The Female Lead Keeps Breaking Her Own Persona - Chapter 7
“Sister, why are you here?” Qu Anruo didn’t expect herself to be so unlucky. This kind of scenario had repeated itself twice, and Gu Jingyun had seen both of them. Although she hadn’t done anything, she still felt a little guilty.
Gu Jingyun came to the company after resting for a while when the medication took effect. The teacher asked her to come to check her acting skills. Although she graduated from C City’s top-ranked university and one of the top ten nationwide, Gu Jingyun had never systematically studied acting.
To date, she would immerse her own emotions into her performances in every movie and TV series she participated in. It was difficult for her to come out of character afterwards, which for Gu Jingyun, was undoubtedly an act of self-destructive behavior.
Gu Jingyun nodded and walked over to Qu Anruo. She had brought snacks for Qu Anruo from home on her way to the company. Qu Anruo’s eyes lit up when she saw the bag full of snacks.
Just as Qu Anruo was about to reach for the bag, she realized her actions were too obvious. She pulled Gu Jingyun outside until they were out of sight of the artists.
“Thank you, Sister,” Qu Anruo said to Gu Jingyun with a smile while accepting the bag.
Staying by Qu Anruo’s side, Gu Jingyun felt an indescribable sense of comfort.
Qu Anruo, satisfied with her bag of snacks, returned to her office and started eating while looking into the stock market trends of this world.
Meanwhile, Gu Jingyun went to the practice room to watch several artists train. Unbeknownst to Gu Jingyun, one of the Alphas in the corner glared at Gu Jingyun fiercely.
Gu Jingyun seemed to sense something and looked toward that Alpha, but the Alpha immediately returned to a normal expression the moment Gu Jingyun looked her way.
The artists in the practice room knew Gu Jingyun was special, but they didn’t expect her to be able to talk freely with the company’s CEO, Qu. Seeing Gu Jingyun’s not too expensive clothing, a few of them exchanged glances and seemed to understand something as they remained silent.
Gu Jingyun didn’t know she was misunderstood so quickly. She sat in the chair Qu Anruo had used, watching the group and waiting.
After the teacher finished dealing with the artists, he came over and sat next to Gu Jingyun.
“Miss Gu, you act very well, but I think you should be aware of the consequences of your acting method.” The teacher didn’t know Gu Jingyun’s identity, but because she seemed familiar with his boss, his words carried a hint of respect.
“Mhm.” Gu Jingyun was well aware of the consequences. She wasn’t a naturally gifted actress. Although she loved acting, she hadn’t found a solution for her problem of getting deeply into a role and having difficulty exiting it.
Knowing that Gu Jingyun was aware, the teacher didn’t say much more. He patted Gu Jingyun’s shoulder and left.
Gu Jingyun sat in place, smiling bitterly. She didn’t expect that the acting style her school teachers hadn’t even noticed would be seen by this teacher.
She stood up and returned to Qu Anruo’s office.
Qu Anruo was eating snacks. Seeing Gu Jingyun knock and enter, she quickly put down the snacks in her hand.
Gu Jingyun had brought more candies this time. Seeing an empty candy bag on Qu Anruo’s desk, she reminded her, “Eating so much candy will cause tooth decay.”
Qu Anruo was so scared at the thought of getting a cavity that she hurriedly stuffed the remaining candies back into the bag.
【Didn’t expect the host to be afraid of this.】 666 couldn’t help but sigh when it saw Qu Anruo’s obedient reaction.
【You don’t understand.】 Qu Anruo looked pained.
When she was little, her family wouldn’t let her eat candy. Due to her rebellious streak, she would sneak a few pieces every day. One day, she suddenly had a toothache. After her family took her to the dentist, they discovered she had a cavity. She never wanted to experience that kind of pain again.
Seeing Qu Anruo being so obedient, Gu Jingyun checked the time and realized it was time for lunch. “Sister will treat Anruo to lunch, as a reward for Anruo being well-behaved.”
Hearing Gu Jingyun talk to her like a child and offer a reward a perfectly ordinary sentence, yet coming from Gu Jingyun’s mouth. Qu Anruo’s face flushed unconsciously. Feeling the heat on her face, she realized she never knew she was so prone to blushing.
Gu Jingyun noticed that Qu Anruo blushed easily and always looked like she could be easily bullied.
She pulled the blushing Qu Anruo out of the company. Just as Qu Anruo was about to get in the car, the two of them were stopped by a man.
Su Haodang got out of his car, holding a bouquet of bright roses. His hair was slicked back and combed diagonally across his head. As he stepped out, he tried to flip his fixed hairstyle, but it didn’t budge, making him look quite ridiculous.
He approached Gu Jingyun and was about to hand her the roses when Qu Anruo snatched them away. Qu Anruo, with surprising force, threw the roses into Su Haodang’s arms and violently pushed him back into his car.
Su Haodang sat in the car in disbelief, staring at Qu Anruo. A person who looked soft, weak, and hadn’t even differentiated could push him, an S-class Alpha.
At that moment, Qu Anruo’s bodyguards came out and surrounded Su Haodang’s car, guarding it to prevent him from getting out and approaching the two of them.
Only then did Qu Anruo feel safe enough to take Gu Jingyun away. Once in the car, Qu Anruo took out a wet wipe and cleaned the hand that had touched Su Haodang.
“This person is such a weirdo.” Qu Anruo got angry thinking about Su Haodang’s actions just now. After all, she hadn’t even given Gu Jingyun a bouquet yet, and Su Haodang almost got ahead of her. Plus, running into him never led to anything good.
【The male lead will probably come looking for you again.】 666 popped out and said.
【He is no longer the male lead. From the moment I arrived, he ceased to be.】
Listening to Qu Anruo, 666 suddenly felt that Qu Anruo’s tone was very dominant when she was being serious.
“I’m sorry.” Gu Jingyun’s beautiful brows furrowed. She didn’t expect an Alpha to also seek “trouble” with her. More importantly, she had caused trouble for Qu Anruo. Judging by the man’s car and attire, he was probably wealthy and influential in C City.
Qu Anruo comforted her, “It’s not your fault, Sister.” Damn that man, she thought, making the female lead apologize to her. Qu Anruo felt like she wanted to wipe Su Haodang off the face of the earth.
Gu Jingyun pointed out a location on the navigation system for Qu Anruo, who then set the GPS and started driving.
The restaurant was located in a small alley, the kind Qu Anruo had never been to. Since the car couldn’t drive in, Qu Anruo had to park outside. Before they even entered the shop, Qu Anruo could smell the aroma of the food.
Gu Jingyun followed behind Qu Anruo and, seeing her impatient look, knew she had chosen the right place.
When they entered the shop, Qu Anruo discovered it was a small courtyard. Since they arrived early, there weren’t many people in the courtyard. Qu Anruo and Gu Jingyun found a nice spot, sat down, and picked up the menu to order.
The menu featured mostly home cooked dishes. Qu Anruo wasn’t sure what to choose, so she let Gu Jingyun randomly pick a few. Gu Jingyun selected dishes based on the flavors served during meals at the Qu family home.
After they waited for a while, the boss began to serve the dishes. Qu Anruo only thought the food would taste good, but she didn’t expect the presentation to also be appealing, which greatly stimulated her appetite.
Qu Anruo first picked up a piece of the Spicy Chicken Dices closest to her. The moment she tasted it, the fresh, fragrant, numbing, and spicy flavor stimulated her taste buds. Qu Anruo quickly took a sip of water to suppress the heat on her tongue.
Seeing Qu Anruo drink water because of the spiciness, Gu Jingyun asked nervously, “Are you okay?”
Qu Anruo waved her hand, “I’m fine.”
666 looked at the table full of dishes with regret. It didn’t know why, but it could only eat snacks and drink beverages. No matter how many times it tried, these main meals could never appear in its system space. 666, keeping the principle of out of sight, out of mind, disappeared.
Qu Anruo was eating her meal and looking at Gu Jingyun. “Anruo, why are you staring at me?” Gu Jingyun looked up and asked.
Snapping back, Qu Anruo quickly replied, “Ah, it’s nothing.” She lowered her head and ate the food in her bowl. Qu Anruo hadn’t picked up any side dishes herself, so Gu Jingyun noticed her distraction and helped her put some food into her bowl. Gu Jingyun continued to pick up food for Qu Anruo, and Qu Anruo ate it.
After they finished eating, Gu Jingyun got up to pay. Qu Anruo was still a little worried about Su Haodang coming after them.
Sure enough, what you worry about always happens. As the two of them exited the small alley and were about to get into the car, they saw Su Haodang.
“Miss Gu, I hope you can come to my company.” Su Haodang said, holding a contract he wanted to hand to Gu Jingyun.
Qu Anruo quickly stepped in front of Gu Jingyun.
Seeing Qu Anruo, Su Haodang’s expression became unpleasant, “CEO Qu, I was speaking with Miss Gu.”
“She has already signed with my company,” Qu Anruo said, taking Gu Jingyun’s hand.
Seeing how close they were, Su Haodang frowned.
“Miss Gu, I know you’re a smart person. How can Qu Anruo’s new company compare to our Su family’s long-standing company? If you terminate your contract with them, my company can pay your breach of contract fee and arrange for you and your sister to enjoy the best treatment.” Su Haodang spoke with a bit of contempt directed at Qu Anruo.
Qu Anruo felt like applauding Su Haodang, “CEO Su, what big talk.” She thought the Su family’s company would indeed be better off inherited by the Su family’s younger son.
“CEO Qu, isn’t what I said the truth?” Su Haodang raised an eyebrow.
“Gu Jingyun is my person, Su Haodang. Stay away from her,” Qu Anruo said, leading Gu Jingyun away.
Su Haodang tightened his grip on the paper in his hand until the paper was wrinkled before he stopped. He stood behind his car, watching the two of them until they disappeared from his sight.
On the way, Qu Anruo finally asked the question that had been worrying her, “Will Sister go to his company?”
“No.” Gu Jingyun felt that the man didn’t seem like a good person, and his sudden approach must be because he wanted something from her. If she hadn’t signed with Qu Anruo’s company, she probably wouldn’t have considered other companies either.
Hearing Gu Jingyun’s words, Qu Anruo felt relieved. Next, as long as Gu Jingyun didn’t have any contact with Su Haodang, and she herself didn’t become a jerk Alpha, her chances of survival would be much greater.
Gu Jingyun smiled, recalling Qu Anruo saying she was her person just now. She never expected the soft-natured Qu Anruo to say such a domineering thing. It seemed Qu Anruo genuinely valued her.
She remembered that man called her Miaomiao at the banquet, which sounded quite disgusting. She was probably being treated as someone’s stand in. Gu Jingyun sighed. She preferred Qu Anruo, who was so good and so cute.
