The Crematorium of the Top Omega Chasing After Alpha - Chapter 11
After Ming Yu left following breakfast, she didn’t return for the entire day.
Song Song had also been taken by Steward Su to attend classes. Though Song Qingpei was uneasy, Steward Su was reasonable enough to let her watch Song Song’s class via surveillance. Song Song demonstrated remarkable learning abilities, earning high praise from the teacher.
While relieved, Song Qingpei felt an emptiness in her heart.
She had a growing premonition that Song Song would drift further and further away from her. After all, the starting point Ming Yu was providing for their daughter might very well be a destination she herself could never reach in her lifetime.
Weighed down by worries, Song Qingpei sat idly in her room all afternoon.
It wasn’t until Song Song finished her classes and came running joyfully into her arms, snuggling up to her, that she felt alive again.
“Mommy, I’m so tired!”
“Song Song is amazing.”
Song Qingpei praised her while gently stroking her little head.
Song Song tilted her head, gesturing excitedly: “I learned so many things today! I really love mechas. I want Mommy to take me to pilot one when she comes back!”
“Okay.”
Suppressing the ache in her heart, Song Qingpei nodded with a smile.
Though still young, Song Song sensed something was wrong and leaned closer to ask softly, “Mommy, are you unhappy?”
“No, of course not.” Startled, Song Qingpei quickly smiled. “Why would you ask that, Song Song?”
After thinking for a moment, Song Song replied, “But Mommy hasn’t been smiling lately. You used to smile a lot.”
Touched and pained by her daughter’s keen perception of her emotions, Song Qingpei sighed helplessly and forced a smile.
“Song Song, Mommy is fine.”
“Mommy is lying!”
Frowning, Song Song cupped Song Qingpei’s face with her small hands, staring intently at her. “Mommy, why are you unhappy? Don’t you like it here?”
Feeling guilty and heartbroken but unable to explain, Song Qingpei could only hold her close and kiss her, casually saying, “Be good, Song Song. Mommy isn’t unhappy, just a little homesick.”
To her surprise, Song Song blurted out, “Then let’s go home!”
Song Qingpei was taken aback and instinctively replied, “If we go home, you won’t see Mommy anymore. Don’t you want to be with Mommy?”
“Of course I want to be with Mommy.”
Looking troubled, Song Song pressed her cheek against Song Qingpei’s and said, “But I don’t want Mommy to be unhappy. If you want to go home, I’ll go with you.”
Those words nearly brought tears to Song Qingpei’s fearful eyes.
She took a moment to compose herself, then began to regret her own sentimentality, worried it might affect Song Song’s adjustment to the new environment. Just as she was about to explain things properly to Song Song, she suddenly felt an instinctive chill.
Song Qingpei looked up abruptly to see Ming Yu standing coldly at the door, her gaze heavy.
It was impossible to tell how long she had been standing there.
Song Qingpei’s heart sank. She instinctively pulled Song Song behind her and looked at Ming Yu defensively.
“When did you get here? Why didn’t you make any noise when walking?”
Ming Yu sneered. “Feeling guilty for talking behind someone’s back?”
Unwilling to argue, Song Qingpei replied calmly, “No.”
Ming Yu had heard every word clearly, and her discomfort only grew. She found Song Qingpei utterly selfish, using their daughter’s sympathy to achieve her own ends.
She no longer looked at Song Qingpei, instead turning to Song Song and saying, “Song Song, come here.”
Song Song glanced at Song Qingpei, then at Ming Yu, clutching Song Qingpei’s sleeve without letting go.
“Mommy is unhappy, I need to stay with Mommy.”
“Song Song, she’s lying to you. Come here,” Ming Yu snapped sharply.
Song Song was startled, looking timidly at Ming Yu with a tearful voice, “You’re lying! Mommy would never lie to me!”
Seeing Song Song’s pitiful expression, Ming Yu’s heart softened, and she bent down to pick her up.
Song Song refused the hug, quickly dodging and throwing herself into Song Qingpei’s arms.
Seeing this, Song Qingpei hurriedly stepped between them. “Song Song is still young and doesn’t understand anything. Don’t scare her.”
Ming Yu watched the intimate posture of the mother and daughter, feeling as if a heavy stone were lodged in her chest.
She took a few deep breaths to calm her emotions, explaining in a flat tone, “There’s a family banquet at the old residence tonight. I’m taking Song Song to dinner. Song Qingpei, don’t play any tricks at a time like this.”
Song Qingpei understood that this meant Ming Yu was taking Song Song to meet the family, which was a semi-public acknowledgment of Song Song’s status.
Suddenly, she remembered the phone call Ming Yu had received that morning.
A family banquet? A blind date? Taking their daughter along?
Had Ming Yu and that blind date already grown so close?
Moreover, the other party must already know about Song Song’s existence and still be willing to continue the relationship with Ming Yu.
For a moment, Song Qingpei felt a mix of emotions, unsure of what to say.
Her silence, in Ming Yu’s eyes, seemed like unwillingness. Ming Yu thought Song Qingpei had been pretending to be pitiful in front of Song Song just to manipulate her through their daughter, solidifying this advantageous marriage of convenience.
She couldn’t help but issue a warning: “Song Qingpei, don’t covet what isn’t yours.”
Song Qingpei was taken aback, looking up at Ming Yu in confusion.
Ming Yu, interpreting this as having hit a sore spot, curled her lips into a mocking smile. “I remember saying from the start not to expect me to go along with a mistake. Even now, you still haven’t given up, have you?”
“…”
Song Qingpei lowered her head silently, saying nothing.
It wasn’t that she hadn’t tried to explain before, but in Ming Yu’s eyes, explanations were just excuses. She was seen as a scheming woman trying to climb the social ladder. Now, there was no need for further explanations.
Song Qingpei lowered her gaze, offering no rebuttal, and instead gently coaxed Song Song.
Ensuring Song Song gained the approval of Ming Yu’s elders couldn’t be delayed. Fortunately, no matter how much prejudice Ming Yu held against her, she always had Song Song’s best interests at heart. This was the reason Song Qingpei could repeatedly compromise and maintain peace with Ming Yu.
After half an hour of patient coaxing, Song Song finally agreed to go with Ming Yu for dinner.
She emerged from Song Qingpei’s embrace, puffing out her cheeks as she said to Ming Yu, “If you bully Mommy again, I won’t like you anymore.”
Hearing this, Ming Yu shot a cold glance at Song Qingpei but said nothing.
Song Qingpei watched the two leave, her heart aching at the thought of Ming Yu taking their daughter to meet a blind date.
Unexpectedly, Ming Yu only called for Steward Su and asked her to take Song Song to change clothes.
With only the two of them left in the room, Song Qingpei wondered what Ming Yu intended to do next.
Was she going to threaten, warn, or humiliate her again? To make her know her place and not aspire beyond her station? She had almost memorized those lines by now.
Song Qingpei sneered inwardly, never expecting Ming Yu to suddenly lean in close to her. “Bite me.”
As she spoke, Ming Yu had already unbuttoned her collar, revealing a pale, slender neck. She even tilted her head to the side, deliberately exposing her gland.
Song Qingpei froze for a moment before realizing that Ming Yu was still in her heat cycle. She must have been worried about her pheromones going haywire during the family banquet and had asked for a calming mark. Unconsciously, Song Qingpei clenched her fist, a mix of anger and resentment swirling inside her.
How could someone be so shamelessly brazen, asking for a mark while taking her daughter to meet a potential match?
Seeing her remain motionless, Ming Yu grew impatient and urged sharply, “Hurry up!”
Furious, Song Qingpei’s chest heaved as she bit down hard.
The next second, Ming Yu felt a sharp pain in her gland, followed by the sensation of a tongue swirling over it. As the Alpha’s pheromones flooded in, her body gradually grew feverish.
But Song Qingpei seemed unsatisfied with just a brief mark. Her tongue explored the gland, lingering and teasing deep within, sending tremors through Ming Yu until her entire body went limp, collapsing into Song Qingpei’s embrace.
Ming Yu, who always preferred to be in control, couldn’t stand this vulnerable reaction. Frowning, she threatened, “Be gentle! Song Qingpei, do you want to die?”
Remembering the humiliation Ming Yu had put her through, Song Qingpei hardened her heart and bit down fiercely on the gland. Pain mingled with a tingling numbness, overwhelming Ming Yu. She instinctively struggled but found her hands pinned, unable to move.
Song Qingpei’s eyes darkened as she poured every bit of Alpha pheromone she could muster into the mark.
“Bastard! Ah!”
Ming Yu arched her neck, letting out a hoarse cry as her body trembled uncontrollably, nearly pushing her to the brink of fainting.
This wasn’t a calming mark, it felt more like revenge.
