The Film Empress White Moonlight Wants To Be A Salted Fish - Chapter 20
When Wen Shiyan saw Lu Yiran looking dazed, she checked the time and realized it was getting late. She said to Lu Yiran: “Time to go to sleep.”
Only upon hearing Wen Shiyan’s words did Lu Yiran realize that it was time for bed; no wonder she felt a little out of it.
After saying goodbye to Director Zhang, before leaving, Lu Yiran saw Ruan Ning already leaning against Lu Shiran with her head down and eyes closed. She wanted to call Ruan Ning to go back to her room, but seeing Ruan Ning nestled against Lu Shiran, Lu Yiran closed her mouth and obediently returned to the room with Wen Shiyan.
As soon as Lu Yiran returned to the room, she was so sleepy she wanted to lie down, but Wen Shiyan pulled her aside for her to wash up. Lu Yiran quickly washed up and rushed to the bed, pulled the blanket over her head, and immediately fell asleep.
The next day was the launch ceremony, and Lu Yiran was pulled out of bed by Wen Shiyan before her dream was over.
The program’s sponsors, along with Director Zhang and the producer, had decided to donate one-third of the program’s total revenue after airing to public welfare. Additionally, for charitable donations to the countryside, Director Zhang and the producer also contributed money and effort, so the launch ceremony was kept simple.
Because the roads in the countryside were difficult to navigate, only a few reporters came for the interview. After a simple run-through of the launch process, the program team spent another day checking the camera equipment and screening the safety of the guests’ activity range before the variety show officially began recording.
The next day, all the program guests stood at the village entrance with their luggage.
“Welcome to You From Afar. Viewers in front of the TV, are you super excited after watching the live broadcast? That’s right, we’ve invited the long unseen teacher Lu Shiran!” After Director Zhang finished speaking, Wen Shiyan and the others standing in front of her applauded enthusiastically. Lu Shiran gave a sweet smile to the camera.
“Now, follow me into the village.”
Standing in front of the houses, Director Zhang looked at Lu Yiran and the others: “Today we’ve come to the countryside to lead everyone to experience a different life. Now, we will draw lots to decide everyone’s roommates.”
Lu Yiran didn’t expect Director Zhang, who was just laughing and chatting with them, to get into character so quickly. She followed behind Wen Shiyan, silently praying that her roommate wouldn’t be Wen Shiyan. Although she was captivated by Wen Shiyan’s looks and liked her, she would rather live with Xie Shuyao or someone else. Of course, it shouldn’t be Qin Mo either.
“Everyone, please announce the number you drew, and those with the same number should consciously stand together.”
After Director Zhang spoke, Lu Yiran looked at the number in her hand: it was “1.”
“Mine is 1,” Lu Yiran opened the slip of paper.
Hearing that Lu Yiran got 1, Xie Shuyao said with some disappointment: “Ah, mine is 3.”
“Mine is 2.”
“Mine is 1,” Wen Shiyan said. Lu Yiran looked at her in disbelief.
It was one thing to be grouped with Wen Shiyan during the live broadcast, but why were they still grouped together even after the show officially started recording? This was too unreasonable.
Seeing Lu Yiran’s tearful expression, Qin Mo asked: “Yiran, don’t you like living with Teacher Wen?”
“Ha… ha, how could that be?” Lu Yiran wondered if Qin Mo was being deliberate, and gritted her teeth inwardly: What would happen if Qin Mo didn’t say an extra word?
“Everyone, please put your electronic devices and money into this box our program staff will keep them for you,” Director Zhang said, and a large box was brought out.
“No need to worry about not being able to contact the production team if something happens. The signal is poor in the village, and the special watch we’ve given you is much more practical than a mobile phone.”
Lu Yiran was the first to turn off her phone and put it in along with her wallet.
The rest of the people also followed suit and placed their phones and other items into the box.
“Then, everyone, please take your luggage into the bedrooms with your future roommates.”
After Director Zhang spoke, Lu Yiran and the others carried their luggage and put it back into the rooms.
Just after they finished putting away their luggage, Director Zhang was already urging them from downstairs. After going downstairs, Director Zhang said to them: “The program team has placed the ingredients for today’s lunch in certain spots in the village. The speed at which everyone finds the ingredients determines when lunch will be served, so please hurry up and take action.”
Hearing that they had to run around again, Lu Yiran stumbled.
Seeing Lu Yiran nearly fall, Wen Shiyan helped her up: “Slow down, the road here is a bit rough.”
“Thank you, Teacher Wen.” Lu Yiran gave Wen Shiyan an impeccable smile.
