Chapter 41: Symphonic Poem Four
The two words “lesbian intimacy” hit Lu Jiayin like a bolt of lightning, leaving her completely stunned. She hadn’t expected Zhen Zhen to have seen that fleeting hot search, and moreover, to have taken it quite seriously.
Seeing her speechless expression, Zhen Zhen became even more displeased. She raised her eyelashes, her willow-leaf eyes holding dark pupils that stared into Lu Jiayin’s soul like cold stars, as if trying to probe her depths.
Although she knew Zhen Zhen was drunk, Lu Jiayin still felt nervous under that gaze, instinctively wanting to withdraw the hand pinching Zhen Zhen’s cheek.
Zhen Zhen gave a dissatisfied “hmph.” The next second, she quickly grabbed Lu Jiayin’s hand and gently pulled her in her direction.
The sudden force caused Lu Jiayin to tumble forward. Before she could react, a pair of arms tightly wrapped around her slender waist. The rich aroma of red wine rushed over her, enveloping her like a cloud.
Zhen Zhen sucked at her lips like a small animal while muttering incoherently: “I confirmed it with you before I left. Lu Jiayin is mine… You liar…”
The wine-tinged lips continually ground against Lu Jiayin’s, and the slightly intoxicated breath permeated every pore, making her senses feel slightly drunk as well. Lu Jiayin was hugged tightly, almost being melted into that scorching embrace.
She had to clutch Zhen Zhen’s lapels, slightly struggling during a break for air, and playfully whimpered: “Since you say I’m a liar, why are you still kissing me?”
As she said this, she was still melting in Zhen Zhen’s embrace. Her almond eyes held a watery, moist sheen, her eyelashes fluttered slightly, and her delicate red lips were even more vibrant after being sucked. Zhen Zhen stared intently at that red spot, huffily kissing her again: “Because I like you.”
Even when she was this frustrated and unhappy from jealousy, she still couldn’t bring herself to let go of this person. Her lips rubbed against Lu Jiayin’s slender neck, showering her with a moist, rainy breath.
Lu Jiayin tilted her head back, allowing the intimacy. Zhen Zhen was three years younger than her, but in their daily interactions, she always behaved maturely and steadily. Only when drunk did she reveal this strikingly adorable side.
She was like a puppy with wet, dark eyes, anxiously following its owner, never actively demanding affection, only quietly nudging and sniffing with a wet nose, making one’s heart unwittingly soften.
“I like you too,” Lu Jiayin laughed, wrapping her arms around Zhen Zhen’s neck and affectionately rubbing her cheek against hers. “And I wasn’t having ‘lesbian intimacy’ with anyone else. Didn’t I come back to cling to you?”
Their embrace was very close. Zhen Zhen saw Lu Jiayin’s slightly parted red lips curl up before her, seductive and captivating. The faint scent on her body mixed with the lingering aroma of red wine in the room, merging into an intoxicating fragrance.
The palm resting on her slender waist unconsciously grew hot, slowly tracing the soft curve downward.
“I prepared a gift for you.”
In her semi-conscious state, Zhen Zhen suddenly felt Lu Jiayin’s arm around her neck pull her closer, whispering: “If you want it, stop acting up here. Be a good girl and come back to the bedroom with me.”
She originally didn’t want to let go, but hearing the tempting proposal, Zhen Zhen weighed her options and decided to listen to her.
Taking advantage of her relaxed attitude, Lu Jiayin slipped out of Zhen Zhen’s arms, pulled her up from the carpet, wrinkled her nose, and coaxed: “You smell completely of wine. Go wash up quickly. I’ll wait for you in the bedroom with the gift.”
At this point, Zhen Zhen felt she had no resistance to anything Lu Jiayin said. She nodded blankly and turned toward the bathroom.
After a hot shower, her scattered senses seemed to recover slightly. While drying her hair, Zhen Zhen belatedly wondered if it had been her hallucination. Did Lu Jiayin truly come home so suddenly?
To confirm she wasn’t dreaming, she dropped the bath towel and ran toward the bedroom door.
The room was filled with starlight.
No lights were on in the room, but small clusters of starlight shimmered brightly by the bay window.
The person on the bed seemed to have changed clothes. A cream-colored silk robe enveloped her delicate body, falling down along her smooth calves. A pair of bare feet, without a thread, rested on the edge of the bed, gently swinging back and forth.
The air was filled with the fragrance of roses, evaporated by the heat of candles, spreading languidly throughout the room.
Zhen Zhen saw Lu Jiayin raise her head. The celebrity’s stunning face looked charming and captivating. She extended one hand, smiling sweetly: “Come and unwrap your gift?”
The robe, loosely gathered at the front, parted with her movement, revealing a tantalizing glimpse of spring light. Zhen Zhen’s breathing hitched, and she walked toward her involuntarily.
Her fingertips gently grasped the robe’s belt. The smooth fabric fell away like water, allowing her to fully see the exquisite packaging of this gift.
The bed was very soft.
Crimson silk sheets and fluffy down pillows formed a gentle fortress. The person within it wore only a seductive white lace chemise, two precarious ribbons crossed and tied, highlighting a beautiful white silk bow at her chest, vaguely concealing a sliver of luminous white skin.
Delicate silk ribbons draped from her rounded shoulders, creating a breathtaking tangle at her waist. Lu Jiayin’s waist was very slender, warm and smooth to the touch when Zhen Zhen’s palm rested on it. Zhen Zhen knew how tempting that was.
Now she appeared before her like this. The moonlight passed slowly through the window, caressing her delicate face. Her bright almond eyes gazed at Zhen Zhen, making her look like a soft and sensitive rose.
“A gift for you,” she heard Lu Jiayin’s voice amidst the pervasive fragrance. “Do you like it?”
Initially, Zhen Zhen was the one who was incoherent, but eventually, the one who was completely limp and exhausted was Lu Jiayin.
She groggily opened her eyes, sensing that Zhen Zhen was holding her and lowering her into the bathtub. The warm water enveloped her, finally rousing a little consciousness. Her voice was incredibly soft: “I haven’t wished you a happy birthday yet…”
She had started planning two weeks ago to surprise Zhen Zhen, thinking about what kind of birthday gift she would like. After much deliberation, she realized that most ideas were unlikely to be a “surprise.”
Zhen Zhen rarely wore jewelry; only her wedding ring and a watch. But she already had a drawer full of watches from prestigious brands. Lu Jiayin knew she couldn’t possibly surpass those.
She even borrowed Ding Ding’s account to post a query online anonymously, hoping to learn about the preferences of Zhen Zhen’s “peers.” Most of the replies suggested: “Don’t bother, just give her yourself.”
Lu Jiayin thought about it and decided that although the suggestion sounded ridiculous, it might not be bad after all.
Especially now, she was experiencing the “not bad” result firsthand.
Hearing her words, Zhen Zhen’s hand, which was applying body wash to her, paused. After a moment, she asked: “You came back to celebrate my birthday?”
Lu Jiayin, yawning sleepily, still nodded: “Of course. You gave me such a wonderful birthday last time. How could I not come back to celebrate yours?”
She had been concealing the fact that she had recovered her memory. She couldn’t say clearly that ever since her last birthday, she suddenly realized she seemed never to have celebrated Zhen Zhen’s birthday.
Not only that, she had no memory of Zhen Zhen’s birthday at all. After subtly prompting Xiao Chen, Lu Jiayin confirmed that this was not due to their strained relationship before, but because Zhen Zhen never celebrated her birthday.
As for why she didn’t celebrate it, Xiao Chen had no clear answer. So, Lu Jiayin simply pretended not to remember the cause and effect and rushed back.
She relaxed her limbs, feeling completely at ease in the bath, but suddenly realized that the person beside her hadn’t spoken for a long time.
Lu Jiayin turned her head, meeting Zhen Zhen’s clear and silent face.
Her dark eyes seemed slightly lost, staring at the water for a long time. Through the surrounding steam, Lu Jiayin felt that Zhen Zhen’s eyelashes were also completely damp, as if filled with moisture.
“Thank you.”
Zhen Zhen’s clear and gentle voice trembled slightly, as if she was desperately suppressing some emotion. She took a deep breath, and despite the fact that they were still in the bathroom, she reached out and hugged Lu Jiayin.
The vanilla-scented water soaked a large portion of her clothes.
In this sudden movement, Lu Jiayin was tightly embraced in a warm hug. She heard Zhen Zhen whisper: “Lu Jiayin, thank you. I suddenly feel very lucky that I still have this you.”
When she woke up again, the sky outside the window was already bright.
To maximize this short one-day holiday, Lu Jiayin had driven directly away from the film studio after wrapping up her scene last night. She had squeezed out an extra night, and her plan for today was to spend the day celebrating Zhen Zhen’s birthday.
She excitedly climbed out of bed, only to see Zhen Zhen sitting on the living room sofa in front of her familiar laptop. A coffee cup rested nearby, indicating she had been working for a long time.
Lu Jiayin walked over barefoot and jumped directly onto her, wrapping her arms around her: “It’s your birthday today! Aren’t you going to rest?”
Zhen Zhen looked up. Lu Jiayin found the gaze behind her glasses a little strange—faint, seemingly hesitant. Zhen Zhen paused before replying: “I forgot to tell you yesterday. I don’t celebrate my birthday.”
I know you don’t celebrate your birthday, but what’s the reason? Lu Jiayin silently thought this, her face showing a puzzled expression for effect.
Zhen Zhen gently stroked her hair, her dark eyelashes lowered, and she finally said: “I’m sorry. I haven’t told you before because I thought this might burden you. Actually, today is also the anniversary of my parents’ death.”
As she spoke, she seemed to have made a huge decision, telling her the reason that had weighed on her heart like a heavy shackle for many years. She waited quietly for Lu Jiayin’s reaction.
She waited for a while and didn’t hear Lu Jiayin speak again. Zhen Zhen sighed internally, thinking that sure enough, even she felt that someone like her shouldn’t receive blessings.
“I’ll celebrate with you,” after a moment of silence, Lu Jiayin leaned down, held her hand, and said very seriously, word by word: “I told you, you can tell me anything, because I’ll be here with you.”
