The Cruel Beast’s Desire - Chapter 15
That was the reason Yoonjae had sought her out.
The young lady had a rare blood type and was in critical condition due to transfusion side effects.
Hayeon had heard about a child who suffered transfusion side effects when she went to donate blood last time. It seemed more common than she thought.
“She was fine for a while… sigh. She needs to get healthy soon…”
Lady Lee sighed deeply, unaware of Hayeon’s hardening expression.
Whatever else, Lady Lee’s feelings for the young lady were genuine. Along with her affection, her concern was also great.
Hayeon was starting to think that, contrary to the image she had of the woman, she was a good person.
Not intending to, but not wanting to arouse suspicion in Lady Lee, who was giving her a lot of information, Hayeon forced a smile.
“It’s so fortunate that the Executive Director found someone who doesn’t cause side effects, thanks to his efforts.”
She didn’t seem to know that person was Hayeon.
“Yes… that’s fortunate.”
She chose appropriate words to respond, but her heart was aching so much.
“Oh, by the way, did you happen to swim yesterday?”
Lady Lee was talkative and quick to change the subject. Hayeon was glad she finally stopped talking about the young lady, but she didn’t expect Lady Lee to know.
She had been complacent because it was the time when Lady Lee was asleep, but she thought she should be more careful in the future, and gave an awkward smile.
“Did you see me?”
“I couldn’t sleep last night after drinking coffee in the afternoon. Then I remembered in the middle of the night that I forgot to put the kimchi container in the refrigerator, so I went to the kitchen, and Mr. Kang was heading towards the swimming pool.”
“Yes, I couldn’t sleep yesterday either.”
“So, you went swimming. The Executive Director does that often too.”
Hayeon enjoyed chatting with Lady Lee, but the young lady and the Executive Director appeared too often. It was important information, but it weighed heavily on Hayeon’s heart each time.
“How was it swimming? Did you like the pool?”
“The pool was really nice. The water was clean, and it seemed very well maintained.”
It wasn’t just flattery.
Having used the pool directly yesterday, she found it to be the best facility, even though it was a private pool.
“So, the end of the pool is intentionally shallow?”
“That’s for the young lady. She’s afraid of the water. The Executive Director made it shallow so he could teach her to swim but she hasn’t been able to do it much because of her health.”
Again, it was the young lady.
She had never encountered her in this house, but she could feel the young lady’s presence everywhere.
“Are you going swimming today too?”
“Yes. I do it every day, so it feels strange if I don’t.”
“Goodness, you sound just like the Executive Director.”
Lady Lee, who had no idea about Yoonjae and Hayeon’s past, spoke casually every time.
Hayeon was wounded by her innocent words every time. Yet, she smiled faintly like a fool.
“He says swimming late at night is the best. It’s quiet, and what else did he say…”
“It feels like you’re one with the water.”
The words came out without her knowing. Regret washed over her, and Hayeon bit her lip.
Lady Lee, unaware of Hayeon’s feelings, clasped her hands together and laughed heartily.
“Oh my! How amazing. The Executive Director said exactly the same thing. I guess people who like swimming all feel the same way.”
Hayeon couldn’t say that wasn’t the case, so she drank water instead.
“Oh, goodness, look at my forgetfulness. Mr. Kang has to eat dinner alone tonight… is that okay?”
Yoonjae said he was coming home, so she must be taking care of him.
“Of course, you should take care of the Executive Director.”
“The Executive Director doesn’t like me coming and going. He says he’s not a child.”
“Then…”
“Tomorrow is my husband’s memorial day, so I’m taking the last train tonight to leave early.”
“Oh… I didn’t know.”
Hayeon bit her lip at the unexpected words.
“It’s okay. It’s natural you wouldn’t know. The Executive Director is coming late, so don’t worry about it and make sure Mr. Kang eats well. Okay?”
“Yes.”
She was worried about what would happen if someone else saw her approaching Yoonjae, but she was relieved that Lady Lee was leaving the house.
Hayeon saw Lady Lee off and waited for Yoonjae to come home. After confirming that his car was coming in, Hayeon headed straight to the swimming pool.
Her heart beat fast with every step she took.
As she opened the door, the unique smell of the swimming pool permeated her lungs along with the humid air. Thanks to the familiar smell, her pounding heart calmed down.
She did familiar warm-up exercises and carefully entered the water. Hayeon moved her body slowly until she adjusted to the cold temperature.
The moment the swimming pool door opened, Hayeon went underwater up to her head. She crouched down and counted to ten in her head.
When she came out of the water, she saw Yoonjae in her blurry vision. As she wiped her face with her palm, she saw him clearly. Meeting his fierce eyes with a deeply furrowed brow, she shrank back without realizing it.
“What are you doing here?”
“Can’t you tell? I’m swimming.”
His face contorted even more severely. Seeing his fierce eyes shaking back and forth, Hayeon was convinced. She had summoned a part of his memories that he had forgotten.
“Seeing you like this… reminds me of the old days.”
His Adam’s apple slowly went down and up.
Hayeon’s voice echoed low and wistfully in the swimming pool.
“It was definitely a punishment at first.”
“…”
At some point, it had become the time she looked forward to the most. She had said it to provoke him, but it seemed like Hayeon was shaking even more.
“How about it? Want to have a race with me for old time’s sake?”
“I say this every time… do you think you can beat me?”
The “every time” he mentioned was in the past.
“I say this every time too… I’m not racing you because I want to beat you. I’m doing it to boost my pace.”
“You’re not an athlete anymore, what are you going to do by boosting your pace?”
“My heart is beating like crazy.”
Seeing Yoonjae’s eyes deepen, Hayeon looked away, pretending not to notice.
“Are you going to do it or not?”
“What am I going to do without goggles?”
Without answering, Yoonjae walked over to where the swimming equipment was scattered. His back in his swimsuit was no different than before.
Over 190cm tall with broad shoulders, the firm muscles rippling every time he moved looked even better than when he was an athlete.
Her heart was already pounding like crazy, even though they hadn’t even raced yet.
“Here.”
Yoonjae threw the goggles in front of Hayeon.
“Ah, cold.”
The cold water splashed on Hayeon’s face as the goggles fell into the water. Thanks to that, she was able to pull herself together from the memories she was falling into.
Hayeon picked up the slowly sinking goggles and put them on her head. In the meantime, Yoonjae plunged into the water.
A fierce spray of water covered Hayeon.
“Hey, Seo Yoonjae! How many times have I told you to get in the water quietly!”
It was something that happened every time, just like they used to say, and the words came out naturally without time to think it was wrong.
Only after meeting Yoonjae’s cold gaze as he came out of the water did Hayeon realize her mistake.
“I told you.”
“!”
“There is no Seo Yoonjae.”
She knew that there was only Tae Yoonjae.
“I know.”
“Then be careful.”
“I will…”
She answered obediently, but it wasn’t like Kang Hayeon to back down like this.
“But… it’s only been a few days since I knew that.”
His gaze, which had been coldly drifting away, turned back to Hayeon.
“To me, you were Seo Yoonjae for decades.”
His furrowed brow did not smooth out. Hayeon continued, meeting his cold gaze without avoiding it.
“I don’t know when you became Tae Yoonjae… but give me time to adjust. Executive Director Tae Yoonjae.”
He stared at Hayeon in silence for a long time.
She didn’t know how he would react, so she was nervous, but Hayeon smiled faintly without showing it.
“Let’s race, Executive Director Tae Yoonjae.”
It was a provocation.
She couldn’t hide her base desire to seduce him and came on too strong.
Hayeon lowered her goggles, afraid that Yoonjae would realize all her inner thoughts.
As if she was looking forward to the race with him.
He didn’t know what Hayeon wanted, but it was seduction. Knowing that, he decided to respond to the race by throwing her the goggles.
Every time the name Seo Yoonjae came out of her mouth, his heart stung. Even though he was a mess from the betrayal, he still became a hungry beast when he saw Kang Hayeon.
Standing side by side with Hayeon in the swimming pool without lane dividers, his heart was pounding at the long-awaited night race.
“Start five seconds after I leave.”
He was using honorifics when he was Tae Yoonjae, but now that he was speaking informally, he must have become Seo Yoonjae again.
Hayeon splashed forward, creating a spray of water. He started five seconds later, according to their rules, and chased after her heels.
He was chasing after her at full speed, but strangely, he couldn’t catch her. His breathing was ragged, and his heart was beating irregularly. It wasn’t because he didn’t want to lose.
He lost his composure in his impatience to catch her, but she wouldn’t be caught. Seeing Hayeon, who had arrived almost at the same time and was breathing heavily, made his cool reason useless.
He covered her parted lips with his and licked her soft mucous membranes. He drank and drank the sweet nectar.
It was so good that he wanted to curse just by rubbing his bulging lower body between Hayeon’s thighs in a vulgar way.
He didn’t care about Seo Yoonjae or Tae Yoonjae.
Right now, he was just a beast who wanted to devour Kang Hayeon.
