The CEO Omega’s 'Soft Rice' Alpha - Chapter 33
Chapter 33
Su Yi’an instinctively hid the moment she heard Lan Yin’s voice. Lan Yan’s movements in opening and closing the door were swift; Lan Yin saw nothing.
“As long as everything is okay. I was wondering if you needed help,” Lan Yin said. Seeing Lan Yan looking normal, she didn’t ask further.
The two went back to their own tasks, but after sitting for less than two minutes, Lan Yan opened the TV cabinet and openly took out a bottle of wound medicine and a few cotton swabs. “I’m going into the bedroom to apply some medicine,” she said.
“Okay,” Lan Yin nodded, not reacting at first.
Until a minute later, she knocked on the bedroom door again: “Young Aunt, is your injury serious? Do you need help? Should I call Doctor Jiang?”
An injury that I’m not allowed to see—how serious must it be? Or rather, how private is the location? Could it be like Fourth Uncle said, that Young Aunt was bullied by an Alpha, but out of pride and a desire not to worry the family, she chose to hide it from everyone?
Looking at the message Fourth Uncle sent, Lan Yin could no longer remain calm. Concern led to confusion, and coupled with Fourth Uncle’s repeated urgings, she knocked on the door again.
Inside, Lan Yan pressed the cotton swab heavily against the injury on Su Yi’an’s forehead. Caught off guard, Su Yi’an let out an extremely tiny, muffled groan.
Sitting on the bed, she looked up at the sister standing before her. The corners of her eyes were a bit red, like a wounded small animal. She probably was in a lot of pain; she looked utterly pitiful.
“Don’t make a sound.”
Lan Yan’s eyes flickered. She unnaturally retracted her hand, threw the swab into the nearby trash can, and took out a new one. She handed it along with the medicinal liquid to Su Yi’an, leaned down, and whispered close to her ear: “Do it yourself. You young people—how can you be so fragile? It’s just a small injury.”
After coming in, she had somehow, as if possessed, helped the little Alpha apply the medicine. Clearly, there was a mirror here, and it wasn’t the little Alpha’s hand that was injured; she could have reached it herself.
More and more fragrance drifted into Su Yi’an’s nose, stimulating her brain. Because they were at home, Lan Yan’s shirt wasn’t fully buttoned. With this lean, Su Yi’an saw some things she shouldn’t have seen. That glimpse of white almost dazzled her eyes.
Actually, Su Yi’an hadn’t made a sound entirely because of the pain in her forehead. It was mainly because she was suddenly hit with such force while she was lost in fantasies about her sister that she couldn’t hold it back. The sound was very quiet and couldn’t be heard outside at all, but in the silent room where the two were close, and with nerves strained because of Lan Yin, even a small noise could stir up a thousand waves.
“Sister…”
Su Yi’an’s hand holding the medicine trembled slightly as she looked away. This amplified sense of stimulation made her fear she wouldn’t be able to control herself. She admitted that “young people are inexperienced,” but it certainly wasn’t because of that little scratch on her forehead.
The emotions in Su Yi’an’s eyes were hidden quickly, so Lan Yan didn’t notice. She stood up and called out to Lan Yin: “It’s just a small scratch, it’s fine.”
No matter how much Fourth Uncle egged her on, Lan Yin couldn’t bring herself to barge directly into her young aunt’s bedroom. After Lan Yan answered, she left: “Young Aunt, I’m going to make lunch. You must tell me if you feel unwell anywhere.”
“Mm.”
Lan Yan intended to leave, but for some reason, her gaze shifted and she saw the stained pillow. Her brow furrowed tightly. Why does that look like blood? It wasn’t there yesterday.
Lan Yan stepped forward quickly and picked up the pillow. She looked at Su Yi’an again. Could it be that the little Alpha’s wound opened up, and that’s why…
Seeing her movements, Su Yi’an had no time for other thoughts; her heart nearly leapt into her throat. “Sister, I didn’t mean to get the pillow dirty.”
Who knew that waking up in a daze would reveal such a heart-intoxicatingly beautiful sight? In this summer heat, anyone would find it hard to bear. Nosebleeds weren’t something she could control.
“Sister, I’ll take the sheets and pillowcase to wash in a bit.” Su Yi’an tried to take the pillow from her hand.
Lan Yan let her take it, but her expression grew even darker. “Are you hiding something from me?”
Just from the bloodstains on the pillow, Sister discovered my little secret? That’s too sharp.
With a cold sweat on her back, Su Yi’an didn’t know how to answer. Then she saw the sister in front of her, whose face was solemn, showing a flash of guilt and heartache in her eyes. She even softened her voice: “Let me see the back of your neck.”
Su Yi’an was a smart person; she instantly realized “Sister Grape” misunderstood and thought the blood came from the wound on the back of her neck. Immediately, her heart stopped trembling and the cold sweat vanished. She climbed up the branch her sister offered: “Sister, the back of my neck is fine. It just bled a little this morning and accidentally stained the pillow. I’ll wash it clean.”
Is the issue whether it can be washed clean? A gland bleeding is such a serious matter, and she was keeping it from her.
Lan Yan felt that sooner or later, she would be driven to death by the anger caused by this “stuffy gourd” of a kid. She endured again and again before suppressing that inexplicable surge of anger. “Why didn’t you tell me the back of your neck was bleeding? Didn’t I tell you to find Doctor Jiang if anything happened?” She unconsciously raised her voice.
“Shh, Sister, be quieter.”
Su Yi’an glanced at the bedroom door and placed her hand virtually over Lan Yan’s mouth. “Lan Yin will hear you in a bit. Don’t be angry, Sister, I’ll let you look.”
She looked troubled on the surface, but inside, she was blooming with joy. Sister is concerned about me and feels bad for me.
Su Yi’an had strong spiritual energy; she could sense that Lan Yin hadn’t been outside the door since the last knock and had already started working in the kitchen. It was impossible for her to hear their movements. But to stay close to her sister, Su Yi’an naturally pretended not to know.
Lan Yan also calmed down. She went behind her and lifted the long hair covering the area with her hand. At this time, Su Yi’an’s neck was no longer wrapped in gauze. Seeing the wound that had mostly healed, the blockage in Lan Yan’s chest finally dissipated a little.
But those remaining teeth marks—can they not be removed? I really bit down too hard back then.
Lan Yan’s anger turned into a deeper, more complex feeling. She would find a chance to ask Jiang Mu; no Alpha would want to leave such an ugly scar on such an important place. The younger girl didn’t say it, but she was probably heartbroken inside. Once their one-year agreement was up, wouldn’t it be hard for the little Alpha to find another Omega while carrying this mark?
Thinking of this, Lan Yan felt uncomfortable for some reason. Her second cousin Lan Jiang, a medical professor, had once said that in another year, there would be a drug to control pheromone disorders. Her original reason for signing the one-year agreement was to alleviate her current predicament, wasn’t it? Why did she feel so lost and melancholy now?
Unconsciously, Lan Yan stared at Su Yi’an for a long time. Her hot breath fanned across Su Yi’an’s neck, and Su Yi’an’s heart became a mess. “Sister, is it not okay yet? Is it very serious?” Her voice was slightly husky and faintly uneasy.
She knew exactly how serious it was, but if her sister kept staring, it would become serious because she was starting to want to make a mistake.
Lan Yan’s heart twitched, and she snapped back. “It’s fine. If you encounter this problem again, you must tell me or Doctor Jiang, understand?” After Su Yi’an nodded, Lan Yan quickly looked away and asked, “Do you want to sleep more?”
If they ended the contract after a year, maybe she could ask her second cousin to see if a remedy for the sterilization could be made. Otherwise, her conscience might never let her off for the rest of her life. After all, that kind of damage couldn’t be compensated with money.
Su Yi’an was quite well-behaved. “No, Sister. Maybe you should find a way to distract Junior Lan Yin so I can go back to school after washing the sheets.”
Lan Yan took a discreet look at the blazing sun outside. “Can you take the afternoon off?” At this hour, going back and forth was a hassle. Although Lan Yin was easy to handle, Lan Yu behind her wasn’t so easy to fool. For now, she couldn’t think of a better way to draw her away without appearing too deliberate and raising Lan Yin’s suspicions.
Furthermore, if she were accidentally discovered by Lan Yin… the young aunt she had always admired was just like those greasy middle-aged Alphas, keeping a student… Lan Yan’s breath hitched. She didn’t dare imagine such a scene happening to her; her pride wouldn’t allow it.
She was immersed in her own world, so she didn’t notice the corner of Su Yi’an’s mouth curving up slightly in the shadows.
“I can, Sister. Do you need me to take leave? But if I stay here and Junior Lan Yin finds out, would that be bad?”
She knew “Sister Grape” wouldn’t kick her out at this time.
“Lan Yin won’t find out,” Lan Yan replied instinctively. She took the pillow from Su Yi’an’s hand. “I’ll take the sheets out to wash. You take your leave. I’ll find a way to bring food in for you in a bit.” After speaking, Lan Yan began stripping the bed.
Su Yi’an followed quickly. “I’ll help you, Sister.”
Lan Yan didn’t refuse. With the two working together, it was much faster. In less than five minutes, they had removed the dirty bedding and replaced it with a new set.
“Lan Yin is a slow cook. Lunch will take a while. You can sleep more if you’re tired.” Lan Yan left the bedroom carrying the dirty laundry.
Su Yi’an looked at her back and smiled. She didn’t sleep; she took her phone and sat on the chair. Her sister was truly like an ice grape—sour and cold on the outside, but one bite revealed a deeply thirst-quenching sweetness.
The system, which had watched the whole process but had been blocked once the “indescribable” images appeared, looked puzzled: “An unprovoked nosebleed looks quite serious. Does the Host really not need to see a doctor? ‘Little Crying Bag’ also detected that the Host’s liver fire and heart fire are too exuberant. It’s not good in the long run. After all, this is a body of this world. My detection might not be 100% accurate; I suggest the Host see a doctor.”
It only saw Su Yi’an’s nosebleed, not the reason for it, so it was genuinely confused.
Su Yi’an, however, turned red with embarrassment. “Little Crying Bag, you are not allowed to scan my body at will, or I’ll report you.”
Excessive fire causing a nosebleed? Isn’t it because I’ve been yearning and holding it in for too long? Do I not know the reason myself? If Sister were willing to solve it for her, why would she be so frustrated? Hearing “Little Crying Bag” say it out loud made her seem so perverted. It made her feel a bit ashamed to face her wonderful sister; after all, from the very beginning, she had approached her with “impure” intentions.
But some flowers should be plucked when the time is right; she just had to wait for the timing to mature.
The system was scared to tears by the threat of a report and became submissive, not daring to speak anymore.
Sitting alone in the bedroom should have been boring, but accompanied by the fragrance filling the room, Su Yi’an didn’t feel that way. With things on her mind, time seemed to pass quickly even while doing nothing. She was in her sister’s room, and her sister was only separated from her by a single wall. How could it be boring? Sunlight shone into the room and fell on Su Yi’an’s face. The tenderness in her eyes was like a vast ocean; one look and a person would drown in it. She was no longer hiding it.
When Lan Yan walked out of the bedroom, Lan Yin was still busy in the kitchen. The vegetables were mostly ready, and she was currently cutting meat. Hearing her aunt’s footsteps, she looked back. “Is Young Aunt going to wash the sheets?”
But internally, she was already screaming. Fourth Uncle was right again. Young Aunt had a slight obsession with cleanliness; whether it was the sheets or anything else, if they were stained with even a bit of something, she would wash the whole set. Fourth Uncle told her to come so early specifically to see if Young Aunt would wash her sheets.
What did this mean? It meant Young Aunt likely slept with someone last night, so the sheets got dirty. Perhaps that person was still hidden in the bedroom. Otherwise, why wash the sheets? Why ask her to make an extra portion of food? And why hide in the bedroom to apply medicine? If Young Aunt was applying medicine, it was probably that reckless Alpha who had injured her…
No matter how much she thought, Lan Yin couldn’t just barge into the bedroom to verify. Instead, in her state of distraction, she cut her finger. The wound wasn’t deep, but it bled, and the blood got on the meat. This portion of freshly cut meat was now ruined.
Lan Yin walked out with a troubled face. “Young Aunt, do you have any Band-Aids?”
“Hmm?” Lan Yan was hand-scrubbing a bloodstain on the pillowcase. Hearing Lan Yin, she shifted her gaze to the bleeding finger and knitted her brows slightly. “They’re in the cabinet on the far right of the TV stand. Why were you so careless? Are all you young people so reckless in what you do?”
Lan Yin’s expression shifted slightly. She hurried to the TV stand and opened the cabinet Lan Yan mentioned. Young Aunt is hand-washing a pillowcase. Hand-washing. Pillowcase. Blood?
Is it possible that the pillow was placed under Young Aunt’s waist last night, which is why she’s hand-washing it today? No wonder Young Aunt’s pheromones aren’t out of control; she’s already with an Alpha…
Lan Yin’s face turned bright red. She felt she knew something about her young aunt that she shouldn’t know. She had been an adult for a long time and had been introduced to “adult” topics by her friends, so she wasn’t completely ignorant. Also, who else did “young people” refer to besides herself?
Fourth Uncle said he introduced two young Alphas to her aunt, a man and a woman. Could the person she mentioned be one of them? Also, the medicine in this cabinet… there wasn’t just wound medicine; there were also those that could induce Alpha pheromones. She had seen them at Second Uncle’s place before.
Once Lan Yin figured certain things out, she was basically certain. But no matter how surprised she was, she couldn’t say anything. Firstly, her aunt didn’t want to say it, which meant she had her own reasons. Secondly, she felt Fourth Uncle was a bit of a troublemaker. Thus, she could tell Fourth Uncle some of the things she saw, but there was no need to tell him what she guessed on her own. As for the rest, if Fourth Uncle wanted to know, he could investigate himself. It was none of her business.
In that case, would she be bothering her aunt and her little Alpha in cultivating their relationship? Should she find an excuse to leave? But if she left suddenly, her smart aunt would know she had discovered something, which would be awkward. She shouldn’t have listened to Fourth Uncle just for that “Starry Sky” painting by the artist Su Su. Now she was in a dilemma.
Lost in regret, Lan Yin forgot to tend to her finger for a moment. Lan Yan couldn’t stand it, walked toward her, and glanced at the cabinet. “Can’t find it?” It was so obvious; surely her niece wouldn’t miss it?
Young people had so many thoughts nowadays; for a moment, she couldn’t even tell what her niece was thinking. Fortunately, the wound wasn’t deep and the blood had started to coagulate; otherwise, she would really want to knock on her niece’s head to see what was inside.
Lan Yin snapped back and quickly grabbed a Band-Aid and alcohol. “Found it. Don’t worry about me, Young Aunt.”
She was too young, after all; her panic was plain to see for Lan Yan. And Lan Yan knew her better than her own parents did. In that instant, Lan Yan thought of many things but said nothing. She just looked at the medicine in the cabinet meant specifically for the little Alpha, silently closed the cabinet, and looked much more natural than Lan Yin. “As long as you’re okay. Don’t cook anymore; we’ll order takeout in a bit.”
Her niece was a smart person. She believed that even if she found something out, she wouldn’t blab to Lan Yu. She trusted her. That was why she felt comfortable letting Lan Yin in today. It must be said that sometimes, the aunt and niece had quite a bit of chemistry.
Lan Yin shook her head, treated the wound, and hurried to the kitchen. “I’m fine, Young Aunt. It’s just a scratch. You don’t like takeout anyway; let me cook.” She felt that if she didn’t do something to distract herself, she would keep overthinking, which might attract her aunt’s attention. Then staying here would be even more agonizing for her.
Sigh, I shouldn’t have brought the painting tools. Her aunt, who knew her habits, must have seen through her plan to stay overnight. Leaving now wouldn’t be appropriate. However, seeing that her aunt was currently calm and unhurried, maybe the Alpha had already left before she arrived. Thinking of her purpose—to accompany her aunt safely through the special period—Lan Yin finally stopped overthinking and her expression relaxed.
Since her niece insisted on cooking, Lan Yan didn’t stop her. After scrubbing the blood off the pillowcase, she threw the whole four-piece bedding set into the washing machine. Then she took out her tablet and began reviewing various documents and reports sent by her secretary.
When the washing machine stopped, she put down the tablet and began hanging the sheets. Since she was alone this time, hanging them was a bit of a struggle. Lan Yan couldn’t help but recall the scene of hanging sheets with the little Alpha that day; her face turned uncontrollably red. Same scene, but with one person missing, many things changed. Even the sunlight seemed exceptionally bright. Lan Yan couldn’t quite describe the feeling in her heart.
After hanging the sheets, she stared at them for a long time.
This scene, in Lan Yin’s eyes, carried a weirdly ambiguous vibe. It was as if her aunt—who was like the bright moon in the sky—was looking at the sheets and reminiscing about her lost “innocence.” Once she accepted the setting that Young Aunt had done something “indescribable” with an unknown Alpha last night, everything Lan Yin looked at seemed strange. She even felt that her aunt was becoming more mature and sophisticated, with an indescribable charm hidden between her brows—a charm unique to a woman.
The heat on Lan Yin’s face hadn’t subsided once. Fortunately, the noon weather was hot and she was busy in the kitchen, so it didn’t look out of place.
“Young Aunt, it’s time to eat.” Lan Yin brought out the three dishes she had made. She touched her face—which was sweating from the heat—with her slightly cool hands before calling the person on the balcony.
“Okay,” Lan Yan turned around.
Lan Yin suddenly felt a strange sensation. Her aunt, bathed in the golden glow of the sun, looked like a goddess about to ascend in a cultivation movie—unreachable, untouchable, as if she would shatter if touched lightly. Lan Yin blinked, and when she opened her eyes again to see her aunt close by, the strange feeling faded.
“Young Aunt, you eat first. I’m going to wash my face,” Lan Yin said as she headed to the bathroom. After cooking, she felt her face was covered in oil; she wouldn’t feel right if she didn’t wash it.
Clearly, Lan Yan knew this little habit of hers and nodded calmly. But the moment Lan Yin entered the bathroom, Lan Yan ran into the kitchen with lightning speed, grabbed a new plate, piled on a bunch of food and rice in a few swift motions, rushed into the bedroom, and came back out. The whole process took less than a minute. The time was so tight that a thin layer of sweat appeared on Lan Yan’s face. Her usual cold and dignified image vanished completely.
Su Yi’an, who was sitting properly on the chair, was stunned when she suddenly received a plate of food. Thinking of that whirlwind figure, she suddenly couldn’t help but let out a low laugh. Sister is too cute. How did she think of this? Actually, it was just one meal; it wouldn’t matter if she didn’t eat. It felt like they were having an underground affair, afraid of being caught. For the sake of her sister’s thoughtfulness, regardless of how the food tasted today, she had to finish the whole plate.
When Lan Yin came out from washing her face, she was stunned to see the significantly reduced portion of food and the solemn aunt who was chewing and swallowing slowly. Her appetite is way too good.
No, rather, Young Aunt was trying too hard for that possibly hidden Alpha. Lan Yin felt like laughing for some reason. She suppressed the urge and pretended to know nothing. “Young Aunt, has my cooking improved?” She ate at school most of the time and rarely cooked; she was lucky if she hadn’t regressed, let alone improved. Lan Yin just asked this randomly to cover her shock.
“Mm,” Lan Yan nodded and critiqued seriously. “The rice is soft but not mushy, the braised pork is fatty but not greasy, and the tofu is very flavorful. It seems you’ve put quite a bit of effort into this lately.”
Lan Yin: “…I’m glad you like it, Young Aunt.”
Truth be told, Young Aunt is really good at lying through her teeth. She knew her own cooking; it could only be described as edible. However, Lan Yin didn’t plan to expose her. After eating, she proactively washed the dishes. Once everything was cleaned up, Lan Yin took out her painting tools and set them up on the balcony. “Young Aunt, I want to paint this afternoon.”
By not going directly to the bedroom, she still hoped to see what the Alpha hidden by her aunt looked like. She promised she would only take one secret peek and not tell anyone.
“Mm,” Lan Yan wasn’t flustered at all. She knew many of Lan Yin’s habits, including her afternoon naps. So, while Lan Yin said she was going to paint, Lan Yan made an excuse to go back into the bedroom. She took out the things she had prepared earlier for the banquet and began applying makeup to Su Yi’an.
The banquet was at seven. Logically, it was a bit early to prepare, but to give Su Yi’an a makeup look that no one would recognize would take some time.
