The Delicate Beauty Grabbed the Cannon Fodder Villain’s Script [Quick Transmigration] - Chapter 44
“Why haven’t you come over to sit down yet?”
Jian Tao snapped back to reality. He looked at the Manager, swallowed hard, and slowly pulled out a chair to sit across from him. The Manager pushed a hard-boiled egg toward him. Looking at the egg, Jian Tao could not help but wonder if his punishment was to be choked to death by it.
Seeing his hesitation, the Manager asked curiously, “What is wrong?”
Jian Tao shook his head vigorously like a rattle. He took the egg and began peeling it. Once the shell was removed, a smooth, white egg was revealed in his hand. He looked at the Manager timidly and took a small, tentative bite. It tasted like a normal egg without any strange flavors, so he finished it bite by bite.
The Manager watched the person in front of him eat slowly, his cheeks bulging occasionally like a little hamster. The Manager instinctively reached out to pat Jian Tao’s head, but Jian Tao flinched, startled by the gesture. A trace of a smile appeared on the Manager’s usually stern face; the boy really was like a little hamster—cute and cowardly.
Jian Tao gave him a timid glance before finally allowing the large hand to rest on his head. The Manager ruffled his hair gently. He was soft and kind, a stark contrast to his usual demeanor during staff meetings.
“Have you been crying? Why are your eyes so swollen?” the Manager asked gently. Then, his expression shifted slightly. “Or did someone bully you?”
Flattered and surprised by the concern, Jian Tao quickly replied, “No, I just had a nightmare last night.”
The Manager let out a soft laugh. “You cried just because of a nightmare?”
He thought to himself that if someone actually bullied the boy, he would surely cry even more. If someone did something truly excessive to him, his eyes would be red from weeping, and he would have no power to resist—only able to endure it piteously.
Jian Tao nodded as he finished the last of the egg. The Manager suppressed the urge to pull him into an embrace and asked, “Are you still hungry?”
Jian Tao shook his head quickly, fearing the Manager would give him more food that he would have to eat while trembling with fear.
The Manager leaned on his arm, watching him. “Are you very afraid of me?”
Jian Tao’s face turned bright red immediately. Of course he was afraid; he had been punished on his second day, all thanks to this man. Seeing Jian Tao’s reaction, a look of disappointment crossed the Manager’s handsome face. He sighed and said, “Come here. Come to my side. It is time for your punishment to begin.”
Jian Tao’s heart leapt into his throat. The moment of reckoning had arrived. His face turned pale with fright, and he nervously wiped the sweat from his hands onto his clothes. The Manager looked at him again, his dark eyes scanning Jian Tao. Though his gaze was calm, it carried an immense pressure. “I said, come here.”
Jian Tao’s eyes welled up with tears. He stood up slowly, gripping the hem of his shirt tightly as he walked toward the Manager step by step, his heart filled with dread. The Manager watched him with perfect composure. “Lean down.”
Jian Tao was on the verge of tears. He obeyed and leaned down, bringing his face close to the Manager’s. The Manager looked at the face so close to his own with satisfaction. He reached out and used his thumb to wipe away the dark eyeliner from the corner of Jian Tao’s eye, letting out a soft “tsk.” He seemed frustrated and puzzled by what young people were thinking these days.
Just as Jian Tao’s back was beginning to ache, the Manager finally acted. He pressed his hand against the side of Jian Tao’s neck and pushed down, forcing the boy’s face closer until he could capture Jian Tao’s full lips. He sucked and teased the lips until they were red and swollen.
Jian Tao was stunned. The shock made his reactions sluggish, and his tears began to fall like broken strings of pearls. Is this the punishment? he wondered.
The Manager pinched his chin, his thin lips finally leaving Jian Tao’s mouth. His breath was hot and heavy, mingling with Jian Tao’s in an intimate, hazy atmosphere. “Open your mouth.”
Jian Tao was now certain that this was indeed the punishment. His body trembled uncontrollably, but he had no choice but to part his lips. The Manager immediately leaned back in for another kiss, his tongue swirling and sucking until Jian Tao’s tongue felt numb and shaky.
Jian Tao’s body could no longer support the bent-over posture, so the Manager simply pulled him into his lap and wrapped his arms around him. The Manager could not get enough of those soft lips and that slick tongue. When they finally parted, a thin trail of saliva connected them. The Manager looked at the person in his arms, whose face was flushed from the “bullying.”
“Stick your tongue out and let me see,” the Manager commanded.
Jian Tao’s face was red enough to bleed, but he obediently stuck out his tongue. The Manager admired his handiwork before teasing the reddened tongue once more. After another long, lingering kiss, the Manager finally pulled away, his voice husky. “Will you be late again next time?”
Jian Tao shook his head blankly, his voice incredibly soft. “I will not…”
The Manager ruffled Jian Tao’s hair again and asked, “Shall we head out?”
Jian Tao desperately wanted to leave. This punishment was too humiliating; he never wanted to endure it again.
The Manager left first. Before following, Jian Tao used the mirror in the conference room to touch up his makeup. His lips were in such a state that he had to cover them with a layer of foundation. By the time he stepped out, the morning meeting had ended. Only Zhou Jin and Zhao Jingyu remained in front of the isolation room, waiting for Gu Huaian.
They were surprised to see Jian Tao and stepped forward to inspect him. “You actually look fine?”
Jian Tao’s face burned as he nodded.
“The Manager did nothing to you? He didn’t punish you?” Zhao Jingyu asked in disbelief.
Jian Tao shook his head again. “I might have suffered internal injuries.”
He was far too embarrassed to explain what the punishment actually was. Even though he looked fine on the outside, he felt the punishment had been incredibly severe. Zhao Jingyu and Zhou Jin looked confused, but they felt a sense of relief, assuming that Gu Huaian’s punishment would not be too bad either.
However, when the door to the isolation room finally opened, the powerful Gu Huaian collapsed onto the floor. Everyone rushed forward. Gu Huaian managed to sit up and wiped blood from the corner of his mouth. He looked at Jian Tao and asked, “How are you?”
Filled with guilt, Jian Tao shook his head with reddened eyes. “How are you?”
Gu Huaian coughed. Though he looked weak, he shook his head. “I am fine. I just need a moment to recover.”
“You are in this state and you still have the mind to ask about him?” Zhou Jin asked, stunned. “When did you two become so close?”
Gu Huaian remained silent, eventually turning back to Jian Tao. “Walk me back to the dormitory.”
Zhou Jin and Zhao Jingyu exchanged glances, both seeing the bewilderment in the other’s eyes. When did the cold and distant “high-altitude flower” become so friendly with a useless “smart-ass” like Jian Tao? Jian Tao agreed immediately; Gu Huaian was his idol, and he was more than happy to help.
As the group headed toward the elevators, Zhou Jin and Zhao Jingyu prepared to return to their posts while Jian Tao and Gu Huaian headed to the fourth floor. As they passed the lobby, Gu Huaian’s sharp hearing picked up something. He looked up, his expression cold. “There is something happening above us.”
Everyone looked up. Suddenly, a swarm of photographs fluttered down from the vents, drifting through the air and landing on their upturned faces.
Zhou Jin reached out and snatched a photo. He took a sharp breath. “Li Liqun…”
Jian Tao caught a glimpse and his face turned deathly pale. The state of Li Liqun’s body in the photo was horrific—identical to the victims Jian Tao had seen in the “torture room.” He had clearly been subjected to inhuman abuse before death.
Jian Tao’s legs went weak, and he instinctively stumbled back. Zhao Jingyu pushed him aside in annoyance, but before he could fall, Gu Huaian caught him and patted his shoulder to comfort him.
Jian Tao was distracted all morning, his mind filled with images of Li Liqun’s gruesome death. He had been punished with isolation yesterday and was weak from blood loss, and the hotel had clearly been dangerous last night.
He worried that someone had taken advantage of his condition. Could Li Liqun’s death be related to him? Although he hadn’t done anything while he was a “rubber person,” he couldn’t be sure if that aggressive and erotic entity acted on its own. And then there was the person from last night who was covered in blood—could it have been him? That person seemed to recognize him, yet denied it once the mask was removed.
Jian Tao’s head was a mess. These complexities were far beyond his usual thinking. His work throughout the morning was a disaster until a colleague called him for lunch. It was his first time at the cafeteria. It was crowded, and the food looked decent, with both meat and vegetable options.
Still shaken by the morning’s events, Jian Tao only wanted vegetables. As he turned around with his tray, Zhou Jin tapped his shoulder. Zhou Jin gave him an arrogant look and gestured toward a table. Jian Tao saw Zhao Jingyu and Gu Huaian already sitting there, so he joined them.
Gu Huaian truly was the strongest man in this infinite world. Despite how bad he looked this morning, he now appeared perfectly fine aside from a slight paleness. He was even eating normally. Jian Tao set his tray down and asked with concern, “Are you… okay now?”
Gu Huaian shook his head at him. “I am fine now.”
Jian Tao’s eyes sparkled. “You are amazing.”
Opposite them, Zhao Jingyu let out a “tsk.” “That goes without saying. If you had taken that punishment, you would have stopped breathing long ago.”
Jian Tao pouted. He knew both Zhao Jingyu and Zhou Jin looked down on him, so he remained silent. Gu Huaian remained gentle and said softly, “Let’s eat.”
Zhou Jin sat down with his food and took a large bite. “What did you all find last night?”
“I checked the first and second floors,” Zhao Jingyu said. “They are just ordinary residents. Nothing unusual.”
Zhou Jin turned his gaze toward Jian Tao. Since he had been with Gu Huaian the night before, there was no need to ask him. “What about you, Jian Tao?”
Jian Tao’s face heated up. He didn’t dare look up and focused on his food. He couldn’t let his secret slip—he couldn’t mention turning into a rubber person, meeting them last night, or the fact that the person they were chasing had kissed him.
“I was sleeping last night,” Jian Tao muttered, his ears burning.
The atmosphere at the table turned cold instantly. Zhou Jin sneered, “How impressive. You have the heart to sleep at a time like this? Are you here to waste time or to play? Do you expect us to do all the work while you just reap the rewards? I doubt you will even survive that long.”
Jian Tao pouted. He could accept criticism from others, but Zhou Jin made him feel indignant. Zhou Jin acted so disgusted now, but who was the one holding him in bed last night, touching him, kissing him, and telling him he liked him?
“What? Are you talking back?” Zhou Jin snapped.
Jian Tao immediately lowered his head, his eyes red. He decided that the next time he became a rubber person, he would definitely hit him!
Zhao Jingyu added, “I really wonder how someone as useless as you has survived three days without a scratch.”
“Indeed,” Zhou Jin agreed coldly. “Even after the morning punishment, you don’t have a single injury.”
Jian Tao bit his lip. He found it strange too. “Maybe I am just lucky.”
Just then, the Manager walked over with a tray. He had dropped his professional sternness and appeared quite approachable. “Is this seat taken?”
Jian Tao immediately lowered his head, his face flushing as the Manager sat down right next to him. Everyone was shocked by the Manager’s presence, but they were even more stunned when he took a fried egg from his own tray and placed it on Jian Tao’s plate.
“Why are you only eating vegetables? Eat something nutritious; you are still growing,” the Manager said.
Jian Tao wanted to bury his face in his tray. His ears were beet red. He gave a soft “mhm” and didn’t dare refuse. Zhou Jin and Zhao Jingyu exchanged shocked looks. Why was the Manager being so special toward Jian Tao?
They scrutinized Jian Tao again—from his hair to his shoes, he looked like a tacky, foolish smart-ass. So, why him?
Gu Huaian also watched the Manager and Jian Tao, his gaze moving between them. He frowned slightly, as if he were beginning to suspect something.
