The Fallen Film Queen’s Possessive Alpha - Chapter 49
Song Haoyin and Zhou Qiwei were in the midst of a cold war or more accurately, it was Song Haoyin’s one-sided cold war.
That day at the hospital, after everyone else had left, Song Haoyin leaned against the bed and looked at her girlfriend with a serious expression. “You’re a child of the Zhou family. Not some distant relative, but the biological daughter of the head of Jiuzhou. That’s correct, isn’t it?”
“Mm,” Zhou Qiwei admitted meekly, standing by the bed with her head lowered like a pitiful little bird. “But I’m not illegitimate.”
“Aside from this, is there anything else you’ve been keeping from me?”
Zhou Qiwei hesitated, prompting Song Haoyin to issue an ultimatum: “If you’re hiding something from me, Qiwei, you’d better be able to hide it for the rest of your life. Otherwise. ”
That ominous “otherwise” forced Zhou Qiwei to make a choice confess or continue hiding. Could she really keep it a secret forever?
Seeing the encouraging smile in Song Haoyin’s eyes, she thought that if she told the truth, maybe she’d be forgiven.
Surely, right?
Song Haoyin’s gaze was gentle, but she knew Zhou Qiwei was hiding something.
She wasn’t angry. Every adult had their secrets, and even lovers needed some independence. Maintaining a sense of mystery was necessary to keep the relationship fresh. But that didn’t mean they could be dishonest about crucial matters.
If Zhou Qiwei had outright said, “I don’t want to talk about this,” Song Haoyin could have accepted it. What she couldn’t tolerate was deliberate deception.
What Song Haoyin never expected was the “surprise” Zhou Qiwei gave her. The CEO stammered out that she had a hormonal disorder, and Song Haoyin’s pheromones had helped stabilize. even begun to cure her condition. After their first meeting at the Caesar Hotel, she had discovered this, which was why she had gone to such lengths to get close to her afterward.
Ah…
Honestly, it felt like the other shoe had finally dropped. For a moment, Song Haoyin thought she should be satisfied Zhou Qiwei had told the truth and hadn’t lied to her.
But another part of her felt deeply disappointed. So it was because she was useful that Zhou Qiwei had invested time, effort, and money not because of her own appeal.
Still, seeing the usually confident, almost arrogant Zhou Qiwei standing there with her head bowed, not daring to look at her, Song Haoyin decided that focusing on the present and cherishing the person in front of her was what mattered most.
But she was still furious.
Zhou Qiwei didn’t dare raise her head. When she heard Song Haoyin’s breathing grow heavier, she belatedly realized she might have answered a fatal question wrong. Maybe she shouldn’t have confessed after all!
“Come here.”
The beauty’s voice was icy. Zhou Qiwei found herself frozen, moving like a robot as she mechanically took two stiff steps forward, crouched down, and met Song Haoyin’s gaze.
Oh no, she looks like she’s about to cry. Quick, think of something to say, what can I even say? Zhou Qiwei’s chaotic thoughts came to an abrupt halt when Song Haoyin suddenly lunged forward and bit down hard on her collarbone.
Ow, ow, ow stop biting!
Dr. Zhou only dared to scream internally, not daring to pull away. When Song Haoyin finally released her, she gingerly touched the mark at least it wasn’t bleeding.
Song Haoyin didn’t use much force, but seeing Zhou Qiwei startled yet not even attempting to dodge made her inexplicably angrier. The seasoned actress’s imagination ran wild Zhou Qiwei, abused since childhood, finally raised with love by her grandmother, only to suffer from pheromone disorder, and then meeting her, developing feelings that shouldn’t have existed.
Wanting to leave but unable to, their bond deepening through unavoidable contact. Now complications arose, secrets exposed, love and hate intertwined.
Organize it a bit, and it could make a two-hour romance film. The box office would depend on the ending happy or tragic?
If Zhou Qiwei only saw her as medicine, things would be much simpler. Song Haoyin realized she wasn’t as resentful anymore. She shifted to the other side of the bed, patting it to signal Zhou Qiwei to come up.
Due to emotional turmoil, Zhou Qiwei’s face was pale pink. Song Haoyin propped herself up, looking down at Zhou Qiwei’s face before finally reaching out to touch it.
Sure enough, the texture was concealer. After wiping Zhou Qiwei’s face clean, clear red marks of swelling became starkly visible on her fair skin.
Miss Song’s heart burned with fury hitting someone’s face was humiliation. When Zuo Wangxun had slapped her before, Zhou Qiwei had struck back. Now, Zhou Qiwei had taken this hit for her. By reason and emotion, Song Haoyin had to return that slap for her girlfriend.
Seemingly no longer angry, Zhou Qiwei buried her head under the blanket, playing ostrich. Song Haoyin gently stroked her neck and suddenly asked, “How’s your pheromone disorder now?”
“Not bad. I went for a checkup recently, and overall, it’s improving.”
Zhou Qiwei lifted her head. Though Song Haoyin wasn’t smiling, her expression was gentle. She moved closer, pressing against her girlfriend, and whispered, “I’m luckier than Ange.”
Meeting you is my luck, and Ange’s too. But saying that would only make Zhou Qiwei smug. Song Haoyin smoothed her hair without another word.
That evening, Song Haoyin still held an online press conference. Xu Su orchestrated it seamlessly, even leveraging the moment to promote Rubik’s Industries’ “public welfare campaign” focusing on pheromone disorders, inviting Song Haoyin to be the initiative’s ambassador.
In the end, the matter was resolved perfectly. Zhou Qiwei thought she had smoothly passed the test and peacefully fell asleep in Song Haoyin’s hospital room.
The tenderness ended abruptly the next morning. Song Haoyin, following the doctor’s orders, stayed overnight for observation and was free to leave if nothing was amiss. Zhou Qiwei woke up groggily, remembering she had to go for a checkup, only to open her eyes and find the room empty Song Haoyin had vanished without a trace.
Only a sticky note on the bedside table remained, reading: The cold war begins.
A frustrated shout echoed from the VIP room. A passing doctor hurried away. Miss Song had actually gone for her checkup at six in the morning and quietly left the hospital, abandoning her girlfriend there.
Fighting couples were terrifying.
Xuan Tinglu and Qu Yuanzhi’s relationship was peculiar. Strictly speaking, they were friends. But Yuanbao had been the apple of her mothers’ eyes since childhood. On all important holidays and family gatherings, Yuanbao had never spent a single moment alone at school.
In contrast, Xuan Tinglu and Zhou Qiwei found some common ground her mother was too busy, so the two naturally grew closer and spent more time together. Later, when Zhou Qiwei enlisted early, removing her as the bridge, Qu Yuanzhi pursued directing while Xuan Tinglu focused on entrepreneurship. Their relationship settled somewhere between acquaintances and close friends not quite intimate, but familiar enough.
Still, they could always grab a drink together.
“When did you find out?”
The question seemed abrupt, but Xuan Tinglu immediately knew what she meant. Twirling her glass, she replied, “Back in high school, during that parent-teacher meeting when Du Xin couldn’t make it for her university exams, so Auntie Du came instead.”
Qu Yuanzhi vaguely recalled which meeting it was, but frowned. “Why don’t I remember seeing Auntie Du there?”
Because you were busy picking up your mom,” Xuan Tinglu said helplessly. “Auntie Du didn’t even attend Qiwei sent her home.”
Huh? Something about that didn’t add up. Qu Yuanzhi frowned, puzzled.
“You didn’t actually think Qiwei was some pitiful little victim in the Zhou family, did you?”
Seeing Qu Yuanzhi’s bewildered look, Xuan Tinglu knew her old friend had misunderstood. “Someone like her? She was already picking fights with Zhou Zhao as a kid, preferring death over surrender. With that kind of temper, as long as she doesn’t torment herself, she’s the one making others miserable. No one dares force her into anything she doesn’t want.”
“Take this situation do you really think Madam Zhou didn’t want to publicly declare Qiwei as her daughter?”
Xuan Tinglu nearly laughed at the thought. “Qiwei refused. One word from her, and the Zhou family had to drop it.”
When Zhou Qiwei decided to enlist, Xuan Tinglu once asked what she’d do if the Zhous wouldn’t let it go. Her response had been telling: If they pushed her, she’d find a way to stay in the navy. Though she disliked the rigid military environment, Qiwei was pragmatic secure a livelihood first.
If the Zhous were determined to make her life hell, she’d flip the table and walk away.
“The Zhous have been wealthy for generations they’re not lacking in judgment, and Madam Zhou’s discernment is beyond question. But when your own flesh and blood would rather shatter than bend, what can you do? Financial control is useless, physical restraint unrealistic. It’s not like they’d lobotomize her into some obedient puppet over this.”
Xuan Tinglu’s dark joke sent a chill down Qu Yuanzhi’s spine, but she couldn’t deny the logic. Maintaining the status quo preserved dignity for both sides. If things escalated, blood ties aside, even from a purely pragmatic standpoint. could the Zhous afford to lose at least two heirs if Qiwei went nuclear?
“Isn’t Du Xin coming?”
Qu Yuanzhi yawned. She had a driver, but Xuan Tinglu had driven herself someone needed to make sure she got home.
To her surprise, Xuan Tinglu fake-sobbed. The newly minted Chairwoman Xuan lamented that Du Xin was, yet again, away on business!
“Zhou Qiwei, that absolute menace! She restructured the company just to keep Du Xin and me apart!”
“Serves her right that Song Haoyin’s giving her the cold shoulder!”
Mentioning this, Yuanbao didn’t want to leave anymore. She gloated as she told Xuan Tinglu: “You don’t know this, but Qiwei can’t even get through the doors of the Ferris Wheel building now!”
Left sighing before the gate.
Dr. Zhou gazed mournfully at the Ferris Wheel building, sighing so heavily that Song Ange’s scalp tingled: “My sister never said you couldn’t enter. Senior, what are you doing?”
“But she said we’re in a cold war, and her anger hasn’t subsided yet. Wouldn’t it be inappropriate for me to barge in?” Zhou Qiwei stirred her coffee with a gloomy expression.
No wonder her sister had been restless lately unhappy when she saw the flowers Qiwei sent, even unhappier when she didn’t see them. Every morning, if Zhou Qiwei’s roses didn’t arrive, her sister would grow anxious.
What kind of act are you two putting on?
No wonder they say the wise don’t fall in love. Romance really does torment emotions. I’ll never fall in love, Song Ange thought to herself. I’ll devote my limited life to infinite research!
A week-long cold war was about enough.
In the Ferris Wheel’s fitness room, Song Haoyin’s face flushed red as she lifted dumbbells. While continuously “torturing” her muscles, she spared what little energy remained to consider whether to reconcile with Zhou Qiwei.
She had declared a cold war and forbidden Qiwei from coming to the company, and the woman had vanished without a trace only sending a bouquet of flowers every day, punctually delivered. At most, Ange occasionally provided updates, like how Senior Zhou would come to drink coffee outside the Ferris Wheel building after leaving the research institute.
Was Zhou Qiwei being too honest in love, or was she naturally cunning?
Song Haoyin held her breath and finished her last set of dumbbell rows. Her personal trainer helped her put down the weights, and after resting for a few minutes, prepared to massage her muscles. Just then, the training room door swung open, and Zhou Qiwei hurried in: “I have to go on a business trip leaving at midnight. Do you have time now? There’s something I want to give you.”
“Don’t say things like that!”
Physical exhaustion had left her mind unclear, and this obvious flag-like declaration triggered Haoyin’s fear.
But then, whether intentionally or not, Zhou Qiwei actually said: “Don’t misunderstand I mean the fruit of our love! I want to give it to you.”
In less than half an hour, the latest gossip had spread throughout the entire Ferris Wheel building: “President Zhou is going to give her and Haoyin-jie’s love child to Haoyin-jie!”
On the internal network, the most popular theory was that Zhou Qiwei had conducted some bizarre human experiment and created a child between her and Song Haoyin.
Though it sounded absurd, it wasn’t impossible. Wasn’t that what mad scientists did daring to attempt any experiment?
Bewildered and uneasy, Song Haoyin let Zhou Qiwei lead her into a car. As they drove, familiar scenery appeared, and Haoyin’s lips parted slightly she knew exactly where this was.
“You bought the house back?”
After getting out of the car, Zhou Qiwei happily took Haoyin’s hand and led her to the villa’s entrance. Without answering the question, she simply smiled, opened the door, then bowed and gestured for Haoyin to enter.
Not just the house, but everything everything that had once belonged to Song Haoyin, was now back in place. The collectibles she had sold were carefully arranged inside the home once more. As Song Haoyin walked through the rooms, she felt a fleeting illusion that nothing had changed. This was the first place she had lived in as an adult, the first home she had made for herself after coming of age and winning awards.
“I didn’t expect this ”
Song Haoyin tilted her head slightly, as if casually wiping her eyes, before finally smiling and saying, “I’ve been looking for a place too.” Living with her younger sister, plus Zhou Qiwei’s frequent visits, made the apartment less than ideal.
“This was the first home you chose for yourself.”
Zhou Qiwei spoke earnestly, standing in the doorway with the light behind her. Song Haoyin couldn’t quite make out her expression, only hearing her ask again, “Might I have the honor of requesting the owner’s permission to have a room of my own in this house?”
“Just one room might not be enough.”
Song Haoyin walked toward her, closing the distance until she could see the same warmth reflected in both their eyes. Slowly, she asked, “Would Miss Zhou mind sharing the same bedroom with me instead?”
