- Chapter 16 - Dian Equals Xu Shize
Seeing Mo Er make that face, Yi Xuan, who had been observing him, finally smiled. He covered his face with his hand, hiding a secret laugh.
“Do not think that just because you cover your face, I cannot hear you laughing!” Mo Er puffed out his cheeks, looking quite indignant.
“No, I am not laughing.” Yi Xuan lowered his hand but kept it over his mouth, his eyes crinkling as he struggled to contain his amusement.
“You!”
“Lord.”
Two voices sounded at the same time. Yi Xuan had been laughing while teasing Mo Er, but when he heard that voice behind him, the smile on his lips stiffened.
Oh no.
He glanced back and, sure enough, saw the culprit who had caused him to lose sleep for two nights in a row.
Yi Xuan had known that meeting him today was inevitable, but he had not expected it to be this soon. He had barely been here for ten minutes! How did Mislert manage to pinpoint his location in a small, out-of-the-way corner so quickly amidst such a crowd of Zergs?
“Lord…” Mislert stood less than a meter behind Yi Xuan.
He did not step forward to act overly intimate, nor did he stand too far away to appear excessively distant.
He gauged the distance perfectly, fearful that any misstep would cause his Lord to despise him even more.
“Hmm.”
Yi Xuan did not know what expression to use to face Mislert, so he simply maintained his cold and indifferent mask.
However, Mislert seemed completely unaffected by Yi Xuan’s coldness. He stood quietly behind him, just as he was.
How should he put it? The way Yi Xuan and Mislert were interacting now looked very much like Mo Er and Yarman beside them.
Mo Er noticed the stiff atmosphere between the two and performed the same action Yi Xuan had done moments before, looking thoughtfully at Yi Xuan on the left and then at Mislert, who was silently watching Yi Xuan’s back, on the right.
“You two?” Mo Er asked.
“Stop. You are not allowed to gossip either.”
“Oh.” Mo Er closed his mouth again.
Even though he had been told to stop darting his eyes back and forth, Mo Er still looked full of curiosity.
“Lord, I will go get you some dessert.”
After Mislert arrived, the atmosphere among the four Zergs became very strange. Originally, the two males had been chatting and laughing, but now they were both looking down, scrolling through their terminals.
“Hmm.”
As soon as Mislert spoke, Yi Xuan’s body reflexively sat up straight. It took him a while before he managed to grunt an acknowledgement.
Mislert pursed his lips and turned away, looking reluctant to leave. It was only after he had walked a long distance away that Yi Xuan’s body finally began to relax.
“Are you two playing some strange romantic game?”
Mo Er poked his head out, finally unable to hold back the question.
Yi Xuan pushed Mo Er’s gossiping face away with a look of disdain. He thought for a moment and then could not help but tilt his head and ask, “I ask because I do not know. Is the way you and Yarman act also some kind of romantic game between you?”
Mo Er: …
“Your tongue is so sharp. Can I not just be curious?” Mo Er rubbed the tip of his nose.
“It is not as if we have only known each other for a day.”
Yi Xuan reached out and mercilessly ruffled Mo Er’s small curls, pulling his hand back before Mo Er could react.
Mo Er was a restless soul. Seeing that Mislert had not returned and Yi Xuan was back to playing with his terminal, he started probing again.
“Do you have feelings for him?”
He kept his voice low, as if afraid of being overheard by other Zergs.
“Are you bored or something?”
Yi Xuan was annoyed by his pestering and pushed Mo Er’s head away yet again.
“You must have feelings for him. Otherwise, given your personality, you would have driven that Mi-whatever away long ago. Would you really just tolerate him hovering around you?” Seeing that Yi Xuan was ignoring him, Mo Er mused and came to his own conclusion.
“No, I just do not dislike him to that extent. I am still different from those male Zergs who refuse to interact with female Zergs.” Yi Xuan tried helplessly to stop his overactive imagination, adding, “Stop obsessing over this. I remember you should be quite busy lately, so can you please not waste your energy on these things?”
“Oh, you stingy person.”
The banquet organized by the Trivikun Organization was truly grand. Even His Highness Dian, the third son of the Zerg Emperor, had arrived.
His Highness Dian is currently the only male offspring of the current Emperor. He is still in his sub-adult stage. Unfortunately, when His Highness Dian was still in his egg stage, he was stolen by malicious Zergs. Although he was later recovered, he suffered irreversible damage due to nutritional deficiencies during the egg stage. His brain development was incomplete, and his mental power was highly unstable. In short, he was simple-minded.
It was said that he had an unfortunate accident and fell into the water not long ago, but luckily, after being saved, the Zerg who had been simple-minded for over twenty years suddenly became sharp.
Dian’s appearance had always been striking among the male Zergs. Now that he had regained his senses, he remained pure. Not only did he have a good personality, but he was also the presumptive heir to the throne, which immediately drove many noble female Zergs wild for him.
Of course, that was not the most important thing. The most important thing was that Yi Xuan knew him.
Yes, the original Yi Xuan knew Dian when he was still simple-minded. Wait, they still knew each other now. You ask when they met?
That brings up Dian’s other name: Xu Shize.
When Yi Xuan was writing this part of the plot regarding Xu Shize, for the sake of convenience, he had chosen to have the original body get to know Dian back when he was still simple-minded. As for how the two became acquainted, he did not elaborate; it was basically a story of a hero saving the beauty.
The simple-minded Dian was tricked by other noble male Zergs into going out to play, and he was then happened upon by the original body, who helped him out of the situation. That was how the two met.
The original body’s personality was very similar to Yi Xuan’s; he was very enthusiastic toward others. He had actually enjoyed playing with the little simpleton, so it seemed normal that Xu Shize and Yi Xuan would naturally be well-acquainted with each other later.
“Yi Xuan, I heard Dian will come later. His falling into the water was around the same time as your ship accident. I went to see him last time and discovered he is no longer simple-minded. You will know once you see him later.”
The banquet was now halfway through, and most of the Zergs who were expected to attend had arrived.
The broadcast spheres had already stopped working and flew slowly back into the hands of the working Zergs.
Mo Er and Yi Xuan had been sitting in that corner for over half an hour, eating scattered snacks.
Although they were sitting in a very secluded spot, because both of them were so good-looking, they stood out in the crowd of male Zergs. As a result, sharp-eyed female Zergs kept noticing them and boldly approaching to introduce themselves, though they were all rejected.
“Hmm, I heard.” Yi Xuan rested his head on one hand.
“You have no idea. He is very smart now; it feels like his brain works very fast,” Mo Er said.
Yi Xuan looked at him, pondered for a moment, and said, “Is he smarter than you? That would mean he barely reaches the average intelligence of the Zerg race.”
Mo Er: …?
“Are you being polite right now?”
