- Chapter 4 - He Has an Immature Reproductive Chamber
Cooperation Agreement
Party Ciel will provide various forms of assistance, while Party Ning Qing should diligently play the role of boyfriend.
Note: Intimate contact is required under specific circumstances, including but not limited to holding hands, hugging, and kissing.
Duration of Cooperation. One month, starting from May 12, Star Calendar 1026, until the end of the Interstellar League Finals on June 12.
He’s actually serious about this.
Only then did Ning Qing realize that Ciel wasn’t joking.
He stood up abruptly, leaning one hand on the desk as half of his body gracefully reached over to the other side.
With the attitude of a scientific experimenter, he first covered Ciel’s hand with his own to test the sensation. Then, he opened his arms to give Ciel a light, superficial hug. Finally, he brought his mouth close, stopping roughly one millimeter away from Ciel’s lips.
Throughout this entire process, Ciel acted as a dutiful, responsible scarecrow, except his expression turned deeply distorted. Ning Qing deduced that he was holding back laughter.
It’s fine, tolerable.
He had no plans for romance or marriage in the near future. To him, this demand wasn’t unreasonable, though there was an indefinable sense of strangeness to it.
It felt like those small scam advertisements posted on utility poles in the slums, rich widowed Omegas seeking genetic material to conceive, or lonely domineering CEOs searching for a wife.
He flipped through the handwritten contract from Ciel several times. After confirming everything was correct, he asked, “Does your family actually allow you to find a Beta as a boyfriend?”
“Yeah.” Ciel brought over two cups of black tea from the domestic robot and explained sincerely, “They feel that anyone other than an Alpha is fine.”
There was an open secret in the Lanchester family, their family members had a low survival rate. By Ciel’s generation, he was the only one who had survived to adulthood, facing the severe challenge of physical extinction.
Ciel added, “Sigh! Even before I reached adulthood, I was being pushed into blind dates.”
However, Ciel had zero common language with those high-born, delicate young masters and ladies. He did everything he could to avoid meeting them, to the point where he was almost suspected of being an Alpha homosexual.
Finally, seeing through his endless excuses, his strict Omega mother threatened to throw this rebellious son into the Alpha-Omega matching pool.
Rather than matching with a stranger and staring blankly at each other, it was better to put on a show with a classmate or so he explained it.
Ning Qing pricked up his ears, listening as intently as if he were in a tactical command class, unconsciously drinking his black tea all the way to the bottom.
Back in his rural hometown, everyone practiced free love, no one had ever heard of fancy concepts like an Alpha-Omega matching pool. The marital relations of wealthy families were truly complex, he really couldn’t understand it.
So thought a problem solver from a fringe planet who was a lifelong single.
However, he caught another blind spot. “If you choose a Beta as a partner, wouldn’t it still be difficult to reproduce?”
Seeing Ning Qing holding an empty cup and drinking air, Ciel thoughtfully poured him another cup, using the opportunity to touch his small hand. “It’s not a big deal. Word has it that the Royal Medical Center came up with a set of fertility adaptation modifications for Betas.”
The teacup shook violently.
Splashed by the hot tea, Ciel withdrew his hand dejectedly. He blinked and quickly changed the subject.
“Wow, this tea is way too hot! But don’t be angry, Senior, I personally don’t support this kind of… practice that doesn’t treat other genders as human.”
Ning Qing recalled some unpleasant memories.
The Alpha-Omega differentiation rate in the fringe star zone was far lower than that in the developed central star zone. Because of this, the Empire had once laced the relief food packages sent to the fringe star zone with drugs that stimulated gender differentiation, a fact that wasn’t exposed until ten years ago.
That kind of drug had various side effects, causing hormonal imbalances, gender inversion, and mental instability in developing adolescents.
Ning Qing had seen several cases himself. One was his neighbor, two years younger than him, who possessed characteristics of both an Alpha and an Omega. He had committed suicide by jumping off a building a month before the truth was revealed.
He had questioned whether this was the trigger for his own sudden secondary differentiation three years after reaching adulthood.
But no one would ever be held accountable for it.
Mainstream public opinion believed that Alphas and Omegas were the pinnacle of human evolution, while Betas were merely incompletely evolved. Giving losers a chance to leap into becoming successful beings, wasn’t that considered a form of mercy?
Furthermore, the high ranks of the Empire were entirely composed of Alphas. Who would care about the life or death of other “inferior” genders? Perhaps only when he climbed to that height would things begin to change.
Of course, such whimsical thoughts couldn’t be disclosed to an outsider like Ciel. Ning Qing wiped away the water stains for Ciel and blew softly on the reddened spot.
After his hometown fell, those who successfully escaped were all underage children, and Ning Qing naturally became the leader. Thus, when it came to taking care of people, he was actually very experienced.
He explained his abnormal reaction. “I wasn’t targeting you. I was just thinking that artificially altering one’s gender for the sake of reproduction is unfair to everyone.”
“Senior is right! So, to save a poor Alpha from the miserable fate of being used for breeding, will Senior promise to help me out with this?”
Ciel went with the flow, taking the opportunity to coax Ning Qing into a daze.
While Ning Qing was still contemplating what key phrase had triggered their jump to this topic, Ciel had already lunged forward, giving him a grand embrace, cheek against cheek, noses brushing.
This person’s embrace was warm and cozy, seemingly different from those arrogant Alphas on the capital planet. Perhaps he was worth trusting.
Well then.
“Pleasure working with you.”
For the convenience of training, Ciel invited him to stay in a rather cozy small building inside the base. Their bedrooms were adjacent to each other, separated only by a hallway.
The interior decor was simple and clean. In the bathroom stood a bottle of the cheapest sage-scented body wash, the exact kind Ning Qing was used to using.
Ciel mentioned he had noted it down while tidying up the dorm. Ning Qing was a little surprised by his attentiveness.
Perhaps because he had experienced too much during the day, Ning Qing was utterly exhausted. The moment his head hit the pillow, he fell fast asleep.
Ning Qing slept extraordinarily deeply.
Therefore, he didn’t notice that two additional people had appeared out of thin air in the room, two male Alphas whose appearances seemed carved from the exact same mold.
The one on the left giggled and nudged the one on his right with an elbow.
“Got him coaxed, didn’t I? Told you it wouldn’t be that hard. I really have to thank the good persona you established outside, Brother.”
He was easier to fool than expected, even drinking down the spiked tea obediently. However, his method of drugging was far more sophisticated than those competitors whose brains weren’t fully developed.
Ning Qing actually slept curled up in a ball.
His shoulder length hair was scattered, clustering around his cheeks. His breathing was steady and quiet, like a cat curled in its nest. But he wasn’t a noble breed cat pampered in a wealthy lady’s arms, he was a stray cat abandoned on the capital planet that would soon be cleared out by security.
The difference was that Ning Qing was genuinely, unreasonably strong. How could such a person be born in a barren wasteland like the fringe star zone? It truly made him curious.
Could it be due to gene mutations caused by alien organisms and deep space radiation?
Oh, but it seemed there were still a few other little secrets on Ning Qing’s body.
Lyle wanted to touch his face, but his brother foresaw it and grabbed his wrist.
“Don’t fall too deep. Don’t forget our plan.”
Truly annoying. Even without the family ban, he wouldn’t want to stay in the same room with his brother for more than ten minutes. Unable to win the argument, Lyle had no choice but to fling his hand away and leave.
Before leaving, Lyle repeatedly urged. “It’s time for the shift change anyway. I’m heading off first, remember to record it.”
Tonight’s moonlight was clear and bright. Ciel didn’t turn on the lights, opting instead to pull open the curtains.
He was admiring the prey he had personally chosen.
Exhausted, Ning Qing sank into the soft mattress. His pale face flushed with a soft pink hue, only to have the soft flesh pinched by a distinct, bony hand.
His eyelids fluttered very lightly, but he didn’t open his eyes.
Very obedient.
This drew a low, satisfied laugh from the intruder.
Next came those dripping red lips, resting slightly open with a tiny gap. Yet because they were so small, they kept the finger out, leaving behind a glistening trace of moisture.
It didn’t matter, this was merely the most elementary inspection.
He would get used to it.
Unbuttoning the hand washed, faded cotton shirt, sliding all the way down along the smooth muscle lines, the fingertip came to a halt on the flat, tight lower abdomen. This was an uncultivated land, visited by no one.
Perhaps because it tickled too much, those well-trained yet not overly exaggerated muscles contracted and tightened in response, making their shape look even more beautiful.
Truly an unexpected level of sensitivity.
His foolish brother still thought he hadn’t missed out on much, completely unaware that experiencing it firsthand was a world apart from staring at footage.
Ning Qing’s breathing grew more rushed, and fragmented words seeped from between his lips and teeth, carrying a slurry accent.
“No… don’t.”
Is he resisting the effects of the drug? How hard working.
Ciel didn’t stop. Instead, he used the heel of his palm to press down neither too lightly nor too heavily against Ning Qing’s lower abdomen until Ning Qing let out a muffled groan.
There, nestled inside, was a narrow, immature reproductive chamber.
