The First Senior Sister Is Weak and Helpless - Chapter 9
When Feng Yang returned, the entire Xiaoyao Peak was as quiet as if there was no one there at all.
After a bit of investigation, she discovered that Mu Yao was currently in secluded cultivation, though looking at the chaotic spiritual energy around the Jiexue Pavilion, it did not seem to be going particularly smoothly.
However, after weighing her options, Feng Yang knew that the ten-thousand-year-old cicada shell she had gone through so much trouble to bring back could not wait much longer, and she needed to find her Martial Senior as soon as possible to process it.
Consequently, Feng Yang headed directly to Alchemy Peak, but as soon as she arrived, she heard a deafening explosion.
There was also a tiny person crawling out from a pile of ashes. The little one looked to be around four or five years old, and at this moment, her purple dress was completely covered in ash, with her face blackened as well.
“Senior Sister Nan You, you failed again.” The little one’s voice was exceptionally pleasant to the ear.
Feng Yang glanced over with curiosity, feeling that the little one’s aura was quite familiar, before realizing that this was none other than the little draftee she had brought back.
“You have grown this big already.”
“Who do you think I am doing this for? It is all for the First Senior Sister. If she were not so delicate and frail, would I need to run these experiments over and over again?” Nan You retorted.
Ah Jiu wiped her small face. “Fine, then when will you take me to see the Senior Sister? You have already drawn so much of my blood, so you are not allowed to go back on your word.”
Feng Yang raised an eyebrow slightly, though she understood the situation shortly after. Her little disciple was born with a spiritual body, and her blood made an exceptionally fine material for concocting pills.
Nan You was also wholly devoted to Yaoyao, so after thinking about it, Feng Yang let the matter drop and decided not to pursue it further.
Seeing that her little disciple was getting along quite well within the sect, Feng Yang left first to attend to her proper business.
Afterward, she headed once more to the highest point of Alchemy Peak, where an antique pavilion stood almost entirely obscured by clouds and mist, surrounded by various kinds of spiritual plants planted in the open space before it.
“Senior Sister?” Feng Yang landed directly, but before she could say anything else, she saw a dagger flying straight at her.
“Wait.” A cold feminine voice came from the alchemy room. “Stand right there and do not move. If you come inside, I am afraid you will be poisoned to death.”
This instruction Feng Yang was willing to follow. The reason why her Martial Senior always lived alone on top of this peak was simply because the spiritual plants she cultivated possessed bizarre and peculiar medicinal properties, and on top of that, she loved to cross-breed and cultivate them herself.
The spiritual plants growing in her courtyard, even if they shared the same names as those in books, might have completely different medicinal effects. Nan You, as her closing disciple, was naturally just like her, though in Feng Yang’s eyes, Nan You was still somewhat too green.
“The shell and cicada garment of the ten-thousand-year-old cicada. I only need half of the inner core and half of the blood as medicine guides.” Feng Yang was afraid that Fu Yan really would make her wait outside for three whole days and nights, by which time the ten-thousand-year-old cicada would be dead and gone.
“Alive?” As her words faded, a woman in white appeared before her, looking somewhat pale in complexion.
Feng Yang looked at her. “Senior Sister, why are you increasingly looking like a ghost?”
Fu Yan gave her a look of disdain. “I just consumed a few pills, and it seems I miscalculated the dosage slightly. What is so strange about having a few aftereffects?”
“It is you who are increasingly looking like a demon, reeking of a murderous aura all over.”
“If entering the demonic path means I can slaughter demons, then I am not entirely opposed to it.” Feng Yang smiled.
“Hand it over. The ten-thousand-year-old cicada, is that for your little disciple?” Fu Yan had seen Ah Jiu a few times; while her cultivation might not necessarily allow her to discern Ah Jiu’s physique, her medical skills certainly could.
“Naturally, you cannot keep anything from Senior Sister. Exactly so.”
“Come get it three days later.” With that, Fu Yan vanished once again, even shutting the door right in her face to decline visitors.
Having been turned away with a closed door, Feng Yang rubbed her nose. “Fine then.”
Never mind, she already knew that everyone in the sect possessed such a foul temper.
Feng Yang turned around, preparing to go see her own little disciple.
Ah Jiu had just been tidying up with Yue Yue and gotten cleaned up. Holding a small whip and humming a little tune, she was just about to go off to play when she suddenly saw a woman in red appear right before her.
This person looked somewhat unfamiliar, and she carried an aura that made Ah Jiu feel a bit fearful.
Raising her head to look at Feng Yang, her bright, clear eyes held a mixture of curiosity and apprehension. She took two steps backward, watching Feng Yang vigilantly.
Feng Yang restrained her aura slightly, squatted down, and patted the little one’s head. “Your name is Wen Jiu?”
Ah Jiu nodded obediently. “The senior sisters and senior brothers call me Ah Jiu.”
“Ah Jiu, such a good girl. You have grown up.”
Hearing those words, the little one suddenly tilted her head and asked, “Are you Master?”
“Indeed. How did Ah Jiu guess it?”
“Senior Sister said that once Master returned, she would teach Ah Jiu how to cultivate.” Ah Jiu blinked her big eyes and spoke.
“You want to cultivate so badly?” Feng Yang asked with a smile.
“If Ah Jiu can cultivate, will she be able to help Senior Sister cure her illness?”
Although she could not see Mu Yao, the little one still kept her in her heart, otherwise she would not have pestered Nan You every single day, begging her to take her to see Mu Yao.
“If you want to cure Senior Sister’s illness, you will have to work very hard. Even Master cannot cure your Senior Sister’s illness.” Feng Yang had not expected her to be so sensible at such a tender age.
“Alright, then can Master take Ah Jiu to see Senior Sister?” The little one looked pleadingly at Feng Yang, tugging on the corner of her robe with an expression of extreme longing and expectation.
Seeing that look, Feng Yang chuckled softly, scooped her up into her arms, and said, “Call me Master, and I will take you to find Senior Sister.”
“Master!” The little one called out as sweetly as could be.
However, had Yue Yue or Nan You been around to witness this, they would certainly have known that whenever this little creature had a favor to ask, she could be as sweet as honey, but when she wanted nothing, she was as mischievous as they came.
The entirety of Alchemy Peak had nearly been burned down by her fire on multiple occasions, and whenever questioned, she would simply claim she was just curious and accidentally set a fire.
Feng Yang brought little Ah Jiu to the Jiexue Pavilion. As soon as they arrived outside the pavilion, Feng Yang sensed a surge of turbulent spiritual energy.
Frowning slightly, she whisked Ah Jiu along and flew rapidly toward the cold spring.
There they saw Mu Yao sitting within the cold spring, caught between ice and fire, with flames erupting from her body at one moment while the entire cold spring froze solid at the next.
Painful wails kept escaping Mu Yao’s lips.
Seeing this from the side, Ah Jiu became frantically worried. “Master, what is wrong with Senior Sister? Is she going to die?”
A trace of tearfulness laced the little one’s voice.
Feng Yang cast a protective barrier around her. “Talk of dying and more dying. With Master here, of course your Senior Sister is not going to die.”
After saying that, Feng Yang walked to the edge of the cold spring, channeling a stream of spiritual energy directly into Mu Yao’s glabella, before placing a hand upon her shoulder.
“Focus your mind, circulate your Qi, gather the water spiritual energy within your body into your spiritual mansion, and then run your meridians in reverse.” Feng Yang said in a deep voice to Mu Yao.
Mu Yao, who had just been on the verge of losing control and straying into a deviation, was instantly pulled back.
Following Feng Yang’s instructions, streams of water spiritual energy continuously poured into her body, flooding her meridians. Because they were running in reverse through her meridians, Mu Yao still felt an extreme, all-encompassing agony throughout her entire body.
Inside the barrier, listening to Mu Yao’s painful groans and sensing those volatile spiritual energies, Ah Jiu did not know what Master was doing to Senior Sister, knowing only that Senior Sister looked extraordinarily painful.
To the little one, this Master whom she had only met once did not yet command her full trust, and she even suspected that Master was the one causing Senior Sister so much pain.
The little one beat against the barrier, crying and calling out for Senior Sister as she wept.
Perhaps due to her extreme anxiety, the surrounding spiritual energy all rushed frantically toward her body as well.
Feng Yang lifted her gaze and took a look, genuinely astonished to the utmost degree.
It seemed she really had taken in two extraordinary disciples.
Raising her hand to release a stream of spiritual energy, she reinforced the barrier, cutting off the spiritual energy surrounding Ah Jiu.
After doing so, she earnestly set about clearing Mu Yao’s meridians.
“Master, my eyes hurt so much, it hurts!” Mu Yao could hardly bear it anymore as the fire spiritual energy surged madly toward her eyes.
Feng Yang sighed softly, knowing her eldest disciple was destined to be tormented by the fire spiritual energy carried within that demonic seed for the rest of her life.
Having had no other choice back then, she could only seal the majority of the fire spiritual energy that had integrated into Mu Yao’s body right onto her eyes, yet a portion of it would still become active from time to time, triggering a clash between the two different attributes of spiritual energy within her body.
Hearing her eldest disciple’s painful cries, Feng Yang had no choice but to channel even more spiritual energy, once again suppressing the fire spiritual energy sealed in Mu Yao’s eyes.
Simultaneously, Mu Yao continuously absorbed the freezing chill within the cold spring, breaking through to the Earth Soul Realm in a single instant.
The Earth Soul Realm at nineteen years of age, and in all her years of traveling outside the sect, Feng Yang had never heard of any disciple reaching the Earth Soul Realm by nineteen.
Yet her eldest disciple’s entire cultivation base had been forced out of her precisely by the torment of the fire spiritual energy.
For a moment, Feng Yang felt rather complex emotions. If possible, she naturally wished that her eldest disciple could live a carefree life like ordinary disciples, cultivating step by step and being able to witness the mountains, rivers, flowers, birds, insects, and fish of this world.
She did not need to possess such innate talent, and having enough cultivation to preserve her life would suffice.
Yet when she found Mu Yao, she was already like this, and Feng Yang fancied herself capable of entering reincarnation, yet she could not cure her own disciple.
Fu Yan considered herself the number one alchemist in the world under heaven, yet she could not cure Mu Yao’s eyes either.
The fire carried within the demonic seed was the karmic fire from the deep heart of the Demonic Clan, quite unlike ordinary flames, and the Demonic Realm’s karmic fire was the most scorching flame in existence, impossible to extinguish with ordinary means.
All Mu Yao could do was slowly purge it from her body.
However, this process was not only extremely agonizing, but also carried a constant risk of falling into a demonic deviation and perishing if one was even slightly careless.
Having broken through to the Earth Soul Realm, the water spiritual energy within her body grew exceptionally excited, which in turn stimulated the fire spiritual energy resting inside Mu Yao’s body.
Just as Feng Yang was also running out of options, a figure in white suddenly appeared. She immobilized Mu Yao in place, produced several silver needles to seal Mu Yao’s heart meridians, and then dropped more silver needles directly onto Mu Yao’s eyes.
Inside the barrier, Ah Jiu cried as she watched all of this, and then saw Mu Yao cough up a mouthful of dark, black blood.
The little one genuinely cried herself into a frenzy, tears and snot streaming down together, messing up her pretty clothes completely.
With Fu Yan’s assistance, Mu Yao finally regained consciousness, and the pain in her eyes subsided.
Though she could not see, she could sense the aura of the people around her.
She attempted to stand up to express her gratitude to Feng Yang and Fu Yan, but the moment she rose, her entire body lacked any strength.
Logically speaking, she should not have been like this right after breaking through a realm, but Fu Yan had temporarily sealed her meridians, leaving Mu Yao at present weaker than an ordinary mortal.
