The Film Queen’s Little Bunny Wife - Chapter 26
Arriving at Yunshang Ju (Cloud Abode) once again, Tu Jiaojiao’s mood was vastly different from the last time.
For one, this time there was no awkwardness of not being able to get a table, and two, she didn’t bring a little third wheel.
Most importantly, Ling Hanyan was actually going to be there!
This thought kept spreading in her mind, and Tu Jiaojiao felt so happy, as if her whole body was floating on a cloud.
She arrived at the private room early to wait, feeling sweet inside. The academic style red miniskirt she wore complemented her fresh and pure aura, which seemed to be overflowing.
When Ling Hanyan extended the dinner invitation, she simply set the time and place before being called away, so Tu Jiaojiao couldn’t tell what role she was supposed to fill at this dinner.
Most likely, it was just a fan, a friend…
Thinking this, Tu Jiaojiao felt a little disheartened. Her personality wasn’t really the proactive type, so when she wanted to advance her relationship with Yanyan (Ling Hanyan), she felt somewhat constrained.
What the netizens sometimes said was quite right: away from the big screen, Yanyan’s personality was quiet and steady, like a retired veteran official.
In order to thicken the ambiguous atmosphere, even if it was just for her own satisfaction, it would be fine.
On the way, Tu Jiaojiao, as if by a phantom’s touch, bought a box of bright red, dripping fresh roses (or rambler roses) and held it in her arms. She specifically asked the shop owner not to spray any perfume on them.
This box of flowers had the natural scent of green grass, very clean and pure, making one want to secretly keep sniffing it exactly the feeling Ling Hanyan gave her.
Ling Hanyan arrived at Yunshang Ju on time. Although her expression was the usual aloof and indifferent one, only she knew how nervous she was inside.
Different from her usual casual attire, she was dressed up for this occasion.
Wearing a rose colored, pearlescent long dress, every step she took shimmered, making her look as beautiful as someone in a painting.
Anxiously, she pushed open the private room door. Tu Jiaojiao was already standing at the entrance, uninvited, waiting to greet her.
The girl had a cute smile on her face, holding an exquisite box of flowers in her arms, instantly making the feeling of distance vanish.
“What is the meaning of this?” Ling Hanyan asked, pointing to the roses.
Tu Jiaojiao shrank her neck. “I saw them on the way. They were very pretty, so I bought them first, thinking of giving them to you.”
Ling Hanyan accepted the box of flowers, feeling a bit strange, but still said, “…Thank you, Jiaojiao. They’re very beautiful.”
She had initiated the invitation, yet she was receiving a gift. Wasn’t something slightly off?
But Jiaojiao was her fan, so this must be her way of expressing her affection.
“Move over a little.” This time, instead of sitting opposite Tu Jiaojiao, Ling Hanyan, for some reason, felt that the spot next to the girl was very comfortable.
“Oh! Yes, yes!” Tu Jiaojiao was slightly surprised but obediently moved aside.
Today’s Yanyan seemed very different, but she couldn’t quite place how.
In the past, when they went out, they always occupied opposite sides, sitting face to face. Although she could see Ling Hanyan’s face every time she looked up, there was always a table between them.
Now… that distance had been shortened…
Ling Hanyan, you are so annoying. As soon as I see you, my eyes are imprisoned by you.
Now that we are so close, my soul is almost captivated by you.
Tu Jiaojiao’s mind was a mess, and while ordering, she couldn’t help but look at the person next to her.
Despite such strong hints, the other person seemed oblivious, scrolling through the tablet on her own, occasionally asking her, “Jiaojiao, do you want to eat brown sugar ciba (glutinous rice cake)?”
No matter what she asked, Tu Jiaojiao obediently nodded and said yes.
After a moment, a soft chuckle was heard.
Tu Jiaojiao looked up, and Ling Hanyan, without warning, reached out and pinched her cheek. “How much can two of us eat? This little girl has quite an appetite.”
“Mmm… then I’ll order a little less.”
She looked at Ling Hanyan intently, realizing that Yanyan was truly beautiful today.
Moreover, both of their dresses were in the red family, making them look quite a match when compared side by side.
There had been no agreement, yet it was such a coincidence. This realization made her visibly happy, with a smile filling her eyes.
While waiting for the food, Ling Hanyan couldn’t help but ask, “What are you so happy about, Jiaojiao?”
“Yanyan is finally eating with me,” Tu Jiaojiao blurted out. Then, feeling a bit silly, she looked at her timidly.
“But we’ve met many times already. Is there anything special about this one?” Ling Hanyan naturally lacked a sense of ceremony and genuinely didn’t understand.
A little hurt, Tu Jiaojiao’s eyes darkened. But when she looked up and saw Ling Hanyan’s genuinely puzzled expression, the gloom in her heart was dispelled again.
She answered in a soft voice, “It’s just different!”
Because only this time can I be sure that your feelings are the same as mine, and that you are serious about this meeting.
Tu Jiaojiao couldn’t recall what they ate that day; she only felt that the dishes Yanyan ordered were very much to her liking.
The two ate and chatted, and she felt very excited.
When they were almost full, they heard a commotion dog barking started downstairs and wouldn’t stop.
Tu Jiaojiao’s ability of ‘Beast Heart Communication’ had now developed to the point where she could distinguish the meaning of animal sounds; this was likely a form of hearing their inner thoughts.
She couldn’t resist stretching her ears to listen.
“You dead Poodle, what were you just doing!! Damn! That’s too much, I have to bite you to death today!!”
“Master, Master, save me! The stupid Husky is trying to eat me!”
“You dead Poodle, you shameless dog! How dare you do that while I was asleep! I’m a male dog! I’ll bite you to death! I told you a long time ago, one dog is enough in this house!”
“Master, save me, I just walked past them!”
It sounded like the Poodle, full of lecherous courage, had mounted the dozing Husky…
The Husky, woken up by the commotion, was furious and loudly cursed its shamelessness.
It howled and whined, trying to get its owner to stand up for it.
But the owner hadn’t seen what the Poodle had done and assumed the Husky was attacking the smaller dog without reason, so the owner beat the Husky up.
The Poodle kept saying ‘green tea’ things, flattering its owner, while the Husky whined miserably, howling towards the sky.
These two dogs were too funny, and Tu Jiaojiao couldn’t help but chuckle.
She glanced at Ling Hanyan and, finding her composed, continued to eavesdrop.
Downstairs, the situation had progressed to the point where the other owner noticed the two dogs’ strange behavior and was preparing to check the surveillance footage.
Seeing the rich changes in the girl’s expression next to her, clearly enjoying the drama, Ling Hanyan couldn’t help but ask, “Did the dogs say something?”
What!! Ling Hanyan, what are you saying? What do you know?!
Tu Jiaojiao snapped back to reality, her mind full of question marks, her face showing horror.
Recalling her older sister’s urgent warning not to expose her secret before the contract was signed, she awkwardly started to act: “Ah? What dogs?”
Ling Hanyan had long since silently digested the fact that Tu Jiaojiao had abilities beyond the ordinary, and she had blurted out the question without much thought.
She apologized earnestly: “I’m sorry, I didn’t know you can’t tell others what animals say.”
“Ah, well, not exactly! This, this isn’t what you think anyway!” Tu Jiaojiao hadn’t decided whether to admit it right there or firmly deny it, so her words were inevitably incoherent.
She was frantically grasping in her mind, wishing time would fast-forward madly!
I want to jump to the future and see how I handled this!
When did Ling Hanyan find out about my Beast Heart Communication ability? That shouldn’t be possible!!
After several mental detours, she finally decided that no, she had to firmly deny it!
So she shook her head like a rattle drum: “I, I don’t know what the Poodle and the Husky downstairs are arguing about!”
Ling Hanyan, however, simply said “Oh,” put down her chopsticks, and looked at her with an undisguised smile on her lips.
Tu Jiaojiao’s heart clenched, and she realized she had made a slip of the tongue.
Gasp! How did I know the dogs downstairs were a Poodle and a Husky!
It’s all those two dogs’ fault for their breed discrimination, constantly cueing the other’s breed when cursing!
A thousand thoughts flitted through her mind. Finally, she decided that perhaps she should just admit it, but only the part about Beast Heart Communication for now…
However, Ling Hanyan didn’t seem to want to end the conversation: “It’s okay if you can’t say. I really envy your ability to communicate with animals.”
“Does your rabbit usually say anything?” After a long pause, she continued to ask.
In Tu Jiaojiao’s mind popped up the daily ‘eating rabbit’ conversation records of Marshmallow, leaving her speechless for a moment.
Perhaps feeling it wasn’t right to have exposed someone else’s secret, belatedly realizing it wasn’t good behavior.
Ling Hanyan decided to compensate in another way. She gazed deeply at Tu Jiaojiao and, on her own accord, started to talk about her dreams.
“Jiaojiao, as an exchange, I’ll also tell you my secret.
I’ve had nightmares constantly since I was little. I’ve had all kinds of nightmares, and I remember them very clearly and deeply when I wake up. Sometimes the cold sweat would soak the sheets.”
No sooner had she said this than Tu Jiaojiao’s eyes filled with heartache.
Ling Hanyan paused. “If an ordinary person had nightmares day after day like that, they might become mentally unstable.
I was a little better; it only affected my social life slightly when I was young because my willpower was weak, and I couldn’t distinguish between the people in my dreams and those in reality.”
“Didn’t you try to find the cause?” Tu Jiaojiao bit her lower lip, her face displaying visible distress.
“I did, everything was normal.” Thinking of something happy, Ling Hanyan’s eyes curved in a smile.
“I’ve never told anyone this before. Starting from a certain day, a long haired white rabbit appeared in my dreams it looked exactly like your Marshmallow.
At first, it would help me escape from monsters. Later, it seemed to become stronger and could directly tear apart monsters to protect me.
As I grew up, the nightmares lessened, and I didn’t see the rabbit often anymore. That’s my regret.”
When the word ‘rabbit’ came out of Ling Hanyan’s mouth, Tu Jiaojiao’s heart started to race. Her intuition told her this matter was related to herself.
And sure enough! The first time she showed Ling Hanyan a picture of a rabbit, it was a picture of her own rabbit form!
She remembered Yanyan had been a little agitated then and asked many questions. So that was why!
Like land that had been dry for months suddenly welcoming a sweet rain, a feeling of sweetness spread through her heart.
In her previous life, she remembered occasionally having a continuous, dramatic dream. Each time, she dreamt of herself being in danger, attempting to clear an ‘Infinite Flow’ scenario.
Furthermore, in the dream, she seemed to be raising a tiny human, a little girl whose face she could never see and whose voice she could never hear.
At the time, she hadn’t taken it seriously, thinking a dream was just a dream.
Later, when she fell in love at first sight with the popular movie queen Ling Hanyan from three hundred years ago, she also thought it was just a fleeting infatuation.
But now she realized she wasn’t the only one holding onto something; their lives were intertwined!
This realization excited Tu Jiaojiao, causing all the spiritual energy in her body to rush toward her heart. She mysteriously felt that the two worlds were connected.
Her spiritual energy began to surge again, but this time Tu Jiaojiao didn’t desperately try to suppress the power.
Transforming in front of Ling Hanyan was already safe for her.
So, Ling Hanyan saw a wondrous sight next.
The girl was grinning, her pair of buck teeth incredibly cute. Then, something slowly started to grow on top of her head…
It was white, covered in fine downy fur, with long hairs at the tips swaying slightly.
A pair of Angora rabbit ears appeared on Tu Jiaojiao’s head!
Even a cool headed woman like Ling Hanyan was startled, but when Tu Jiaojiao looked at her, her eyes held the same trust and affection as always.
Consequently, any thoughts of the strange and supernatural that had yet to form in her mind quickly lost their footing.
Ling Hanyan only felt that Tu Jiaojiao was adorable. How could there be such cute rabbit ears in the world!
Both in terms of shape and texture, they were an enlarged version of the guardian rabbit from her dreams.
“Jiaojiao, your ears are out,” she reminded her softly, and even reached out to gently touch them.
Ooh! They’re warm!
The rabbit fur is so soft… I want to stroke them a couple more times.
“Ying…” Tu Jiaojiao couldn’t help but flinch. Her ears were the most sensitive.
She had only felt hot all over due to the spiritual energy surge.
After being touched by Ling Hanyan, that restless heat transformed into an unbearable, unscratchable itch!
She even made a strange sound in her throat! Help me!
She desperately buried her head in her arms, trying to save face.
However, Ling Hanyan seemed possessed. Evil thoughts took over her brain. Tempted by the Moon Rabbit, she reached out a guilty hand toward its poor ears, her gaze cloudy, while muttering, “Jiaojiao is so cute. Your rabbit ears are out.”
“Don’t… don’t touch them anymore…” Even without seeing the ears on her head, Tu Jiaojiao knew they must have been stroked by Yanyan until they were a pinkish-white color.
This is too much! This time, it’s actually ears that grew out!
Last time, the short rabbit tail could be easily hidden, but ears can’t be concealed…
But Ling Hanyan had rarely found something so interesting and was now deeply mesmerized.
Her mind was completely hazy she wanted to do nothing but stroke the ears.
She even instinctively changed her posture, gathering Tu Jiaojiao into her embrace.
She lowered her head, kissed the rabbit ears twice, and her cool tongue flickered against them intermittently.
“Yanyan, Yanyan, stop…” Tu Jiaojiao called her name, her entire body trembling.
Things seemed to be heading in an indescribable direction.
Yanyan’s eyes looked terrifying, as if she were about to bite off her ears and devour them.
Such strong aggression and invasiveness had never appeared in her before… it was like she was possessed!
In a flash, Tu Jiaojiao remembered what Sister Mi had told her.
The first time Sister Mi saw her elder sister in her half-rabbit, half-human form, she was mesmerized by the sight; her mind was blank except for the urge to possess her.
Could Ling Hanyan have fallen into the same state?!
No!
Sister Mi and her sister were dating at the time; it was a consensual relationship.
But what was this considered?
Taking advantage of someone, relying on her half-demon form to take liberties with Ling Hanyan?
She couldn’t let her continue, or else when Yanyan woke up, they might not even be friends anymore.
The itch spreading from her ears made her entire body weak and soft. Facing the bestial Ling Hanyan, she truly had no strength to resist.
Her gaze fell on the box of flowers on the table. Tu Jiaojiao focused on the thorns on the rose stems.
The florist seemed to prefer this natural, wild style and, thinking no one would take the flowers out of the box, hadn’t removed the thorns from the stems.
“Yanyan, please let me go for a moment…” she said, her voice filled with a sob.
Although the latter’s gaze was hazy, she complied with her request.
Escaping the embrace, Tu Jiaojiao reached out and grabbed the flower box. She picked out a supple branch with less rigid thorns, endured the pain, and handed the flower stem to Ling Hanyan with a trembling hand.
“Yanyan, this is for you.”
Ling Hanyan accepted it without suspicion, a smile on her face. Her little rabbit was giving her a gift.
However, just as she took the flower stem, a sharp pain struck, and her hand was pierced.
The pain slightly eased her mesmerized state; her expression became confused, seemingly unsure of what she wanted to do or what she had just been doing.
Tu Jiaojiao saw that it worked. Ignoring the pain in her palm, she picked out a few more roses with less sharp thorns and handed them to Ling Hanyan with a shaky smile.
The latter seemed to know this was a bad thing that would make her hand bleed and hesitated to take them.
Tu Jiaojiao had no choice but to take a deep breath and deliberately made her voice charmingly sweet: “Yānyān, don’t you like the flowers I gave you?”
Sure enough, the passive enchantment skill worked again.
Ling Hanyan’s gaze immediately became resolute again. She grabbed the thorny flower branches, uncaring that her dress was torn.
