- Chapter 4 - The Beginning of A Sweet Dominion
Yuno led me by the hand into the bedroom.
“You’re tired today, aren’t you?”
Following her prompt, I sank softly onto the bed.
Yuno sat right beside me, resting her cheek on her hand as she gazed intently at me. She began to slowly stroke my head. The warmth of her hand and the rhythm of the motion were soothing.
The gentle orange light filtering in from the living room softly outlined Yuno’s bright, silky hair. She smiled, her drooping eyes narrowing slightly.
She was unnervingly close.
The sound of my heart grew a bit too loud, and my throat went dry.
“Hey, what happened?” Yuno asked in a small voice, so close I could feel her breath.
I began to speak in fragments.
“The fundraising didn’t go well. Due to the other party’s circumstances.”
“Fund-raising?”
“Yeah. …During the term sheet renegotiation phase, the other party’s GP was forced to change the fund vehicle.”
“…Mm-hmm.”
“Because of that, we had to restructure the entire SPV, and we couldn’t meet the QIB requirements. The cross-border regulatory compliance triggered it.”
“Mm? …Right.”
“…Once the long-stop date passed, the other party aborted the deal. They said that from a fiduciary duty standpoint, they couldn’t stop it. We didn’t… do anything wrong.”
“…………Hmm.”
Once I started talking, I couldn’t stop.
Yuno looked as if she were listening to an alien language, yet she continued to nod with a serious expression, knitting her brows and narrowing her eyes. Whenever work comes up, I tend to talk without regard for how I appear. It’s a bad habit of mine.
“I don’t really get all that… but can’t you just start over?”
After a brief pause, Yuno’s gentle, whispering voice drifted down to me.
She was completely detached from the situation.
And yet, strangely, that was exactly what touched my heart right now.
My eyelids gradually grew heavy. I could feel my racing heart slowly calming down. My consciousness began to unravel.
Deep breaths came naturally, one after another.
Ah, I meant to do a final check on the business materials once I got home… and I haven’t fully hammered out the agenda for tomorrow’s meeting…
But my consciousness was melting away, and I couldn’t organize my thoughts.
I don’t know how long I had been closing my eyes.
Something warm and soft touched my lips.
Eh…
I opened my eyes slightly. After a moment, I realized it was Yuno’s lips.
Just as she drifted away, she overlapped with me again, softly. A distance so slight it was barely a touch.
Thump.
Thump.
My heart was pounding so hard it almost hurt.
“Wait, hold on…”
Even as I tried to resist, only a small voice escaped.
When I tried to turn my face away, Yuno’s hand gently cupped my cheek, refusing to let me escape. For some reason, the softness and warmth of her palm made the strength leave my body.
This time, Yuno pressed her lips against mine for longer. The sound of my heart echoed through my entire body; I could no longer form words.
As we stayed like that, something slowly entered through the gap in my lips. It was lukewarm and smooth—.
The sensation of it sliding deep inside felt as if it were searching for something within me. Then, as if declaring it had found its mark, it softly entwined with my tongue.
“Nnh…!”
A sound leaked out of me from the lack of air. It was a high, sweet voice that surprised even me. How embarrassing.
When our lips parted, Yuno’s breath hit me from point-blank range.
“Hehe… cute.”
The words, delivered so close that the vibration of her voice reached my lips, sent a shiver running down my spine.
Then, our lips overlapped deeply again. This time she changed the angle, pushing even deeper.
…It felt good.
The moment I thought that, I realized I was entwining my own tongue with hers. Our breaths mingled, and the wet sounds of the kiss began to echo louder and louder in the room.
When I turned my face slightly away, feeling breathless, Yuno immediately followed. There was nowhere to run. Her soft lips sealed me off again.
Just as I thought our lips had finally parted—I felt the sensation of a warm tongue softly on my neck.
She traced a slow path from beneath my jaw down toward my collarbone.
“Nnh… ah…”
Another sweet sound escaped.
Once more, from behind my ear down to my neck—
Bzzzz Bzzzz Bzzzz.
The smartphone on the bedside table vibrated.
Reflexively reaching out to check the screen, I saw Matsuyama’s name glowing.
“…Work call. I have to take this,” I murmured in a raspy voice.
I sat up and answered the phone.
“…Right. I’ll check it first thing tomorrow morning. Bye.”
It was an urgent consultation regarding tomorrow’s meeting.
I ended the conversation quickly and placed the phone back on the bedside table.
When I looked at Yuno, she had narrowed her eyes and curled the corners of her mouth into a quiet smile.
Then, as her arm reached out, her slender, cold fingertips softly touched my cheek.
“…!”
Was she going to kiss me again?
A shiver raced through my entire body, followed by the thump-thump of my heart accelerating.
Was this anxiety? Fear?
—Or was it anticipation?
“Bye-bye. Goodnight, Big Sister.”
Yuno gave a beaming smile and left those words behind. But deep in her eyes, she wasn’t smiling.
She stood up slowly and slipped out of the room as if nothing had happened.
Truly, as if nothing had happened.
My heart was pulsing so hard it actually hurt.
On my lips, on my tongue, on my neck—the warm, soft sensation from before remained, lingering faintly yet vividly.
What was that all about?
With a feeling like something was stuck in my throat, I lay back down on the bed.
I had a mountain of things to do, but I decided I’d just go to sleep for today.
Or so I thought.
The memory of that moment kept racing through my head in circles, and in the end, I couldn’t sleep at all.
