The Female Lead Keeps Breaking Her Own Persona - Chapter 9
“But…” Gu Jingyun wanted to say something more but was interrupted by Qu Anruo. “Doesn’t older sister want to live with me?” Qu Anruo blinked as she looked at Gu Jingyun. In the end, Qu Anruo successfully used her charm, and Gu Jingyun agreed.
Gu Jingyun knew what kind of house Qu Anruo referred to as a standard residence for the company’s artists. She knew Qu Anruo said this because she wanted her to accept it. However, she couldn’t just accept it for free. Later on, she would pay Qu Anruo back.
666 didn’t expect Qu Anruo to be so proactive. She was indeed the host it had chosen. From now on, the happiness of the female lead, Gu Jingyun, would depend on its host.
“Older sister, the house is so empty, why don’t we go look at furniture now?” Qu Anruo took a card out of her bag and handed it to Gu Jingyun, telling her to keep it for now.
The two drove to a furniture store, which Secretary Zhang had recommended. Secretary Zhang initially wanted to help them buy the items but Qu Anruo refused. She wanted to start anew in a new place and do all the things she hadn’t done before.
When she arrived, she was immediately overwhelmed. There were too many things for sale! Qu Anruo got out of the car and then took out a mask for Gu Jingyun to wear.
Because Gu Jingyun was taller than her, she had to stand on her tiptoes to reach her. Gu Jingyun cooperated and bent down to let Qu Anruo help her put it on. For some reason, the two, who had only recently met, got along very harmoniously. Qu Anruo attributed this to her liking for Gu Jingyun.
Gu Jingyun handed the list she had prepared in the car to Qu Anruo. After reading it, Qu Anruo found it simpler than she had imagined. She regained her spirit and walked ahead.
The subsequent scene was Qu Anruo bought the items, and Gu Jingyun followed behind, using the card to pay and leave the address. Finally, Qu Anruo returned to the car, laden with purchases.
All the items on the list had been crossed off. She had originally thought that shopping would take a long time, but it was only almost 4 p.m.
Qu Anruo took a lollipop out of the car and put it in her mouth, asking, “Older sister, is there anything you want to eat?”
Gu Jingyun shook her head. Qu Anruo noticed the weather outside was quite hot, and ice cream would be nice on such a hot day. She crunched the lollipop, tossed the stick into a bag, and drove to a place Fang Yumeng had recommended.
This place was near Gu Jinyi’s school, and she could coincidentally bring something for Gu Jinyi to eat. After all, she was Gu Jingyun’s younger sister, and soon to be her younger sister, too.
She drove to a small shop, and Qu Anruo asked Gu Jingyun to wait in line for her while she went to the nearby supermarket to buy some snacks. She felt the quality of the clothes in the supermarket wasn’t good, so she planned to take Gu Jingyun and Gu Jinyi to the mall she usually frequented to buy clothes later.
Gu Jingyun bought an ice cream and waited for Qu Anruo in a shady spot. Fortunately, the ice cream didn’t melt too quickly, or else Qu Anruo wouldn’t have been able to eat it when she arrived.
But it was still too late; the ice cream had already started to melt and drip. Gu Jingyun didn’t dare move, seeing how fast it was melting. Fortunately, Qu Anruo emerged at that moment. She came up to Gu Jingyun, quickly put down her things, and took the ice cream. The ice cream dripped down Qu Anruo’s hand, emitting a sweet, cloying scent.
Gu Jingyun took the ice cream from Qu Anruo’s hand and threw it in the trash can. “Don’t eat it, I’ll go buy another one.” She said this as she took out a wet wipe to clean Qu Anruo’s fingers.
The sweetness on the hand seemed impossible to wipe away, lingering in the air. Qu Anruo didn’t seem to notice, taking the tissue from Gu Jingyun’s hand to wipe the water stains off her hands, but Gu Jingyun clearly smelled it.
She suppressed her confusion and went to buy a new ice cream, but she never smelled that previous sweet scent again, only the inherent sweetness of the ice cream.
Seeing so many people around, Gu Jingyun only thought the smell must have come from one of them.
Qu Anruo didn’t notice Gu Jingyun’s actions. She picked up a bag of snacks and asked, “Older sister, is it okay to send food to Gu Jinyi’s school?”
“Yes, it is,” Gu Jingyun said, nodding. She looked at Qu Anruo, her eyes dimming slightly. She must have been overthinking it.
Qu Anruo drove to Gu Jinyi’s school, suddenly remembering that the school was funded by the Qu family. She parked the car in a nearby parking lot and walked to the school gate with Gu Jingyun.
The security guard at the school gate was shocked to see Qu Anruo wasn’t this the daughter of their school’s chairman?
He quickly opened the gate and let the two in.
“Little Director Qu, is there anything you need?” the security guard said, rubbing his hands and bowing.
Qu Anruo shook the bag in her hand, indicating, “I’m here to bring food to a child.”
“Is it Little Director Qu’s younger sister? Please go ahead.” The security guard led the two to the front of the teaching building and then tactfully left.
A short while later, the school dismissed classes. Gu Jinyi came out of the building alone and saw the two people. She approached them in confusion.
A few students on the stairs immediately stopped when they saw Qu Anruo. They knew Qu Anruo the rumors said she was a crazy woman who would tear apart anyone who dared to provoke her. Looking at Gu Jinyi, who seemed to know Qu Anruo, they decided to avoid bullying her in the future.
666 relayed the thoughts of the students to Qu Anruo.
Qu Anruo hadn’t expected to be seen this way by some people. If she found out who was spreading the rumors, she wouldn’t let them off.
Also, Gu Jinyi seemed to have been bullied at school, but judging by Gu Jinyi’s demeanor, she hadn’t told Gu Jingyun. It looked like Qu Anruo would have to find time to have a good talk with those students.
Gu Jingyun gave the bag to Gu Jinyi: “Anruo bought these snacks for you.”
Gu Jinyi was about to say she didn’t like them but remembered what Gu Jingyun had told her, so she had to take the items.
“Thank you,” Gu Jinyi said to Qu Anruo, then wanted to leave. “I’ll have a surprise for you when I pick you up in a few days,” Qu Anruo said, waving from behind.
The first step in capturing the female lead, first care for her younger sister.
[The female lead’s current favorability is (10/100). Host, you are amazing.] 666 was excited to finally see the favorability increase.
Sure enough, Qu Anruo looked at Gu Jingyun with a smile.
She planned to go back and ask Gu Jingyun’s manager, Wang Chu, to register a Weibo account for Gu Jingyun. Then, they could start posting some photos of Gu Jingyun to increase her exposure.
When the two returned to the company, Wang Chu was also waiting for them. “CEO Qu, Ms. Gu.” Wang Chu said, leading the two to his office.
“Since Ms. Gu is not taking on any acting roles yet, how about we take some photos or videos of her daily life and post them on Weibo?” Wang Chu suggested, sitting in front of them.
“That’s a good idea. What do you think, Ms. Gu?” In front of outsiders, Qu Anruo felt awkward calling Gu Jingyun ‘older sister,’ but calling her by her name felt strange, so she followed Wang Chu’s lead and called her Ms. Gu.
Gu Jingyun nodded, and upon hearing Qu Anruo call her Ms. Gu, she smiled and said, “I’ll follow your suggestions.”
“Then it’s settled,” Wang Chu stood up and went out to arrange work for other artists.
