The Female Lead of the Abusive Novel Can Hear My Heart's Voice - Chapter 45
How was she supposed to face Xia Chi? Being stopped by her security guards outside the door, and then getting caught by Xia Chi herself was truly embarrassing.
She wished she could find a crack to slip through and escape.
She was desperate to help her colleague whom she always took care of. So what if she was humiliated in public? As long as she had thick skin, whatever Xia Chi said would just go in one ear and out the other.
Putting on a forced smile, she cheerfully turned her head, “Xia Chi, I have something to talk to you about.”
“What is it? To take back the lucky cat? Or the recent hot topic?” Xia Chi was very aggressive, as if she could predict what she was going to say next. No time for chit-chat, she refused simply and directly.
Xia Mucai pressed her lips together, her pride wanting to glue Xia Chi’s mouth shut so she couldn’t open it or make a sound.
Seeing her silent for a long time, Xia Chi withdrew what was in her sight and looked straight ahead at the road, “If you don’t have anything to say, I’m leaving.”
“Wait.” Xia Chi stopped, turned back and looked at her, a faint smile tugging at the corners of her lips.
Xia Mucai went all in, “I’m here about that hot topic. My friends are all trapped in the holographic chamber.”
“The holographic chamber wasn’t sold by the Xia family to your friends. If you want to find someone, go to Teng Jingsi.”
“I know…” Xia Mucai felt like having a heart attack. Xia Chi had nothing to do with her. The way she was begging for help made even Xia Chi feel disgusted.
She gritted her teeth, pretending to be calm, “How can Teng Jingsi be reliable? The only person I can trust is you.”
Xia Chi sneered. She instinctively felt happy when Xia Mucai said she only trusted her, but she couldn’t forget how she was driven out of Binhai City a year ago.
“Go back. I can’t handle this.”
“Xia Chi.” She wanted to say she could fix this disaster, but Xia Chi turned and walked away.
“I know how to make you agree.”
The person who had turned away turned back and looked at her with interest, “Tell me.”
“I’ll give myself to you.” Xia Mucai knew Xia Chi had special feelings for her, just like she had for Xia Chi.
Xia Chi laughed a mischievous laugh, as if mocking her foolishness and naïveté. She began to doubt if she had misread the signs.
Would this be considered narcissistic and delusional?
Unconsciously nervous, she wanted to find a hole to escape from immediately.
Just as she wanted to retract her words, Xia Chi agreed.
“Fine, but if I’m not satisfied, I can back out anytime. You can’t resist or refuse any request I make.”
“Okay.”
“Deal.”
“Deal.”
Xia Mucai imagined Xia Chi would make things difficult for her, like feeding her terrible vegetarian dishes.
But no, it was quite the opposite. Every meal had fish, meat, and prawns. Her life was better than her work.
However… all these good things came at a cost.
In the office, Xia Chi made her stand beside her all day. She wouldn’t talk to her, nor would she initiate any conversation. The two did their own work separately.
It wasn’t until lunch that her legs were finally freed.
Her thighs trembled uncontrollably. Before she could sit down, her legs gave way and she collapsed onto the carpet.
Xia Chi looked down at her from above, the corner of her lips slightly curled, half mocking, half teasing with genuine fondness afterward.
No matter what, Xia Mucai was the one being bullied, and Xia Chi was taking it out on her. She knew that well.
Near evening, the person sitting in the boss’s chair typing on the keyboard spoke to her, “Come stay at my hotel tonight.”
“Why?”
“Did you forget our agreement?”
Whatever Xia Chi said was final. She couldn’t refuse or resist.
Remembering her firm agreement, she hung her head and said, “I know.”
She had been made to stand all day, only briefly resting at lunch. Now her feet were numb.
Xia Chi typed the last word, closed the laptop, and without another word, carried her horizontally to the sofa and sat down.
“You don’t have to stand tomorrow.”
Xia Mucai just wanted to breathe a sigh of relief, but Xia Chi added, “I thought about it, I can’t keep you without giving me something. You help me organize the data. If you can’t get it done, hmm, you know what happens.”
“What will you do if I can’t do it?”
Xia Chi whispered seductively in her ear, “What do you think?”
Gulping, the naive Xia Mucai thought maybe a spanking or making her stand more.
Xia Chi saw through her thoughts. How could it be so simple? She didn’t like playing S&M.
She would find out tonight.
At night, outside the hotel was bustling with traffic. The floor to ceiling glass windows offered a great view, and staying on the 28th floor meant the curtains didn’t need to be drawn.
The bathtub was placed next to the window, big enough for two.
On the first day at the hotel, Xia Chi noticed the bathtub, but she wasn’t the type to seek thrills through exposure. She was more conservative, preferring honest communication in private with Xia Mucai.
Xia Mucai was stunned by the bathtub by the window, thinking humans were really something.
Xia Chi walked to the tub, touched the white porcelain, then looked at her, “Do you want to bathe yourself, or shall I help you?”
She imagined sitting with Xia Chi in the tub, with the night view of Binhai City outside. She shivered, not wanting to become tomorrow’s news.
“I’ll bathe myself, I’ll bathe myself.” She hurried to the normal bathroom, afraid Xia Chi might catch her for a couple’s bath.
Behind her came Xia Chi’s wild laughter, like a wolf’s den. She was no longer the fragile little rabbit.
The sound of water splashing in the bathroom. Through the frosted glass door, her graceful figure was faintly visible, curves in all the right places.
She went in without any change of clothes or a bathrobe and only realized this after finishing.
Turning off the water, she gently cracked the bathroom door open a little and poked her head out, “Um…”
She didn’t know how Xia Chi would react, and was scared stiff.
“Xia Chi.”
The bathroom and bedroom were close, and the hotel was very quiet. Her whisper seemed amplified.
Xia Chi wasn’t working but sat at the end of the bed watching her. She jumped a little, her voice magnetic, “What is it?”
Xia Mucai clung to the bathroom door, embarrassed to death. Asking Xia Chi to bring clothes was mortifying. Her face flushed instantly.
But compared to running naked in front of Xia Chi, this was nothing.
“Can you… bring me some change of clothes?” The last few words were rushed, whispered barely audible.
So embarrassing, she wanted to scream and twist around.
“Sure.” Xia Chi heard everything, both the surface words and the inner feelings. Xia Mucai looked very shy.
Xia Chi didn’t rummage through the wardrobe but came over empty-handed.
Xia Mucai was scared. She already guessed what would happen Xia Chi was going to make a move.
Just as she thought, Xia Chi’s hot breath was by her ear, “Sure I can, but do you think it’s necessary tonight?”
Before she could react, Xia Chi carried her horizontally, her naked body fully exposed from head to toe.
Her face and neck flushed even more. The feeling was uncomfortable and made her feel insecure.
She shyly buried her head in Xia Chi’s neck, clutching her clothes tightly with both hands.
She was roughly thrown onto the bed. The softness of the bed eased the pain somewhat, but even a little hurt made her frown.
Xia Chi saw her expression and gently ran her fingers through her hair, touching her scalp.
“Xia Mucai, you look like a little kitten.”
She closed her eyes, murmuring, “You seem to have gone bad.”
“Didn’t you teach me?”
Xia Mucai opened her eyes, watery, staring at Xia Chi, “When did I teach you that?”
She really didn’t want to see Xia Chi as a pathetic and timid person. She liked this new Xia Chi better at least she wouldn’t be bullied anymore.
“Do you like me like this?”
“Just so-so.”
“So-so?” Xia Chi pressed her thumb on Xia Mucai’s lips, making her sound like a kitten, “Do I have to explore you myself to know it’s just so-so?”
That night, Xia Mucai lost count of how many times Xia Chi asked if she liked her.
She always answered vaguely, even though her body began to respond to Xia Chi’s expert touch. She never directly admitted she liked her.
She had never seen the dawn. The last memory was Xia Chi carrying her to the bathroom. What happened next, she didn’t remember at all.
When she woke up, Xia Chi’s sleeping face was next to her pillow.
Her movement wasn’t loud, but Xia Chi still woke up alertly. Their eyes met, and she was startled.
Xia Chi’s reaction scared her even more.
“Where are you going?” Xia Chi held her hand as if afraid she would run away, looking pitiful.
“I… I’m not going anywhere. I just woke up too.”
They had a reckless night. Xia Chi probably didn’t even know that the old director’s death was connected to her, or why else would she do such a crazy thing with her?
She reminded her, “A year ago, I drove you out of Binhai City. When you returned to Jiangcheng, didn’t you properly investigate the orphanage case? Didn’t you suspect the old director’s death was deliberate?”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Xia Chi let go of Xia Mucai’s hand and sat up. Knowing she was sore, she had a red scratch mark on her back.
Xia Mucai thought Xia Chi was deliberately avoiding the topic. She sat up too, equally sore. Xia Chi’s gaze flickered there, filled with lust.
She slapped away the wandering hand, “Be serious. If you move, I’ll chop your hand off.”
Xia Chi looked extremely wronged, “What do you want to say to me?” She sat properly, restrained her hands, but her eyes kept glancing at Xia Mucai.
“Xia Chi, the old director’s death is related to me. Why don’t you know this until now?”
“Huh?”
Wasn’t the old director dead from natural causes? She hurried to look at his last moments but wasn’t sure how he really died.
“Is that why you don’t like me, Xia Mucai?”
“Yes.”
