The Cold And Aloof Senior Sister Keeps Flirting With Me - Chapter 53
The Northern Sea Black Iron circled in the air, gradually wrapping around Qi Xianqing.
Yan Jue flipped her wrist, and layers of fine frost coated the black iron, helping lower Qi Xianqing’s body temperature.
She could now control the Northern Sea Black Iron with ease she could shape it into whatever form she wished.
It was unknown how much time passed before the fluctuations of Qi Xianqing’s true qi finally calmed.
Qi Xianqing exhaled deeply and opened her eyes. At the same time, Yan Jue’s body went limp; she collapsed onto the ground, lying on her back, her empty gaze fixed on the stone ceiling above.
She would never guard Qi Xianqing’s breakthroughs again.
She swore it.
First of all, guarding Qi Xianqing’s cultivation was spiritual torture.
Surrounded by the Red Lotus Karma Fire, Qi Xianqing’s rough, uneven breaths made Yan Jue blush within moments, her mind drifting. She had to use great effort to regain control of her thoughts. And that still wasn’t the worst of it an Immortal Spirit Body’s aura was overwhelmingly tempting to demons; sweet, irresistible.
Yan Jue lay on the ground and slowly swallowed. Her legs had gone weak. Her ears were weak too.
Her whole body was covered in sweat, her pale cheeks flushed a deep red, her eyes empty and unfocused she looked as if she’d just been fished out of water.
Qi Xianqing really was a demon.
She actually thought of using Red Lotus Karma Fire as breakthrough material.
Yan Jue couldn’t help silently complaining. The Red Lotus Karma Fire was one of the ancient ten divine flames, immense in power.
It devoured flesh externally and corroded the soul internally.
Using the Red Lotus Karma Fire for advancement if successful the spiritual fire would reinforce the qi sea, making one invincible against anyone of the same realm.
But if she failed…
Once the spiritual fire corroded the soul, her cultivation would plummet. Those with weak talent might never recover their lost strength for the rest of their lives.
Qi Xianqing was truly ruthless.
Qi Xianqing exhaled deeply and stood up. She slowly walked over to Yan Jue.
Qi Xianqing crouched down and looked at her for a while. Then she placed her hands under Yan Jue’s armpits and lifted her up with force.
Because of Yan Jue, this breakthrough was much easier than usual.
Her entire qi sea was filled with spiritual flame it felt as if a swelling force floated within her dantian, full to the point of overflowing.
Better results than any previous attempt.
Yan Jue was suddenly hoisted up and made a stiff expression: “…”
Qi Xianqing frowned slightly, a little unsure. “Junior Sister… are you all right?”
Her tone was unnatural, slightly different from her usual coldness.
Yan Jue no longer had the energy to sense Qi Xianqing’s odd behavior. The moment Qi Xianqing approached, she felt a new, different aura a pressure stronger than before.
Like heavenly might after a phoenix’s rebirth.
Yan Jue slumped for a moment in Qi Xianqing’s arms, then immediately pushed her away. “You’re now…?”
Qi Xianqing pressed her lips together. Her complexion was no longer the pale weakness from before. “Mid Fusion Stage. Thank you for guarding me.”
Yan Jue nodded, wiped the sweat from her forehead, and said casually, “It was nothing. Just a small effort.”
The cave was a complete mess.
The massive alchemy furnace had toppled over, spilled herbs scattered everywhere.
The ground was cracked apart; through the fractures in the rock, molten lava could be seen bubbling and smoking.
The floor was littered with tiny spider corpses.
When the two walked out of Drunken Breeze (Zui Qingfeng), they ran into Xue Shuangxing.
Xue Shuangxing had returned to her true form slender young woman wearing a veiled bamboo hat. She wore an icy jade colored crossed-collar blouse, sat atop the back of a tiger mastiff, and tightly held the reins.
The tiger mastiff’s belly bulged, clearly filled with young ones.
The Beast Taming Pavilion rarely interacted with the Five Dragons Sect.
But among the younger generation, the talented of each sect were respected. Thus, Xue Shuangxing held a natural reverence for Qi Xianqing.
Her gaze paused briefly on Yan Jue with a hint of surprise.
But upon seeing Qi Xianqing, she slightly nodded. “Lord Mengheng.”
Qi Xianqing returned the gesture with a small nod.
Just as they were about to leave the cave.
Yan Jue suddenly said, “Wait.”
Both of them stopped and turned to look at her.
Yan Jue’s figure flashed as she darted directly into the medicinal storeroom.
Seeing the neat rows of medicine cabinets, Yan Jue’s eyes lit up. She reached for one cabinet to pull it open but it didn’t budge.
“…”
“There’s a seal on it,” Qi Xianqing said behind her, her voice warm, the breath brushing against Yan Jue’s neck far too close.
Yan Jue jumped in fright and quickly moved aside. She turned back toward Qi Xianqing with a blank expression and asked, “Does Senior Sister know how to undo it?”
Seeing her avoidance, Qi Xianqing’s lips tightened slightly. She stepped forward and raised her hand.
She held two copper coins between her fingers. With a flick, they shot out, striking the cabinet from the southeast and northwest corners. Instantly, faint blue light rippled across the cabinet, and the air filled with a light wave of spiritual energy.
“It’s undone,” Qi Xianqing said softly.
Yan Jue, unaware of the subtle emotion in Qi Xianqing’s voice, hurried forward and pulled open the leftmost drawer.
Bold characters carved deep into the wood read: Cold Smoke Grass.
That demonic cultivator had committed grave sins taking some of his belongings caused Yan Jue no guilt whatsoever.
Yan Jue possessed dual water and earth spiritual roots.
To mutate them into an ice spiritual root required precious heavenly treasures.
Cold Smoke Grass, being extremely cold in nature, was worth trying. So Yan Jue took one stalk.
Of course, there was always the chance of failure so she selected a few other supporting herbs as well.
“White Ancient Crystal.”
“Soul-Nourishing Wood.”
“Ice Spirit Fruit.”
“Yin Condensation Grass.”
And the rest… those expensive-looking immortal herbs—
She took a few of those too.
After all, she was short on money.
When she finished gathering the supplies, Yan Jue turned and asked Qi Xianqing and Xue Shuangxing, “Do either of you need anything?”
Qi Xianqing shook her head.
She had already used the Red Lotus Karma Fire the rarest treasure in this cave as her advancement material. The other herbs were unnecessary for now.
All the heavenly treasures found in this cave would, upon returning to the sect, need to be reported.
Every sect had its own resource system.
For example, if a disciple found an immature rare treasure but didn’t need it, they could report the information to Qingyun Pavilion.
Then other disciples who needed that resource could use the information to collect it.
Xue Shuangxing closed her eyes. “Beast Taming Pavilion does not loot corpses.”
Each sect had its own rules.
Among the six great immortal sects, some adhered to strict purity and forbade disciples from touching corpses during training.
Yan Jue understood though such rules weren’t ideal, she certainly needed all the resources she could get.
Yan Jue opened another drawer and suddenly paused.
It was the Spirit Transforming Pearl.
On their way to the cave earlier, the young attendant had used this pearl against the mountain wraith.
The pearl was pale violet, glowing faintly in the dim light. Yan Jue closed her eyes instinctively after only one look.
As a fox demon, she had a natural fear of such righteous, awe-inspiring items.
This sort of pearl was perfect for Qi Xianqing.
Yan Jue turned and handed her the pearl. “This is useful. You keep it.”
Qi Xianqing stared at it for a moment, truly believing it would help her slay demons. She nodded lightly and stored the pearl in her qiankun pouch.
After collecting all the useful herbs, Yan Jue suddenly remembered something and returned to Drunken Breeze.
The giant spider had already fallen into the Red Lotus Karma Fire and perished completely. Yan Jue felt a bit regretful.
But the ground was still covered with sticky spider silk.
Yan Jue had a feeling it would be useful, so she crouched down and gathered it all, storing it in the miscellaneous shelf of her qiankun pouch.
Qi Xianqing watched her back and murmured, “…The Five Dragons Sect does not lack resources.”
Yan Jue fastened the pouch to her waist again and sighed. “You may get cultivation resources from the sect, but I’m an outer disciple. I get nothing.”
Qi Xianqing’s gaze shifted. “Do you wish to join the inner sect?”
Yan Jue froze. “…?”
Qi Xianqing continued, “When we return, I can recommend you.”
Under the dim lighting, the girl’s eyes were clear as water.
For a moment, Yan Jue didn’t know what to say.
She had been relieved to be an outer disciple outer disciples had little connection to the sect, making escape easy.
If she entered the inner sect, that would be a completely different story.
Yan Jue said, “I don’t want to.”
Qi Xianqing asked, “Why?”
Yan Jue was speechless. Sometimes Qi Xianqing was too persistent. Yan Jue sighed and said with feigned melancholy, “Inner sect assignments are too much work. The lessons are hard. Outer sect life is more comfortable.”
Qi Xianqing: “…”
Fortunately, she didn’t press the issue.
After finishing her scavenging, Yan Jue slowly stepped out of the cave.
Because she had just finished guarding Qi Xianqing’s breakthrough, Yan Jue was drenched from head to toe. Her white inner garment was soaked through, and beads of sweat still clung to her cheeks as if she had just been pulled out of water.
Looking at Qi Xianqing, however, Yan Jue felt a little unbalanced inside. How could someone who had just undergone a major breakthrough still look so ethereal and composed, her complexion radiant like some untouchable fairy?
“…”
When Yan Jue stepped into the sunlight she had not seen in a long time, her long phoenix eyes narrowed slightly. A refreshing sense of relief washed over her.
But when the cool wind blew past, she suddenly felt a bit cold.
Qi Xianqing watched her for a moment. “The nearest place is Fengxian Town. We’ll head there in a few days. For now, go back to Little Apricot Village and change your clothes.”
Yan Jue replied, “Okay.”
Qi Xianqing then turned to Xue Shuangxing. “Thank you.”
Xue Shuangxing cupped her hands toward Qi Xianqing. “Think nothing of it.”
With a leap, she mounted her giant tiger mastiff and quickly disappeared.
Ever since returning from the Suyang Immortal Mansion to Little Apricot Village, neither Yan Jue nor Qi Xianqing had a moment’s rest.
