The Film Queen’s Little Bunny Wife - Chapter 55
This was Tu Jiaojiao’s first time seeing juvenile Red-crowned Cranes, and likewise, these little birds were seeing her for the first time.
Both sides felt both curiosity and nervousness.
After a stiff stalemate, the kitten walked over with an elegant gait and began to herd the fledgling cranes with their patchy feathers towards Tu Jiaojiao’s feet, like driving small chicks.
Its inner voice was still saying: “Let’s play together, what are you standing around for?”
Tu Jiaojiao shot it a grateful look and started playing with the little Red-crowned Cranes.
The kitten was truly different after overcoming its hurdle. The cub, all by itself, was promoted to the most free and happiest small animal in the Red-crowned Crane habitat.
Its own crane mother was already the most protective and outgoing one there, so the other cranes wouldn’t even think about bullying it.
But the young zookeeper didn’t know this in his eyes, it was his own Red-crowned Cranes abducting a poor little cat. However, for the sake of the cranes’ mental health, he could only abet the crime.
To compensate the kitten, he spent a considerable amount of his bonus to give the cat extra food and applied for an additional fee for enrichment, trying to make the cat’s life happier, hoping it would be so content it would forget to leave.
If it weren’t for its elder sister crane being a sensible leader, it would have been spoiled rotten and completely unruly long ago.
The recent birth of juvenile Red-crowned Cranes had diverted some of the elder crane’s heavy maternal love, and the cub was also very happy.
Sometimes, it would even indulge the fluffy little cranes to chirp around it. Whenever that happened, its tail would uncontrollably swish back and forth, tempting the little cranes to run left one moment and right the next.
After spending half a day with the Red-crowned Cranes, Tu Jiaojiao heard many amusing stories, mostly about tourists who got over excited and made fools of themselves, and a small number were petty gossip between the cranes themselves.
Arranging to meet again next time they had a chance, Tu Jiaojiao bid farewell to the Red-crowned Cranes and went to meet Ling Hanyan, whose activities had concluded.
“Jiaojiao, Director Li is planning to go to another city the day after tomorrow. Do you want to come along?” Ling Hanyan was driving seriously on the way back, as she hadn’t brought a driver today. She remembered this matter and asked Tu Jiaojiao softly.
She didn’t turn her head to look at her, her gaze fixed straight ahead on the road.
Ling Hanyan was very cautious and serious when driving; she hadn’t received a single deduction on her license in all the years since she got it.
Tu Jiaojiao thought for a moment and replied, “No, I’m staying home to look after Dabai and the others.”
Ling Hanyan nodded, still looking straight ahead, but with a slight frown: “Okay, I’ll be back in a few days anyway, and I don’t want you to take a plane.”
It seemed she remembered the time they went to Hainan and how miserable Tu Jiaojiao was traveling in her rabbit form, and she didn’t want her to go through that hassle again.
Tu Jiaojiao’s heart warmed, and she chuckled softly a few times, “If I went, I could take the plane in my human form.”
Ling Hanyan continued to ask, “Then do you want to go?”
“No, no, no.” Tu Jiaojiao shook her head like a rattle, stopping only when she felt her refusal might have been a bit too strong. Her voice softened as she quietly explained: “…It’s too boring.”
“Hahaha.” A smile touched Ling Hanyan’s lips, and her frown smoothed out, “Alright, then you wait for me to come home.”
While waiting at a red light, she turned her head to look at Tu Jiaojiao.
The glow of the setting sun shone on her face, enveloping the girl’s sleepy features in a warm light.
Opening her eyes and finding Ling Hanyan looking at her, Tu Jiaojiao smiled before closing her eyelashes again to continue feigning sleep.
Had she ever felt this satisfied because of such a scene?
Ling Hanyan thought carefully and finally came up with a negative answer in her heart.
Yes, only Tu Jiaojiao could make her feel this comfortable. Thank goodness for meeting her.
Taking advantage of Ling Hanyan being away, Tu Jiaojiao was at home, rolling up her sleeves, planning to catch all three furballs and wash them.
Coincidentally, Dabai, Xiaobai, and Marshmallow all the little animals in the house had white fur, so even a little bit of dirt was immediately noticeable.
Dabai and Xiaobai would lick each other’s fur, so their appearance was slightly better.
Marshmallow, the little rabbit, was the worst. When Tu Jiaojiao picked it up, she found that its back legs were a bit yellow, and the fur on its feet had also grown a little too long!
As a small rabbit spirit with the ability to communicate with animals, giving her fur balls a bath was much easier for her than for the average person.
Before the bath, after explaining that hot water was not for stew, and that they would get tasty treats after being washed and dried, the three fur balls were not so resistant.
The workload, however, was a bit large. Washing and blow drying them one by one took Tu Jiaojiao nearly two hours of effort.
But sitting on the sofa with the little creatures surrounding her, all smelling sweet and soft, was a huge comfort to her.
Just then, her phone rang. Seeing the caller’s name, she was surprised.
“Hello, Sister Mi, what can I do for you this afternoon?”
Although Minuoka had been with her sister for many years, she usually relayed messages through her sister, and didn’t contact Tu Jiaojiao directly very often.
Tu Jiaojiao asked carefully, afraid that something might have happened to her sister and she couldn’t contact her herself.
Fortunately, Sister Mi’s voice was normal, “Jiaojiao, I do have something to talk to you about today.”
Minuoka looked down at her expectant daughter, cleared her throat, and continued to ask, “Tu Mixuan got first place in her mid-term exam. I promised to bring her to play with you. When are you free?”
“I haven’t seen Xuanxuan in a long time either!” Tu Jiaojiao was excited, “I’m free right now. Where are you? I’ll come pick up Xuanxuan.”
“Let us come to you this time,” Minuoka sighed softly, “Mainly because Xuanxuan wants to play with Marshmallow.”
Tu Jiaojiao hissed softly, “Oh… Marshmallow is being kept at Yanyan’s place right now. I’ll have to discuss it with her first.”
Hanging up the phone, she texted Ling Hanyan.
【Yanyan, my niece wants to play with Marshmallow. Can I let her come to our house?】
【She’s my sister’s daughter, she’s only in kindergarten this year.】
Ling Hanyan quickly replied, 【Of course, this is your home too. You don’t need to ask me who you invite over.】
Tu Jiaojiao was very happy to receive the message, but secretly countered in her heart that even if it was her home, she still had to let Yanyan know who was coming that was basic respect!
In a little while, Sister Mi brought Tu Mixuan over.
Xuanxuan hadn’t seen her aunt in a long time. Carrying her backpack, she rushed over like a little cannonball and hugged Tu Jiaojiao tightly.
Her little eyes rolled around, observing the neighborhood as she asked, “Auntie, why did you move again?”
“Because Auntie is dating, and now lives with the person she loves.” Facing the little girl, Tu Jiaojiao found her own skin had thickened quite a bit.
Sure enough, the next second, Tu Mixuan’s face changed through several expressions envy, curiosity, and excitement.
“Is it a girl?” she asked very gossipy, her tone full of expectation.
Generally, when children talk about these kinds of topics, they wouldn’t ask this question. But Tu Mixuan herself came from a two mom family, so this was what she cared about most.
Tu Jiaojiao nodded.
“That’s good. I really don’t know how to talk to boys,” Tu Mixuan patted her chest, looking relieved.
Tu Jiaojiao smiled and rubbed the little curls on the child’s head twice, “You don’t need to worry about that she’s not home today.”
Back at the house, as soon as the door opened, they saw the three fur balls waiting by the door, having heard the noise.
Tu Mixuan had thought a little rabbit would be greeting her, but she didn’t expect two little kittens to be included as a bonus!
She immediately rushed into the room, urging Tu Jiaojiao to find her slippers, while her eyes were constantly fixed on the little animals.
Upon discovering the stranger, the fur balls also got scared, yelped a few times, and dashed inside.
Tu Mixuan looked closer and noticed something was off. She spoke up, “Auntie, why are you raising cats after not seeing you for a few days? What are the cats’ names?”
“Dabai and Xiaobai.” Tu Jiaojiao helped her change her shoes, then turned around and chastised Marshmallow, “It’s fine that they don’t know Xuanxuan, but Marshmallow, why are you hiding? It’s not like you haven’t met a kid before!”
Hearing this, the three fur balls drooped their ‘airplane ears’ and crept closer.
Tu Mixuan’s heart was racing. She tugged hard on Tu Jiaojiao’s sleeve, exclaiming in surprise, “Their names are the same as Ling Hanyan’s cats! And they look similar too!”
Hearing the name of the other owner, the three fur balls felt much friendlier toward the little girl and were no longer as scared as before, their eyes showing curiosity.
Oh no…
Tu Jiaojiao slapped her forehead, realizing she had only told her sister and Sister Mi about her relationship with Ling Hanyan, and Xuanxuan still knew nothing!
The thought that she had previously preached to Xuanxuan about how wonderful Ling Hanyan was, and that Xuanxuan had now become her fan, creating a thick filter of admiration for Yanyan, made her scalp tingle.
What if her niece thought she wasn’t good enough for Ling Hanyan? That was truly hair pulling for a rabbit.
“Xuanxuan…” Tu Jiaojiao steadied herself and pulled her to sit on the sofa, then swallowed and made a confession, “These are Yanyan’s cats…”
“What?” Tu Mixuan stopped petting the cat, slowly turning her head towards her aunt, completely stunned.
Better short pain than long pain. Let the storm rage on.
Tu Jiaojiao took a deep breath and laid all the cards on the table, “The person I’m dating is Ling Hanyan. This is her home, and the cats are her cats!”
The look of disappointment she had anticipated didn’t appear. Tu Mixuan’s face was only filled with happiness and excitement.
“Aaaahhh!! Auntie, you’re amazing!! No wonder you’ve been so busy and not home often who wouldn’t want to spend every day with Ling Hanyan?!”
Tu Mixuan’s filter had now spread from just Ling Hanyan to the entire room. She looked around, thinking everything was wonderfully good.
Now she wasn’t even interested in petting the cats anymore. She was as amazed as an outsider visiting a grand estate: “Is this Ling Hanyan’s cup? Is this the table she eats at? Aaaahhh, this is the cushion she leaned on!”
Tu Jiaojiao introduced things to her with a smile, and the atmosphere was very harmonious.
Only after touring the house did Tu Mixuan’s excitement somewhat calm down.
She clasped her hands over her heart, her face expectant, her eyes shining: “Auntie! Then you must be able to contact Yanyan, right? Can you let me talk to her?”
“Then you stay with me tonight. Yanyan probably won’t have time to contact me until the evening.”
In the evening, Ling Hanyan finished her work and returned to the hotel. As soon as she sat down, she initiated a video call with Tu Jiaojiao.
Unlike usual, two adorable little faces leaned into the screen today. The little girl in Jiaojiao’s arms must be Tu Mixuan.
Squinting slightly, Ling Hanyan spoke first, “Xuanxuan, is that you? Good evening. It’s nice to meet you for the first time.”
“It’s not the first time,” the little girl watched her with her face buried in the gaps between her fingers, finally speaking after a long pause, “I often send you private messages on Weibo. You always reply, ‘Thank you for your support and love’.”
