“Miss, we’ve found Miss Wen.”
Lu Yiran paused with the pen in her hand. She looked up at the person and said, “Mhm, you may leave.”
After the door closed, Lu Yiran capped her pen, stood up, and walked to the floor to ceiling window. She chuckled softly as she watched the bustling traffic below.
“Wen Shiyan, I finally found you.”
Lost in thought about something, Wen Shiyan, who was cutting vegetables with a knife, suddenly slipped, and the blade cut her finger.
Blood seeped from the wound. Feeling the pain, Wen Shiyan snapped back to reality, put down the knife, went to the living room, and found a bandage to cover the cut.
【Since you moved here, nothing good has happened. Either you get cut by a knife or you bump into the corner of a table… How about we move somewhere else?】
Wen Shiyan did not speak. She had a selfish reason for moving here. She couldn’t see Lu Yiran yet, but even though Lu Yiran didn’t know she lived here, she wanted to live close to her, as if that would mean she and Lu Yiran hadn’t truly separated.
A knock came from behind the door. Wen Shiyan was about to open it, but she stopped herself firmly. No one knew she lived here, so she couldn’t open the door directly.
Wen Shiyan cautiously walked to the door and looked out through the peephole. It was pitch black outside, and there was no one there.
Lu Yiran leaned against her car, looking up at the building where Wen Shiyan lived. Only after the light in Wen Shiyan’s room turned off did Lu Yiran leave.
In the car, the driver asked Lu Yiran, “Miss, are we not going to see Miss Wen now?”
Lu Yiran shook her head, looking at the photo in her hand. She had commissioned someone to draw it after Wen Shiyan left because Wen Shiyan had left nothing behind related to her. Lu Yiran had desperately recalled Wen Shiyan’s appearance to create this unique photo she now held.
Everyone around her had forgotten Wen Shiyan’s existence, but only she remembered. Sometimes, Lu Yiran wondered if Wen Shiyan was just a figment of her imagination. But the memories and time she shared with Wen Shiyan were so real that she had held onto them until now.
And now, she had finally found her again.
Lu Yiran said to the driver, “It’s not time yet. It wouldn’t be good to scare her.”
Lu Yiran clutched the photo tightly. She had waited this long; a little more time wouldn’t hurt.
Wen Shiyan turned off the light and asked the system, “Do you think Yiran will find me?”
【Don’t worry, the female lead won’t remember you.】
Wen Shiyan didn’t know whether to feel relieved or not. She closed her eyes and stopped talking to the system. She had an audition tomorrow. Hopefully, nothing would happen.
The audition was successful, which was within Wen Shiyan’s expectations. But Lu Yiran’s appearance was not.
Wen Shiyan looked at the Lu Yiran in front of her with conflicted emotions. At that moment, she hoped Lu Yiran remembered her, yet also wished Lu Yiran had forgotten her.
Seeing Lu Yiran remain silent, Wen Shiyan hardened her heart and said to Lu Yiran, “Stay away from me.” Wen Shiyan said this while increasing the distance between them.
But Lu Yiran seemed not to have heard her words, continuing to approach her and saying, “Jiejie (Sister), I finally found you.”
Wen Shiyan pulled away from Lu Yiran’s outstretched hand and yelled at her, “Lu Yiran! I’m not joking!” Wen Shiyan immediately regretted her outburst and lowered her head. This was the first time she had yelled at Lu Yiran; she shouldn’t have done that.
But why, when she was the one who left Lu Yiran first, was Lu Yiran still coming to find her? Why wouldn’t Lu Yiran just listen to her…
Feeling Lu Yiran’s warm palm against her face, Wen Shiyan placed her hand over Lu Yiran’s. Tears rolled down.
“Wen Shiyan, I like you. Can you promise not to leave this time?” Lu Yiran desperately wanted to tie Wen Shiyan up and take her home, keeping her by her side forever.
“Why, why do you like me? Someone like me doesn’t deserve your affection…”
Wen Shiyan’s voice was choked. She cried as she looked up at Lu Yiran. It had been a long time since she last saw Lu Yiran. It seemed Lu Yiran had grown up well even without her.
Lu Yiran’s palm was lightly kissed by Wen Shiyan, and her heart pounded rapidly. She had felt a little wronged after being yelled at by Wen Shiyan, but she immediately cheered up after Wen Shiyan kissed her palm.
Overjoyed at seeing Wen Shiyan, Lu Yiran didn’t listen carefully to what Wen Shiyan was saying. As soon as Wen Shiyan finished speaking, Lu Yiran pulled her and pushed her into the car.
Wen Shiyan tried to open the car door, but the driver had locked it. Wen Shiyan hadn’t expected Lu Yiran to be so bold now, forcefully getting her into the car in front of so many people.
To prepare for the audition, Wen Shiyan hadn’t had a proper rest for several days. She was exhausted. Wen Shiyan said to Lu Yiran in a weary voice, “Yiran, let me out…”
“No, I won’t!” Lu Yiran said, pulling out a coil of rope from who knows where. Sweat beaded on her forehead as she moved to the back of the car, intending to tie Wen Shiyan up.
But Lu Yiran’s strength was ultimately less than Wen Shiyan’s. Just as she was about to tie the rope around Wen Shiyan’s wrist, Wen Shiyan exerted force and pinned her down.
Wen Shiyan couldn’t believe that the Lu Yiran who used to obediently follow her and call her Jiejie would become like this. Fearing she might hurt Lu Yiran, she only restricted Lu Yiran’s movements for a moment before releasing her.
Wen Shiyan looked at Lu Yiran, who had lowered her head like a child who knew she had done wrong, and said, “Yiran, please don’t be like this, okay? I won’t leave.”
Lu Yiran asked doubtfully, “Really?”
After receiving Wen Shiyan’s affirmative answer, Lu Yiran put the rope back where she found it.
Upon arriving home, Lu Yiran carefully opened the car door for Wen Shiyan, afraid she would leave her the next second.
Wen Shiyan followed Lu Yiran into her house. She didn’t say anything more, expertly retrieved a blanket from Lu Yiran’s bedroom, and lay down on the sofa.
She was truly exhausted.
Lu Yiran sat on the rug, leaning against the sofa, positioning herself so she could react immediately to any movement from Wen Shiyan.
Wen Shiyan slept for a long time, and Lu Yiran sat for just as long. Even though her legs were getting numb, Lu Yiran maintained her position without a single change.
After a long while, Lu Yiran’s vision started to blur. She took one last look at Wen Shiyan before falling asleep.
After Lu Yiran fell asleep, Wen Shiyan opened her eyes. She sat up and placed the blanket over Lu Yiran. She squatted in front of Lu Yiran, looking at her current appearance.
The childishness had faded, replaced by a more mature look. But to Wen Shiyan, Lu Yiran was no different from when she was a child.
Thinking of Lu Yiran’s actions today, Wen Shiyan chuckled softly, “Still a child, as expected.”
Wen Shiyan then got up and went to the kitchen.
When Lu Yiran woke up and didn’t see Wen Shiyan, she quickly threw off the blanket and rushed to find her, only to see Wen Shiyan emerging from the kitchen carrying a plate of food. Seeing that Lu Yiran was awake, Wen Shiyan called her over to eat.
Lu Yiran walked over, looked at the dishes on the table, then looked at Wen Shiyan. She silently hugged Wen Shiyan, burying her head in her arms.
In her embrace, Lu Yiran murmured, “Jiejie, I really miss you. They all forgot about you, and only I remembered. For a long time, I thought everything that happened between us was just a dream I had. But now, I finally found you.”
Wen Shiyan didn’t move, letting Lu Yiran hold her.
“Jiejie, will you disappear from my side again?”
Wen Shiyan didn’t answer, and Lu Yiran didn’t want to hear Wen Shiyan’s answer either. At this moment, Wen Shiyan’s silence allowed her to continue immersing herself in this beautiful dream.
This is good, Lu Yiran thought. This way, I can imagine Wen Shiyan will always be by my side.
During the meal, neither of them spoke. The atmosphere at the dining table became somewhat strange.
One room in Lu Yiran’s house was filled with everything she had prepared for Wen Shiyan after Wen Shiyan left her.
Wen Shiyan opened the room door and saw gifts piled high on the shelves and clothes neatly arranged in the closet, all bought in her size.
Wen Shiyan casually grabbed a pair of pajamas and a change of clothes and went into the bathroom.
Listening to the sound of water in the bathroom, Lu Yiran felt as if all of this was a dream. She had had many such dreams before, and the more surprised she was in the dream, the sadder she was when she woke up.
When Wen Shiyan came out of the bathroom, Lu Yiran immediately followed her.
Wen Shiyan was drying her damp hair as she asked Lu Yiran, “Where do I sleep tonight?”
“Sleep with me,” Lu Yiran said. She had no expectations when she said this, thinking Wen Shiyan would refuse her.
“Mhm, then let’s go to sleep.”
After drying her hair, Wen Shiyan went into Lu Yiran’s room. Lu Yiran followed in disbelief.
Wen Shiyan lifted the covers, lay down on the bed, and turned off the bedside lamp. Lu Yiran nervously lay down beside Wen Shiyan.
After a long time, Lu Yiran couldn’t sleep because Wen Shiyan was right next to her. Her heart was beating so loudly she was afraid Wen Shiyan might hear it.
Wen Shiyan opened her eyes and said, “Can’t sleep?”
“Mhm.” Lu Yiran gripped the corner of the blanket, intending to get up, afraid of disturbing Wen Shiyan’s sleep.
Wen Shiyan reached out and pulled Lu Yiran into her arms, gently patting her back. Wen Shiyan’s soft voice came from above her head.
“Sleep, Yiran. I’ll stay with you.”
In Wen Shiyan’s embrace, surrounded by the familiar scent, Lu Yiran initially tried to stay awake, but the sleepiness was overwhelming, and she finally drifted off.
【You shouldn’t be with her right now.】
The system warned Wen Shiyan, who sighed.
“I know.”
Sunlight hit her face, too bright. Lu Yiran raised her hand to shield her eyes from the light. Subconsciously, she reached out to touch the space beside her.
It was empty.
Lu Yiran quickly sat up, opened the bedroom door, and shouted into the house, “Wen Shiyan!”
There was no reply. Every room was empty.
Lu Yiran slumped helplessly to the floor, tears dripping onto the floorboards. Her vision blurred, and she bit her lip tightly.
She shouldn’t have believed Wen Shiyan…
As Wen Shiyan reached her doorstep, she was blocked by several women. Wen Shiyan prepared to take another route, but the women suddenly lifted her and shoved her into a car. Wen Shiyan didn’t have time to call for help before the car door was shut.
After calming down, Wen Shiyan realized she had seen these women before—they were some of Lu Yiran’s bodyguards.
Wen Shiyan was taken to an unfamiliar place. After being led into a room, the women left her there alone.
Wen Shiyan looked at the Lu Yiran in front of her. Lu Yiran glanced at Wen Shiyan’s bound hands. She walked up to Wen Shiyan and led her to sit on the sofa.
“Wen Shiyan, you said you wouldn’t leave me. I had no choice but to do this.”
Lu Yiran said this as she gently undid a few buttons at the top of Wen Shiyan’s clothes, opening the collar and revealing a large expanse of pale skin and her collarbone.
A chill ran across her exposed skin. Wen Shiyan’s voice became slightly hoarse as she asked Lu Yiran, “Yiran, what are you going to do…”
“Wen Shiyan, you’re asking me what I’m going to do? Don’t you know very well what I want to do?”
Lu Yiran said, giving Wen Shiyan a light push, and Wen Shiyan fell back onto the sofa.
The system’s warning sounds filled her ears. Wen Shiyan closed her eyes, her head throbbing. Lu Yiran, however, mistook this for Wen Shiyan disliking her.
