- Chapter 45 - Yanyan, So Skilled at Flirting
By evening, after a full day of filming the variety show, everyone was a bit tired.
Listening to the sound of running water coming from the bathroom, Bo Zhoucheng felt a sense of calm. Just as she was about to pull out a script to review, her phone rang again. Without hesitation, she answered.
Her agent’s voice came through the receiver, sounding quite pleased.
“Zhoucheng, the news has been suppressed.”
Unless someone deliberately searched for it, it would be impossible to find.
Bo Zhoucheng nodded, satisfied with the efficiency.
“What are your plans next?”
The agent asked again. Although she was Bo Zhoucheng’s agent on paper, the final decisions always rested with Bo Zhoucheng herself.
“I want to go public with Xu Youyan.”
The agent, who had just worked hard to suppress the trending topic, was puzzled.
“Why? If you were planning to go public, why hide it in the first place?”
The agent couldn’t understand. If they were going public, shouldn’t they capitalize on the current buzz?
“It’s different.”
“There’s a difference between taking the initiative and having your privacy exposed by others.”
Bo Zhoucheng’s tone carried a hint of seriousness, and the agent fell silent. If Bo Zhoucheng had made up her mind, there was no stopping her.
“Will it be on Weibo?”
Bo Zhoucheng thought for a moment and felt that social media was a valid way to make the announcement.
“Sure, pick an auspicious day.”
The person on the other end of the line sounded gentle again, but this time, the agent was speechless.
Who picks an auspicious day to post a relationship announcement on Weibo?
It’s not like they’re getting married.
“But this matter still needs to wait. I haven’t discussed it with Yanyan yet.”
The agent grew even more exasperated. It was like Bo Zhoucheng was already sneaking in cement and steel before the building permit had even been approved.
As their conversation ended, there was a sound from the door.
Bo Zhoucheng turned around to see Xu Youyan wrapped in a bathrobe. The robe wasn’t fastened properly, and the curves of her collarbone and neckline invited imagination.
“Yanyan, don’t be like this.”
She stepped forward to adjust the bathrobe properly. Bo Zhoucheng’s eyes darkened, her heart already struggling to restrain itself.
“Don’t be like what?”
To her surprise, Xu Youyan fearlessly took a step or two closer, tilting her head and exhaling softly, her voice laced with temptation as it brushed against Bo Zhoucheng’s ear.
“Dressing like this could make you catch a cold.”
Bo Zhoucheng’s ears turned red a rare sight and her voice trembled slightly, betraying her unsettled emotions.
“Really? But the room has heating.”
Xu Youyan shrugged, then suddenly seemed to remember something.
She reached out, placing her fingers on Bo Zhoucheng’s shoulders, her tone teasing.
“Bo Zhoucheng, are you thinking about something you shouldn’t be?”
“Are you thinking that I must be trying to seduce you like this?”
Her soft voice was like a blend of cotton candy and honey. Bo Zhoucheng clenched her fingers tightly, her knuckles turning white.
The old Xu Youyan would never have used such flirtatious tactics. How did this version of her become so skilled at it?
It was making it hard for Bo Zhoucheng to control herself.
“I’m not.”
Bo Zhoucheng’s ears flushed red, and she instinctively took a step or two back, almost too afraid to look at Xu Youyan.
“Your eyes are wandering you’re feeling guilty.”
Xu Youyan poked Bo Zhoucheng’s nose with her finger, feeling immensely pleased to see her so flustered.
The usually aloof and dignified Bo Zhoucheng could actually be this shy a sight rarely seen by ordinary people.
“I’m going to wash up.”
Afraid that staying any longer might lead to something inappropriate, Bo Zhoucheng fled to the bathroom as if escaping.
This time, her shower took longer than usual, mainly because her mind was unsettled.
When she emerged, her entire body carried a faint, lingering warmth.
Xu Youyan was already lying on the bed, idly scrolling through her tablet. Her fans had sent her many private messages, but she didn’t dare read a single one.
Everyone was asking when she had started dating, while some fans questioned why she had chosen to be in a relationship at all, especially when her career was still on the rise.
Xu Youyan could only sigh helplessly. What rising career? If it weren’t for Bo Zhoucheng’s help, she would probably struggle even to transition into new roles.
After drying her hair, Bo Zhoucheng lay down on the bed and, with a slight turn of her head, caught sight of the harsh, lengthy private messages. She instinctively furrowed her brow and reached over to take the tablet.
“What are you doing?”
Xu Youyan reached out to snatch it back, but Bo Zhoucheng raised her arm high, keeping the tablet just out of reach.
“Don’t read things like this they’ll only upset you.”
Words could be the sharpest weapons, and Bo Zhoucheng didn’t want Xu Youyan to be hurt again.
“I was just checking my fans’ messages.”
Xu Youyan shifted closer, stretching her arm to grab the tablet, but her reach was no match for Bo Zhoucheng’s. No matter how far or straight she stretched, she couldn’t get it.
“Bo Zhoucheng, you’re bullying me!”
Giving up on retrieving the tablet, Xu Youyan lowered her head and looked at Bo Zhoucheng, her eyes glistening with unshed tears. It was bad enough that her fans were criticizing her, but now even Bo Zhoucheng was opposing her.
“Be good, let’s not look at these.”
Bo Zhoucheng placed the tablet on the nightstand and wrapped her arm around Xu Youyan’s slender waist.
“Reading these will only make you more troubled.”
“Our love doesn’t need to be proven to anyone, right?”
Bo Zhoucheng’s voice was gentle, carrying the faint scent of shower gel. Xu Youyan lowered her head.
“You’re right.”
If Bo Zhoucheng didn’t want her to read the private messages, then she wouldn’t.
“Actually, some people do bless us.”
Not everyone opposed their idol’s relationship some simply wished for Xu Youyan’s happiness.
“That’s right.”
Bo Zhoucheng leaned closer.
“So, you should be a little happier.”
Xu Youyan looked down at Bo Zhoucheng, wondering how she could remain so strong and unshaken despite everything they’d been through. Feeling mischievous, she decided to tease her.
“Bo Zhoucheng, am I pretty?”
Xu Youyan leaned in until their noses were almost touching.
“Pretty.”
Bo Zhoucheng nodded, puzzled as to why Xu Youyan had suddenly steered the conversation in this direction.
“Then, do you want to.”
Xu Youyan’s tone lifted slightly as she lowered her head, her lips brushing against Bo Zhoucheng’s ear.
Bo Zhoucheng felt her breath catch, her face flushing like a ripe apple.
“Yanyan, since when did you learn to say such shameless things?”
Her voice trembled slightly. As someone raised with proper upbringing, even in moments of deep affection, she would only say “I love you.”
“Anyone would know how to say this.”
Xu Youyan blinked, suddenly remembering that her girlfriend was, after all, a wealthy heiress who had received a refined education since childhood.
Unlike herself, who grew up in an art school.
She had heard plenty of gossip during her school days, and even though she later became an idol and lived a more restrained life for a few years, that didn’t mean those memories could just vanish into thin air.
Teasing Bo Zhoucheng, the rich young lady, was incredibly amusing.
