The Cool and Aloof Immortal Master Has Fallen to the Demonic Path (Transmigration) - Chapter 17
Chapter 17
Before Yi Hu could successfully transform into a mayfly as she wished, the Spider Demon was already before her eyes.
However, the Spider Demon saw the Butterfly Demon in the blood pool first, not Yi Hu.
Tears, black as ink, rolled down the corners of her eyes. Even her tears were black. The inky color left no trace on her snowy white cheeks; instead, it made her face appear even paler and more pitiful.
She walked forward step by step, her eyes filled with remorse and tenderness.
Yi Hu watched as she walked closer and closer. Yi Hu was clearly standing right on the edge, yet the Spider Demon seemed to completely overlook her. She only saw the Butterfly Demon, her face full of tenderness mixed with sorrow.
Finally, she knelt down near the blood pool.
The sound of her knees hitting the ground startled Yi Hu.
But the Spider Demon felt no pain. Her crying voice was laced with hoarseness: “A’Ruan, I’m sorry, I’m sorry.”
So the Butterfly Demon was the A’Ruan she spoke of.
They truly were old acquaintances, intimately close.
“Little sister…” The Butterfly Demon hesitated to speak. She looked exactly like a wilting, delicate flower, a withered lotus with only a bare stem, still beautiful but irreparably broken.
Fresh cuts on her body were still bleeding, and the places where flesh had been dug out were particularly conspicuous, revealing some pale white bone. The blade that cut the Butterfly Demon’s flesh also pained the Spider Demon’s heart.
The Spider Demon’s remorse grew heavier. She knelt on the ground, repeatedly knocking her head against the floor until her forehead cracked and bled, yet she didn’t stop.
The Butterfly Demon looked distressed. She slowly lifted her arm, but as soon as she reached forward, she was bounced back by a beam of light. She could only manage a bitter smile.
She looked at Yi Hu, her eyes pleading: “Miss, can you help me lift her up?”
She was not only locked here by nails, but also had a restriction placed on her body.
Perhaps she was no longer a living, breathing entity. She was merely a lifeless object kept here for blood extraction and flesh consumption.
Yi Hu was somewhat afraid of the Spider Demon, but she couldn’t resist the Butterfly Demon’s plea.
Although she wasn’t strong, she felt compassion when facing a being weaker and more miserable than herself.
Yi Hu stepped forward and stopped the repeatedly kowtowing Spider Demon. She held the Spider Demon’s arm: “You, you should get up. Kneeling to death here is useless.”
The Spider Demon’s gaze was constantly fixed on the Butterfly Demon. Only now did she clearly see Yi Hu. She was momentarily stunned upon seeing Yi Hu, which quickly turned into surprise: “It’s you!”
Yi Hu was frightened and released her grip. She thought the Spider Demon was about to attack her and quickly reached for the long whip hanging on her. She only hoped Zi Ying would lend a helping hand at the crucial moment. However, she didn’t expect the Spider Demon, in front of the Butterfly Demon, to no longer be so menacing. She took two steps toward Yi Hu, her gaze persistent and firm, without any hint of murderous intent. Still, it made Yi Hu feel uneasy.
“Zi Ying, Zi Ying!” She called twice, but Zi Ying did not respond.
The Spider Demon had already reached her. She grasped Yi Hu’s shoulders: “Please, I beg you, replace her.”
Yi Hu was startled by her words and didn’t understand her meaning.
The Butterfly Demon quickly admonished her: “Little sister, don’t you understand? Even if you find more Vessel Bodies to offer him, he won’t let me go. He will only eat me completely sooner.”
“I understand, I understand.” The Spider Demon let go of Yi Hu in disappointment, slowly collapsing against Yi Hu, as light as a sheet of paper.
She lay on the ground, curling up: “But I can’t defeat him. I can’t save you. I can only obey obediently. Maybe, just maybe, if he gets many, many Vessel Bodies, he will let you go. Or…”
The Spider Demon did not continue speaking. She slightly lifted her eyelids and looked at Yi Hu.
Yi Hu met her gaze, feeling like she had fallen into an ice cave.
In those hollow, pitch-black eyes, it was as if a vortex was etched into the bottom of her eyes, waiting to draw her in.
She will be devoured, absolutely.
Yi Hu found the Spider Demon somewhat terrifying. She moved to back away. The Butterfly Demon noticed her fear but said nothing, lightly glancing at the Spider Demon lying on the ground.
Then she looked at Yi Hu, who was still startled, and apologized: “Miss, I’m sorry. She was just momentarily confused.”
Actually, she didn’t need to apologize. Yi Hu was frightened by the Spider Demon, not the Butterfly Demon.
Conversely, she didn’t find the Butterfly Demon terrifying. She thought she was a very gentle demon. Even in the face of endless torture, she remained calm and composed, not manipulated into madness by the pain.
Yi Hu was about to say a few comforting words when the Spider Demon suddenly jumped up. She pinned Yi Hu against the wall: “I am not confused! In twenty years, I have only found this one Vessel Body.”
She screamed the words hysterically. Although her gaze was fixed on Yi Hu, her words were directed at the Butterfly Demon.
Yi Hu felt that the hands grasping her arms were like iron clamps, pinching her arms painfully. She felt like her bones would shatter in the next instant.
At such a close distance, her completely black eyes, with only faint white in the corner, and the black liquid dripping down, became increasingly bizarre. The blood in Yi Hu’s body flowed rapidly—a fear of danger approaching.
She was somewhat panicked. She felt that the Spider Demon’s gaze didn’t seem to want to use her to replace the Butterfly Demon; instead, it seemed like she wanted to eat her.
To devour her alive, leaving no chance of survival.
“Zi, Zi Ying…” She nervously called Zi Ying’s name. Suddenly, the purple whip hanging on her emitted a dazzling light. As the purple light shone brightly, she instantly transformed into her mayfly form, escaping the Spider Demon’s grasp. The next moment, the whip materialized into its human form behind her.
The Spider Demon turned around, grinding her teeth: “That trick again.”
The Spider Demon rushed toward Yi Hu again. Zi Ying quickly shouted: “If you keep causing trouble like this, we’ll all die together.”
She didn’t want to implicate an innocent, but the Spider Demon was sure she wouldn’t act rashly. She still rushed toward Yi Hu. She said: “You pity her, but who pities us!”
Before she could get close, the purple whip suddenly flew into the air and struck toward the Spider Demon. The Karma Fire surrounding the whip was more intense. Every time the purple whip struck, the Karma Fire would follow suit, landing on the Spider Demon’s body and burning a patch of her clothing and skin. Yi Hu watched the Karma Fire ignite on her snowy white skin. This was Shen Yin protecting her.
The Karma Fire had a natural suppressive effect on evil spirits and demons, and Zi Ying herself was a half-divine weapon. The Spider Demon was struck without any ability to fight back, constantly dodging.
The Butterfly Demon couldn’t bear to watch. Her variegated pupils looked toward Yi Hu: “Miss, please spare my little sister.”
She understood that Zi Ying was the dangerous one, but pleading with Zi Ying was useless.
She spoke up. Yi Hu still felt some goodwill and pity for her, so she also spoke to stop Zi Ying.
“Stop fighting.”
Zi Ying’s voice sounded: “Let me play a little longer. Shen Yin usually only burns me with the Karma Fire. This is the first time I’ve seen her use it to burn another demon.”
She looked mature and steady, voluptuous and graceful, yet at this moment, she showed a childlike side.
Yi Hu felt that this evil spirit was not entirely evil, but she definitely disliked Shen Yin.
Zi Ying didn’t play for much longer. The Spider Demon’s snowy white skin already had charred marks. Zi Ying transformed into her ethereal spiritual entity form. With a wave of her long sleeve, the Spider Demon was lifted and thrown heavily into the blood pool.
She laughed twice: “If you drink her blood, your injuries will heal.”
Yi Hu looked at Zi Ying in disbelief. She actually had such a malicious sense of humor at this moment.
She was making the Spider Demon drink the Butterfly Demon’s blood. They were old acquaintances and seemed to be very close.
How could this be?
Yi Hu didn’t believe the Spider Demon could drink the Butterfly Demon’s blood, but the Spider Demon stood firm in the blood pool and slowly approached the Butterfly Demon.
Yi Hu’s heart leaped to her throat: “Don’t listen to her! Aren’t you friends?”
Zi Ying chuckled coldly: “Sentiment can’t be exchanged for cultivation.”
She watched coldly. Yi Hu was burning with anxiety.
The Butterfly Demon herself was calm and composed. She didn’t seem worried at all that the Spider Demon would drink her blood.
The Spider Demon stopped in front of her, slowly embracing her. Her teeth rested against the back of her neck, but she didn’t bite down.
She scoffed: “I can’t bear to harm A’Ruan.”
The Spider Demon released the Butterfly Demon. Her palm slowly touched the Butterfly Demon’s cheek. She looked into her variegated pupils: “A’Ruan, you pity her, but who pities you?”
“I am already prey. Why drag others to the same fate.”
As she spoke, the Spider Demon no longer insisted.
The Spider Demon climbed out of the blood pool. Her dress was already soaked with blood water. The colors on her body—red, black, and white—were strangely mixed. Yi Hu instinctively took a step back. She was still somewhat afraid of this Spider Demon.
The Spider Demon’s smile suddenly became gentle. She said softly: “A’Ruan is unwilling, so I will not do it.”
Her attitude changed too quickly. Yi Hu couldn’t believe that this smile was truly devoid of killing intent. She still kept her distance from the Spider Demon.
Just then, a faint black mark flashed on the Spider Demon’s forehead. She touched her forehead and said to the Butterfly Demon: “Ku Mu is calling for me. I’ll leave first.”
Ku Mu was probably the name of that Daoist.
The Butterfly Demon nodded gently. The Spider Demon then started to walk out. As she left the prison where the Butterfly Demon was confined, she turned back and said to Yi Hu: “Miss, the human cultivator you are traveling with has encountered trouble. She broke the Affectionate Inducement Array but entered the Inner Demon Array. That is much harder to break than the Affectionate Inducement Array.”
After speaking, she turned around, a smile gradually forming on her lips.
Yi Hu was immediately concerned and anxious.
Hearing that Shen Yin was in trouble, she was naturally worried. Almost the moment the Spider Demon’s words fell, she was about to run out, but Zi Ying blocked her path.
Zi Ying stared at the retreating back of the Spider Demon: “The blood in this pool seems to have lessened.”
Yi Hu looked into the blood pool. The already very concentrated blood water was indeed much lighter in color, and the water level seemed to have dropped slightly.
The Butterfly Demon’s pupils constricted abruptly, and she silently lowered her eyes.
Zi Ying suddenly transformed into the purple whip and flew toward the Butterfly Demon. As soon as she approached the Butterfly Demon, a light wall suddenly appeared to block her. The purple whip struck the light wall forcefully. The Karma Fire began to burn along the light, and just as the Karma Fire was about to reach the Butterfly Demon, it slowly dissipated.
The purple whip struck out again, and a deeper layer of light wall emerged.
Zi Ying scoffed coldly: “You are sealed by the array. I can’t even get close to you, yet she was able to hug you.”
The Butterfly Demon looked up, her face showing some embarrassment.
Zi Ying seemed displeased, and her strikes became heavier.
With a “Boom!” sound, the light wall collapsed. The top of the beam holding the Butterfly Demon’s hair made a harsh sound. The purple whip struck the black hair, severing it. A burst of black light emerged from beneath her body, which slowly dissipated. Once the black light completely vanished, the iron nails pinning the Butterfly Demon’s collarbone and legs actually began to slowly fall out.
Zi Ying once again transformed into her spiritual entity form. She and Yi Hu watched the Butterfly Demon who was issuing painful wails.
Zi Ying said coldly: “This array was also set up by him personally. Once the array is broken, the array setter will be severely injured. This is much faster than you going to find Shen Yin now.”
Yi Hu was momentarily unable to tell if she was good or bad.
She was actually helping Shen Yin.
Yi Hu looked at Zi Ying, hesitant to speak.
Zi Ying preemptively interrupted the words of gratitude she was about to say: “If she dies in someone else’s hands, I will be sealed for a hundred years.”
Yi Hu almost forgot that once a half-divine weapon recognizes its owner, if the owner dies, the spiritual consciousness of the half-divine weapon will be sealed for a hundred years, waiting to be awakened by a new owner. Of course, if the spiritual entity devours its owner, the spiritual consciousness will not be sealed.
Perhaps Zi Ying didn’t hate Shen Yin as much as she seemed.
She thought about devouring her owner every day, perhaps just because she wanted freedom. After all, she was different from other spiritual entities. She was an evil spirit that devoured a spiritual entity to become a half-divine weapon’s spiritual entity. The evil spirit’s former self was a soul, and the soul’s former self was a human.
She, too, was once a free human.
Yi Hu’s thoughts strayed further and further. The iron nails on the Butterfly Demon had completely fallen off. All her bones were broken. Only her hands could move, and she was entirely supported by the iron nails. Now that the iron nails were completely removed, she lost her support and slid toward the bottom of the blood pool.
“Oh no.” Yi Hu quickly jumped into the blood pool and pulled the Butterfly Demon out.
She was once again covered in a bloody stench.
She increasingly didn’t understand what was so delicious or tempting about flesh and blood. This smell was so offensive and nauseating.
She felt sick even without consuming it.
After slowly recovering, Yi Hu quickly checked the Butterfly Demon’s condition: “Are you alright?”
The Butterfly Demon’s eyes were hollow and lifeless as she stared upwards. She had no bones to support her body. She lay on the ground, her body barely maintaining a normal shape. Her pair of variegated wings were completely covered in blood, losing their original beauty.
Her variegated pupils slowly focused, and her gaze gradually settled on Yi Hu’s face.
“Miss, are you willing to hear my story?”
