The Clingy Coquette and His Straight Roommate - Chapter 3
Chapter 3: Narrow-Minded
Yu Lan still didn’t get to eat his long-awaited cheese croissant today. Liao You had originally planned to pull an all-nighter at the net café, but remembering he had an early class tomorrow, he decided to return to the dorm to sleep.
As soon as Liao You returned, he saw the delivery bags next to Yu Lan’s seat. Yu Lan had just finished washing his hair and was standing in front of his desk towel-drying it.
Liao You approached, frowning and scolding, “Why are you eating this junk again? And you’re not even blow-drying your hair…”
At that moment, a stranger’s face appeared at the door. Liao You wondered who this guy was at first, but he immediately matched the face to the name.
The second he made the connection, he suddenly remembered that Bo Jingshi was a “steel straight man,” while Yu Lan was currently wearing short shorts, hair half-dry, and skin steamed into a rosy, moist glow. This kind of pretty young boy was likely the exact type Bo Jingshi detested most.
Liao You hastily moved to block Yu Lan, instantly shielding the boy’s upper body completely.
Snowy-white, moist, slender legs peeked out from between the other adult male’s legs, appearing even more delicate and soft by comparison. Yet, this beauty didn’t lack the litheness of a youth; the sense of bone structure beneath the soft flesh remained. The shape of his legs was excellent—straight yet fleshy, looking as if they would have a superb tactile feel.
Bo Jingshi gave Liao You a faint glance. The irritation he had felt not long ago surged up again. Expressionless, he returned to his own seat, opened his laptop, and began to work.
Liao You peeked at Bo Jingshi’s face—God, how could a face look so sour!
Luckily he had blocked him quickly, otherwise, Yu Lan would have been judged to death.
Feeling he had done a great deed, Liao You turned back to Yu Lan and continued, “Hurry up and dry your hair. If your mom knew, she’d definitely nag you again.”
Only then did Yu Lan reluctantly head out to blow-dry his hair.
Bo Jingshi stared at the glowing electronic screen, his mind drifting.
They didn’t look like simple roommates; they seemed like very close friends who had met each other’s parents and had a deep history. Yu Lan didn’t resist the other’s touch or “orders” either. Being scolded like that and looking used to it—in one ear and out the other—meant they were in a very intimate relationship.
This shouldn’t have been his business, yet he felt frustrated. And following that frustration, other emotions began to germinate.
Aren’t you quite good at acting spoiled? Why aren’t you doing it now?
You’re as soft as cotton in front of me, so why do you turn a deaf ear when someone else has a mean attitude.
Bo Jingshi remained distracted. For the first time, he, who was usually able to dedicate 100% to his work, was unable to concentrate.
Liao You, having grabbed his clothes to head out for a shower, saw Bo Jingshi at the opposite desk drinking a cup of iced Americano without changing his expression. He silently gave him a thumbs-up in his heart.
Drinking this in the middle of the night—true stamina.
He had originally wanted to say something to Bo, like a greeting or an introduction, or perhaps mention that he might have heard some rumors but Yu Lan was actually a very good, simple person—not as bad as people said.
But Bo Jingshi looked like he didn’t care about anything. Moreover, Bo’s reclusiveness was famous; he looked like he had no desire to socialize with them.
There seemed to be no need to explain.
Anyway, as seniors, they would stay at school for a semester or half a semester at most. Plus, Bo had a studio outside, so he probably wouldn’t be around often. There was indeed no need to over-explain to someone who wouldn’t have any intersection with them in the future.
Their dorm didn’t have an individual bathroom; they had to use the communal area on each floor to use the toilet or shower.
After showering, Liao You returned to his seat to play games for a bit. Because it was late, he swapped his mechanical keyboard for a standard one. The other roommate, Sun Yiwen, had also returned and was currently in the “sleeping while connected on a call to hear each other snore” phase.
Bo Jingshi was still working. They were currently planning a technical equity stake, and the specifics were still being negotiated.
Yu Lan came back after drying his hair, carrying a delivery bag. He distributed the milk tea inside to his roommates.
Liao You took off his headset: “Aren’t you afraid of having to pee in the middle of the night?”
Yu Lan glared at him: “I won’t!”
Sun Yiwen, who was on the top bunk connected with his girlfriend, took a moment to blow a kiss to Yu Lan: “Love you, Lanlan baby!”
The scene of roommates getting along harmoniously was foreign and useless to Bo Jingshi. He was still writing a proposal.
Suddenly, a warm body leaned in beside him, accompanied by an unignorable fragrance. Bo Jingshi put down his mouse and turned his head toward the other person.
For some reason, the rims of Yu Lan’s eyes were a bit red.
Did he just cry?
Bo Jingshi’s brow knitted slightly. Was it because of what was said earlier? Just because Liao You told him to hurry up and dry his hair, he felt wronged and went to cry secretly?
How can he be so spoiled, crying over just that.
Bo Jingshi couldn’t help but think: if Yu Lan would cry over this little thing, would he have shed tears over what happened during the day? How many times had he cried secretly in a corner?
He definitely did.
Yu Lan sniffed, feeling his eyes still hurting. When he was washing his face just now, the facial cleanser foam had gotten into his eyes along with the cold water; it stung so much.
He had changed into long pants. His hair looked a bit fluffy after being dried. The long-sleeved, long-pants pajamas made him look very obedient. His exposed toes were rounded and tinged with pink; he was beautiful everywhere.
Bo Jingshi stared at his toes, lost in thought. Yu Lan, however, suddenly remembered Bo Jingshi wiping his feet not long ago. He was so nervous his toes had curled and he had felt restless, his small face flushing with a faint red.
They still maintained a distance. Yu Lan’s voice was very small, and his movements while handing something over were very proper: “Senior, this is for you.”
While he appeared submissive on the surface, a small flame was burning in his heart.
This tea was extremely disgusting—it was a total “landmine” product he had accidentally bought. It was bitter enough to make one’s taste buds go numb and the soul leave the body; it belonged to the “never buy again in this lifetime” series.
Bo Jingshi would definitely be traumatized after drinking it.
Narrow-minded Yu Lan was still holding a grudge, but he didn’t dare show it. He lowered his head and stared at his own twisting fingers. He didn’t dare be mean to the person, so he could only vent his anger this way, treating his own fingers as Bo Jingshi to be tortured.
That’s for bullying me!
I’m going to make you taste what it’s like to have your tongue go numb from bitterness.
Bo Jingshi, however, remained silent. Yu Lan’s expression was obedient, his brow exuding a harmless timidity—he was as simple as a little lamb that anyone could manipulate.
I have one too?
… He thought that since he had done such a terrible thing, he wouldn’t get one.
He wasn’t someone who cared about others’ feelings, nor did he care what others thought of him. But that didn’t stop him from admitting that what he had done to Yu Lan was indeed rude—one could even say he lacked upbringing. And up until now, he hadn’t even given a proper explanation or apology.
Yet Yu Lan held no grudge, even getting him a portion when buying milk tea. He was truly too kind, and too simple.
And so obedient.
Yu Lan peeked at him secretly. Seeing Bo Jingshi still staring at him, he thought his bad intentions had been discovered and immediately lowered his head in guilt, thinking maybe he should just forget it.
Right then, Bo Jingshi took the cold tea. His finger accidentally brushed against Yu Lan’s finger, and he frowned.
But this time, he didn’t pull his hand back. The touch wasn’t as bad as he had imagined; Yu Lan’s fingers were very soft and felt very comfortable to the touch.
Yu Lan didn’t leave. He watched Bo Jingshi expectantly, appearing as if he wouldn’t be satisfied until he saw Bo Jingshi drink it with his own eyes.
Bo Jingshi looked at those moist eyes, and his brow furrowed again.
Acting spoiled again.
He could only insert the straw and take a sip. Immediately, Yu Lan asked happily, “How is it? Is it good?”
Isn’t it disgusting!
Yu Lan thought his scheme had succeeded and was feeling smug, when Bo Jingshi answered him: “It’s good.”
His small face froze, unable to believe what he had heard: “It’s really good?”
“Mhm, really good.” Although the taste was bitter, the aftertaste was sweet, and the refreshing effect was good—much better than the iced Americano on his desk.
Yu Lan stammered for a moment, let out a dull “oh,” and walked away slowly while biting his straw, looking like he couldn’t figure it out.
Watching Yu Lan’s departing figure, Bo Jingshi suddenly realized: why did they all have milk tea, but he was the only one with tea? Was it because he knew he was staying up late and needed something to refresh him, so he specifically ordered tea for him?
The next day, Bo Jingshi grabbed his laptop to head back to the studio and saw his roommate downstairs.
Liao You was holding a paper bag with the AD Private Bakery logo printed on it. He guessed it contained the cheese croissant Yu Lan mentioned yesterday.
But Liao You didn’t give the dessert to Yu Lan; instead, he gave it to a sweet-looking girl.
“Can you really give it to me? The line at their shop is so long!”
“It’s fine. Yu Lan hasn’t finished class yet. If you want to eat it, I’ll give it to you.” Liao You pulled up his phone to show her. “Anyway, he was just craving it yesterday; he’s probably forgotten by today. Look, as greedy as he is, he hasn’t even nagged me once.”
“And it’s no big deal, he’s not that petty of a person.”
“Thank you so much! I’ll treat you to a meal next time.”
Bo Jingshi arrived at the school gate, found his familiar car, and opened the driver’s door. Hua Die had been waiting in the passenger seat for some time.
Hua Die looked down at his phone for a bit before suddenly asking, “By the way, how’s that roommate of yours? That ‘gay-circle little heavenly dish’ Lanlan baby.”
“Don’t call him that,” Bo Jingshi said coldly. “He’s alright, just likes to act spoiled a bit too much.”
“Likes to act spoiled with you? He doesn’t have feelings for you, does he! Just as the rumors say, he likes to bend straight men—taking the hard road. He’s probably happy as hell that you came; a high-difficulty challenge. If he takes you down, that’ll be a glorious achievement for his record…”
Bo Jingshi’s brow furrowed even deeper. If he had heard a man liked him in the past, he would have been disgusted. Now, his first reaction was—
Does Yu Lan like him? That seems alright.
It wasn’t that Bo Jingshi was narcissistic, but Yu Lan had acted spoiled with him multiple times, looked at him with that kind of expression, and even gave him special treatment when sending milk tea. Many of his actions were too ambiguous; it was indeed easy to cause a misunderstanding.
But if Yu Lan liked him, then everything would make sense.
Bo Jingshi didn’t answer. Hua Die wasn’t surprised; a straight man like Bo Jingshi was naturally repulsed by such topics.
As the car moved slowly, Hua Die suddenly squinted at the road ahead. This wasn’t the way back to the studio.
“Wait, did you take a wrong turn?”
“Going to AD.”
“Why do you suddenly like sweets?”
“Buying for a friend,” Bo Jingshi didn’t want to say much.
Hua Die raised an eyebrow, surprised. “You have friends?”
After a moment of silence, Bo Jingshi said, “Roommate.”
“Which one, Yu Lan?”
Bo Jingshi didn’t deny it. Hua Die’s eyebrows shot up even further.
Bo Jingshi was not a person prone to helping others; the idea of him kindly carrying things for someone else was a total fairy tale. At the same time, the mall was quite far from the studio. It was completely impossible for Bo Jingshi to take a detour; an enlightened egoist like Bo Jingshi wouldn’t waste his precious time for someone else.
He suspected Bo Jingshi had been possessed.
Hua Die gave a friendly warning: “Be careful. These gay guys are scary, acting obedient and pure just to trick you into bed. I even heard that gay guys like to buy smelly socks and worn underwear to sniff; it’s just ridiculous. A normal person would vomit just seeing that stuff…”
Bo Jingshi interrupted calmly: ” I know what I’m doing.”
The car headed toward the mall; AD Private Bakery was on the street across from it. Bo Jingshi parked the car and went inside, returning shortly with bags of all sizes.
Looking at the dessert bags that almost wouldn’t fit in the back seat, the corner of Hua Die’s mouth twitched violently.
You don’t know sh*t!
