The Female Lead Keeps Breaking Her Own Persona - Chapter 36
Gu Jingyun walked amongst the crowd, looking around, but she still couldn’t see Qu Anruo.
Qu Anruo bought a bucket of popcorn and walked while eating it. She had originally planned to play some games, but there were too many people, and she didn’t want to squeeze into the crowd.
After finding a cool spot and finishing her popcorn, Qu Anruo headed to the less crowded haunted house.
【The bloodstains on the walls in the haunted house are quite realistic, though.】 Qu Anruo complained to 666.
666 shivered and dared not look.
The haunted house was pitch black. Qu Anruo walked very cautiously. Suddenly, a white figure appeared at a corner.
“A ghost?” Qu Anruo said and stepped forward to look. The ghost hadn’t expected Qu Anruo not to be afraid of him and even intended to approach, so he quickly ran away.
Gu Jingyun searched the amusement park and finally pinpointed the haunted house. She felt that given Qu Anruo’s personality, she was very likely to go to the haunted house.
At this time, Qu Anruo was hiding in the classroom of a haunted house scene. Several NPCs outside were searching everywhere for players.
She crouched under the podium and only walked out after the footsteps outside disappeared.
Someone was sitting under the podium, but Qu Anruo hadn’t noticed. Just as she was about to leave, that person appeared right in front of her.
That person only had half a head, and brain matter was dripping down, while their mouth made strange noises. Qu Anruo glanced at her and then walked out.
The NPC was left standing there dumbfounded.
【It’s boring, let’s go out and ride the Ferris wheel instead.】 Qu Anruo said, feeling her way through the dark to get out.
Qu Anruo had just left when Gu Jingyun arrived at the classroom door. A strange person was standing in the classroom. Seeing that Qu Anruo wasn’t inside, Gu Jingyun also left.
The NPC stood there blankly, feeling very frustrated. Normally, people would scream and run away when they saw her. Why did these two people not have any reaction at all?
Qu Anruo followed the route provided by 666 and found the Ferris wheel. After the crowd had thinned out, just as she was about to get on, she heard gasps nearby.
A group of people was gathered not far away. Qu Anruo saw the person in the center of the crowd.
“Jie Jie (older sister)…” Seeing that it was Gu Jingyun, Qu Anruo rushed into the crowd and grabbed Gu Jingyun.
“Please move aside.” The fans actually listened and obediently made way. However, after Qu Anruo led Gu Jingyun away, they realized what happened and chased after them.
The fans kept chasing the two of them. Qu Anruo led Gu Jingyun through the crowd.
When they reached the haunted house, Qu Anruo took Gu Jingyun and hid in that classroom.
The fans split up and searched the haunted house but couldn’t find the two of them.
Qu Anruo sighed in relief and sat down on a chair. “Jie Jie, why are you here?” she said, looking at Gu Jingyun in the dark.
“I…” Before Gu Jingyun could finish speaking, Qu Anruo pulled her away. “Let’s find a safe place first.” Taking advantage of the fact that the fans weren’t paying attention, Qu Anruo led Gu Jingyun out of the haunted house and onto the Ferris wheel.
From the Ferris wheel, they could see everything below clearly. Qu Anruo watched them come out of the haunted house, give up, and disperse.
Qu Anruo looked up at Gu Jingyun: “Jie Jie, shouldn’t you be on the set right now?”
“I asked Yuan Yuan for your location,” Gu Jingyun said, sitting down next to Qu Anruo.
“Anruo, are you angry with me?” Hearing Gu Jingyun’s voice, Qu Anruo didn’t dare to look at her. She was afraid that one look at Gu Jingyun’s face would cause her to fail in her mission.
“That’s right, I’m angry,” Qu Anruo huffed and moved away from Gu Jingyun.
Gu Jingyun took out the gift she had bought for Qu Anruo. “Here.” Qu Anruo didn’t take it at first, but Gu Jingyun directly opened the box and took out the necklace.
She bent slightly, leaned close to Qu Anruo, brushed aside the hair in front of her, and lowered her head to put it on her.
“It looks beautiful.” Gu Jingyun looked at the blue gemstone in the center of the necklace. The gemstone was left to her by her mother and had been kept by her until now.
The gemstone was hand-set and emitted a pale blue light in the sunlight.
Qu Anruo picked up the gemstone and examined it closely, always feeling that it looked familiar, like she had seen it somewhere before.
“Thank you…” She didn’t know why, but seeing this necklace gave her a strange feeling.
The Ferris wheel had reached the very top. Qu Anruo suddenly remembered a saying she had read.
It is said that wishes made at the highest point of the Ferris wheel are likely to come true.
If it were true, she wished she could be with Gu Jingyun forever, without separation.
The two of them finally sat in the car together. Yuan Yuan felt relieved seeing the two of them reconciled.
After dropping Gu Jingyun back at the set: “I have to go now, goodbye, Jie Jie.” Qu Anruo said and left. Gu Jingyun thought Qu Anruo would return with her, and she withdrew her hand with a little disappointment.
On the way to the hotel booked by Yuan Yuan, Qu Anruo took off the necklace and looked at it. She was sure she hadn’t seen it anywhere else, but the familiar feeling was really hard for her to shake off.
Gu Jingyun returned to the set. Seeing that Qu Anruo wasn’t following Gu Jingyun, Director Bai patted Gu Jingyun’s shoulder in comfort.
Qu Anruo went back and took a hot shower. After coming out of the bathroom feeling refreshed, she dried her hair, attempting to contact Wang Chu.
“CEO Qu, is something the matter?” Wang Chu answered the phone this time, but it was a bit noisy on her end.
“Sister Wang, Director Bai wants me to play the second female lead in her movie.” Hearing Qu Anruo’s words, Wang Chu angrily punched the wall.
It seemed Xu Nanxi really wanted to run away.
However, Wang Chu’s tone was as gentle as before when speaking to Qu Anruo. She smiled and said to Qu Anruo: “Yes, I will send someone to talk to Director Bai. CEO Qu, have you eaten?”
Qu Anruo suddenly remembered that she hadn’t eaten. No wonder she felt like something was missing. She hung up and ordered takeout.
Yuan Yuan was usually with Gu Jingyun. After Gu Jingyun finished filming, she remembered an assistant named An An from a few days ago.
“Why hasn’t An An come?” Gu Jingyun’s question made Yuan Yuan hesitate for a moment, and then she remembered.
Yuan Yuan didn’t know what Qu Anruo planned to do next, so she came up with an excuse: “She had something come up and went back to her hometown.”
“Oh, is that so?” Gu Jingyun asked while sipping her tea. Yuan Yuan nodded.
Qu Anruo started eating after the takeout was delivered. She couldn’t stay with Gu Jingyun tonight, so it seemed she was destined to have a sleepless night.
Early the next morning, Qu Anruo, with dark circles under her eyes, was called to the set by Director Bai.
“Jingyun, there’s a surprise in a moment.” Director Bai said mysteriously to Gu Jingyun.
Gu Jingyun didn’t check her phone often, so she naturally didn’t know that Qu Anruo was going to play the second female lead.
Director Bai led some people out to welcome Qu Anruo. Gu Jingyun also followed, wanting to see this actress.
But unexpectedly, the person who got out of the car was Qu Anruo. Gu Jingyun thought the actress playing the second female lead hadn’t arrived yet, but then she saw Director Bai welcoming Qu Anruo.
“Welcome, CEO Qu, to our crew,” Director Bai looked at Qu Anruo with a beaming smile.
Gu Jingyun heard this and finally believed that Qu Anruo was playing the second female lead.
“Hello, Jie Jie. My job is on the set this time. You won’t drive me away, will you?” Qu Anruo playfully walked up to Gu Jingyun.
“Anruo, why did you suddenly decide to act?” Hearing Gu Jingyun’s question, Qu Anruo smiled. “Of course, it’s so I can be with Jie Jie every moment.”
“Acting is not a joke,” Gu Jingyun looked at Qu Anruo somewhat seriously.
Qu Anruo didn’t say anything. After her makeup was done, Qu Anruo stood in front of Gu Jingyun.
Action!
This scene was their first meeting.
“Miss, please slow down.” Several servants followed behind Wanyao. “Hurry up, or we’ll be late.” It was a rare opportunity for her to go out while her father was away on a trip.
“Miss!” The servant cried out, seeing that their miss was about to bump into someone. Unfortunately, it was too late.
“Hiss…” Muyan held her sore chest where she was bumped. “I’m sorry, are you okay…” Looking at the woman in front of her, Wanyao was stunned.
The woman in front of her was more beautiful than anyone she had ever seen.
Seeing Wanyao in a daze, Muyan put on her hat with confusion, ready to move away from this strange woman.
Wanyao saw Muyan about to leave and stopped her: “Um, may I ask what your name is, Miss?”
Cut!
“Very good, take a break.” Considering it was Qu Anruo’s first time acting, Director Bai stopped the scene quickly. Qu Anruo was a pleasant surprise she hadn’t expected her acting skills to be better than she had anticipated.
Qu Anruo greatly surprised Gu Jingyun. Qu Anruo was even able to act out being stunned so well just now. Gu Jingyun had underestimated her.
Qu Anruo had received various forms of education since she was a child, even learning some expression management. The content of the scene just now was not difficult for her, and facing Gu Jingyun’s face, it really could make her stare blankly.
Director Bai felt like she had found a treasure, and she happily looked at the footage.
“Anruo, have some water.” Gu Jingyun handed the water cup to Qu Anruo. “It’s a shame An An isn’t here; otherwise, she could help Yuan Yuan share some of the load.”
Hearing Gu Jingyun’s words, Qu Anruo coughed. “Sister Wang will send another assistant over later.” After Qu Anruo said this, she remembered that she hadn’t paid attention to Lan Yixi recently.
【666, where is Lan Yixi now?】 666 heard this and searched for Lan Yixi’s location.
【Host, Lan Yixi is near the set right now, but she’s filming a small cannon fodder role.】 The fact that Lan Yixi hadn’t caused any trouble was quite unexpected for Qu Anruo.
Perhaps she could make use of Lan Yixi.
The assistant sent by Wang Chu was as versatile as Yuan Yuan. Yuan Yuan looked at the cold person in front of her and was afraid she would steal her job.
“Isn’t that good? You can rest a bit more.” Seeing Yuan Yuan’s worried expression, Qu Anruo thought she was afraid that the new assistant was too strong and would steal her rice bowl.
“No, CEO Qu. I think I need to work even harder.” Yuan Yuan said and went to ask the new assistant for advice.
“Young people really are energetic,” Qu Anruo couldn’t help but sigh while looking at Yuan Yuan.
“Anruo is only 21, how is that not young?” Gu Jingyun’s words reminded Qu Anruo that she was only 21.
She was only 21. Why did she feel like she was very old, always physically and mentally exhausted?
The second scene started. Director Bai was satisfied with the results and waved her hand, letting everyone go back to rest.
“Dinner’s on me tonight,” Director Bai said and left happily.
Qu Anruo held the pendant in her hand. Lately, she kept having dreams where she would jump from a very tall building. It was very real, so real that Qu Anruo felt like it was actually happening every time she jumped in the dream.
Once, twice, thrice…
Innumerable shadows overlapped, making Qu Anruo feel a headache coming on.
