The Film Queen’s Little Bunny Wife - Chapter 19
As they sat in the nanny van, preparing to head back, Ling Hanyan had already removed the dazzling makeup from her face and taken off the pale silver, ethereal gown.
She changed into a comfortable and casual T-shirt, a hoodie jacket, and wide-leg trousers.
Dressing up elaborately when facing the limelight was an actor’s professional requirement, but privately, dressing as comfortably as possible was an act of self-care for one’s body and mind.
As she was getting ready, Xiao Liang, who was arranging their belongings, exclaimed, “Sister Yan! I left the signed photo albums on the seat!”
The event organizer had prepared many stray animal themed photo albums for each celebrity this time, asking them to sign them so they could be raffled off on Weibo to increase the event’s visibility.
Ling Hanyan was assigned twenty books, each quite heavy, making it a bit difficult for Xiao Liang to carry them alone.
“Let’s go get them together,” Ling Hanyan jumped out of the car and walked with her back toward the venue. Afraid of being recognized, she casually put on a pair of sunglasses.
The items were behind the stage. The venue was now mostly empty, with most people moving around clearly being staff members.
To avoid a commotion, the two sneaked in through a side door. The items were still safely where they had been left.
As she passed the stage curtain, Ling Hanyan glanced over, her eyebrows furrowing.
She saw that Tu Jiaojiao was still sitting in her seat, or more accurately, huddled there all alone, like a stray animal abandoned by its owner.
Although Tu Jiaojiao was looking down, making it impossible to see the expression on her face, her actions arms crossed, back slightly hunched, and hands covering her abdomen indicated that she was feeling very unwell at the moment.
Combining this with the reason why she was reluctant to move from her seat, Ling Hanyan’s pupils contracted. She concluded that Tu Jiaojiao had suddenly gotten her period during the charity gala, soiled her seat, and was thus too embarrassed to move.
Her personality was just like this: timid, gentle, and afraid of bothering others… which was why she was stuck there until this hour.
“Sister Yan?” Xiao Liang leaned over, trying to see what Ling Hanyan had noticed that made her look so unhappy.
However, Ling Hanyan pressed her back with one hand, blocking her view, thinking that Tu Jiaojiao’s skin was as thin as paper and she definitely wouldn’t want more people to discover her predicament.
“It’s nothing, let’s hurry back,” Ling Hanyan said, hugging half of the photo albums and walking straight ahead.
After putting the items back in the car, she did not get in.
Standing by the car door, she instructed, “Xiao Liang, I want to buy a new phone case and wander around here by myself for a bit. You take the things back and you can clock off early today.”
“Okay, Sister Yan! Be careful!” Xiao Liang didn’t suspect a thing, as there were indeed many stalls selling digital accessories nearby.
Watching the nanny van leave, Ling Hanyan sighed and first headed to a convenience store.
Tu Jiaojiao’s rabbit fur had not yet receded, and her clothes were unnaturally bulging. She silently prayed in her heart that her sister would not encounter traffic and would arrive quickly.
Feeling someone approach, her heart lifted, and she immediately wanted to complain and act spoiled to her sister about the day’s troubles.
Upon seeing the person clearly, she froze.
How could it be Ling Hanyan!! And a Ling Hanyan without makeup, completely bare-faced!!
Yanyan, do you know how devastating you look without makeup? Your skin is so soft and flawless, it makes me want to kiss and touch it!
Ling Hanyan felt her intense gaze, her ears warming up. Without a word, she handed over a bag. “This is for you. For sudden situations like this, you should just tell a female staff member, you silly girl.”
“Didn’t you already give me a gift today?” Tu Jiaojiao asked, hugging the plastic bag with a confused look.
Ling Hanyan replied, “I didn’t know which brand you prefer, so I bought the one I usually use.”
Opening it, she saw several packs of sanitary pads, a large roll of toilet paper, unscented sanitary wipes, and even disposable underwear at the bottom!!
Yanyan thought the reason I was sitting there, afraid to move, was because I got my period!
Ahhh! Socially dead twice in one day, I can’t live anymore!
The blood rushed entirely to her head; this was even more embarrassing than when Yanyan mistook her for her sister just now!
Tu Jiaojiao started stumbling over her words, stammering an explanation, “No, Yanyan… I…”
However, Ling Hanyan’s eyes were full of compassion. She raised a hand and gently patted Tu Jiaojiao’s head, her eyes smiling as she said, “Go to the restroom and clean up quickly. This is a girl’s natural physiological phenomenon, there’s no need to be shy.”
Tu Jiaojiao: “…”
With Yanyan’s soothing pats, she relaxed considerably, and the spiritual power inside her body finally stabilized and stopped running wild.
Calming down, she realized that if she went to the restroom, transformed into her rabbit form, and completed one circulation of her cultivation, she might be able to suppress the rabbit fur on her skin.
But what about her tail?
The bodycon skirt would definitely bulge into a small bump, and there would be no way to explain it…
As she spoke, she unconsciously reached back and touched her tail.
Ling Hanyan followed her movement with her eyes and suddenly had a realization.
She immediately took off her hoodie jacket without a second thought, tied it around Tu Jiaojiao’s waist, and comforted her, “Now you’ll be fine.”
With the tail covered, Tu Jiaojiao would now dare to stand up.
She was both surprised and moved.
If she really did have her period, Yanyan didn’t mind her possibly getting the jacket dirty!
Wuwuwu, Ling Hanyan, why are you so kind!
She didn’t refuse Ling Hanyan’s kindness, her cheeks blushing and radiating heat. “Th-Then I’ll go to the restroom first.”
“I’ll go with you.” Ling Hanyan’s mind flashed back to the image of Tu Jiaojiao sadly clutching her stomach earlier. Maybe the young girl was also suffering from menstrual cramps, which might make walking difficult.
After saying that, she helped Tu Jiaojiao up, covering for her and using her body to shield her from the probing eyes of the staff.
Tu Jiaojiao was extremely nervous the whole way. While she no longer had to worry about her restless rabbit tail, Ling Hanyan was helping her, and the parts covered by the jacket were growing fine, dense rabbit fur. Her arm might even be a bit thicker, and the feel would certainly be different than usual.
If Ling Hanyan asked about it, she truly wouldn’t know how to explain.
Fortunately, after noticing the strange feel, Ling Hanyan only suspected that Tu Jiaojiao had added a lining under her suit jacket and didn’t say anything more.
The venue’s facilities were excellent, and the restroom was only a few steps away.
“I’ll wait for you outside.” Ling Hanyan left after seeing Tu Jiaojiao enter the stall.
How to cultivate quickly in a public restroom? Waiting online, it’s urgent.
Tu Jiaojiao thought for a moment. She first lined the toilet lid with toilet paper, then took off her clothes one by one, folded them and placed them on top. Finally, she spread out Ling Hanyan’s jacket, creating a relatively safe environment for herself.
Then, transforming into her rabbit form, she lay down on the jacket, concentrating her attention to draw in the spiritual energy of heaven and earth to cultivate…
Tu Jiaojiao had been inside for nearly ten minutes and hadn’t come out, making Ling Hanyan a little worried.
She knocked on the door and asked, “Jiaojiao, are you done? Do you need anything?”
Tu Jiaojiao’s shy and tired voice came from inside: “Almost, Yanyan, please wait outside for a bit.”
Withdrawing the last wisp of spiritual power that had been surging wildly through her body, Tu Jiaojiao finally breathed a sigh of relief.
She transformed into human form, put her clothes back on one by one, hugged Ling Hanyan’s jacket, and walked out of the restroom.
Ling Hanyan noticed her messy hair and slightly disheveled clothes and was a bit confused.
But every girl’s physiological symptoms were different; perhaps Tu Jiaojiao had just suffered through severe menstrual cramps…
Thinking this, she felt a pang of sympathy. She refused Tu Jiaojiao’s attempt to return the jacket. “Keep wearing it for now. When I touched your hand just now, it felt a little cold. The venue’s temperature was set for when there were many people, and it is indeed a bit chilly now.”
A flush spread over Tu Jiaojiao’s face, and she nodded obediently.
Yanyan’s jacket carried her faint fragrance. Being wrapped in it made the little rabbit feel very satisfied and relaxed.
“How are you getting back later?” Ling Hanyan asked as they walked out of the venue together.
“My sister is coming to pick me up.”
Ling Hanyan nodded, pulling Tu Jiaojiao toward the nearby bubble tea shop. “Then I’ll wait with you for a while.”
“Isn’t that troublesome for you?”
“I’m fine.”
Tu Jiaojiao shook her head, “I’m all better, my stomach doesn’t hurt anymore!”
“Even so, I’ll wait with you for a bit.”
The two found a secluded corner and sat facing each other.
Ling Hanyan hadn’t completely removed the sparkly makeup on her face, and the small sequins occasionally showed their presence when she spoke.
Tu Jiaojiao couldn’t help but stare at them.
Ling Hanyan paused in her actions, looking puzzled. “Jiaojiao, you looked at me like that the first time we met. We’ve met so many times now, don’t you get tired of it?”
“No way!” Tu Jiaojiao argued with great spirit, “Yanyan’s makeup and clothes are always different, so I see something new every time!”
Seeing that she genuinely didn’t seem to be forcing herself, Ling Hanyan finally relaxed. “Then suit yourself.”
Although she said she was waiting with Tu Jiaojiao, Ling Hanyan wasn’t idle.
She was looking at the script on her iPad. The director had sent her some revised segments to memorize, mainly to supplement previously filmed plot points. Because of the time that had passed, her mind was a little confused for a moment.
The tranquil moment, blended with the sweet and sour fruit tea, was being sipped by Tu Jiaojiao, little by little.
The phone rang.
Tu Jiaojiao fumbled to answer it. On the other end was her sister’s anxious voice: “Jiaojiao, I just got to the center of the venue, but they’ve cleared everyone out and even locked the doors. Where are you right now?!”
“The bubble tea shop across the street. I-I’ll be right out!”
“Yanyan, my sister is here,” Tu Jiaojiao said, looking reluctantly at Ling Hanyan, clutching the heavy gift bag she had given her today.
Ling Hanyan was engrossed in reading the script. Without lifting her head, and in a slightly unromantic manner, she said, “Mmm, you go ahead. I haven’t finished my drink yet, so I’ll sit here alone for a while longer. Bye, Jiaojiao.”
After a few seconds, sensing that the girl was still standing there, she looked up.
It turned out Tu Jiaojiao had taken off the hoodie jacket and was trying to hand it back to her.
That wouldn’t do. The sun had set, and the sky was overcast. There was still a breeze. What if her stomach started hurting again?
She stopped Tu Jiaojiao’s action and said, “Keep the jacket for now. You can give it back to me next time we meet.”
Next time? Will there be a next time we meet?
As expected, Tu Jiaojiao’s eyes lit up again, stars sparkling within them.
Having already learned to read Tu Jiaojiao’s mind, Ling Hanyan smiled and said softly, “Didn’t you say you wanted to treat me to a meal at the very beginning? We haven’t had a proper meal at a restaurant yet. Let’s arrange that for next time.”
The wind chimes on the shop door rang. A graceful woman, who looked eight parts like Tu Jiaojiao but with a more mature demeanor, walked in.
This time, there was no mistake; that must be Tu Jiaojiao’s sister.
So, without waiting for the girl to say anything more, Ling Hanyan pinched her shoulder and turned her around.
She whispered into Tu Jiaojiao’s ear, “Your sister is here to pick you up. Hurry up and go.”
The ride home was silent. Tu Jiaojiao was feeling guilty, but Ling Hanyan’s hoodie provided her with comfort. Upon returning home, her sister asked with a veiled expression, “She didn’t find out you’re a rabbit, did she?!”
