The Female Lead Keeps Breaking Her Own Persona - Chapter 30
“Taking leave? Are you sick?” Hearing Qu Anruo say she needed to take Gu Jingyun to the hospital, Director Bai readily agreed.
“Thank you, Director Bai.” After Qu Anruo spoke, she arranged a car to take her and Gu Jingyun to the hospital.
Throughout the ride, Qu Anruo leaned her head against the window, watching outside, and the atmosphere between the two was somehow strange.
Gu Jingyun wanted to say something but ultimately kept silent.
After arriving at the hospital, the specialist first examined Gu Jingyun. Looking at the results, the specialist frowned as she looked at Gu Jingyun.
Seeing the specialist’s serious expression, Qu Anruo looked worried: “What’s wrong? Is the situation not good?” The specialist shook her head after hearing this. Her face held a hint of excitement: “It’s better than I expected, and comparing the results to the last time, the condition has significantly lightened. Miss Gu, have you encountered or done anything recently?”
Gu Jingyun pondered for a moment, then suddenly seemed to recall something and looked at Qu Anruo. The specialist followed her gaze and also looked at Qu Anruo. “President Qu, why don’t we give you an examination too, while we’re at it?” the specialist said with a smile to Qu Anruo.
Qu Anruo pushed her hair away from her neck, allowing the specialist to examine her. The specialist only glanced and was very surprised. “This… President Qu, who were you with?” She whispered very vaguely into Qu Anruo’s ear. Qu Anruo blushed and nodded.
Upon learning this, the specialist began to examine her. In her undeveloped gland, she found a residual trace of pheromones. The sequence of the pheromones was identical to Gu Jingyun’s. It was easy to guess whose it was.
The specialist quickly understood the relationship between the two. “Are you two in a relationship?” After hearing the specialist’s words, Gu Jingyun’s ears turned red, and she looked away. Seeing Gu Jingyun’s reaction, the specialist felt her guess was spot on: “President Qu, Miss Gu’s condition might be improving because of you. Perhaps you two could have frequent intimate contact to alleviate Miss Gu’s condition.” Hearing the specialist’s surprisingly bold suggestion, Qu Anruo was caught off guard and coughed in shock.
The two quickly left the area after getting the medicine prescribed by the specialist. The specialist watched the amusing pair leave, somewhat reluctantly waving goodbye from behind.
Seeing Gu Jingyun silent the whole way back in the car, Qu Anruo worried that Gu Jingyun was bothered by the specialist’s words: “Sister, you don’t have to listen to that person.” She was afraid Gu Jingyun would ignore her again.
Gu Jingyun gave a small ‘hmm’ and looked out the window.
Yesterday, she seemed to have had a very strange dream, and only now did she recall some fragmented details. In the dream, she was constantly searching for something, but was always trapped in one spot, as if confined by something. She seemed to be looking for someone… Thinking of this, Gu Jingyun suddenly had a headache.
“Sister, are you unwell?” Qu Anruo handed Gu Jingyun a bottle of water and asked. Gu Jingyun twisted the cap open and took a sip: “Just a bit of a headache. I probably didn’t sleep well last night.” After speaking, she closed her eyes, pretending to rest.
Seeing this, Qu Anruo told the driver to drive slowly and remained silent. She quietly rested her head on her hand, watching Gu Jingyun. Light filtered through the glass and fell upon Gu Jingyun. Her hair gleamed, and Gu Jingyun seemed to be enveloped in a holy light.
Good times are always brief. Qu Anruo hadn’t had a chance to look longer when they already reached the hotel. Reluctantly, Qu Anruo had to wake Gu Jingyun up.
As the two entered the hotel, they saw Su Haodang walking towards them.
“Jingyun? What a coincidence.” He said and came right up to Gu Jingyun. Qu Anruo watched Su Haodang with a fake smile. Heh, Jingyun, what an intimate way to address her.
Gu Jingyun, feeling disgusted by Su Haodang’s familiar address, immediately pulled Qu Anruo, intending to leave. Su Haodang was about to catch up to them when his assistant called out to him. “What is it?” Su Haodang looked at the assistant impatiently.
“President Su, Miss is back.” The assistant, sweating coldly, spoke tremblingly. “Miaomiao?” Su Haodang strode away from the hotel immediately after hearing this. The assistant wiped the cold sweat from his head and followed him.
“Brother! I’m back!” Yan Miaomiao threw down her luggage and called out to Su Haodang upon returning home.
Mother Su looked at Miaomiao: “Miaomiao is back. Haohao hasn’t arrived home yet. Miaomiao, wash your hands and come eat quickly.” Yan Miaomiao nodded and cautiously looked at Su Haoyan coming down from upstairs. “Haoyan Ge…” Seeing Yan Miaomiao’s frail appearance combined with her intentionally soft voice, Su Haoyan felt a wave of disgust.
“I am not your brother. Don’t speak to me like that.” Su Haoyan truly disliked Yan Miaomiao she was constantly being subtly manipulative, and his brother was equally irritating for falling for the sister they grew up with.
No matter how much Su Haoyan disliked Yan Miaomiao, he absolutely would not allow Su Haodang to harbor any inappropriate thoughts about her.
“I’m sorry, I… I didn’t mean to…” Yan Miaomiao quickly lowered her head to apologize. “How did Miaomiao provoke you? Su Haoyan, why is your temper so odd!” Father Su, hearing this from the side, spoke to Su Haoyan angrily.
Yan Miaomiao was entrusted to him by a friend, and he had always treated her like his own daughter.
Su Haoyan looked at the two and went upstairs with a gloomy face. In his room, Su Haoyan opened the wardrobe. Photos of the family were pasted inside, and all the faces in the photos were scratched out, except for Yan Miaomiao’s. Su Haoyan looked at the scratches, satisfied, and ran his hand over them.
Gu Jingyun held Qu Anruo’s hand all the way. Many people watched them along the way, but Gu Jingyun didn’t notice. She just wanted to get back to the room quickly.
After returning to the room, Gu Jingyun locked the door. She stood with her back against the door, her head down. “Sister?” Qu Anruo called out, looking at Gu Jingyun who was still holding her hand.
Gu Jingyun suddenly hugged Qu Anruo. She realized that only when she was close to Qu Anruo could she feel secure. Absorbing the sweet scent from Qu Anruo, Gu Jingyun felt a sense of peace and closed her eyes, burying her head in Qu Anruo’s neck.
Qu Anruo stood motionless, her hands awkwardly raised. Finally, she cautiously wrapped her arms around Gu Jingyun and gently patted her back for comfort.
Unconsciously, the two slowly moved toward the sofa. Fearing Gu Jingyun was too tired from standing, Qu Anruo gently led her to sit on the sofa. Gu Jingyun rested her head in Qu Anruo’s embrace, listening to her steady, strong heartbeat.
After an unknown period of holding each other, Gu Jingyun finally let go of Qu Anruo.
“Sister, do you like me?” Qu Anruo asked casually. Gu Jingyun pursed her lips and didn’t respond. “Since Sister isn’t speaking, that means you like me.” Qu Anruo smiled at Gu Jingyun. Gu Jingyun lifted her head: “Anruo, I’m scared…” She tightly clasped her hands, finally deciding to speak her mind.
“My illness doesn’t permit me to be with anyone. I’m afraid that after you differentiate, we’ll still have to separate because of this.” Gu Jingyun finished speaking with a painful sigh.
Qu Anruo crouched down in front of Gu Jingyun and held her hands: “Sister, you don’t believe in me.” She said, looking at Gu Jingyun’s eyes with a pitiable expression.
“That’s not what I meant.” Gu Jingyun explained in a flurry. “After I differentiate, if I still like Sister very much, can we be together then?” Qu Anruo asked this. Gu Jingyun hesitated, but finally nodded.
【That’s great!】Qu Anruo happily hugged Gu Jingyun.
【Host, don’t celebrate too early. The female lead’s favorability hasn’t reached 100 yet.】666 poured cold water on her from the side.
Qu Anruo directly ignored 666, and nestled affectionately beside Gu Jingyun.
The two arrived at the set. Director Bai, seeing Qu Anruo’s happy expression, asked: “You two made up?”
Qu Anruo nodded happily. “That’s good.” Director Bai had been worried that Gu Jingyun’s performance might be affected by personal emotions.
To get home faster, Su Haodang went as far as chartering a private jet. Qu Anruo would surely laugh her head off if she knew.
“Miaomiao!” He called out Yan Miaomiao’s name the moment he got home.
Yan Miaomiao ran out of the room and leaped into Su Haodang’s arms: “Brother!”
Father Su frowned from the side, watching their behavior. Should he remind Su Haodang that Yan Miaomiao was grown up now and they shouldn’t be so close? But he also feared he was overthinking things.
Mindful that Father Su was still around, Su Haodang quickly made Yan Miaomiao get off him.
He pulled Yan Miaomiao to sit on the sofa and asked her like an “older brother”: “Miaomiao, how was it abroad? Did you adapt?”
Yan Miaomiao nodded, “It was okay, but I felt very lonely without Mom and Dad around.” Yan Miaomiao said, showing a slight look of unhappiness.
Hearing that Yan Miaomiao still cared about them, Father and Mother Su were also very happy.
“Dad, Mom, I want to enter the entertainment industry.” As soon as Yan Miaomiao said this, she was met with Su Haodang’s objection.
“No way!” Su Haodang looked at Yan Miaomiao sternly. If Yan Miaomiao and Gu Jingyun met, it would be troublesome. If Yan Miaomiao found out what he had done, they probably wouldn’t even be able to be siblings anymore.
Yan Miaomiao had a clean and cold-looking face, but her voice was surprisingly contrasting. She asked pitifully: “Why not?”
Father and Mother Su on the side were also confused about why their son was so quick to refuse. But Su Haodang said nothing and quickly went upstairs.
Downstairs, Father Su agreed to Yan Miaomiao’s decision. After all, the child was grown, and since their family was wealthy, she could do whatever she wanted.
After shooting a scene, Director Bai said to Gu Jingyun with satisfaction: “The next scene is a water scene! Jingyun, go prepare.”
Gu Jingyun walked over to Qu Anruo. Qu Anruo had been sitting there quietly watching her act. Seeing Gu Jingyun approach, a smile appeared on Qu Anruo’s face.
“Sister, come quickly.” She said, shifting slightly to make room for Gu Jingyun. Actually, the original spot was plenty big, and Gu Jingyun could have sat down even if Qu Anruo hadn’t moved. Seeing Qu Anruo’s actions, Gu Jingyun covered her mouth and smiled.
Qu Anruo thoughtfully offered Gu Jingyun some cooling mung bean sorbet. Fortunately, it wasn’t yet autumn, so the water scene wouldn’t be too cold, but Qu Anruo was still a bit concerned about Gu Jingyun’s safety.
“Sister, can you swim?” Gu Jingyun put down her spoon after hearing this: “Yes.” Qu Anruo then worried about any potential accidents: “Is the safety equipment on the set ready? Are rescue personnel arranged?”
Qu Anruo’s questions were overheard by Director Bai, who was about to grab a snack. “Don’t worry, it’s fine.” Director Bai said, taking the sorbet next to Qu Anruo and eating it.
“Hey? That’s mine.” Qu Anruo said, trying to snatch the sorbet back, but Director Bai held it high above his head, looking smugly at her.
Qu Anruo huffed and was about to ask Yuan Yuan to buy her another one. Gu Jingyun scooped up a spoonful of sorbet and offered it to Qu Anruo’s mouth.
