Chapter 23: Looks Like My Kissing Skills Aren’t Bad.
Mo Xun looked at Yun Wushang, who was so close, feeling her breath on her face, and her heart rate accelerated uncontrollably.
The collar of her clothes was tightly gripped in the other woman’s hand, making escape impossible. Her heart beat powerfully against her ribcage, and she wondered if Yun Wushang could hear it.
After establishing the life-and-death pact, it felt like a heavy mountain had been temporarily lifted from her shoulders. Mo Xun admitted she had been too relaxed, constantly provoking Yun Wushang, even though she knew that this beautiful shell contained the ruthless Demon Lord.
When provoking her, Mo Xun had anticipated Yun Wushang might attack or play dead with her eyes closed. Yet, she had never expected her to lean in like this, positioning herself as if she were about to kiss her, and ask with a smile: “How do you plan to solve that with sweet talk? Hmm?”
With her naturally cool demeanor, when she smiled like this, a trace of devilish charm emerged in her eyes. Her teasing tone infused the atmosphere between them with a hint of ambiguity.
Mo Xun pressed her lips together, restraining the urge to simply kiss her right then and there.
After a moment of silence, she raised her lips in a competitive smile and replied: “Next time you want to kiss me, just say so. No need to test me like this.”
Yun Wushang: “…”
Mo Xun waited for a moment. Seeing that Yun Wushang only narrowed her eyes and showed no intention of pulling away, she stopped hesitating, raised her hand to cup the back of Yun Wushang’s head, and kissed her lips!
Mo Xun leaned forward. Yun Wushang relaxed and leaned back. Their bodies fell onto the bed together, one on top of the other.
Yun Wushang’s back was pressed against the bed. The hand gripping Mo Xun’s collar hadn’t loosened, so Mo Xun didn’t stop the kiss.
Lips and tongues tangled, as if venting something. She kissed deeply, dominantly, and recklessly, until both were close to suffocating.
Mo Xun ended the kiss, pulling back slightly to gaze at the beauty beneath her, slightly panting.
Her eyes were red at the corners and moist, as if she had cried, but there was no sign of grievance on her face, only a lost, indulgent haze.
Yun Wushang released Mo Xun’s collar, raised her hand to shield her eyes from Mo Xun’s gaze, and then, between gasps, let out a low laugh: “…You’re getting more skilled.”
Mo Xun looked at her, momentarily lost in thought, then replied with forced nonchalance: “Practice makes perfect.”
Mo Xun: “…”
I was careless.
Could this woman have been planning this before she turned and leaned in?
Mo Xun met Yun Wushang’s pleading gaze and couldn’t bring herself to say “no.”
As if knowing this tactic worked on Mo Xun, Yun Wushang relaxed on the bed, raised one hand, and lightly tugged Mo Xun’s sleeve: “Mo Xun, I don’t ask for you to fully heal me, but could you treat me a little more than before? Please?”
Logic told Mo Xun, no.
But emotionally…
Mo Xun lowered her eyes, not wanting to see any expression of disappointment on Yun Wushang’s face.
In that case, she wouldn’t look.
Thinking this, Mo Xun sat up and simultaneously pulled Yun Wushang up from the bed. She then moved behind her, placing her hands on Yun Wushang’s shoulders, and leaned her lips to her ear to reply: “No.”
Yun Wushang: “…”
“Apologies, but the time is not right.”
After whispering this, Mo Xun sat down cross-legged, circulated her spiritual energy, and gave Yun Wushang a limited treatment, just as before.
Yun Wushang looked like she wanted to speak but ultimately said nothing. She closed her eyes, focusing on adjusting her breathing to better utilize Mo Xun’s spiritual energy to recover from her injuries.
After some time, the treatment ended. Yun Wushang got out of bed and left without expression.
Mo Xun watched her retreating back, which never looked back, and suddenly felt a sense of emptiness and unease. She tentatively asked: “Are you angry?”
Yun Wushang’s steps paused. She replied calmly: “Why would I be angry?”
Mo Xun: “For giving me a kiss for free.”
Yun Wushang: “…”
There was a period of silence. Just as Mo Xun thought Yun Wushang wouldn’t speak, Yun Wushang suddenly turned back, met her gaze, and then smiled, saying: “Why do you assume you were the only one who enjoyed that kiss?”
After speaking, she didn’t give Mo Xun a chance to reply, disappearing from her sight within a few steps.
Mo Xun looked at the door, which the wind had closed, was briefly stunned, then chuckled.
Mo Xun: Looks like my kissing skills aren’t bad.
System: “…”
Mo Xun: System, teach me a restriction formation.
How can one enter seclusion without setting up a restriction formation?
Yun Wushang had used one to block Mo Xun when she recovered her strength from the Foundation Establishment to the Golden Core stage.
System: “Understood, Host. But first, a reminder: you currently have 18 reward points waiting to be exchanged!”
Mo Xun: Hmm, save them all. When the right time comes to exchange them, I’ll have you do it for me.
Under the System’s guidance, Mo Xun set up three layers of restriction formations in her room. She then sat down in the center of the Spirit Gathering Formation and dedicated herself to cultivation.
Two days later, the familiar feeling of spiritual energy stagnation reappeared in her Dantian. She relaxed her body, allowing the surging spiritual power to break the limit and burst out from within, engulfing the entire room.
System: “Congratulations, Host! You have broken through to the Golden Core Great Perfection stage! Nascent Soul formation is just around the corner!”
Mo Xun opened her eyes, feeling the rich spiritual energy surrounding her, filled with a sense of accomplishment.
Although she wanted to continue cultivating and break through to the Nascent Soul stage in one go, blindly cultivating would only make her efficiency worse.
Her cultivation talent determined the lower limit of her cultivation speed, but the upper limit was influenced by her comprehension of the Heavenly Dao.
Currently, her comprehension of the Heavenly Dao had hit a bottleneck, and she needed to find a way to improve it.
Should she study formations for a while longer? Or find someone to spar with?
Wait.
Mo Xun suddenly remembered something and quickly asked the System in her mind: Has that scum who caused my Master’s demise appeared yet?
In the original novel, the female protagonist Chu Jiuqu embarked on the Path of Emotionless Dao due to the shock of her Master, Bai Muqing’s, fall.
During her travels, Bai Muqing met a lover and agreed to become dual cultivation partners after breaking through to the Nascent Soul stage. Unexpectedly, all his sweet words were merely a means to turn Bai Muqing into a cauldron to refine spiritual energy for himself.
Bai Muqing still retained consciousness after becoming a cauldron and only begged for death. Chu Jiuqu tearfully killed her Master with her own hands, then left the Water Moon Immortal Sect, embarked on the Path of Emotionless Dao, and began a life of decisive slaughter.
If Mo Xun hadn’t known Bai Muqing, this plot would just be a few cold words on a page.
But now that she had met the living Bai Muqing, how could she stand by and do nothing?
She had to kill that man!
Mo Xun flipped off the bed, deactivated the restriction formation, put away the Spirit Gathering Formation on the bed, grabbed her sword, and left the room.
Mo Xun: Where is that barren mountain? Tell me the location.
Guided by the System, Mo Xun flew on her sword near the barren mountain.
She didn’t dare get too close, as her Master, Bai Muqing, was at the Nascent Soul Great Perfection stage, and her spiritual consciousness must be far superior to Mo Xun’s. Getting too close would lead to discovery.
She concealed herself behind a large boulder on another barren mountain nearby.
Peering out from behind the boulder, she could faintly see two figures on the neighboring mountain. One of them was Bai Muqing.
At this distance, she couldn’t hear their conversation, only see their movements.
She saw Bai Muqing hand a blue porcelain bottle to the man.
Just as she was about to squint her eyes to try and see more clearly, a familiar voice suddenly sounded behind her: “What are you doing?”
Yun Wushang?
Mo Xun jumped in surprise, quickly turning around to meet a pair of scrutinizing eyes.
It was indeed Yun Wushang.
Mo Xun didn’t have time to question why she was following her. She immediately grabbed Yun Wushang’s wrist and pulled her into her arms, holding her so they could both hide behind the rock.
“Shh,” Mo Xun whispered, blowing air into Yun Wushang’s ear.
Feeling the sudden rush of warm air, Yun Wushang’s ears instantly flushed red. She pursed her lips and remained silent, not struggling out of Mo Xun’s embrace.
Mo Xun didn’t notice her unusual reaction and explained softly in her ear: “Master has a lover, but this lover clearly doesn’t look like a good person. I was a bit worried, so I wanted to follow and check the situation. Since I followed secretly, Master absolutely cannot discover me.”
“…How can you tell he’s not a good person from here?” Yun Wushang, unable to move much while being held by Mo Xun, rested her chin on Mo Xun’s shoulder and asked in a low voice.
“Well… he looks particularly frivolous, and the way he looks at Master seems less like he’s looking at a lover and more like he’s looking at a dish.”
In truth, Mo Xun hadn’t clearly seen what the man looked like, but, well, he was scum, so describing him as scum was enough.
“I see.” Yun Wushang seemed convinced and immediately asked, “How do you plan to check the situation from this far away?”
“Hmm…” Mo Xun didn’t know how to answer.
She had planned to wait for the two to part, wait for Bai Muqing to fly away, then chase and kill the scum, solving the root cause of Bai Muqing’s demise.
But now, with Yun Wushang right there, what reason could she use to kill the scum?
“Never mind,” Yun Wushang said, suddenly pushing Mo Xun away from her and taking two black talismans from her collar.
“This is…” Mo Xun looked on in confusion. Before she could react, Yun Wushang cut the surface of her middle finger with her thumbnail, using her blood as ink to write four large characters on each talisman.
She then slapped one of the talismans onto Mo Xun’s chest.
Yun Wushang: “Calm your mind and focus your spiritual consciousness. Listen.”
Mo Xun did as instructed. Soon, the conversation between Bai Muqing and her lover clearly reached her ears.
Bai Muqing: “Keep this safe. You’ll need it for Nascent Soul formation.”
The man: “Good. You should head back soon.”
Bai Muqing: “Mhm.”
Bai Muqing turned and left.
Mo Xun quickly pulled Yun Wushang back into her embrace, shrinking behind the rock.
Their chests and stomachs were pressed together. Separated only by the thin sect robes, they could clearly feel each other’s body temperature.
It wasn’t until Bai Muqing had flown far away that Mo Xun finally released Yun Wushang, clearing her throat uncomfortably.
Just as she was about to explain, the man on the barren mountain suddenly spoke, whispering:
“Tsk. A mere Nascent Soul cultivator can be a Sect Master? In our Spirit Sword Immortal Sect, she wouldn’t even be fit to polish the shoes of a Soul Transformation Elder!”
Hearing this, Mo Xun’s expression instantly turned cold, and Yun Wushang’s eyes narrowed.
The man didn’t know anyone could hear his voice and continued to complain softly: “Hiding her face all the time, is she that hideous? If you weren’t a Water Heavenly Spirit Root, I wouldn’t even give you a glance!”
Mo Xun let out a mocking “Heh.”
She was just worrying about finding a good reason to kill this scum in front of Yun Wushang, and he unexpectedly confessed his intentions without prompting.
“I. Will. Kill. Him,” Mo Xun declared, speaking slowly and clearly, detailing her next move.
“Do you want help?” Yun Wushang asked.
Mo Xun was surprised for a moment and blinked, slightly confused.
She only intended to rationalize her actions to Yun Wushang, not involve her, but… why not?
The Demon Lord would certainly be much better at killing than she was.
However, Yun Wushang’s next words were: “You can also let me help you kill him directly, provided you agree to one thing for me.”
Mo Xun: “What is it?”
Yun Wushang: “Teach me your movement technique.”
Mo Xun: “…”
