Chapter 18: Or Nothing at All.
Rong Wei looked closely at the photos Jiang Yu had sent again.
Jiang Yu had only sent pictures of herself wearing different colored nightgowns. The style of the nightgowns wasn’t overly revealing, or perhaps the exposed areas were not yet visible to her; she was only showing her shoulders, neck, and half of her calves.
But their relationship was not pure, the moonlight was bright now, and the lighting in the photos was dim. The warm yellow light enveloped her, seemingly conveying an unspoken ambiguity.
Rong Wei’s gaze was deep. After a long moment, she tapped the voice recording button and said, “You want me to help you choose?”
It was a question, but the tone was steady and composed.
This person is really calm, Jiang Yu thought inwardly when she received Rong Wei’s message.
Many times, Jiang Yu admired Rong Wei’s composure and calmness.
But right now, Jiang Yu didn’t particularly want Rong Wei to maintain that composure.
So she asked again directly, her tone less proper, “Yes, which one do you like?”
Rong Wei seemed to have been waiting for her message. Without a long delay, Jiang Yu received another voice message from Rong Wei.
“What if I said I like them all?”
The voice carried a slight laugh, and the teasing intent was not overly hidden.
Jiang Yu picked up on the teasing, sensing she wasn’t resistant, and her words became even more suggestive: “That’s fine, we can just wear them all, one at a time, or wear nothing at all.”
The summer night breeze was warm, and that voice seemed to blow into one’s ear, feeling inexplicably hot and scorching.
Rong Wei considered Jiang Yu’s words. Her gaze fixed on the distance for a moment before she said, “Miss Jiang is quite direct.”
“Isn’t being direct good? Or does CEO Rong prefer beating around the bush?”
Jiang Yu directly countered.
After a brief silence, Jiang Yu heard a faint laugh in her ear: “No, I just wanted to say that this way, you might find it very tiring.”
Jiang Yu smiled: “It doesn’t matter, I don’t mind.”
Jiang Yu put down her phone and looked at the pile of nightgowns she had changed out of for the photos in the walk-in closet.
Actually, she hadn’t originally intended to send these to Rong Wei.
It was just that when she got home, she happened to see the clothes the brand had mailed to her lying in the room.
She opened the package and saw her favorite nightgowns.
After all the excitement in the car earlier, she wasn’t tired anymore, so she tried on the nightgowns.
Hmm…
The nightgowns might be ordinary, but the result of the conversation with Rong Wei was quite satisfying.
The hour was late, and Jiang Yu felt it was time to end the conversation.
So, she didn’t send Rong Wei any more messages.
…
After that little interlude, Jiang Yu did not contact Rong Wei for the time being, and Rong Wei did not proactively contact Jiang Yu either.
Both were busy with their own work, seemingly having forgotten each other, neither one recalling the other’s presence in their world.
Jiang Yu hadn’t forgotten Rong Wei, but her work had recently become busy again. She had been sleeping for no more than four hours a day for four consecutive days.
Around seven in the evening today, Lu Linqiao urged her not to overdo it and to go home and rest early.
Jiang Yu was indeed quite tired, so she prepared to head home early.
However, compared to a night alone, she preferred another way to relax and unwind, such as contacting Rong Wei and doing something pleasurable together.
Jiang Yu thought so, and she acted on it.
She directly opened WeChat, navigated to the chat box with Rong Wei, and found the previous message she had sent about wearing all the outfits.
【CEO Rong, do you have any work to attend to later?】
There was no reply. Jiang Yu raised an eyebrow, feeling that today might be a bust, so she didn’t dwell on it.
But on her way back home, she received a voice call from Rong Wei.
Neither of them asked why the other hadn’t been in touch recently. In fact, Rong Wei was even notably familiar, greeting her like a long-lost friend.
“Have you had dinner yet?”
“Not yet, just about to. What are your plans, CEO Rong?”
Rong Wei laughed on the other end of the phone: “Want to join me? I had the hotel chef prepare dinner.”
Jiang Yu lightly tapped the desk with her finger: “CEO Rong is certainly quick to act.”
“Are you coming?”
“Yes.” Jiang Yu gave a definite answer.
Shortly after, Rong Wei sent her the hotel address.
It was still the same hotel as a few days ago, and Jiang Yu was quite familiar with the way.
She asked her assistant to bring her belongings over. By the time she arrived at the hotel downstairs, it was over half an hour later.
Rong Wei was still on her way, so Jiang Yu was the only one in the executive suite at the moment.
Jiang Yu wasn’t in a hurry. She simply took off her contact lenses, removed her makeup, did her skincare routine, took a shower, changed into a nightgown, grabbed a book, and sat on the sofa to read while waiting for Rong Wei.
The hotel dinner had already been delivered. Just then, Jiang Yu received a message from Rong Wei, saying she had encountered a sudden matter and might be delayed for a while.
Jiang Yu didn’t have the habit of eating alone, so she continued to sit on the sofa and read, waiting for Rong Wei’s arrival.
About ten minutes later, the sound of a card swiping to unlock the door echoed.
Jiang Yu put down her book and saw Rong Wei’s figure.
Rong Wei was a little different today.
Or, to be precise, this was the first time Jiang Yu had seen Rong Wei wearing a red shirt.
The bright color added a touch of sharpness to her composed aura, especially the snake-shaped necklace made of black diamonds around her neck, which unconsciously added a lot of pressure.
Yet, it was this very sense of pressure that made Jiang Yu’s nerves jump wildly.
The frequency of her heartbeat seemed to match the glittering, dancing light on the necklace.
Jiang Yu no longer had any thoughts of reading. She simply put down the book, walked over, and smiled, “Good evening.”
Rong Wei nodded slightly to her: “Good evening.”
After a brief silence, Jiang Yu looked around: “Dinner is already cold.”
Rong Wei glanced at the dining table. There were no signs of it having been touched, nor any trace of heat.
She simply hummed, saying nothing else, just watching Jiang Yu, wanting to see what she would do.
In the next second, Jiang Yu took a step forward, stopping completely in front of her.
A slender, pale finger flashed before Rong Wei’s eyes. Then, Rong Wei felt a strange tingling sensation spread across her chest.
It was Jiang Yu, gently tapping her chest with her finger, and leaning in closer.
Rong Wei felt a wet warmth near her neck, and Jiang Yu’s somewhat hoarse, intimate voice sounded in her ear: “In that case, let’s have a kiss first.”
