The Five Heartless Scumbag Alphas Turned Against Each Other Because Of Me - Chapter 108
The heroine’s voice trailed off with a light, flirtatious upward lilt that was both tender and bewitching. Her face wore a confident, almost smug expression, which made it even more infuriating. Yan Yan’s face immediately darkened.
“So, what if you gave her fifty million?” Yan Yan sneered, her lips curving in a mocking smile. “You don’t even realize, do you? She’s always lived in your shadow, never even had a name of her own.”
“Tell me—if you spent your whole life being seen as someone else, if everyone around you only treated you as a substitute, and you were forced to mimic that person’s every move just to earn a bit of attention and affection—wouldn’t you end up hating them with every fiber of your being?”
Yan Yan’s smile was dazzling. “So, tell me, what’s money worth? Do you really think money can fix everything?”
Tang Hua: “!”
That’s not true! That’s not what I think at all! What are you even talking about?! Don’t go putting words in my mouth—I never had those thoughts!
And yes, money can solve everything. Because money is almighty.
To clarify her position and distance herself from Yan Yan’s nonsense, Tang Hua immediately turned to explain everything to the heroine and make sure she didn’t misunderstand.
But instead, the heroine furrowed her brows, clearly confused. “What do you mean by that?”
“She’s always lived in my shadow, has no identity of her own, and everyone sees her as me?” Cheng Yuan grew more baffled the more she spoke. “But I’m not even dead. Why would everyone treat someone else as if they were me?”
“And she supposedly lost everything that was originally hers?”
Cheng Yuan genuinely didn’t understand at first. It wasn’t until she noticed the strange, complex expressions on both Tang Hua and Yan Yan’s faces that something seemed to click. Like a sudden rush of enlightenment, realization struck her.
“You mean—”
“Tang Hua is my stand-in?”
“What else could it be?” Yan Yan replied unhurriedly, casting a side glance at Tang Hua. Seeing no reaction from her, she bit her lip in frustration and continued, “Isn’t it obvious enough?”
“They found a substitute. But ask yourself—why would they do that behind your back while you were away?” Yan Yan continued, trying to stir up Cheng Yuan’s emotions.
Unable to help herself, Tang Hua reflexively muttered under her breath, “Because they’re scum.”
Just like me.
Under Yan Yan’s deathly glare—one that looked as if she wanted to skin her alive—Tang Hua silently shut her mouth and slowly slipped behind Cheng Yuan.
Cheng Yuan glanced at the timid and quiet Tang Hua, then looked away. “Miss Tang is right. They were unfaithful in love. That’s the only reason they would do something so low as finding a replacement behind my back.”
“But don’t think for a second that I’m heartbroken over it.” Cheng Yuan fluttered her thick, raven-like lashes. “You’re overthinking it. They were never anything more than a passing amusement to me.”
“Did you really think I was ever in love with them?”
Of course not.
With her exceptional family background, striking beauty, impressive résumé, and an infinite future brimming with possibilities, why would someone like Cheng Yuan waste her time on fleeting, petty romances?
Why would she give up exploring the wonders of the world, or return to a mundane life just to settle down in the name of love—only to vanish into the crowd?
Only a fool would do that.
She came from the powerful Cheng family. Even if she never married, the Chengs could easily support her for a lifetime. More importantly, she had great ambitions. There was no way she’d live her life without making her mark.
She was destined to achieve fame and success in this life—under the name Cheng Yuan, an Omega, not as someone’s Mrs. Lu, Mrs. Sheng, or Mrs. Zheng.
Cheng Yuan would always be Cheng Yuan, no one’s appendage, and never a mere extension of someone else.
Yan Yan was completely stunned by Cheng Yuan’s statement. She raised a trembling finger in disbelief. “You…”
Wait—what was Cheng Yuan even saying?
She treated Zheng Jinyu as nothing more than a pastime? She didn’t even truly like her?
And yet Zheng Jinyu still pined for her day and night, hopelessly infatuated? Yan Yan felt a wave of injustice on Zheng Jinyu’s behalf. “Jinyu is so devoted to you, and yet you treat her like this? You’re unbelievably heartless!”
“Just because someone likes me, does that mean I have to like them back?” Cheng Yuan let out a cold laugh. “You like her, but has she ever felt the need to like you in return? Has she?”
Tang Hua: “?!”
Double kill.
Even Tang Hua couldn’t help but feel a little sorry for Yan Yan. Two back-to-back verbal strikes that hit straight to the heart. She glanced at Yan Yan to observe her reaction—only to see Yan Yan, livid and trembling, pointing at Cheng Yuan for what felt like ages, sputtering “You, you, you…” but never quite managing to finish the sentence.
Fury flared in Yan Yan’s eyes. She looked ready to explode, but at the last second, managed to contain herself. She threw down a vicious line—
“You’ll regret this.”
With a final cold snort and a murderous glare at both Cheng Yuan and Tang Hua, she stormed off.
Even her retreating figure radiated an aggressive, untouchable aura—like a storm that refused to calm.
After she left, Tang Hua stole a glance at Cheng Yuan. She wanted to comment on what had just been said—but whatever came to mind felt… inappropriate.
And yet, saying nothing made her unbearably curious.
Just as she was inwardly struggling, Cheng Yuan finally withdrew her gaze from Yan Yan and spoke:
“She’s not a good person. Don’t get too close to her in the future.”
“If she ever comes to find you again, don’t meet with her. Keep your distance.”
Then, Cheng Yuan suddenly shifted the topic. “Before… when you were with Zheng Jinyu, you must’ve suffered a lot, right?”
Tang Hua initially wanted to shake her head, but remembering the original Tang Hua’s emotional breakdowns and near-hysterical episodes, she gave a small nod and admitted plainly, “Yeah.”
“She almost drove me insane.”
Cheng Yuan sighed softly, her tone layered with complexity. “You’ve had a hard time.”
“But it’s not too late. It’s good that you’re finally seeing things clearly.” She continued bluntly, “Back when I was still in the country, Yan Yan used her position at work as an excuse to constantly pull Zheng Jinyu away from me.”
“I eventually got sick of her little games. So I left the country without hesitation to study abroad. I didn’t want to play her petty tricks anymore.”
“If I kept wasting time getting entangled in her drama, all of my energy would’ve gone into this nonsense, and she would’ve ruined my entire life.”
Tang Hua had assumed Cheng Yuan would avoid discussing these past matters, but unexpectedly, she opened up so directly and abruptly. Tang Hua stayed quiet, listening intently—eager to learn more about the heroine.
But Cheng Yuan seemed to realize she’d spoken too much. She quickly changed the subject.
“You saved me once. My parents are really grateful, so this is a small token from them.”
As she spoke, she slipped a check into Tang Hua’s hand.
Tang Hua was a little flustered and tried to politely refuse. “There’s no need to be so formal. Sister Yueqing saved me once too…”
“No. You must take it.” Cheng Yuan was firm. “Otherwise, I won’t be able to explain myself when I go back.”
“You know how my mother is. When she says something, she means it.” Cheng Yuan winked playfully. “If you don’t accept it, she’ll come find you herself.”
“She’s incredibly talkative. Once she starts, she’ll go on and on about how thankful she is.”
Just hearing Cheng Yuan describe her mother gave Tang Hua a headache. Reluctantly, she held onto the check. “Then I guess… I’ll accept it?”
“Take it,” Cheng Yuan said casually. “My family’s not short on this kind of pocket change.”
Tang Hua: “…”
She had been standing upright a moment ago, but now it felt like someone had stabbed her in the heart—several times over. The pain was unbearable, almost enough to knock the wind out of her.
“Though it might sound a bit ominous, I still want to say this: if I ever end up in danger again, I hope you’ll be just as willing to help me, Miss Tang.”
“Of course! Don’t worry—leave it to me—” Tang Hua abruptly cut herself off, then gave a sheepish laugh under Cheng Yuan’s steady gaze. “But really, Yuan Yuan, you’re blessed with good fortune. You survived a major disaster, which means something great must be waiting for you. I’m sure you’ll catch the mastermind behind all this soon and be safe again.”
“Thanks for the good omen,” Cheng Yuan said, lips curling into an unreadable smile. Tang Hua quickly averted her eyes.
That was close. She almost got me to spill everything.
“This heroine is way too smart. She’s not easy to fool at all,” Tang Hua complained inwardly to the system. “Good thing I never ended up on her bad side.”
The system chuckled, “Satisfied now?”
Satisfied, my ass, Tang Hua cursed silently. She forced a fake smile at Cheng Yuan and pretended to play dumb.
Cheng Yuan, sensing she wouldn’t get any more useful information out of her, didn’t press further.
She glanced around, making sure Yan Yan was truly gone, before asking casually, “Did you see Ning Ning?”
“She just left from that direction,” Tang Hua replied, pointing. Then she added, “Maybe you should just call her instead. It’s better not to go wandering off alone again.”
That reminded her of something. “Wait, didn’t I ask President Sheng to accompany you? Where is she?”
“She’s over there,” Cheng Yuan said, turning her head toward where Sheng Yiheng stood. “I told her I wanted a private word with you, so I asked her to wait.”
“It wasn’t anything important. I just happened to see Yan Yan and figured she might give you a hard time.”
Cheng Yuan offered a faint smile. “Now that she’s gone, I should go check in on some other friends. So I’ll take my leave for now—apologies.”
Tang Hua quickly shook her head and said it was no problem. She watched until Cheng Yuan safely reached Sheng Yiheng’s side before finally letting out a breath of relief.
Only then did her attention shift back to Zheng Jinyu.
She cleared her throat and walked briskly over, politely interrupting Zheng Jinyu’s conversation. “Can we talk?”
Zheng Jinyu blinked in surprise, clearly not expecting it. After a short pause, she turned to the person beside her, said a quick “Excuse me,” and left with Tang Hua without hesitation.
Out on the terrace, Zheng Jinyu chose a spot where the city lights sprawled in the distance. She absentmindedly picked up a glass of champagne and asked, “Want one?”
But just as the words left her lips, she suddenly remembered—Tang Hua was pregnant.
She quickly set the bottle back down. “Sorry, I forgot.”
“It’s alright.” Tang Hua shook her head. “Honestly, I could go for a drink right now.”
Zheng Jinyu looked up in shock, her gaze resting quietly on Tang Hua. She didn’t object immediately. Instead, she asked, “Are you upset?”
After a pause, she added, “Is the baby giving you a hard time?”
“No,” Tang Hua replied, lowering her eyes. She gently placed a hand on her belly, which was just beginning to show. “It’s been really well-behaved.”
Except for that one time right after I found out I was pregnant.
Tang Hua had a strong suspicion that the baby had kicked up a fuss back then just to make her realize it was there—to get her to start being more careful, to care more.
Otherwise, why would it act out just that once, and then be perfectly quiet ever since?
Still, it made things easier for Tang Hua. If the baby had been more difficult, she honestly wouldn’t know how to handle it all.
When the Omega lowered her head and gently caressed her belly, there was a softness about her—a quiet, captivating grace that hadn’t been there before.
Perhaps it was because of the pregnancy, Zheng Jinyu thought silently.
Pregnant Omegas seemed to radiate a subtle maternal glow, and that gentle light made them appear even more delicate, stunning—so beautiful it was almost impossible to look away.
Zheng Jinyu had told herself she needed to keep her distance from Tang Hua. She had planned to use some space and time to cool down, to analyze what exactly she felt toward her.
But now, with just one glance from Tang Hua, one soft, fleeting smile—
everything Zheng Jinyu had built came crashing down.
Once again, she was utterly, completely defeated.
It was as if whenever she stood in front of Tang Hua, her rational mind simply ceased to function. All clarity vanished.
Zheng Jinyu found herself briefly lost in a daze.
Her gaze—quiet, unwavering—was almost dreamlike. And when Tang Hua lifted her head, she was met by Zheng Jinyu’s calm, gentle eyes and cool expression.
Her heart skipped a beat.
Then another.
It hurt a little—sharp and sudden.
As their eyes met, Zheng Jinyu quickly came back to her senses. She blinked a few times to cover it up, then abruptly shifted the subject.
“I’m going on a business trip for a while.”
“I thought I might not get the chance to tell you,” she added with a faint smile. “But I guess I got lucky.”
Business trip? Tang Hua’s eyes widened slightly.
But she just got back… and Yan Yan is already targeting her because of you. So why would you choose now, of all times, to leave?
Was this in the original plot?
I don’t think so…
Tang Hua unconsciously furrowed her brows. Seeing that, Zheng Jinyu’s heart tensed up again.
Will she ask me to stay? she wondered. Probably not.
After all, she clearly couldn’t stand her. She didn’t even have the patience to spare her a second glance most days.
Just like how Zheng Jinyu had once treated her—with coldness and disinterest.
And yet, despite it all, a flicker of hope still rose in Zheng Jinyu’s heart.
If Tang Hua said even one word—just one word asking her to stay—Zheng Jinyu would give up everything and stay without hesitation.
But instead, Tang Hua simply asked, “How long will you be gone?”
The tension drained from Zheng Jinyu’s shoulders in an instant.
She let out a quiet laugh, mocking herself for being so foolish, so hopelessly delusional. “I haven’t decided yet.”
“Maybe three to five months. Maybe half a year. Maybe a year or two.”
In short—it was uncertain.
And that uncertainty held another hidden meaning:
Zheng Jinyu could change her plans at any time.
Tang Hua was nearly confused by her. She stared suspiciously at Zheng Jinyu and asked, “So many uncertainties… Just what kind of massive project are you taking on?”
“Is it profitable? If it is, can you bring me along? In return, I’ll convince Yuan Yuan to invest. The two of us can even keep you company while we’re at it.”
Zheng Jinyu: “…?”
She was almost certain Tang Hua had ulterior motives—but the way she looked at her, so earnest and bright-eyed, made it hard for Zheng Jinyu to be sure.
“It’s… alright, I guess,” she replied awkwardly. “It’ll make money, but it’s going to be tough work. You two delicate little Omegas better sit this one out—”
“No, no, no. That doesn’t count,” Tang Hua immediately cut her off, sounding extremely firm. “We are not ‘delicate little Omegas.’ We are women of intelligence and beauty.”
She paused. “And talent.”
“And we’re not afraid of hard work.”
Tang Hua had already begun planning in her head: she’d take the heroine and go far, far away with Zheng Jinyu. Somewhere beyond the reach of those vicious supporting characters. Let’s see them try to cross half the globe to mess with her then.
Even if they could, the cost of doing so would be enormous. With such a distance, they’d have to think twice about whether it was worth the trouble. That would buy her and the heroine a much-needed break—a peaceful life for a while.
Because let’s face it, she couldn’t always be there to save the heroine in time.
Her belly was still small for now, so she had some strength left. But once she got further along in the pregnancy, she’d be helpless—unable to fight, unable to run. She’d be powerless.
That helpless frustration of being a scapegoat, a silent victim, constantly slandered by manipulative “green tea” types—just the thought of it could drive her mad.
Zheng Jinyu couldn’t understand why Tang Hua was so determined to come on this trip with her—and even drag Cheng Yuan along. She still firmly declined.
“You’re in your second trimester now. You need proper rest.”
“You’ve always been physically fragile. It’s easy for complications to arise. If you follow me around, exhausting yourself with work and travel, I…” Zheng Jinyu stopped herself. Her eyes flickered as she rephrased, “I can’t take responsibility for what might happen.”
Tang Hua fell silent.
And it wasn’t just a few seconds of quiet—it lasted minutes.
Zheng Jinyu grew increasingly uneasy but held herself back. She knew very clearly in that moment—she couldn’t bring the two Omegas with her. If anything happened along the way…
She didn’t even dare imagine the consequences.
“You’ll be safe here,” she said. “You have Sheng Yiheng and Lu Huaixu watching over you. Yuan Yuan will be safe, too. And so will your baby.”
“So what you’re saying,” Tang Hua replied coolly, “is that no matter what, I absolutely can’t come with you.”
Zheng Jinyu paused, then slowly nodded.
“Fine,” Tang Hua stood up, looking down at Zheng Jinyu from above. Her voice was calm, but sharp, “Just so happens—President Sheng has been trying to convince me to move into her house.”
“No.” Zheng Jinyu interrupted sharply, rising to her feet, her brows tightly furrowed.
Tang Hua raised her eyebrows, playing innocent. “Why not? Didn’t you say she was trustworthy and could keep me safe? If that’s the case, then why can’t I move in with her?”
“She’s an Alpha.” Zheng Jinyu exhaled deeply, struggling to keep calm. “If you live with her, something could happen.”
“What could happen?” Tang Hua’s lips curved into a smile. “Do you seriously think she’d be insane enough to make a move on a pregnant woman?”
“President Zheng,” she added with a soft laugh, “aren’t you overthinking things just a bit?”
“Hua Hua…” Zheng Jinyu murmured her name, then closed her eyes. The look in her eyes was filled with pain and struggle. “Do you really have to do this? You know what I actually meant.”
“I don’t,” Tang Hua replied calmly, shaking her head. “I really don’t know what you’re trying to say.”
Zheng Jinyu fell silent again, unable to respond.
After a long while, she finally whispered, “You know I’d get jealous. Don’t you?”
[Ex-wife Alert]: Sudden realization. Wait—was Hua Hua indirectly trying to get me to stay?
[System]: ? You’re hopeless. Love-brain mode: fully activated.
