chuan’s heart was instantly doused in cold water. She gripped the trophy tighter, as if that would somehow give her more presence in front of Tan Hua.
“Aren’t you happy for me?” she asked quietly.
“Of course.” Tan Hua casually unlocked the car. “Very happy for you.”
Just in case Wen Chuan didn’t believe her, she added:
“Really. You’ve done well—I’m genuinely proud of you.”
Her words were polite. Her tone was even. Her expression? Unbothered.
Wen Chuan, however, felt like she’d taken a punch to the chest. That wasn’t the reaction she had hoped for.
She wanted cheering. She wanted pride. She wanted a smile.
None of that came from Tan Hua.
In that instant, her joy crashed into disappointment. But before she could dwell too long on it, she saw Tan Hua preparing to drive off. She panicked, took a step forward instinctively, and asked—
“You… are you busy?”
The words “I want you to spend time with me today” danced on the tip of her tongue, but fear swallowed them before they could escape.
“Not really.”
Tan Hua honestly had no plans tonight. She’d already made her money for the day. She was planning to head to the bar and enjoy the night.
But judging by Wen Chuan’s expression… it looked like she wanted to tag along?
Tan Hua narrowed her eyes and gave Wen Chuan a once-over.
Wen Chuan shifted uncomfortably under her gaze, then clenched her fingers and asked, voice low but firm:
“Can I come with you?”
Absolutely not—Tan Hua was about to reject her outright.
But as expected… the system stepped in.
“Host, are you serious right now?! You’re about to pass up free money?”
“Look at Wen Chuan—she’s basically throwing herself at you. Doesn’t she look exactly like those two million yuan you didn’t earn yesterday, walking on two legs?”
Tan Hua, as usual, left the office right on time with her bag in hand. She was so punctual and eager that hardly anyone else had come out yet. So when she arrived at the parking lot, she immediately saw Wen Chuan standing next to her sports car.
Tan Hua frowned slightly. Something didn’t feel right.
She walked over in confident strides, the click of her heels echoing. Wen Chuan noticed her almost instantly. She turned around with a trophy in her arms, her expression a mix of nervousness and unease.
“You’re off work already,” she said awkwardly.
“Yeah.” Tan Hua raised an eyebrow, twirling her car keys in her hand. Her voice was genuinely puzzled.
“What are you doing here?”
Wasn’t Wen Chuan supposed to still be at her basketball game?
“I… I came here on purpose. To see you.”
Wen Chuan seemed like she wanted to say more, but quickly changed her words.
“I won an award in today’s match. I wanted to share the good news with you.”
“Oh.”
Tan Hua finally took a closer look at the shiny, heavy trophy in Wen Chuan’s arms.
That was it. Her face showed no special reaction—no surprise, no joy.
Wen Chuan’s excitement was instantly deflated. She gripped the trophy tighter, as if holding it firmly would somehow make her feel more confident in front of Tan Hua.
“You’re not happy for me?” she asked quietly.
“I am,” Tan Hua replied casually, pressing the button to unlock her car.
“I’m really happy for you.”
To avoid any misunderstanding, she even added,
“Seriously. It’s great to see you doing so well. I’m proud of you.”
Her tone was polite and her words were just right—but they felt cold. Wen Chuan could sense that. And that wasn’t the kind of reaction she wanted.
What she really wanted was for Tan Hua to cheer for her, to smile at her with joy, to be proud—truly proud. But none of that was there.
Her heart sank. She noticed Tan Hua reaching for her car door, clearly about to leave. She froze, then instinctively took a step forward.
“Are you… busy tonight?”
The words “I was hoping you’d spend some time with me” hovered on the edge of her tongue, but she just couldn’t bring herself to say them out loud.
“Not really,” Tan Hua replied. She honestly didn’t have any plans tonight. She’d already made the money she wanted during the day, and she was planning to relax at the bar for the evening.
But judging from Wen Chuan’s expression, it looked like she wasn’t planning on letting her go so easily.
Tan Hua narrowed her eyes and scanned Wen Chuan up and down twice, suspicious. Wen Chuan felt a bit uncomfortable under her gaze but gathered her courage, clenched her fingers, and asked:
“Can I come with you?”
Absolutely not—Tan Hua was ready to say no.
But as expected, the system jumped in and stopped her.
“Host, have you completely lost your mind? That’s money walking straight up to your door and you’re just going to turn it away?” the system scolded, practically in tears.
“Look at Wen Chuan—doesn’t she look exactly like that two million yuan you missed out on yesterday, standing right in front of you?”
“All you have to do is act a little more concerned, ask how she’s doing, and she’d gladly let you scam her out of everything she owns—even her underwear!”
The system was deeply emotional and full of conviction.
Tan Hua, on the other hand, was completely unmoved.
“That easy?” she said with a scoff.
“She’s that easy to scam, and she still has the nerve to play the role of some tragic CEO’s substitute lover?”
The system’s virtual temples throbbed. It gritted its teeth and tried to defend Wen Chuan.
“You were the one who approached her first! You’re the one who sweet-talked her into that stand-in relationship!”
“Hold it—” Tan Hua interrupted. “Let’s be clear.”
“That was the original Host, not me.”
She looked completely unbothered and heartless, and the system genuinely didn’t know what to do with her anymore. Reasoning didn’t work, electric shocks were ineffective… it was at a loss.
While the system silently questioned the meaning of its existence, Tan Hua—having been reminded—turned her attention back to Wen Chuan and stared at her for quite a while.
She stared long enough that Wen Chuan’s ears slowly turned red under the pressure.
Finally, Tan Hua blinked, paused, and then said with an easy smile,
“How about this?”
“I’ll take you to a bar.”
Her voice was casual and bold.
“Drink whatever you want. Play whatever you want. I promise I’ll make sure you have the time of your life tonight.”
Wen Chuan: “?”
System: “???”
Wen Chuan just stood there, staring at Tan Hua in shock, completely blank for a few seconds.
But Tan Hua wasn’t in the mood to wait. She waved her hand, her tone brisk:
“Hurry up. Get in the car. We’re leaving.”
Wen Chuan hesitated, frustration building inside. She wanted to say something—but she also worried that if she pushed too hard, Tan Hua might actually leave her behind.
In the end, she swallowed her emotions, opened the door, and sat in the passenger seat with a stomach full of unspoken anger.
She thought bitterly—
This morning, Tan Hua drove Sheng Yiheng around. And now tonight, she’s driving her.
She was switching passengers faster than blinking.
Just thinking about sitting in the same seat Sheng Yiheng had occupied earlier that day made Wen Chuan uncomfortable. The scene of Tan Hua flirting with Qi Yu in front of her was still fresh in her mind. And now this…
Wen Chuan felt like she didn’t understand Tan Hua at all anymore.
The Omega who once clung to her so desperately, who seemed so fragile and dependent—how had she changed so drastically in just a few days? Was Tan Hua’s affection really that short-lived?
Did her feelings expire after just a few days?
Wen Chuan spiraled deeper into her thoughts, her face growing darker and gloomier.
Tan Hua glanced at her out of the corner of her eye, the corners of her lips curling into a lazy smile. But she said nothing to interrupt her thoughts.
Instead, she opened the car’s sunroof and turned on some music, basking in the golden rays of the setting sun and letting the soft breeze run through her hair.
Wen Chuan couldn’t help but turn to look at her, lips pressed together, her eyes quietly fixed on Tan Hua’s relaxed expression.
Tan Hua’s long black hair danced in the wind, wild and effortless. Her striking features stood out boldly, and her bright face was lit with an easy, carefree smile. The warm, amber light of the setting sun bathed her in a glow that made her look absolutely breathtaking.
She was dazzling—bright red lips, perfect teeth, porcelain skin. In that moment of sheer vitality, she was so radiant it was impossible to look away. Even breathing felt like a conscious effort.
Wen Chuan’s heart skipped a beat. It took her a while to snap out of it. When she finally did, she quickly looked away, flustered. Her mind spun with tangled thoughts, her heartbeat loud and erratic.
The feeling was so familiar that she instinctively rejected it, telling herself once again:
I like Cheng Yuan.
But even so, Wen Chuan still couldn’t stop herself from asking:
“You’ve been really cold to me lately.”
“Not like before,” she added in a soft voice, barely above a whisper. “You used to do everything to please me. Always followed my lead, always made me feel special. You never looked at anyone else.”
“But now…”
Her words poured out, like a dam breaking.
“I feel like all these other people—people who have nothing to do with you—are constantly pulling your attention away from me.”
Like Sheng Yiheng. Like Lu Huaixu.
And she couldn’t shake the feeling that she didn’t measure up to either of them. That in Tan Hua’s heart, she was always placed last.
But she had been the one to know Tan Hua first.
The tone in Wen Chuan’s voice sounded so wronged and vulnerable that it made Tan Hua, for a moment, look like a heartless player.
Tan Hua blinked, puzzled.
“Didn’t you tell me to keep my distance?”
Wen Chuan opened her mouth to deny it—but then paused. A memory flashed across her mind, and she suddenly wasn’t so sure.
“And right now,” Tan Hua continued, eyes on the road, “your priority is to focus on school. I didn’t want to bother you all the time and distract you from your studies. That’s why I’ve been keeping my distance.”
It sounded perfectly reasonable—a flawless excuse, in fact.
Wen Chuan frowned. She wanted to argue that it wasn’t like that, but couldn’t figure out where to start. So instead, she changed the subject:
“Then what about earlier today?” she asked. “When you handed that bottle of water to Qi Yu right in front of me—was that also for the sake of my academic focus?”
Tan Hua almost hit the brakes.
Yeah… no.
But of course, she wasn’t going to admit the truth.
“You were the one who said we weren’t close,” Tan Hua said lightly. “I just assumed you didn’t want people to know about our… not-so-proper relationship.”
Wen Chuan instantly felt a lump rise in her throat.
But she recovered quickly and continued pressing.
“So that’s your excuse for giving my mortal enemy a bottle of water right in front of me?”
Yikes.
Seeing that Wen Chuan was about to spiral into a full-blown jealousy meltdown, Tan Hua made a snap decision and dropped a tactical bomb:
“Did you know…” she began casually, watching Wen Chuan’s already-suspicious face, “that your beloved Cheng Yuan called my boss Sheng Yiheng today?”
Wen Chuan’s expression froze.
Cheng Yuan hadn’t contacted her at all today—not a message, not a call.
She had even sent a picture of her trophy right after winning, just to share the moment. No response.
Tan Hua caught the shift in her expression and smiled faintly, her tone completely unbothered.
“They looked like they were having a good time, too.”
“And now your face doesn’t look too great,” she added with mock concern. “What’s wrong?”
Then, after a deliberately timed pause, she asked sweetly:
“Don’t tell me Cheng Yuan never called you back after finishing her chat with Sheng Yiheng?”
Tan Hua (internally): Why so serious? Aren’t you gonna laugh?
