- Chapter 5 - Lock Her in the Confinement Cabin!
Despite Song Qingpei’s constant efforts to avoid conflict with Ming Yu, she couldn’t help but explode upon hearing such an unreasonable demand.
Was this woman insane? Utterly absurd!
If she kept tolerating this, she might really end up having her glands removed. Even an inferior Alpha had their dignity, after all.
Unable to hold back, Song Qingpei glared back at Ming Yu and retorted, “What does your early heat have to do with me? It was your pheromones that provoked me first! Even as a general, you should at least be reasonable!”
Ming Yu clearly hadn’t expected the usually timid Song Qingpei to dare speak to her like this in front of the military doctor.
A flicker of astonishment passed through her eyes, quickly replaced by raging fury. Her chest heaved rapidly as she pointed at Song Qingpei and snapped, “Song Qingpei, how dare you! Shut your mouth!”
What should have been a threatening command instead carried a tone of petulance, weakened by Ming Yu’s exhaustion.
The bizarre scene left the military doctor momentarily stunned, worried that the two might escalate the situation with even more shocking remarks, making things even more awkward.
Hastily intervening, the military doctor said, “General, please calm down. The high-potency inhibitor you just received has severe side effects. It’s crucial to avoid emotional agitation, as it could further disrupt your pheromones and complicate the situation.”
Upon hearing this, a mix of grief and indignation flashed across Ming Yu’s brow, but she had no choice but to suppress her anger.
She knew her own body well, the inhibitor she had just taken was the strongest available. If it proved ineffective, she dreaded to imagine the consequences.
Seeing Ming Yu finally calm down, the military doctor breathed a sigh of relief. “General, please rest for half an hour. Once the medication takes full effect, we’ll assess the results and make further arrangements.”
Ming Yu nodded coldly, and the military doctor immediately activated the medical bed’s rest mode. The transparent cabin door slowly closed, revealing Ming Yu gradually closing her eyes.
Song Qingpei stared blankly, still utterly confused about why she had been summoned in the first place.
She wanted to ask but feared the military doctor was loyal to Ming Yu and would simply ignore her.
Just as the awkwardness peaked, the military doctor finally turned her attention to Song Qingpei, offering a warm smile. “Miss Song, let’s talk privately. There are some things you should know as well.”
Song Qingpei was more than willing and followed the military doctor to a nearby examination room.
As she entered, Song Qingpei noticed the nameplate on the door: Li Man.
Only twenty-eight years old, yet already a senior military doctor Li Man was an exceptional Omega, no wonder she served as Ming Yu’s personal physician.
“Miss Song, there’s no need to be nervous,” Li Man reassured her with a smile. “Please have a seat. I’d like to show you General Ming’s medical records.”
Still skeptical, Song Qingpei sat down. Li Man quickly pulled up the electronic medical records, projecting them onto the screen opposite. Suddenly, a soft, abrupt moan reached Song Qingpei’s ears.
“Mmm, ah!”
The screen displayed a startlingly sensual scene: Ming Yu lay on the medical bed, her face flushed, eyes hazy with desire. Her hands gripped the edges of the bed tightly, her slender neck arched upward like a bound swan, occasionally letting out soft, restrained moans.
Frame by frame, the scenes flashed by rapidly.
Song Qingpei felt her scalp tingle at the sight. The contrast was simply too extreme!
If she hadn’t personally experienced it her amnesiac wife pressing close, softly pleading for intimacy, making such seductive sounds in the heat of passion, she would never have been able to connect that image with the cold, aloof Admiral Ming Yu.
The shock was too overwhelming. Song Qingpei asked in bewilderment, “Dr. Li, why are you showing me this?”
Li Man smiled and gestured for her to be patient and continue watching.
Left with no choice, Song Qingpei gritted her teeth and kept watching.
Faced with such explicit scenes of her former partner, it was nothing short of torment. Even though she had been labeled an inferior Alpha, she couldn’t help but feel aroused. Yet, remembering Ming Yu’s earlier threat to inject her with a potent inhibitor, she firmly suppressed the urge to release her pheromones.
She sat upright, her expression grave, as if she were reviewing a serious academic paper.
Seeing Song Qingpei’s composed demeanor, even Li Man was taken aback. It was rare for an Alpha to remain so calm in the face of such temptation, unless they possessed exceptional mental control, a trait that should have exempted them from being labeled an inferior Alpha.
Unless…
Considering the only possible explanation, Li Man shuddered.
The person before her seemed utterly ordinary. How could she possibly be the one the entire Star Alliance was searching for? It couldn’t be, right!
Unaware of the storm raging in Li Man’s mind, Song Qingpei was simply relieved that the provocative scenes had finally ended. What remained were records of Ming Yu’s medical treatment and the final summary of treatment recommendations.
In essence, it boiled down to this:
After being fully marked, Ming Yu’s pheromones had become abnormally intense, and her heat cycles had grown increasingly sensitive, requiring regular marking from her Alpha partner. However, over the past two years, she had relied solely on inhibitors to suppress her heat, causing the cycles to become more violent and the inhibitors less effective. The dosage had to be continually increased, and the risk of losing control was ever-present.
This time, Ming Yu’s heat had arrived prematurely. Stimulated by Song Qingpei’s Alpha pheromones, Ming Yu’s own pheromones spiraled out of control, resulting in the most intense heat cycle she had ever experienced. The usual inhibitors had completely failed.
At Ming Yu’s insistence, Li Man had no choice but to administer an experimental high-potency inhibitor. However, its effectiveness, side effects, and potential dangers were all unknown.
After reading all this, Song Qingpei’s lips parted and closed repeatedly, but no words came out for a long time.
Hah. Ming Yu would rather endure such agony than let her touch her even once. Faced with such blatant disdain, what else could she say?
Seeing her despondent expression, Li Man couldn’t help but feel sympathy.
Yet, guided by her medical conscience, she said, “Miss Song, I know there may be unresolved history between you and the Admiral. But from a doctor’s perspective, I hope you can talk things out. After all, it’s only a matter of time before the Admiral’s pheromones can no longer be suppressed by inhibitors, and a complete loss of control becomes inevitable.”
Song Qingpei didn’t understand. What was there left to discuss?
Ming Yu was so furious that she threatened to inject her with inhibitors and even carve out her gland. She was nothing but a lamb waiting for slaughter. If anything went wrong with Ming Yu’s pheromones, she would bear the brunt of her anger.
Trembling with rage and despair, Song Qingpei asked, “Dr. Li, is there really no other way?”
“Not at the moment.”
Li Man shook her head helplessly and explained, “Miss Song, your Alpha pheromones are too dominant. The complete mark left on the General simply cannot be artificially removed. Currently, the General cannot accept being marked by any other Alpha.”
“How is that possible!” Song Qingpei exclaimed in astonishment. “My test results show I’m an inferior Alpha with extremely weak mental energy. My markings on Omegas are of the lowest grade, I’m not even qualified to pilot a mech.”
Hearing this, Li Man wasn’t particularly surprised, as she had already learned this information from Ming Yu beforehand.
Since she hadn’t met Song Qingpei in person, she couldn’t draw any definitive conclusions.
Now, bringing up the topic again and thinking of her own speculation, she quickly suppressed her excitement and suggested, “Miss Song, test results can sometimes be wrong. How about I personally conduct another test for you?”
After a moment’s thought, Song Qingpei readily agreed.
After all, she wanted to clarify the situation quickly and cut ties with Ming Yu. Who knew what unreasonable madness this lunatic would resort to next? If Ming Yu really decided to gouge out her gland in a fit of rage, she wouldn’t even be able to run away for her daughter’s sake.
With her consent, Li Man immediately took her into the testing room.
After completing the tests, Li Man stood up and said, “Miss Song, the results will take about four hours. I’ll notify you once they’re ready. For now, let’s go check on the General.”
Song Qingpei instinctively frowned.
Thinking she was afraid Ming Yu would take out his anger on her, Li Man smiled reassuringly. “Miss Song, there’s no need to worry. What the General said earlier was just spoken in anger. We would never administer strong inhibitors without a patient’s consent, let alone remove a patient’s gland.”
However, these words did little to comfort Song Qingpei.
If Ming Yu had that idea, given her temperament and methods, she would undoubtedly find countless ways to force her compliance. Her daughter was her weakness, and Ming Yu knew it all too well.
Thinking this, Song Qingpei gritted her teeth and said, “Dr. Li, I’ll accept the inhibitor injection.”
It wasn’t like she had much need in that area anyway. Once she received the injection, Ming Yu couldn’t possibly blame her uncontrollable pheromones on her anymore.
Li Man sighed helplessly. “Alright, follow me.”
Before administering the inhibitor, Li Man followed procedure by asking Song Qingpei about her previous injection doses and frequency. Learning that Song Qingpei had never received an inhibitor before, she was once again utterly shocked.
An Alpha who had completely marked an Omega, no matter how indifferent their pheromones, couldn’t possibly have no needs in that regard.
Unless she had marked a new Omega afterward.
Considering this possibility, Li Man couldn’t help but admire Song Qingpei’s audacity daring to mark a new Omega after completely marking the General.
If the General found out, the consequences were unimaginable.
She gave Song Qingpei a complicated look but continued with the procedure. “Miss Song, when was the last time you had relations with an Omega?”
Song Qingpei was completely baffled by the question.
She hadn’t seen Ming Yu in two years shouldn’t Dr. Li already know that? Why was she asking?
Assuming it was just routine medical questioning, she answered truthfully, “Ah, it’s been two.” Before she could finish the word “years,”
she saw Dr. Li suddenly stand up and address someone behind her with concern, “General, why are you out of bed? How are you feeling?”
Song Qingpei quickly turned around to see Ming Yu standing behind her with a frosty expression.
Her already cold face now seemed even more frigid, as chilling as a snow lotus atop a mountain peak.
Without even glancing at Song Qingpei, she said to Li Man, “Dr. Li, the pheromone levels are relatively stable now. It seems to be working.”
“That’s good to hear.” Li Man breathed a sigh of relief. “Then, General, please come back tomorrow for another check-up. I’ll collect your physical data for comparison.”
“Alright.”
After speaking, Ming Yu shot Song Qingpei an indifferent glance and frowned as she asked, “Has she been given the inhibitor?”
Li Man replied, “Miss Song has already agreed. I’ll administer it right away.”
Ming Yu said nothing more and simply sat to the side, silently waiting, as if afraid the two might collude to deceive her.
Originally, Li Man had wanted to question Song Qingpei further, but with Ming Yu present, she didn’t dare ask anything carelessly, fearing that if Ming Yu found out Song Qingpei had dared to mark another Omega, she might fly into a rage and force her to remove Song Qingpei’s gland.
Out of habit, Li Man assumed that Song Qingpei was merely experiencing the normal onset of Alpha pheromones after two months without marking an Omega and that a stronger inhibitor was necessary to prevent being easily triggered by Omega pheromones.
Worried that Song Qingpei might lose control and incur Ming Yu’s wrath, she gritted her teeth and administered a potent inhibitor.
Song Qingpei had a strong adverse reaction to the powerful inhibitor, grimacing in pain as cold sweat beaded on her forehead.
Li Man inquired with concern, explaining that this was a normal reaction and that she might experience chills and weakness over the next few days, advising her to rest well.
Clenching her teeth, Song Qingpei nodded. Before she could fully recover, Ming Yu stood up and urged her to leave.
Clutching the injection site, Song Qingpei silently cursed Ming Yu as cold-blooded in her mind. She stood up, thanked Li Man, and quietly followed Ming Yu out.
The two walked in silence.
Ming Yu, with her long, straight legs, walked as swiftly as the wind. Already uncomfortable, Song Qingpei struggled to keep up and eventually gave up, slowing her pace without bothering to catch up.
Noticing that Song Qingpei had fallen behind, Ming Yu frowned, stopped in her tracks, and glared back with visible impatience.
When Song Qingpei finally caught up, Ming Yu sneered coldly, “Can’t you hurry up? It’s just an inhibitor injection. Who are you trying to impress with all this drama?”
Her tone was dripping with sarcasm, sending chills down one’s spine.
Already feeling unwell, Song Qingpei couldn’t hold back a retort upon hearing such harsh words. “Yes, yes, of course, I can’t compare to General Ming’s vast experience. After all, your pheromones are so potent you need seven inhibitor injections in one night.”
“Song Qingpei!”
Ming Yu suddenly snapped, cutting her off sharply.
Song Qingpei froze for a moment but refused to back down, gritting her teeth as she insisted, “I’m only stating the facts. Why are you making such a fuss, General?”
With that, she turned to leave.
In a flash, Ming Yu stepped in front of her, grabbed her by the neck, and slammed her against the wall, glaring at her coldly. “Say that again, I dare you.”
The intimidating aura surrounding Ming Yu was so overwhelming that even Song Qingpei couldn’t help but feel a flicker of instinctive fear.
But recalling their past and all the times she had swallowed her pride, a stubborn streak surged within her, and she refused to show weakness. “Why wouldn’t I dare say it?”
“Ming Yu, let me tell you this from the moment you regained your memories, I considered you dead. There’s no way I could still have any feelings for you.”
“It’s your own overwhelming pheromones you can’t control, what right do you have to take it out on others?”
“If I had known you were this cold-blooded and unreasonable, I never should have saved you back then!”
Pouring out all her grievances in one breath, Song Qingpei felt an overwhelming sense of relief.
Unbeknownst to her, Ming Yu’s face had already turned ashen, her icy gaze sharp and venomous, as if she wished she could devour Song Qingpei whole.
Song Qingpei froze, her heart pounding erratically.
“Fine, fine, fine!”
Ming Yu spat out three “fines” in a low, menacing tone. She gripped Song Qingpei’s neck, enunciating each word clearly: “Then let me show you now what true cold-bloodedness and unreasonableness really mean!”
With that, she shoved Song Qingpei away.
Stumbling backward, Song Qingpei hit the wall and began coughing, her lips trembling.
Ming Yu acted as if she hadn’t seen it. She activated her personal terminal and commanded, “Lieutenant Lin, come here immediately and escort Song Qingpei to the confinement chamber. Without my permission, she is not to take a single step outside.”
Her voice was not loud, but the resolute tone sent a chill down Song Qingpei’s spine, tightening her heart with dread.
“Ming Yu! What are you doing? Have you gone mad?” Song Qingpei shouted furiously.
Ming Yu paid no attention.
Soon, Lieutenant Lin arrived hurriedly with her team.
Startled by the tense scene before her, she dared not question the general’s orders. She could only cast an apologetic glance at Song Qingpei.
“Miss Song, my apologies.”
Song Qingpei was restrained by two people on either side, unable to move.
Panicked, she struggled and cried out, “Let me go! Ming Yu, you bastard! What are you trying to do?”
Ming Yu ignored her and turned away coldly.
Seeing this, Lieutenant Lin sighed helplessly and gestured for her subordinates to drag the already weakened Song Qingpei into the confinement chamber.
Out of a sense of past acquaintance, Lieutenant Lin couldn’t help but advise, “Miss Song, why must you oppose the general? It would be better to yield and apologize. Once the general’s anger subsides, she will surely release you.”
Song Qingpei seemed to have lost all her strength, slumping weakly against the corner of the wall without a word.
Lieutenant Lin sighed, shook her head, and left.
As the door to the confinement chamber sealed shut, Song Qingpei’s heart sank into despair.
She wasn’t overly worried about her daughter after all, judging by Ming Yu’s attitude toward Song Song, she genuinely cared for her.
But Ming Yu’s actions this time had brutally torn open the stark inequality in their relationship, wounding her deeply.
She knew Ming Yu came from a noble background, the Empire’s Rose admired by all, and that an insurmountable chasm lay between them. It was only natural for Ming Yu to look down on her and despise her. No matter how much it pained her to recall those warm, sweet memories, she had never resented Ming Yu for it.
She knew she wasn’t worthy.
But now, for the first time, she felt hatred toward Ming Yu.
She had saved Ming Yu, had done everything willingly, and yet Ming Yu repaid kindness with cruelty.
Was it all because she had lost her memories?
At this thought, Song Qingpei covered her face, her shoulders trembling slightly. Choked sobs escaped her lips as tears trickled through her fingers.
What had she done wrong? Why did she have to endure all this?
