The Female Lead of the Abusive Novel Can Hear My Heart's Voice - Chapter 47
Xia MuCai still couldn’t resist Xia Chi’s persistence.
“Let me be clear first if a typhoon blows you away, don’t expect me to care.”
Xia Chi’s eyes were sincere as she grinned, “You let me go, and if anything happens, I won’t blame you.”
“Alright then.” Without her saying it, one would think she was taking Xia Chi out for a feast, she looked so happy. “Let’s go.”
They arrived at the beach. Usually, the sandy shore would be crowded with people, overwhelming and maddening to the point of irritation just by looking at it.
But now, there wasn’t a single person in sight, only desolation.
The black mist was the god who gave Xia MuCai the mission, but it was an evil god.
It stole the luck of the lucky cat who could tell her apart from a true god? It was no wonder she had gone to the trouble of disguising herself as a fortune-teller to confuse the Xia family couple, and also deceived Xu Qin and Mo Qi.
Though her combat ability was weak, she was cunning and relied on her wits to obtain the lucky cat.
Xia MuCai remained calm facing this scene, still leisurely confronting the black mist, “You tricked me in every way possible, your goal was to get to my true body, wasn’t it?”
“Looks like you’re not stupid after all.”
The black mist spoke with contempt, playing with her true body, “I originally planned to make you fail your mission so that when you died, I could take the lucky cat directly. But you dawdled so long you ended up doing the mission in reverse.”
Villains always die because they talk too much, so don’t blame her for drawing them out.
The first thing she wanted to ask was about Xia MuCai’s amnesia. Pretending to be shocked, Xia MuCai looked incredulous, “Why did I lose my memory?”
“Ke ke ke.” The black mist laughed arrogantly, holding her forehead, “Isn’t it because you fought others over the mission, got pulled and fell, hitting your head? Otherwise, how could my weak combat power fool you?”
Xia MuCai again pretended to be scared, covering her open mouth with her hand, “Then you know my weakness?”
“Of course.” The black mist laughed again, spinning the fragile lucky cat on her fingertip like a basketball, “Isn’t it this cat? Once it breaks, you die.”
“You…”
“Hahaha.” The black mist was very proud, raising her head laughing, “Scared? But you can’t do anything to me, I can kill you anytime!”
“Then kill me now.” Xia MuCai lost the desire to talk, despair covering her like a cloud. Not only the black mist, but even Xia Chi was stunned.
Xia Chi hugged her arm tightly, shaking her, “You can’t just die like this, I’m willing to do anything, just stay alive.”
“Let go.” She slowly pulled Xia Chi’s hand away, looking at her helplessly with no other choice.
She shook her head and refused.
The black mist watched, full of joy at this moment. She wiped the tears from laughing too much and said to Xia Chi, “If you don’t want her to die, that’s fine. You just have to give up everything you have now, and I’ll give the lucky cat back to you.”
Xia Chi didn’t hesitate at all, answering, “Okay, I agree.”
“Xia Chi, you’re crazy!” This time Xia MuCai grabbed Xia Chi’s hand, disbelief and incomprehension written all over her face. “You worked so hard to get everything, and for me, you’re willing to give up your current life?”
“I’m willing…” Xia Chi wanted to say “I love you, I can do anything for you,” but she thought that might pressure Xia MuCai. “Let’s just say I’m giving it back to you.”
Xia MuCai was very angry, tightening her grip on Xia Chi’s hand, “Do you know that giving up everything means you’ll live like a tortured heroine in a melodrama? It’s better to escape than to return. I really am not worth you sacrificing your assets for.”
“Isn’t everything I have given by you? Without you, I don’t know who I’d be controlled by.” Xia Chi was emotional, tears streaming as she spoke.
If she went back to the past, Xia MuCai would never love her. Her heartbeat had never been this fast. She cried loudly, “I love you, Xia MuCai!”
Her voice drowned out the roaring wind. She was heart-wrenching, as if to let everyone know she loved Xia MuCai.
“At this last moment… just grant me this once.”
Xia MuCai remembered the first time she met Xia Chi. She had offered the lucky cat to her like a treasure, hoping to build a good relationship.
Her true body lost, because she wasn’t picky about the garbage place’s dirt. When she got the lucky cat for the first time, she wagged her tail like a dog, wanting credit from Xia Chi.
She really didn’t understand what love was, but everything Xia Chi did for her was truly love.
She even unknowingly shed tears with her. Realizing it, she quickly wiped them away and whispered softly, “I think I’ve fallen in love with you too.”
Even though the voice was soft, Xia Chi heard it.
No regrets, her life was complete.
She wiped her tears and stared straight at the black mist, “How do I give up everything I have?”
The black mist replied, “Simple. After all, I’m a god. Just make a wish to me.”
“What do I wish for?” Xia Chi asked without blinking.
“Wish for eternal wealth and honor.” The black mist clenched the lucky cat tightly. Everyone who made a wish to her ended up getting the opposite, so over time she was despised and downgraded to an evil god.
Xia Chi knew the abyss was ahead but still jumped into it. She made a wish to the evil god, “I want eternal wealth and honor!”
The evil god was honest and handed the lucky cat to Xia Chi.
But how could it be so simple? If Xia MuCai didn’t die, how could Xia Chi live with her luck? Why would the evil god bother exchanging the lucky cat for something?
Crash! She shattered the lucky cat in front of Xia Chi, laughing wildly, “I’m an evil god, I have better ways to get Xia MuCai’s luck. Why play this childish one-for-one game with you!”
Xia Chi saw the lucky cat shattered on the sand, no chance to save it.
Staring at the fragments on the beach, she was stunned with despair, thinking she was useless and couldn’t even protect Xia MuCai.
Just as Xia MuCai said to Xia Chi, “I think I’ve fallen in love with you,” a golden light of virtue enveloped Xia MuCai. She had achieved merit.
This meant she was freed from the lucky cat’s control. Her true body was no longer a ceramic lucky cat but the body she now possessed.
Before she could rejoice, her damaged memories all flooded back. Hundreds of years were enough for her to digest, but luckily she had spent those hundreds of years mostly eating and sleeping, so there wasn’t much to process.
When her consciousness cleared and she opened her eyes, she saw the evil god had broken her “true body.”
“Evil god, don’t get too arrogant. You’re already popping champagne at halftime.”
“Right…” Xia Chi turned her head, wanting to apologize to her.
Xia Chi walked over and put a finger to her lips, “No need to say sorry, thank you for saving me, I’m fine.”
“You… why aren’t you dead?” The evil god was the most shocked.
“Thanks to you.” Xia MuCai slowly approached the black mist. The evil god had revealed her weakness during their conversation: she was a zero combat power weakling.
Xia MuCai cracked her knuckles. The evil god was so scared she kept retreating until she had nowhere left but the sea to run.
“You dare threaten me? I’ve lived hundreds of years and no one’s threatened me. Watch me turn you into mince meat.”
The evil god transformed into a black sphere, losing her humanoid form.
“Don’t… don’t hit me…”
Xia MuCai stopped, truly not wanting to hit the black mist, but her mischievous smile gave everything away.
If you mess with her, she’s not an easy cat to provoke. You mess with her, you better be ready for payback.
“I won’t hit you.” The little black ball bounced twice on the ground, as if asking if she was serious. “Whatever you do to me, I’ll do double to you.”
Evil god: What do you mean?
The next second, Xia MuCai made the black ball understand what she meant.
A golden light passed through her fingertip, and she touched the black ball. The evil god lost her memory and turned into a three-year-old girl lying on the ground.
The little girl slowly opened her eyes, scared, looking around, “Who am I? Why am I here?”
Xia MuCai gave an evil smile and started to deceive the three-year-old, “You’re Lucky Star Black Cat. Hurry up and go to various worlds to bring fortune to the most miserable humans. If your performance is poor, get ready to be punished!”
The child trembled. Weak as she was, seeing the giants towering over her, she asked no questions and nodded.
The black mist ran away in a flash.
Xia MuCai chuckled softly and glanced at Xia Chi out of the corner of her eye.
“You…” Xia Chi didn’t know what to say anymore. Xia MuCai seemed like a great god. No wonder she looked down on her, a mere mortal.
Xia MuCai saw Xia Chi’s thoughts and smiled, “You said you love me, now regretting it?”
“No!” Xia Chi said seriously, looking a little cute.
“Besides sleeping and eating, I really have no other merits. Do you really like me?” Xia MuCai wanted to be clear. Her hundreds of years of memories were digestible in seconds not because she was that amazing, but because her memories were dull and monotonous.
She really did nothing but sleep and eat, no hobbies at all.
Xia Chi resolutely and firmly said, “I love you. I just love you. I like you no matter what you’re like!”
Xia MuCai blushed. She quickly covered her mouth, “Stop talking…”
“Let’s… go back. The typhoon’s coming…”
“I have nothing left. Do you dislike me now?”
“No, I still have this lucky cat. Hold me tight. I’ll share some of my luck with you.”
Just then, Xia Chi glowed. She held Xia MuCai’s hand, “Did you… accept my confession?”
Xia MuCai blushed and nodded, “Yeah, let’s give it a try.”
Half a month later, the Xia family came up with a solution for the holographic pod issue. The Teng family, instead of fixing the accident, made snide remarks and behaved arrogantly but were investigated.
If not investigated, it wouldn’t be a problem. But once investigated, tax evasion was exposed. Along with the media clarifying the holographic incident, everyone saw the Teng family’s true colors and unanimously boycotted them.
A year later, the Teng family went bankrupt. Teng Jingsi became a shoeshiner on the street. Due to bad attitude, he had no business and sometimes had to skip meals despite the era not lacking rice.
Mo Qi confessed to Xia Chi that she had been demoted and completely cut ties with Gu Bai’an.
A person who only thinks of herself is always selfish. She would never like him again.
They were destined to be fated but not meant to be.
Xia Chi still didn’t understand why Xia MuCai let the evil god go.
Xia MuCai lay in bed holding her, slowly explaining, “That’s because a free laborer shouldn’t be wasted. When I lost my memory, it was the black mist who picked me up. But after learning about my luck, she got greedy, and that led to our current situation.”
Xia MuCai always said she had no merits, but after hearing this, Xia Chi thought she had merits all over.
She whispered in Xia MuCai’s ear, “You always said you have no merits, but black mist only saved you once and you still repaid the kindness. That counts as your merit.”
“Do you like it?” Xia MuCai asked.
Without hesitation, Xia Chi answered, “I like it.”
The two of them lay in bed for almost three days. After talking, they went back to their passionate battles. There was a long life ahead, and they could slowly get to know each other better.
