Do You Like Me?
The warmth inside the house gradually increased. Mo Zhu pressed a kiss against Ji Shubai’s flushed cheek and reached out to unbutton her coat.
However, she remembered Ji Shubai’s minor obsession with cleanliness, so she asked, “Do you want to shower first?”
Ji Shubai seemed to be struggling to control her breathing. She gave an extremely soft “Mm.”
Mo Zhu released her, stepping aside to give her room to head toward the bedroom.
Ji Shubai leaned against the wall for a moment to steady herself, then propped a hand against the wall to stand straight and walked toward the master bedroom.
Mo Zhu followed her. Once inside the room, she shut the door behind them.
When Ji Shubai entered the bathroom, she realized Mo Zhu had followed her in as well.
Mo Zhu was already unbuttoning her shirt. Her eyes, fixed on Ji Shubai, were heavy with a thick, undeniable desire. “Can we go together?”
Ji Shubai averted her gaze slightly and gave a quiet, consenting reply.
Inside the bathroom.
The steady pitter-patter of the shower combined with the rising steam, casting a soft, hazy veil over the warm yellow lights on the ceiling.
Mo Zhu reached out to wipe the water droplets from Ji Shubai’s face. The other woman’s long, curled lashes were damp with mist, appearing even darker and more brilliant than usual.
Ji Shubai’s long hair was loosely pinned up, but a few wet stray hairs had escaped, clinging to the curve of her cheek in a way that was undeniably alluring.
Mo Zhu couldn’t resist leaning in to kiss her cheek, the sensation of cool water and warm skin mingling against her lips.
She reached up to find Ji Shubai’s soft earlobe, kneading it slowly as if playing with a fascinating toy.
Under her fingertips, the earlobe grew flushed and hot. Eventually, she took it into her mouth, her teeth grazing and grinding against it with meticulous care.
Ji Shubai’s hand, resting on Mo Zhu’s shoulder, tightened instinctively. She closed her eyes and leaned into the other woman’s body.
A soft tongue traced the curve of her ear, licking and teasing upward.
Ji Shubai forced herself not to pull away, but a numbing, electric tingle spread from her ear down through half of her body.
Mo Zhu gripped her bare waist, her touch moving upward against the slow flow of the water.
She finally released Ji Shubai’s ear, moving her attention slowly downward.
“Don’t leave any marks,” Ji Shubai panted out.
Mo Zhu nipped lightly at her neck, asking patiently, “I can’t leave them here, but is a place no one can see alright?”
Ji Shubai was in no state to wonder what qualified as a “place no one can see.” Her body was shivering slightly under the touch.
“Is it alright, Miss Ji?” Mo Zhu pressed her for an answer, brushing the hair away from her face to kiss her jaw and the corner of her mouth.
The hand on her waist moved to her back, tracing the line of her spine with slow, deliberate strokes.
Under Mo Zhu’s persistent questioning, Ji Shubai finally gave a slight nod, offering her answer.
The showerhead, set to its lowest pressure, continued to rain down on them, soaking their bodies and hair.
A light mist slowly accumulated, eventually coating the transparent glass partitions.
Mo Zhu embraced Ji Shubai’s soft, slender waist, her cheek rubbing against her back.
Ji Shubai’s beautiful face was already flushed red from the heat. She rested her forehead against the misted, water-streaked glass. The friction between her skin and the glass created a soft, rhythmic squeaking sound.
The warm water flowed over them, seemingly washing away the lingering hesitation between them.
Mo Zhu gripped the back of her neck, trailing kisses slowly along the nape.
Ji Shubai’s tightly shut lashes trembled violently, and the whimpers in her throat were captured within Mo Zhu’s palm.
The corners of Mo Zhu’s eyes were tinged with a faint red, her brow heavy with a possessiveness that was almost overflowing.
She held the woman tight, catching Ji Shubai’s waist just as she was about to lose her footing.
Ji Shubai propped her hand against the glass, but it was soon covered and held fast by a wetter hand, their fingers intertwining.
Much later, the showerhead was finally turned off. The hazy mist on the glass had already condensed into heavy droplets.
Mo Zhu carried her out of the bathroom and placed her on the bed.
Exhausted, Ji Shubai lay on the dark sheets with her eyes half-closed, her damp hair leaving dark water marks on the fabric.
Mo Zhu crawled across the bed, hovering over her to kiss her.
A soft body, soft lips—the sheer comfort of it made her let out a low sigh.
Ji Shubai opened her eyes to look at the Mo Zhu above her. Her fingers traced Mo Zhu’s brow. In a gap between kisses, she asked, “Do you like me?”
Mo Zhu allowed the touch, but when she met those shimmering, watery eyes, she seemed to evade them, pressing her face against Ji’s neck. “I do.”
Ji Shubai frowned with a restless intensity. After a while, she asked tremulously, “Do you like me very much?”
Mo Zhu closed her eyes. “Yes. I like Miss Ji very much.”
After she spoke, she felt a soft kiss land on the side of her neck.
Mo Zhu froze. She lifted her head to look at the woman beneath her. That normally cold face was now steeped in crimson, and her eyes, glittering with a watery light, were slightly dazed and unfocused.
Mo Zhu felt a momentary ringing in her ears. Aside from Ji Shubai’s soft moans and movements, she could hear nothing else.
She felt… she felt… she didn’t even know what to think.
Mo Zhu could only hold her tighter, listening to the sounds the other woman couldn’t help but let out, realizing she wanted even more.
Compared to their first time, this encounter felt much more harmonious thanks to Ji Shubai’s active cooperation.
However, the price of their indulgence was Ji Shubai’s throat, which felt like it was on fire the next day.
Mo Zhu sat nearby, using her phone to look up which ingredients were best for soothing a throat. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Ji Shubai finish her water and naturally took the glass from her.
“Want more?”
Ji Shubai shook her head.
“What do you want for lunch?” Mo Zhu asked.
Ji Shubai cleared her throat. “You decide.”
She threw back the quilt to get out of bed, but the moment she tried to stand, her expression shifted. She stiffened and slowly sat back down.
“What’s wrong, Miss Ji? Are you uncomfortable?”
The prideful Miss Ji pursed her lips. “I’m fine.”
“I’m sorry, Miss Ji. I suppose I was a bit reckless yesterday.” Mo Zhu was apologizing one second and shifting the blame the next. “But you can’t entirely blame me. You were clinging to me for half the time.”
Ji Shubai’s face turned red at the comment. A flash of indignant annoyance crossed her eyes. “Get out. I want to keep resting.”
With that, she turned her back to Mo Zhu and lay down on her side.
Sitting on the edge of the bed, Mo Zhu watched her back. She stood up with the glass. “Then sleep a little longer. I’m not going to the office today; just call me if you need anything.”
She waited for a moment until Ji Shubai gave a muffled reply before she left the room.
Outside the bedroom, Mo Zhu washed the glass and put it away, then prepared to feed the cat some treats.
“Xiao Ta, come here.”
Host, were you calling for me? Is there something you need?
Mo Zhu told it heartlessly, “I wasn’t calling you.”
The kitten curled in the corner ran over the moment it heard the crinkle of the treat bag. It let out a soft meow in front of Mo Zhu as if urging her.
The system Xiao Ta let out a dejected sigh. I’ve detected this morning that the female lead’s favorability has stabilized. Would you like to check it now?
Mo Zhu’s hand paused on the treat bag, and the smile on her lips gradually faded. The kitten, having finished its treat, looked up at her and meowed twice. She pulled out another treat for the cat.
“No,” she said flatly.
Why? Weren’t you in a hurry to check it yesterday? Besides, if you don’t check now, how will you know if your plan worked? There was a thick sense of confusion in Xiao Ta’s voice.
Mo Zhu stopped feeding the cat.
Did it work?
The scenes of Ji Shubai’s initiative last night were seared into her mind, impossible to erase. The answer was glaringly obvious.
“I said no, and that’s that. Don’t ask so many questions,” Mo Zhu said lazily.
Did something happen last night? Are you afraid to see the favorability decrease?
The system could read general events that happened at night, but it had no access to private segments. Therefore, it didn’t know exactly what had happened.
“No.”
Then you couldn’t possibly be afraid that the favorability has increased, could you?
Mo Zhu met the system’s question with silence, and Xiao Ta followed suit.
“How much more of the plot is left?”
There aren’t many plot points left! Currently, we’ve luckily avoided all the events that would make the female lead hate you. Now, we just need to successfully survive the major plot point where she discovers your contract was a lie and a game. Then we’ll be successful.
What you need to do now is work hard to grind enough favorability during this period.
Mo Zhu’s response was lackadaisical. “I know what I’m doing.”
After her talk with her mentor that day, Ji Shubai ultimately decided to return to her studies. Her mentor was a huge supporter of the move, and even her opinion of Mo Zhu had improved.
In the following period, Ji Shubai began a routine of traveling between home and campus.
As for Ji’s mother, Mo Zhu helped her find a legal team to re-examine the existing evidence and search for new grounds for an appeal.
Regarding Ji Shubai’s studio, she officially withdrew, receiving the portion of the funds that belonged to her.
She wanted to handle her current priorities first before reconsidering the studio’s future.
Everything seemed to be on the right track.
The weather grew colder, and a reinstated Ji Shubai became almost busier than Mo Zhu.
She had to prepare her portfolio while also completing the freelance commissions Mo Zhu had introduced to her. The time left for the two of them to spend together was meager.
Perhaps because of this, Ji Shubai felt that Mo Zhu had been acting a bit strange lately.
Occasionally, Mo Zhu wouldn’t act as close as she used to. Ji Shubai wondered if she had grown distant because she was too busy, causing Mo Zhu to be upset.
She stared blankly at her sketches for a while before deciding to head home early today.
As she was packing her things, she received a message from Mo Zhu saying she had something to handle tonight and might not come home.
The excitement of going back home instantly vanished. She pulled her things back out and continued drawing.
During this time, a younger student entered the studio—likely from a different major. After drawing for a bit, she sat in the corner and began scrolling through her phone, playing videos out loud.
Ji Shubai endured it for a while, but seeing that the other girl had no intention of stopping, she stood up and walked over.
The student had just opened a video on her social feed. It appeared to be a brightly lit nightclub, with all sorts of people cheering in a booth, set against a backdrop of chaotic, loud music.
Ji Shubai frowned, intending to tell her to turn it off, but then she saw a familiar face in the video.
It was the person who had claimed they were busy and couldn’t come home.
