- Chapter 18 - Abs: I Want To Touch Them
What did Senior just… say?
“Your physique… is really good?”
Su Yang’s face went “boom,” flushing completely red. The heat spread from her cheeks all the way to the tips of her ears, then down to her neck, making her feel as if her entire body was about to emit smoke.
Growing up, it wasn’t that she had never been praised.
Her teammates praised her ball skills, her coach praised her hard training, and even girls had blushed while calling her handsome.
But no one had ever used a tone like Wen Yusheng’s, or a look like hers, to praise her “physique.”
That voice was pitched very low, carrying a trace of inexplicable hoarseness, scratching against her eardrums like a feather. That gaze was even more direct, carrying a deep and burning light that Su Yang couldn’t quite decipher, falling unashamedly upon her body—as if admiring it, yet also as if… evaluating it.
Su Yang felt as if she had been stripped of her clothes and thrown under a spotlight, her entire being exposed to Wen Yusheng’s gaze with nowhere to hide.
Subconsciously, she wanted to retreat, to put some distance between them so her heart, which was about to jump out of her throat, could catch its breath.
But Wen Yusheng seemed to have anticipated her reaction.
A second before she could step back, Wen Yusheng’s hand, still holding the handkerchief, pressed lightly against her shoulder.
The pressure wasn’t heavy, yet it carried a sense of undeniable command.
“Don’t move.”
Wen Yusheng’s voice remained soft, but her tone held a hint of an order.
“The sweat isn’t wiped clean yet.”
As she spoke, she continued to use the handkerchief to meticulously wipe Su Yang’s forehead, cheeks, and neck.
Her movements were slow and detailed, as if she were polishing a precious work of art.
Su Yang froze in place, not daring to move an inch.
She could feel Wen Yusheng’s fingertips occasionally brushing against her burning skin, sending waves of tremors through her that made her scalp tingle.
She could smell the cool, woody fragrance on Wen Yusheng, which at this moment mixed with the scent of her own sweat, creating a strange, aggressive aroma.
She could even hear her own pulse thundering like a drum in her ears, vibrating so hard it made her eardrums ache.
The noisy cheering and chatter of the crowd around them became a blurred background noise in this instant.
In Su Yang’s world, only the person in front of her remained, along with the strange palpitation this person brought her—one that made her both terrified and captivated.
Wen Yusheng was very satisfied with Su Yang’s reaction.
This little puppy was indeed as pure and adorable as she had imagined.
Just a simple compliment and a slightly intimate gesture were enough to make her heart race and leave her at a loss.
This caused the displeasure Wen Yusheng had felt from seeing Su Yang surrounded by the crowd to dissipate significantly.
She liked seeing Su Yang lose control because of her.
It gave her a strong sense of satisfaction, the feeling of being in total control.
Wen Yusheng’s gaze, once again out of her own control, fell upon Su Yang’s waist and abdomen.
That glimpse of a scene from moments ago lingered in her mind like a curse.
Those tight lines, the luster coated in a thin layer of sweat, that body brimming with youthful vitality…
Wen Yusheng felt her throat go dry again.
In her twenty-two years of life, this was the first time she had felt such a powerful desire to touch someone’s body.
She wanted to feel it.
To experience it with her own hands.
This thought grew wildly in her heart like weeds.
She knew this desire was contrary to her original purpose for approaching and utilizing Su Yang.
She had approached Su Yang to find a useful shield, an interesting pet, a diversion to help her relax when she was tired.
She should remain calm and rational, keeping everything within her grasp.
But now, she harbored an inappropriate desire for this “pet.”
This was dangerous.
It might cause her to lose control over the situation.
But Wen Yusheng didn’t want to restrain herself at all.
So what?
She looked at Su Yang’s face, which appeared exceptionally vivid due to her shyness, and thought coldly to herself:
Does utilizing her and wanting her conflict with each other?
Not at all.
She could utilize Su Yang while simultaneously enjoying this unprecedented, fresh, and stimulating sensation Su Yang brought her.
She could treat Su Yang as a shield while also making her a personal prey to be toyed with and tasted at will.
There was no contradiction.
The corners of Wen Yusheng’s mouth curled into an extremely faint smile, one tinged with a bit of playfulness.
Suddenly, she felt that this game had become much more interesting.
She withdrew her hand, elegantly folded the now-damp handkerchief, and placed it back into her bag.
Then, she picked up the bottle of sports drink, twisted off the cap, and held it out to Su Yang again.
“Have some water to replenish your fluids.”
Her tone had returned to its usual gentleness, as if the person who had just been flirting with Su Yang through words and glances wasn’t her at all.
Su Yang took the bottle blankly and took a mechanical sip.
The icy liquid slid down her throat, making her feel slightly more clear-headed.
She looked at Wen Yusheng and opened her mouth, wanting to say something, but not knowing what.
Thank you, Senior, for coming to see my game? Thank you, Senior, for wiping my sweat? Or… thank you, Senior, for saying my physique is good?
No matter which phrase she chose, it all felt strange.
Watching her hesitant, red-faced expression, Wen Yusheng found it amusing.
She reached out and naturally helped Su Yang straighten her collar, which had become messy after being tossed into the air by her teammates.
Her fingertips seemingly brushed against Su Yang’s collarbone.
Su Yang’s body stiffened once more.
“Let’s go,” Wen Yusheng said, withdrawing her hand and speaking in a light tone. “I’ll treat you to dinner to celebrate your victory.”
“Ah? No… no need, Senior,” Su Yang waved her hands hurriedly. “How can I let you treat me? I should be the one treating you.”
“Why be so formal with me?” Wen Yusheng smiled and, without allowing further argument, took Su Yang by the wrist. “Let’s go. I know a nice restaurant not far from the school.”
Her hand was still very cool.
But Su Yang felt as if the small patch of skin being held was being branded by a hot iron, scorching her.
Just like that, she was led by Wen Yusheng out of the gymnasium amidst countless gazes of envy, jealousy, and curiosity.
It wasn’t until she sat inside Wen Yusheng’s black Porsche that Su Yang felt her racing heart calm down slightly.
She stole a glance at Wen Yusheng in the driver’s seat.
Wen Yusheng was focusing on driving, the lines of her profile appearing exceptionally soft and beautiful under the glow of the streetlights outside.
She looked no different than usual.
Gentle, elegant, and composed.
It was as if the person in the gymnasium who had flirted with her until she was red-faced was merely an illusion.
A sense of inexplicable loss welled up in Su Yang’s heart.
Could it be… she really was overthinking it?
Maybe Senior just gave a casual compliment and didn’t mean anything else by it?
Was it her own “unpure” thoughts that led to these chaotic associations?
The more Su Yang thought about it, the more likely it seemed.
She was straight—she had always told herself that.
Her feelings for Senior were purely admiration and a desire to protect her.
It had to be that way.
Thinking this, Su Yang didn’t feel any more relaxed; instead, she felt more frustrated.
She hated this feeling of being out of control.
She hated how she would turn red and her heart would race just because of one word or one action from Senior.
This was so unlike her.
Wen Yusheng parked the car in front of a high-end Western restaurant.
She unbuckled her seatbelt, turned her head, and looked at Su Yang in the passenger seat.
“We’re here. Let’s get out.”
Only then did Su Yang snap out of it. She hurriedly unbuckled her seatbelt and followed Wen Yusheng out of the car.
The atmosphere of the restaurant was excellent—quiet, with soft lighting and soothing piano music flowing through the air.
Wen Yusheng was clearly a regular. As soon as the waiter saw her, he immediately came forward and respectfully led them to a private table by the window.
After ordering and the waiter’s departure, the atmosphere at the table fell into a brief silence.
Su Yang kept her head down, fiddling with the napkin in front of her, not knowing what to say.
Wen Yusheng, however, appeared very relaxed.
She leaned against the back of her chair, propping her chin with one hand, her gaze landing on Su Yang with a hint of playful observation.
“Junior,” she suddenly spoke.
“Hmm?” Su Yang looked up immediately.
“How do you usually… develop abs like those?” Wen Yusheng’s tone was very casual, as if asking about the weather. “It must be very hard work, right?”
Su Yang didn’t expect her to ask this. She froze for a moment before answering: “It’s… it’s alright. I just stick to core training every day—crunches, planks, and various variations of abdominal exercises. Combined with a lot of aerobic exercise, once the body fat percentage is low, the muscle lines naturally show.”
She spoke simply, but Wen Yusheng could imagine the dull and grueling daily training process.
“I see.” Wen Yusheng nodded. Her gaze once again fell upon Su Yang’s abdomen; though it was hidden by clothes and she could see nothing, she added, “Then… the texture must be very good, right?”
Su Yang: “!!!”
She felt her heart, which had just calmed down, begin to race madly once again.
Senior… what exactly does she mean!
Why does she always ask such heart-pounding questions!
Su Yang’s face flushed deep red once more.
She opened her mouth, but couldn’t utter a single word.
Seeing her distressed state, Wen Yusheng finally couldn’t help but let out a soft laugh.
Her laughter was light and pleasant, like a string of silver bells.
“I’m just joking.” She blinked, a flash of mischief in her eyes. “Look at how scared you are.”
Su Yang looked at her, but she couldn’t feel relaxed at all.
She felt that Senior… wasn’t actually joking.
That look and that tone both carried a serious intent that made her heart flutter with unease.
Just then, the waiter arrived with the appetizers.
Wen Yusheng withdrew her gaze, picked up her knife and fork, and began to dine elegantly.
It was as if the person who had just flirted with her had vanished again.
Looking at the perfectly mannered and smiling Wen Yusheng across from her, a strong sense of unease rose in Su Yang’s heart.
She felt as if she were being slowly tightened and entangled by an invisible, gentle web.
And she didn’t even have the strength to struggle.
In fact… she was even becoming a little addicted to it.
