The Cool and Aloof Immortal Master Has Fallen to the Demonic Path (Transmigration) - Chapter 11
Chapter 11
In the time it took to speak, Shen Yin had already arrived downstairs.
Her eyes immediately fell upon the extremely conspicuous Si Furou. At this moment, she was impaled and hung upon a wooden pillar by a long sword, her face pale and bruised, her lips colorless, looking utterly traumatized. The wooden pillar behind her was full of scratches, seemingly from a sharp weapon, and her silk dress was torn to shreds, having lost the bright allure she possessed upon first entering the Urn City. Her dark hair was messy, and a few white pieces of fabric had fallen to the ground, not quite exposing her person, but still leaving her utterly wretched.
Shen Yin took two quick steps forward before realizing with a start that the long sword was actually condensed from spider silk. Circles of spider silk had converged to form a hardened long sword. The sharper part of the blade still flickered with a metallic sheen, indicating that Si Furou had offended a powerful demon.
The inn was still a scene of hustle and bustle. With a person hanging on the wooden pillar, the patrons were utterly indifferent, drinking and eating as if they couldn’t see Si Furou at all.
Urn City was just such a place. No one would meddle in others’ affairs, and no one would get involved, unless an interest was at stake.
They didn’t care about Si Furou’s life or death. One could even say that many who came to Urn City didn’t care about their own lives or deaths.
Si Furou was also fully aware of Urn City’s rules. Although fear arose in her heart, she did not cry out for help.
Only upon seeing Shen Yin did she dare to reveal her resentment, tears rolling down from the corners of her eyes: “Senior Sister Yin!”
Shen Yin calmly drew the long sword from her back and pointed it at the sword formed by the spider silk. The sword tip slightly indicated as a beam of golden light flew out and struck the spider silk sword. Not only did it fail to cut the silk, but the spider silk became even harder upon contact with the golden light. The blade emitted bursts of white light and strands of spider silk surged towards Shen Yin. The threads were as fine as hair, and a faint dark energy hidden beneath the white light rushed toward Shen Yin.
Shen Yin threw her long sword. The sword spun rapidly, brandishing arcs of light that cut down all the spider silk, and the dark energy also vanished without a trace.
Shen Yin put her hand behind her back and spat out a long nail from her lips, which precisely struck the spider silk sword. The spider silk instantly collapsed and shattered, turning into fine, short threads that fell to the ground. Si Furou also tumbled down. She rubbed her bruised arm, looking at Shen Yin with hesitation.
A cluster of dark energy faintly gathered between her brows. Shen Yin frowned: “You’ve been poisoned?”
Si Furou then nodded lightly: “Senior Sister Yin, I didn’t provoke her. That demon asked me about my sect. Before I could even report my sect, she attacked. I didn’t even realize why?”
“You…”
“The young lady should not blame your junior sister. This spider has a notorious reputation in Urn City. She specializes in capturing beautiful women passing through here. Three female disciples of my sect have already gone missing here. Why don’t you and I join forces to eliminate the spider? It would also be a way to obtain the antidote for your junior sister.” Before Shen Yin could utter a word of reproach, an impertinent person interrupted her.
Shen Yin glanced backward. The speaker was a burly man with a full beard. His shirt was only half-worn, leaving one shoulder exposed. Two strings of black beads hung from his wrist, and a wine gourd hung from his waist. His gaze, however, was quite spirited, and he looked like a righteous person.
It was just that Shen Yin did not easily trust people.
She reached out and pulled Si Furou up, replying to the big man with a single word: “No need.”
Shen Yin held Si Furou’s index finger. A gentle scratch with her fingertip cut the skin on the pad of her finger, letting out two drops of bright red blood. Si Furou cried out in pain, but Shen Yin ignored her. She reached out and lightly tapped Si Furou’s forearm twice. When fresh blood surged out again, it was a drop of dark, reddish-black blood. It did not fall but hovered in mid-air. Shen Yin gently stroked the area again, and the small wound vanished without a trace. She reached into her sleeve, pulled out a translucent stone, and caught the drop of blood. The stone suddenly glowed red, projecting a beam of red light toward the east.
However, for some unknown reason, Shen Yin’s fingertips had faint greenish traces that looked a little sticky.
Before anyone could see clearly, Shen Yin had already grabbed Si Furou and leaped out of the inn. The big man who had just spoken to her raised his arms and shouted: “That’s the Immortal Spirit Sect’s Guiding Method! All who have a grudge against that spider, follow them! She can lead us to the demon’s hiding place!”
As soon as his voice fell, the people in the inn who were still eating and drinking all turned into dots of white light and disappeared from the inn, chasing after Shen Yin.
The waiter, still holding the drinks, looked helplessly at his manager in the empty inn. The manager, witnessing the scene, leisurely shook his head: “Don’t bother with the work yet. Someone in Urn City is about to have bad luck.”
Shen Yin vanished after being followed into an alley.
Both she and Si Furou disappeared from sight, leaving those who followed them like headless flies, milling about everywhere.
Si Furou was confused: “Senior Sister Yin, since those people all have a grudge against that spider demon, why not bring them along for help?”
“How do you know that none of them are trying to fish in troubled waters for some benefit?” Shen Yin glanced at her lightly, dropped her in the corner of the alley, placed two spirit stones to form a half-circle boundary, and fed Si Furou a pill. Only then did she say coolly: “You don’t need to come. Wait for me here. The array will protect you. If you leave the circle and lose your life, your master won’t be able to blame me.”
Having settled Si Furou, she once again chased after the red light. When she was completely out of Si Furou’s sight, she found a secluded, empty place. She flicked her long sleeve, and the light mayfly flew out from her sleeve, landed on the ground, and transformed into a beautiful woman’s appearance. She rolled twice on the ground before steadying herself. She covered her bruised arm. There was a faint green on the pads of her fingers, identical to the trace on Shen Yin’s fingers.
Shen Yin’s expression was cold. She glared at Yi Hu: “You explain to me why the juice of the Spirit Fruit flowed out.”
Yi Hu scratched her head, looking a little embarrassed: “I… Immortal Master… I, didn’t you say that eating the Spirit Fruit would cause spiritual energy to enter the body? I clearly watched it go in, but it disappeared instantly. I… I just wanted to see where the spiritual energy went? Is it possible it was stolen by another Spirit Fruit…”
She finished speaking, carefully glancing at Shen Yin.
Shen Yin was slightly stunned. After a while, she asked: “So you crushed the Spirit Fruit?” Given the special nature of the Spirit Fruit, if it were swallowed in small bites, no juice would flow out. This was why Shen Yin allowed Yi Hu to eat the fruit in her sleeve. The only explanation for the juice flowing out now was that Yi Hu had crushed the Spirit Fruit into fragments.
“More accurately, I stepped on it,” Yi Hu demonstrated her recent actions to Shen Yin while still on the ground. She was only in her mayfly form earlier. Her two front claws could not crush the Spirit Fruit at all. She used both hands and feet to crush the fruit.
She was honest, not even trying to make excuses for herself.
Shen Yin watched her, in her human form, stick her butt high in the air, imitating the mayfly posture to show how she had crushed the Spirit Fruit. She actually found it somewhat amusing. When she smiled, her beautiful eyes were even more sparkling, and the flowing radiance carried a certain charm that was inconsistent with her usual demeanor.
Yi Hu stared blankly for a while. Seeing Shen Yin relax slightly, she immediately scooted forward and hugged Shen Yin’s leg: “Immortal Master, I just learned how to draw spiritual energy into my body. That tiny bit of spiritual energy is very important to me. I also want to grow up quickly and not always be a burden to you. Didn’t you feed me the Spirit Fruit because you wanted me to grow up quickly?”
Wrong. She fed Yi Hu the fruit simply because the Spirit Fruit was sweet. She saw that Si Furou liked it and thought Yi Hu, also a young girl, would like it too.
Her sudden whim had caused a misunderstanding.
“Didn’t I tell you that not being able to retain external spiritual energy is a good thing?”
This was the strangest part. Shen Yin seemed to know from the beginning that she couldn’t retain spiritual energy. Yi Hu looked up at Shen Yin: “How did Immortal Master know I couldn’t retain spiritual energy?”
Shen Yin lowered her eyes to meet her gaze, finally letting out a long sigh. She bent down slightly and gently touched the center of Yi Hu’s brows with her index finger: “Hu-er, you have no shortcuts on the path of cultivation. Others may be able to break through with the help of elixirs and spiritual medicines, but you cannot. You must rely on yourself.”
Yi Hu was only partially comprehending. She hadn’t finished reading the book, and many of the settings were incomplete in her understanding. Could there be a setting she didn’t know about? The book clearly stated that almost everyone relied on elixirs and spiritual medicines during their bottleneck periods… Was she so unlucky? Was there no possibility of rapidly advancing even with the help of the items of this world?
“Just remember what I said. Don’t be too fixated on external spiritual energy. Get up. We still need to find the antidote for Si Furou.”
“Are you taking me with you, Immortal Master?” Yi Hu had seen her confine Si Furou within the array, and thought she had released her only to discard her into the array as well, to have one less burden.
“If you don’t want to go, waiting here is fine too,” Shen Yin said thoughtfully.
Before she could set up an array for Yi Hu, Yi Hu had already consciously gotten up and reached out to lift Shen Yin’s sleeve.
Shen Yin’s cuff was lifted, revealing a section of her fair, soft arm, faintly surrounded by an ethereal glow. There were also some light green marks on it. Yi Hu was slightly ashamed, apologizing for her actions. She should have known better than to step on that fruit. Curiosity killed the cat.
This was the second set of Shen Yin’s clothes she had stained… Last time, it was a bloodstain on her blue robe.
Shen Yin’s sleeve was lifted by her. Her eyelashes drooped, casting shadows: “What are you doing?”
Seeing Shen Yin’s expression was off and her tone was a little colder, Yi Hu couldn’t help but wonder if she had done something wrong again. Her reply was stuttered: “Go, go in.”
Shen Yin gently pushed her hand away, tightening her cuff. That section of her arm was once again hidden within the wide sleeve. She said faintly: “Elder Feng is not here at the moment.”
That means she doesn’t need to stay in the sleeve now.
Thinking of this, Yi Hu felt a bit disappointed. She had been quite comfortable and happy traveling without her feet touching the ground. She wanted to ask Shen Yin if she could lie or crouch in her sleeve again, but the words were hard to utter.
The back of her collar was grabbed by Shen Yin. She was instantly lifted into the air. There was a difference between looking down while hidden in the sleeve and being carried and looking down.
Yi Hu glanced downward. The Urn City’s scenery, seen through the misty clouds, was blurry and spinning. Her neck felt like it was about to separate from her body. Yi Hu hastily closed her eyes, only to feel the strong wind rushing past, as if it would blow off her ears. She hastily opened her eyes again, and the head-body separation feeling returned. She was neither comfortable closing her eyes nor opening them.
Finally, Shen Yin slowed down. She heard her gentle voice: “We’re here.”
