The Cool and Aloof Immortal Master Has Fallen to the Demonic Path (Transmigration) - Chapter 8
Chapter 8
“Hehehe…” A long, purple whip suddenly floated out from behind the screen. The eerie laughter came from this whip.
The purple whip coiled around Yi Hu’s body like a snake, slowly tightening its grip. Yi Hu felt her bones creaking under the pressure. She had said that the world of immortal cultivation was dangerous, and leaving that cave meant a thousand forms of death, more painful than the natural law of ‘born in the morning and dies in the evening,’ awaited her—such as being strangled to death by a whip that broke her bones and tendons.
She struggled desperately, when a warm current suddenly surged from within her abdomen. Golden light flared around her, and the purple whip was flung away. The whip’s body, enveloped in purple light, stretched and writhed on the ground, emitting a surprised voice: “Who are you? Shen Yin actually gave you a share of her spiritual essence!”
Unlike the green bamboo that gave her its entire spiritual essence, Shen Yin had peeled off a small portion of her spiritual essence and planted it in Yi Hu’s body, allowing Yi Hu to borrow her spiritual essence to save her life. Although it was only a loan, this was extremely rare for a cultivator. After all, if Yi Hu died, Shen Yin would inevitably suffer a severe setback if she didn’t retrieve the shared spiritual essence in time.
The purple whip’s light blossomed, suddenly transforming into a purple-clothed woman before her. Her appearance was hazy, her figure ethereal, in a semi-real, semi-illusory state. She let out a wild laugh: “Shen Yin actually shared her spiritual essence with a useless person who has never cultivated. What a fool!”
Yi Hu clutched her arm, feeling as if her bones were about to be broken, but when the woman insulted Shen Yin, she retorted: “Immortal Master is not stupid!”
Her defense of Shen Yin stemmed from gratitude, but it only made the purple-clothed woman’s smile more twisted: “Who exactly are you to Shen Yin, to defend her like this? You smell so good, as if you have a great tonic effect on spiritual beings. What are you? A spiritual medicine? Or perhaps a suitable vessel?”
“If I consume you, I might be able to break free from this confinement.”
She slowly approached, her purple light growing brighter and more dazzling. Yi Hu was suppressed by a powerful aura, struggling to breathe. She gasped for air, slowly moving backward. The purple-clothed woman turned into a cloud of mist before her eyes, but suddenly converged behind her. Her hand pressed down on Yi Hu’s shoulder: “Don’t move, it will be over soon.”
She snapped back to her senses, finally piecing together a name in her mind: “Zi Ying.”
“You actually know my name? Did Shen Yin tell you?”
Zi Ying was somewhat surprised, and the pressure on Yi Hu’s shoulder slightly lessened, but Yi Hu still couldn’t struggle free.
Yi Hu naturally recognized her. The Immortal Spirit Sect had three semi-divine artifacts. They were called semi-divine artifacts because the true divine artifacts had long been lost, leaving only one sealed divine artifact, the Mirror of Immortal Gazing, a treasure guarded by the Ancient Spirit Clan for generations. The Demonic Sect’s massacre of the Ancient Spirit Clan was also for the Mirror of Immortal Gazing.
Since divine artifacts were scarce and nearly extinct, semi-divine artifacts were considered ultimate treasures. The Immortal Spirit Sect was able to maintain its title as the foremost sect because it had three semi-divine artifacts guarding the sect: the Nine Revolutions Seal, the Flowing Years Lamp, and the Hundred Flowers Chain. Mo Tianji took the Nine Revolutions Seal when he defected. The Flowing Years Lamp recognized Feng Lingyan as its master. The Hundred Flowers Chain originally recognized the previous Sect Master, Jing Shu, as its master, and was controlled by the current Sect Master, Shen Yuehua, after Jing Shu disappeared.
Shen Yin’s purple whip was also a semi-divine artifact, but a damaged one. It was a gift from Mo Tianji to Shen Yin. It seemed like he cherished Shen Yin, but in reality, the whip’s spiritual consciousness had long been devoured by an evil demon’s soul. Once it recognized a master, it would continuously devour the master’s spiritual essence and True Qi until it finally consumed their very bones. Mo Tianji originally intended for the purple whip to devour Shen Yin, but unexpectedly, the former Sect Master placed powerful constraints on the purple whip. It couldn’t do anything to Shen Yin, and Shen Yin rarely used it.
Later, when Shen Yin demonized, the whip also contributed to it.
However, Zi Ying’s attempt to pull Shen Yin into the demonic path ultimately harmed herself. The demonized Shen Yin immediately devoured all of the purple whip’s spiritual energy, including Zi Ying’s spiritual consciousness. She wanted to use Shen Yin as a tonic, but she ended up becoming Shen Yin’s medicine.
And now, Yi Hu was about to become Zi Ying’s tonic.
Zi Ying curled her waist, bringing her nose close to Yi Hu’s neck, sniffing greedily: “You’re not Shen Yin’s illegitimate daughter, are you? Your blood smells so good, just like Shen Yin’s.”
It felt like something fuzzy was wriggling on her neck. Yi Hu trembled all over, a chill running down her spine: “Get lost!”
Her angry shout made Zi Ying laugh: “Do you think Shen Yin will come back to save you? Don’t be silly. Before she returns, I will consume you until there’s nothing but bones left.”
Zi Ying transformed back into the shape of the purple whip and coiled tightly around Yi Hu. It was like a thorny vine, and as it tightened, the barbs dug into her body, creating numerous small holes. Blood flowed from the tiny punctures. Her body was enveloped in golden light, and outside the golden light was a layer of deep purple light. The two forces were struggling against each other. Yi Hu’s forehead was covered in fine beads of sweat. Pain…
She was in terrible pain, and even deep gasps of air couldn’t alleviate it.
Finally, the golden light grew weaker and weaker. Zi Ying strangled her tighter and tighter. The barbs dug deeper and deeper. Her bones felt like they were being crushed one by one. Yi Hu couldn’t breathe. She was going to die again.
Could someone tell her if she could still be revived after this kind of death?
Yi Hu’s vision grew increasingly blurry. She gradually couldn’t see clearly. Suddenly, she heard a “bang!” The force constricting her lessened, and Yi Hu fell to the ground. Zi Ying had been flung against the corner of the wall. Yi Hu looked toward the doorway. Sure enough, a figure in a cyan robe appeared there. She opened her mouth and let out a weak sound: “Immortal Master…”
Shen Yin hurried forward. She slightly knelt down and picked Yi Hu up. A steady stream of golden light began to flow into Yi Hu’s body. The wounds that were still seeping blood slowly healed. Yi Hu leaned against Shen Yin, tears of relief flowing down her face.
Shen Yin remained silent, simply transferring more and more spiritual essence and True Qi to her. Her eyes held compassion and pity.
She was an ant in the world, and Shen Yin was the female Bodhisattva who saved those in distress.
Yi Hu’s resolve to repay Shen Yin grew stronger.
Zi Ying leaned against the corner of the wall, wiping the dark green blood spilling from her mouth: “You’re back so fast! Shen Yin, you care about her so much. Could she really be your illegitimate daughter? I knew her blood smelled like yours!”
Shen Yin glared at Zi Ying: “What did you say?”
“You humans might not feel it, but we spiritual consciousnesses are very sensitive to these things. Her blood smells so good, just like yours.” Zi Ying greedily licked her lips, looking at Yi Hu in Shen Yin’s arms with yearning: “So fragrant, so fragrant. If I drink her dry, my cultivation will definitely increase greatly!”
“Put away your crooked thoughts.”
After reprimanding Zi Ying, Shen Yin looked at Yi Hu in her arms, a feeling of compassion growing: “Does it hurt?”
She didn’t know if it was an illusion, but she clearly felt that after Zi Ying said those words, Shen Yin’s attitude toward her became warmer, and her concern was obvious.
Could Shen Yin really have an illegitimate daughter?
Impossible. Although she hadn’t finished the book, she had read most of it, and there was no indication of Shen Yin having a daughter. The author wouldn’t write such an absurd plot.
Even if Shen Yin had an illegitimate daughter, she should be human. She was a demon.
Could she be a half-breed born to a demon? But she was a mayfly demon.
Perhaps it was because of the intense pain, but Yi Hu’s nerves were increasingly erratic, and she began to contemplate unfounded questions.
Shen Yin looked at the young girl whose wounds were gradually healing in her arms. Her delicate face showed pain, her lips were pale from excessive blood loss, and her forehead was covered in sweat. Shen Yin reached out and wiped the sweat from Yi Hu’s forehead. She paused for a moment, then let out a soft sigh.
She gently waved her left sleeve. Golden chains appeared out of thin air, wrapping around Zi Ying. Wisps of golden flame burned on the chains. Zi Ying let out cries of anguish: “Shen Yin! You’re actually burning me with spiritual fire! If you burn my spiritual consciousness, your divine artifact will be ruined!”
“You are useless to begin with.”
Indeed. Feng Lingyan took the Flowing Years Lamp wherever she went, yet Shen Yin simply left the semi-divine artifact in her room, letting it fend for itself.
In the book, Shen Yin also rarely used Zi Ying’s power. She even fought Feng Lingyan one-on-one. This suggested that she might be stronger than Feng Lingyan.
Shen Yin’s calm tone angered Zi Ying. She shouted heartbrokenly: “Shen Yin, you bastard! If you’ve got the guts, release me!”
Shen Yin waved her sleeve again, and the golden flames slowly dissipated. The chains also disappeared without a trace. Shen Yin’s brows were tightly furrowed: “I’ve released you. What can you do?”
“You!” Zi Ying couldn’t even win a verbal argument against Shen Yin. In a fit of pique, she transformed back into the purple whip and slowly floated back behind the screen.
Watching the scene before her, Yi Hu involuntarily let out a laugh. Shen Yin released her, and her weak body fell, half-kneeling on the ground. She looked up at Shen Yin, who was looking down at her: “It still doesn’t hurt, otherwise how could you laugh?”
It hurt! It hurt very much.
But seeing Shen Yin suppress Zi Ying, who had been arrogant toward her, to such an extent, she couldn’t help but want to point at Zi Ying and mock her, wondering where her earlier bravado had gone. Indeed, in this world, having strength is the only right to speak.
Yi Hu still couldn’t quite fathom Shen Yin’s true strength. She was too powerful. Although Zi Ying had many constraints placed on her, Shen Yin was able to suppress the semi-divine artifact Zi Ying to the point where it lost even the will to resist. Shen Yin’s role in the book was limited, and her strength was not clearly depicted. It only stated that she was powerful. Yi Hu’s concept of how powerful was not clear, as the book was essentially a romance story with a surface layer of fantasy.
“Immortal Master, she wants to eat me.” Yi Hu looked at Shen Yin pitifully. Her hand gently reached out and hugged Shen Yin’s leg. Yi Hu forgot that she still had her own fresh blood on her hand. When she hugged Shen Yin, two bloody handprints quickly appeared on Shen Yin’s cyan skirt. Her expression stiffened slightly, fearing Shen Yin would be angry.
Shen Yin acted as if she hadn’t seen the bloodstains. She reached out and touched Yi Hu’s head, her tone softer: “Don’t be afraid. No one will drink your blood.”
Those eyes were full of compassion, making Yi Hu believe even more that Shen Yin was the female Bodhisattva saving her from the sea of suffering.
But… she could clearly feel that Shen Yin’s attitude toward her had improved significantly because of Zi Ying’s tantrum. Unable to find the source or the reason, she could only obediently rub her head against Shen Yin’s palm, allowing Shen Yin to stroke her head better.
Shen Yin’s hand paused briefly, then stroked her head again. Her voice grew even gentler: “Hu’er.”
A strong intuition told her that Shen Yin seemed to be raising her as a pet.
That strange feeling didn’t last long. Shen Yin reached out and touched the jade pendant on her neck. Her index finger gently tapped it, and a wisp of golden light entered it. Yi Hu stared at the jade pendant, examining it closely. The pendant she had once thought was bizarre was now so warm and crystalline. A red light flowed through its center. She paused… suddenly remembering that the red might be her blood. She stiffly released the jade pendant.
“Immortal Master, what is this for?”
“I have voluntarily requested to leave the sect with Elder Feng to search for Shengsheng. On the way, I will find a suitable identity for you to bring back to the Immortal Spirit Sect.” Shen Yin paused, then added: “You fear the light. I have placed an array on the jade pendant. You must not lose it.”
Feng Lingyan is going on a long journey to find the female lead? Does that mean the main plot of the original book is about to begin?
She knew the female lead was in the Sea of Blood, but she couldn’t say so directly.
Is there any way to tell Shen Yin so they might save themselves some trouble?
But she’s still afraid of the light? She truly is an unlucky person.
Tomorrow, what kind of situation will tomorrow bring?
