- The Cold and Distant Actress is Too Obsessive
- Chapter 43 - Which Part Do You Love More?
When Bo Zhoucheng first mentioned Xia Qian, Xu Youyan had already taken notice of this person and looked into the past. Her heart felt hollow.
But no matter how grand and magnificent the story you hear, you are not the protagonist in it, so you cannot truly grasp the bone-deep pain. Xu Youyan only felt a sense of bewilderment.
Now, hearing Bo Zhoucheng bring it up again, her voice was weak, tinged with a hint of fear of the unknown.
“Was I, severely criticized back then?”
Xu Youyan was clearly distracted. It took Bo Zhoucheng a moment to realize what she was referring to. She simply held her even tighter.
“They just didn’t know the truth.”
“And this time is different. You’re just in love, not.”
Xu Youyan buried her head in Bo Zhoucheng’s shoulder, feeling a pang of heartache for her future self, who had to endure so much. After finally weathering countless storms and on the verge of embracing a happy life, she was replaced by her ten-years-younger self. It was truly frustrating.
“I won’t let something like that happen.”
Bo Zhoucheng cupped Xu Youyan’s face and, under the gentle breeze on the balcony, kissed her without hesitation. It was like a swift wind brushing through the treetops of a forest cool, refreshing, and carrying an unexpected sense of conquest.
Xu Youyan’s pupils slightly dilated. She couldn’t quite handle Bo Zhoucheng’s intensity and initially wanted to push her away, but in the end, she restrained herself, allowing her to do as she pleased.
“We’re filming the show the day after tomorrow. The program crew’s schedule is bound to be exposed. Yan Yan, you need to be careful.”
Bo Zhoucheng mentally calculated their schedules. She knew that trying to downplay things wouldn’t be entirely effective, as reporters and fans would inevitably chase after them.
After saying this, Bo Zhoucheng was about to push the door open. They had been standing outside on the balcony for quite some time. If they didn’t return soon, it might come across as neglectful.
“Has the news been released?”
In the office, Zhou Lianghui crossed his legs, his suit pants sharply pressed, making his figure appear even more slender. Originally, the video should have been sent to Bo Zhoucheng’s studio. The person who filmed it wasn’t foolish uploading the video would only earn them a pittance. Its true value lay in using it as leverage.
However, Zhou Lianghui had intercepted it first.
“It’s been released, but someone is suppressing the popularity.””
The assistant bowed his head.
“That’s normal. Let them slowly suppress it. Don’t let it disappear all at once.”
Zhou Lianghui closed the file in his hand and tossed it aside absentmindedly. His father often called him a “second-generation heir,” and he wasn’t wrong. Compared to the tedious matters of the company, his thoughts were more focused on Bo Zhoucheng.
Since gentle methods didn’t work, he had no choice but to resort to force. Zhou Lianghui wanted Bo Zhoucheng to realize that Xu Youyan didn’t love her as much as she imagined.
He opened the golden pocket watch hidden in his suit pocket. Inside was a photo a picture of Bo Zhoucheng from her high school days. It was just an ordinary ID photo, with a dark blue tie under a white shirt. Her face, free of any makeup, exuded only the tranquility of youth.
His thumb gently stroked the image, and the longing in Zhou Lianghui’s eyes grew stronger.
“Zhoucheng, do you remember?”
“Back then, I always followed you. If any young man had his eyes on you, I made sure he’d be missing a tooth the next day.”
It was a pity that he had to go abroad for his career.
Bo Zhoucheng, born into a wealthy family, chose not to follow the path of a privileged heiress but instead pursued a career as an actress, even developing feelings for another actor.
Zhou Lianghui found it utterly foolish.
The two still had the final episode of a variety show to film, so despite the storm caused by the leaked kissing video, they had to complete their work.
As they stepped out of the airport, Bo Zhoucheng held Xu Youyan’s hand tightly.
She was still a bit worried after all, this was their first public appearance since their relationship had been exposed.
Her slender, delicate fingers slowly tightened around Xu Youyan’s palm, the warmth of their touch bringing Xu Youyan back to her senses.
“I’m fine, don’t worry.”
Xu Youyan had weathered many storms on her path to fame and didn’t believe that revealing her relationship would be her downfall.
But as soon as her feet touched solid ground, the airport became overwhelmingly crowded, filled with the blinding flashes of cameras.
Reporters swarmed with their equipment, creating a scene more fitting for a museum’s prized exhibit than a celebrity arrival.
“Xu Youyan, when did you and Bo Zhoucheng start dating?”
A reporter nearly shoved the camera into Xu Youyan’s face. Even with twenty or thirty bodyguards escorting them, the human wall wasn’t impenetrable. The crowd surged like zombies, held back only by the guards’ outstretched arms.
The camera flashes were dizzying.
From start to finish, Xu Youyan kept her lips sealed, not uttering a single word.
Without the company’s approval, she couldn’t disclose anything about her relationship.
“This is my private matter.”
Xu Youyan stopped walking and faced the reporters.
“Did you two fall in love while filming? Didn’t you just finish shooting a movie together?”
Another reporter pressed forward with questions.
Xu Youyan remained silent, but the number of people snapping photos and asking questions only grew.
“Did you pursue Bo Zhoucheng? Was it because of the Bo family’s influence?”
“So, did you rely on the Bo family to push Xia Qian out of the way?”
“Otherwise, how do you explain why Bo Zhoucheng suddenly stood up for you?”
The questions crashed over her like a tidal wave, impossible to evade or ignore.
“Shut up.”
Bo Zhoucheng stepped directly in front of Xu Youyan, pushing the camera away before taking her hand and striding out of the airport.
In the camera lens, she frowned, her expression fierce and unyielding.
Without a doubt, Bo Zhoucheng would now be labeled as having a bad temper.
Outside the airport, the crowd was even larger, but this time, it was mostly fans.
Xu Youyan had never seen anything like it. In the past, at most, only a third of her fans would show up for a greeting, but now it felt like they had all come out at once.
Bo Zhoucheng got into the car and turned to fasten Xu Youyan’s seatbelt, only to find her trembling.
“What’s wrong?”
Bo Zhoucheng gently patted Xu Youyan’s shoulder.
“Is what they said true?”
Xu Youyan had inexplicably lost ten years of memories and didn’t know if she had changed.
“Am I?”
“Do I care more about your family’s power than I care about you?”
Tears welled up in Xu Youyan’s eyes.
Why?
Why did fate bring her ten years into the future? She loved someone but had no idea how their relationship had begun.
Cheng Zhun’s vague explanations couldn’t clarify anything.
“It’s not like that.”
Bo Zhoucheng pulled her into an embrace, cupping Xu Youyan’s face with one hand and seeing the tears glistening in her eyes.
My heart ached with a sharp pain.
“I love you.”
“You love me too.”
“It’s that simple.”
After saying this, Bo Zhouqing lifted her head and pressed her soft, warm lips against Xu Youyan’s nose.
“Yanyan, don’t overthink it.”
