The Cold and Distant Actress is Too Obsessive - Chapter 41
“What are you staring at so blankly?”
Bo Zhoucheng couldn’t help but laugh as she walked over, holding a black hairdryer in her hand. The buzzing sound filled the air around them.
“Let me dry your hair for you.”
After a long day of filming, both of them were physically exhausted, so they didn’t think about anything else. Once they finished their tasks, they fell asleep as soon as their heads hit the pillows. However, Bo Zhoucheng still had some self-control; before drifting off, she reached out and held Xu Youyan tightly.
“Goodnight.”
Her low voice whispered by Xu Youyan’s ear, as if soothing a baby to sleep.
Xu Youyan had no energy left to respond, as she too had fallen asleep. Despite the soreness all over her body, it felt like she was sinking into a soft cloud.
The temperature difference between day and night in the desert was extreme. In the morning, it was freezing cold. Xu Youyan exhaled a puff of warm breath, and a faint white mist lingered in the air.
Bo Zhoucheng stepped out of the car, looking refreshed and energetic. Clearly, she had rested very well that night.
“Come here.”
When Xu Youyan saw Bo Zhoucheng, her eyes lit up like a kitten spotting a dried fish. She waved her hand, and though Bo Zhoucheng was a bit puzzled, she obediently walked over.
“I found a very secluded spot yesterday.”
It was a place she had accidentally discovered while filming. In the desert, there were wind-eroded rocks, shaped as if carved by the wind, each with its own peculiar form. One of these rocks was shaped like a heart.
Xu Youyan tightly held Bo Zhoucheng’s hand and led her beneath the rock.
“Isn’t it beautiful?”
Bo Zhoucheng nodded.
“It’s beautiful.”
At that moment, they were the only two around. The noise from the film crew had faded into the distance, as most people were still setting up the equipment that had been packed away the day before. So, they still had some free time.
Xu Youyan stepped softly on the sand and quietly moved closer.
“There’s no one here.”
Her voice carried a hint of pride. When she looked up, her eyes seemed to hold the autumn waters, with the wind gently brushing the surface, bringing a faint trace of affection.
“Youyan.”
Bo Zhoucheng guessed what the other was thinking and moved closer.
“If you want.”
Before she could finish her sentence, Xu Youyan stood on her tiptoes. There were some things they hadn’t had time to continue the night before, and she felt a bit regretful about it.
Bo Zhoucheng’s lips were slightly cold. Their hair was tousled by the wind, and warm breaths brushed against their cheeks.
This kind of intimacy felt vastly different from usual it had a secretive quality, like Romeo and Juliet’s moonlit rendezvous.
Bo Zhoucheng’s fingers slid downward, intertwining with Xu Youyan’s, slowly slipping into the spaces between them.
They savored this moment of tranquility.
Xu Youyan was reluctant to pull away until a faint taste of blood spread in her mouth.
“Bo Zhoucheng, you know.”
Xu Youyan looked up at her, leaning her head forward slightly, resting her chin on Bo Zhoucheng’s shoulder, and slowly nuzzling against it.
“You’re really good at kissing.”
Bo Zhoucheng felt her heartbeat skip a beat. The old Xu Youyan would never have said such sweet, cloying words. Why was she becoming more romantic now?
“Is that so? You are too, Youyan.”
The two exchanged flattering compliments, completely unaware that, at that very moment, two people were lying prone on the rocks of the desert.
Covered in yellowish-gray cloth, they were almost completely hidden in the desert landscape.
“Holy crap, this is so explosive!”
The man carefully held his camera, his heart pounding so hard it felt like it might leap out of his chest.
This footage could sell for a lot of money.
“What’s going on?”
The companion beside him took a bite of an energy bar and turned to look at the man.
The two of them weren’t exactly paparazzi, but “substitute shooters” didn’t have much better reputations in the industry than paparazzi. Film crews would chase them off with sticks as if shooing away dogs.
Both Bo Zhoucheng and Xu Youyan were top-tier celebrities in the industry. A few high-definition videos of them could fetch a good price from fans willing to pay.
So, it was a no-lose business, though it required enduring hardship. If caught, both the camera and the footage could be confiscated.
Otherwise, why would the two of them be crouching like chameleons, draped in cloth strips the same color as the desert around them?
“I just.”
The man took a breath before continuing.
“I just caught Bo Zhoucheng and Xu Youyan kissing.”
At these words, his companion’s eyes widened instantly.
“You’re not joking, are you? Those two have kept it so well hidden.”
Xu Youyan and Bo Zhoucheng had been together for years, and catching footage of them hugging or being affectionate wasn’t anything new.
But a kiss this was the first time.
If this got out, it would send shockwaves through the entire entertainment industry.
“Why would I lie to you?”
The man handed his camera to his friend, raising an eyebrow with a smug grin.
“Looks like we can call it a day.”
“All those days we spent lying here weren’t in vain we finally caught a big fish.”
While substitute shooting could earn them tens of thousands, this kind of footage was worth even more.
After several days of filming, the desert outdoor scenes were finally completed, marking the final stages of the movie.
Once filming wrapped up, the director would host a wrap party.
By the time Xu Youyan arrived, it was already quite late. Juggling other commitments alongside filming, she was as busy as a spinning top.
“If you’re tired, you didn’t have to come.”
Xu Youyan sat down next to Bo Zhoucheng, her face etched with exhaustion, a sight that tugged at the heart.
“How could I not come?”
Xu Youyan shook her head. As one of the lead actors, skipping the wrap party would come off as arrogant.
Well, she had a point.
Bo Zhoucheng gently stroked Xu Youyan’s cheek, her heart aching. An improper thought crossed her mind if only Xu Youyan would transfer to her company.
The Bo family wasn’t comfortable with their daughter signing a binding contract with another company, so they had established a small entertainment and film agency specifically for her.
Bo Zhoucheng was a signed artist under that company, and with her father as the majority shareholder, she lived quite comfortably.
Basically, no one dared to criticize her.
However, Xu Youyan had a good relationship with her own company, as it was the one that had launched her career.
Jumping ship after becoming famous just didn’t sit right.
So, over the years, despite the idea lingering in her mind, Bo Zhoucheng had never brought it up.
Thinking she should change the subject to comfort Youyan, Bo Zhoucheng was about to speak when her phone rang.
The dinner table was noisy not the best place for a call.
Bo Zhoucheng stood up, phone in hand, and offered an apologetic smile. Everyone understood and didn’t press further.
She walked out to the balcony.
“Zhoucheng, have you seen the trending searches?”
Her manager’s urgent voice came through the phone, but Bo Zhoucheng remained unfazed.
If anything, she was the type to remain calm even if Mount Tai collapsed before her eyes. No matter how big the incident, Bo Zhoucheng rarely showed surprise.
The only time she had ever been truly stunned in her life.
When Xu Youyan kicked her off the bed, Bo Zhou’s brain short-circuited multiple times in those brief seconds.
She couldn’t understand why Xu Youyan would do such a thing.
In the end, she could only console herself with the thought that the other person might have mistaken her for a man-eating bear in her dream.
