The Crematorium of the Top Omega Chasing After Alpha - Chapter 30.2
Mingyu’s gaze remained calm, her tone carrying a note of unwavering resolve. “Marshal, Lin Qi and Jiang Ze’s capabilities truly align with the academy’s needs. Their transfer was made with the bigger picture in mind.”
Lin Haiping sighed. “Mingyu, I know you always stick to your principles, but sometimes, being too rigid can lead to breaking. You should at least show some consideration for Zhan Nansheng. After all, you’re colleagues. There’s no need to make things so tense.”
Mingyu fell silent for a moment before lifting her head, her eyes resolute. “Marshal, I understand your concern. However, the establishment of the advanced military academy is vital to the future of the military. I cannot compromise due to personal relationships. If Zhan Nansheng has objections to the appointments, she can file a complaint through the proper channels. I will respect the military’s final decision.”
Lin Haiping looked at Mingyu, a complex emotion flickering in his eyes.
He shook his head helplessly, a trace of emotion in his tone. “You’re still so stubborn. Once you’ve made up your mind, nothing can change it.”
Ming Yu’s eyes flickered briefly before quickly returning to calm.
She said lightly, “Marshal, if there’s nothing else, I’ll return to work now.”
Lin Haiping nodded, a note of resignation in his voice. “Go ahead. But I still hope you can get along better with Zhan Nansheng and try to ease the tension between you.”
Ming Yu stood up and turned to leave the office.
Though her expression remained composed, her heart was anything but calm as she stepped out of the marshal’s office.
She knew Lin Haiping’s words held truth, Zhan Nansheng’s father’s influence was indeed significant. However, she had no intention of backing down. While personal reasons had played a part in her decision to transfer those two individuals, their abilities were truly top-notch and indispensable to the military academy’s establishment. She had no regrets.
Returning to her office, Ming Yu settled back into her chair and resumed reviewing the documents in her hand.
Just then, another knock sounded at the door.
“Come in,” Ming Yu said calmly, looking up.
The door opened, and Song Xihan entered once more.
Noticing Ming Yu’s slightly weary expression, a flicker of concern crossed her eyes. “How did it go? What did the marshal say?”
Ming Yu shook her head, her tone indifferent. “Nothing much. He just wants me to improve my relationship with Zhan Nansheng.”
Song Xihan raised an eyebrow. “So what are you going to do? Keep pushing back?”
Ming Yu didn’t answer, only offering a faint, subtle smile.
Understanding her meaning, Song Xihan changed the subject. “By the way, isn’t your fever period still ongoing? You don’t look well.”
Ming Yu nodded calmly. “It’s fine for now.”
Song Xihan frowned, her voice tinged with worry. “You can’t keep going like this. The fever period already takes a toll on your body, and if you push yourself like this, you’ll collapse sooner or later.”
Ming Yu didn’t respond, simply lowering her head to continue reading the documents.
“You’re so stubborn it’s impossible to reason with you,” Song Xihan sighed before continuing, “Actually, there’s something I wanted to discuss with you about Murong Ruixue.”
Hearing the name, Ming Yu immediately showed interest and looked up. “Go on.”
Song Xihan’s tone carried clear admiration as she spoke of Murong Ruixue. “Ming Yu, I think Murong Ruixue is a rare talent. Her company, Blue Sea Group, has exceptional capabilities in mecha maintenance and development. If we can recruit her as a teacher at the advanced military academy, it would greatly benefit our related programs.”
Ming Yu furrowed her brow slightly upon hearing this, her fingers lightly tapping the desk as if deep in thought.
After a moment, she nodded calmly. “That’s possible, but we need to conduct a background check first. After all, the faculty at the advanced military academy must be absolutely reliable.”
Song Xihan couldn’t resist teasing her. “As your ‘rival in love,’ hasn’t Murong Ruixue already been thoroughly investigated by you? Do we really need another background check?”
Ming Yu’s frown deepened, a hint of displeasure in her voice. “Don’t talk nonsense. How much do you actually know about Murong Ruixue?”
Song Xihan noticed Ming Yu’s serious expression and immediately reined in her smile.
After a moment of contemplation, she answered truthfully: “Murong Ruixue and I graduated from the military academy in the same year. She truly has remarkable talent in mecha maintenance. After graduation, she joined Blue Sea Group, and I’ve heard she has performed exceptionally well there over the years. However, I don’t know much about her background.”
After listening to Song Xihan’s explanation, Ming Yu’s brow remained furrowed. After a brief pause, she said quietly: “Let’s wait for now. We’ll proceed after Ming Rui finishes investigating her background.”
Song Xihan nodded. Though she had some questions in her mind, she didn’t press further.
She knew that Ming Yu was always cautious, and since she had said so, there must be a reason behind her considerations.
After seeing Song Xihan off, Ming Yu finished her work and finally relaxed. Yet, the image of Song Qingpei and Murong Ruixue chatting and laughing together involuntarily surfaced in her mind once more.
She had to do something.
The thoughts from last night grew even more resolute within her. If Ming Yu liked her amnesiac self, then she would simply revert to that state. However, acting clingy and coquettish was genuinely challenging for her.
Still, after a moment of hesitation, Ming Yu contacted Li Man in advance. Once she finished her tasks, she went straight to see her.
When Li Man saw Ming Yu enter, she gave a bitter smile. “General, you’re here so early?”
Ming Yu skipped the pleasantries and got straight to the point. “Li Man, about what I mentioned on the phone earlier have you found a way to help me return to my amnesiac state?”
Faced with such a tricky question, Li Man frowned. “You mean returning to that state without affecting your normal life?”
Ming Yu nodded firmly. “Yes, it must not interfere with my work.”
Li Man set down the medical records in her hand, her expression turning serious. “General Ming, this request is rather difficult. I can refer you to a professional psychologist. She’s an expert in this field and might be able to offer some advice.”
Ming Yu nodded. “That’s fine.”
Li Man picked up the phone and dialed a number.
A gentle woman’s voice answered on the other end. “Hello, Dr. Li?”
“It’s me, Dr. Lin,” Li Man replied. “I have a patient here with a rather unique situation who may need your assistance.”
Dr. Lin on the other end didn’t seem surprised, responding calmly, “Alright, have her come over. I can arrange a session anytime.”
After hanging up, Li Man turned to Ming Yu. “Dr. Lin is an expert in psychological hypnosis. You can try consulting her. However, I must remind you hypnosis isn’t a cure-all. It might come with some unexpected side effects.”
Ming Yu nodded, choosing to proceed.
Li Man sighed. “Alright then, I’ll accompany you.”
The two of them drove to the hospital where Dr. Lin practiced.
Throughout the journey, Ming Yu’s emotions were complicated. She wasn’t sure if hypnosis could truly restore her to her pre-amnesiac state, but she knew it was her only chance.
When they arrived at the clinic, Dr. Lin was already waiting.
She was a middle-aged Omega with a gentle demeanor and a reassuring presence in her eyes.
Smiling softly at Ming Yu, she said, “You must be Ming Yu? Dr. Li briefly explained your situation to me.”
Ming Yu nodded. “Yes, Dr. Lin. Do you think there’s a way?”
Dr. Lin gestured for Ming Yu to sit, her tone calm. “Hypnosis can indeed help you revisit past memories, but only if your subconscious is willing to accept such changes.”
Ming Yu remained silent for a moment before finally nodding. “I understand. I’m willing to try.”
Dr. Lin smiled gently. “Good, then let’s begin now.”
Ming Yu lay on the hypnotherapy chair, her head connected to advanced equipment. As she closed her eyes, Dr. Lin’s soothing voice filled her ears.
Her consciousness gradually blurred, as if she were entering an unfamiliar world.
In that world, she saw her former self before the amnesia, the powerful, confident, and fearless Ming Yu. Standing high above, she looked down upon everything as if the entire world were under her control.
Yet, as the hypnosis deepened, she also saw herself after the memory loss, the fragile, dependent, and even somewhat humble Meng Meng, whose eyes were filled with Song Qingpei.
The two images intertwined endlessly in her mind, as if engaged in a silent struggle.
Ming Yu felt a splitting headache and wanted to escape, only to find there was nowhere to go.
Just then, Dr. Lin’s voice sounded again: “Ming Yu, try to accept them. They are both parts of you. Only when you truly accept yourself can you find inner balance.”
Ming Yu’s breathing gradually steadied, and the image of Song Qingpei surfaced in her mind.
The Song Qingpei who had once treated her with tenderness, and the Song Qingpei who now remained cold and distant.
Dr. Lin’s voice was gentle and soothing, as if carrying a certain magic, slowly guiding her into a state of relaxation.
“Ming Yu, close your eyes, take a deep breath relax your body, relax your thoughts. Now, I will give you a keyword. When you hear it, you will enter a post-hypnotic state, returning to the self you were after the amnesia. You can immerse yourself in that state, but you can also control when you wake up at any time.”
“The keyword is, ‘dream.'”
Ming Yu’s breathing gradually steadied, and her body relaxed completely.
Her consciousness began to blur, as if enveloped in a soft, thin mist.
Dr. Lin’s voice continued to echo in her ears: “When you hear the word ‘Meng Meng,’ you will forget that you have regained your memories and return to how you were back then. But remember, you can wake up at any time, as long as you wish.”
Images from the time of her amnesia surfaced in Ming Yu’s mind.
The self whom Song Qingpei had called “Meng Meng.”
A gentle smile unconsciously appeared at the corner of her lips, as if she had returned to those days.
Dr. Lin said softly, “Now, I will wake you up, but the keyword has been implanted in your subconscious. When you speak this command, the hypnosis will begin, helping you enter the desired state.”
Ming Yu slowly opened her eyes, her gaze tinged with a hint of confusion, but it soon cleared.
Dr. Lin smiled and said, “Remember, hypnosis is just a tool. Real change lies within yourself. You can enter that state at any time, but you must also learn to control it.”
Ming Yu nodded, feeling a strange sensation as if she had split into two personalities. She could use the keyword to return to her amnesiac state or wake up at any time to return to her original self.
She had found an excellent way to rebuild her relationship with Song Qingpei.
She suddenly felt a sense of anticipation about how Song Qingpei would react to all of this.
After leaving the hospital and parting ways with Li Man, Ming Yu couldn’t resist calling Song Qingpei.
Song Qingpei’s slightly puzzled voice came from the other end of the line: “Ming Yu?”
Ming Yu took a deep breath and said, “Qingpei, can you come home early tonight?”
There was a moment of silence on the other end before Song Qingpei’s gentle voice replied, “Alright, I’ll try to come back as early as I can.”
After hanging up the phone, Song Qingpei lowered her head to look at the tools in her hand. Ming Yu’s voice involuntarily surfaced in her mind, carrying a tone of anticipation that made her uneasy.
Is Ming Yu planning to stir up trouble again?
The thought of the outfit Ming Yu had worn the previous night made Song Qingpei’s head throb almost painfully. She shook her head, trying to dispel the distracting thoughts and refocus on the mecha repair work before her.
Murong Ruixue, standing nearby, keenly noticed Song Qingpei’s unusual demeanor.
She raised an eyebrow, her tone laced with a hint of teasing, “Qingpei, was that General Ming on the phone? Have you two made up?”
Song Qingpei’s movements paused slightly as she replied calmly, “We’re just friends.”
Murong Ruixue clearly wasn’t satisfied with this answer and wanted to press further, but Song Qingpei deftly changed the subject.
“Ruixue-jie, there’s an issue with this mecha’s energy system. We need to fix it quickly.”
Seeing this, Murong Ruixue had no choice but to suppress her curiosity and nodded, beginning to guide Song Qingpei earnestly.
The two worked together with seamless coordination, their movements fluid as if they had collaborated countless times before.
However, as the repairs progressed, the distance between them inevitably narrowed.
Murong Ruixue suddenly leaned closer, her breath carrying a faint, sweet fragrance that lingered at the tip of Song Qingpei’s nose. Song Qingpei’s body stiffened slightly, and she instinctively took a step back, trying to create some space.
But Murong Ruixue seemed unaware of her discomfort and continued to focus on guiding her.
“This part needs further adjustment, the energy transmission stability isn’t sufficient.”
Murong Ruixue’s voice sounded close to Song Qingpei’s ear, accompanied by a warm breath.
Suppressing her inner awkwardness, Song Qingpei nodded and continued with her work.
Just then, Murong Ruixue suddenly reached out and grasped Song Qingpei’s wrist, saying with a serious expression, “Qingpei, wait. This part requires more precise adjustments.”
Song Qingpei’s body froze instantly.
The warmth of Murong Ruixue’s palm transmitted through her skin, carrying an undeniable sensation.
She instinctively tried to pull her hand back, but Murong Ruixue tightened her grip.
Song Qingpei subconsciously looked up at Murong Ruixue, only to meet her intense gaze, the fervor in her eyes almost impossible to conceal. Suddenly recalling what Murong Ruixue had said earlier, Song Qingpei’s heart tightened, and she felt an unprecedented pressure.
She opened her mouth, attempting to say something, but Murong Ruixue spoke first.
“Qingpei, I have feelings for you,” her voice trembled slightly, as if suppressing inner emotions. “If there’s no chance between you and General Ming anymore, could you consider me?”
Song Qingpei was stunned. She hadn’t expected Murong Ruixue to confess so directly.
Her mind went blank, and for a moment, she didn’t know how to respond.
“Ruixue-jie, I…” Song Qingpei’s voice was somewhat hoarse. “I just want to focus on my work right now. I don’t want to think about relationships.”
Murong Ruixue’s eyes dimmed instantly. She released Song Qingpei’s hand and forced a faint smile. “I understand, Qingpei. You don’t need to feel pressured. I just wanted you to know how I feel.”
A complex mix of emotions surged in Song Qingpei’s heart. Watching Murong Ruixue’s forced smile, she felt a pang of sympathy, yet she knew she couldn’t offer any hope.
Taking a deep breath, she spoke with a hint of apology in her tone, “Ruixue, I’m sorry. I…”
Murong Ruixue nodded, her smile still strained. “It’s alright, Qingpei. We’re still friends, right?”
Song Qingpei nodded in return, but a heavy weight settled in her heart. She knew the relationship between them had subtly shifted and could never return to the simplicity of before.
Just then, Murong Ruixue’s light brain chimed.
She glanced down and saw a message from Li Man. Excusing herself, she turned and walked away.
Finding a secluded spot, she checked the message.
It was brief, containing only one sentence: “Find a way to drive a wedge between Song Qingpei and Ming Yu. Do not let them reconcile.”
A flicker of complexity passed through Murong Ruixue’s eyes. She deleted the message and walked back.
“Qingpei, the repair work on this mech might take a bit longer,” Murong Ruixue said, her tone laced with concern. “If you have something to do, you can head back first. I’ll stay and work overtime.”
Song Qingpei was taken aback for a moment, then shook her head. “No, it’s fine. I’ll stay and help you.”
Murong Ruixue pressed on, “But didn’t General Ming ask you to return early? Don’t worry, I can manage on my own.”
Song Qingpei’s brow furrowed slightly. She checked the time and realized it was much later than expected.
After a moment’s hesitation, she finally took out her light brain and sent a message to Ming Yu: “Sorry, the mech repairs aren’t finished yet. I might be working very late.”
Meanwhile, Ming Yu received Song Qingpei’s message, and her mood instantly plummeted.
She took a deep breath, struggling to suppress her displeasure, reminding herself not to get angry.
She walked into the bathroom and took a hot shower, trying to calm herself down.
After her shower, Ming Yu changed into comfortable sleepwear. She hesitated for a moment by the bed, then turned and entered Song Qingpei’s room.
Lying on Song Qingpei’s bed, she breathed in the familiar scent, and a strange sense of comfort washed over her.
Closing her eyes, Ming Yu muttered to herself, “I refuse to believe you won’t come back today.”
