The Canary and Little Cannon Fodder [Quick Transmigration] - Chapter 13
The filming for Starlight for You was expected to take about two months, with the location set at Wu’an Film and Television City on the outskirts of Hai City.
Luo Lei dropped Bo Shuyi off at the door of her room on the top floor of the four-star hotel rented by the production crew. He instructed her, “I found an assistant for you. She will arrive this afternoon. I have to leave shortly, so just leave any future matters to her.”
Bo Shuyi nodded and used her key card to open the door. She took off her sunglasses, her red lips curving slightly. “Would you like to come in and sit for a while, Uncle Luo?”
Luo Lei remained at the door without moving. “There is no need for that. Put your luggage down, and I will take you to meet the director and the screenwriter first.”
He represented more than just Bo Shuyi. After getting her settled, he had to return to accompany a Best Actress winner to an overseas audition. Bo Shuyi had no objections. She pushed her suitcase inside and surveyed the room. The space was not large, but the bedroom, kitchen, and living room were fully equipped with furniture and appliances. She found it acceptable. She left her sunglasses on the table and followed Luo Lei to meet the director.
Bo Shuyi rarely wore sunglasses, but after encountering a group of enthusiastic fans at the airport before boarding, she found it troublesome and bought a pair at an airport shop. Wearing the sunglasses hid her radiant eyes and gave her a cold, distant aura that discouraged strangers from approaching. After landing, several groups of people stared at her, but none came over. Perhaps they thought she looked familiar but were not certain, or perhaps they were intimidated by her coldness.
At Wu’an Film and Television City, celebrities were everywhere, so there was no longer a need for the sunglasses. The director and screenwriter stayed on the same floor. After Luo Lei introduced Bo Shuyi, he left directly for the airport to fly back to the capital.
The first thing Bo Shuyi did upon returning to her room was take out her phone and send a video call invitation to Lin Nanyun. Having been apart for only a morning, she already missed her little white rabbit. The phone rang three times before it was heartlessly hung up by the other party. Bo Shuyi narrowed her eyes, a flash of surprise crossing her shimmering black pupils. She tried again, but this time it was hung up after only one ring. Then, a message arrived from Lin Nanyun.
Lin Nanyun: “Shuyi, it is not convenient for me to video call right now. Can we do a voice call instead?”
Bo Shuyi felt something was wrong and did not reply.
In the adjacent room, Lin Nanyun had originally intended to play hard to get by pretending to be busy, planning to surprise Bo Shuyi later with a visit to the set. However, when Bo Shuyi stopped replying, she grew anxious. She sat up, put on her slippers, and ran to the room next door to knock.
“Knock, knock, knock!”
Bo Shuyi walked to the door with her phone, her voice cold. “Who is it?”
Lin Nanyun did not answer but sent a message instead.
Lin Nanyun: “Shuyi, open the door, open the door.”
As soon as Bo Shuyi saw the message, she opened the door. Lin Nanyun laughed and threw herself into Bo Shuyi’s arms. “Are you surprised? Was this unexpected?”
Bo Shuyi pulled her little white rabbit close, turned around, and led Lin Nanyun into the room, kicking the door shut with her heel. She pinned Lin Nanyun against the wall, cushioning the back of her head with her left hand. She looked down and whispered, “I am not surprised, nor is it unexpected.”
“Ah,” Lin Nanyun lowered her head in disappointment. She felt she should have waited to visit the set to provide a real surprise; she blamed herself for not being able to hold back.
Bo Shuyi chuckled and pressed a kiss to the top of her soft hair. “I currently have a feeling of uncertainty, as if a dream has come true. I have not had time for surprise or shock yet.”
Lin Nanyun’s disappointment vanished. She touched the top of her head where Bo Shuyi had kissed her, feeling a slight itch. She looked up with a flushed face and whispered, “It is just a visit. How is that a dream come true?”
Lin Nanyun glanced into Bo Shuyi’s smiling eyes, and as if burned, she quickly lowered her eyelids, her eyelashes trembling. Bo Shuyi raised her right hand, placing her index finger under Lin Nanyun’s chin while her thumb gently brushed against her tender lips. She whispered, “Because you are my dream.”
Lin Nanyun’s face turned bright red, and her heart drummed in her chest.
After lunch, Bo Shuyi accompanied Lin Nanyun to the room next door to pack her things and move them into her own room.
He Hua arrived at the top floor to find Bo Shuyi after checking in with her identification. She was the assistant Luo Lei had hired for Bo Shuyi; she had previously worked with two Best Actresses and was very experienced. He Hua knocked on Bo Shuyi’s door, but no one answered for a long time. She took out her phone and called her, but still, no one picked up. He Hua became nervous, fearing something had happened to Bo Shuyi. She planned to find the hotel manager to open the door and confirm her safety.
As she walked toward the elevator, the door to the room next to Bo Shuyi’s suddenly opened. He Hua subconsciously glanced over and stopped in surprise. “Miss Bo!”
Bo Shuyi looked up. “And you are?”
He Hua quickly said, “Hello, Miss Bo. I was sent by Brother Luo to serve as your assistant for these two months. My name is He Hua.”
He Hua appeared to be twenty-five or twenty-six years old with a simple appearance, looking very reliable. Luo Lei had sent information about the assistant, and she did indeed have this name. Bo Shuyi nodded. “Hello, Sister He. You can just call me by my name.”
“Alright, I will call you Shuyi then,” He Hua replied directly. “Brother Luo might have given me the wrong room number. I knocked on the door next door for a long time and called, but there was no answer. I thought something had happened and was about to find the manager when I ran into you.”
“Where are you going with that suitcase?” He Hua asked curiously, looking at the suitcase in Bo Shuyi’s hand.
“Shuyi, who are you talking to?” Lin Nanyun appeared behind Bo Shuyi, pulling her own suitcase.
He Hua froze for a moment when she saw Lin Nanyun’s face but reacted quickly. She was also an employee of Xingshan Media, so she naturally recognized Lin Nanyun and knew about the high-profile relationship between her and Bo Shuyi on Weibo. “Miss Lin, hello. I am Shuyi’s assistant, He Hua.”
“So you are Shuyi’s assistant. Hello, Sister He. Just call me Nanyun!” Lin Nanyun greeted her with a smile and gently nudged Bo Shuyi’s waist. “Let us go, let us go.”
Bo Shuyi explained to the somewhat confused He Hua, “I do live next door. This was Nanyun’s room.”
Lin Nanyun added an explanation, clearly intending to show off their affection. “Shuyi was worried about me staying alone, so she helped me pack my things to move in with her!”
Lin Nanyun was in an excellent mood, her voice carrying a cheerful lilt. He Hua smiled. “Nanyun and Shuyi seem like a very good match.”
Lin Nanyun said happily, “Sister He, you have great taste.”
Bo Shuyi flattened a stray lock of hair on Lin Nanyun’s head and said, “No one has better taste than I do.”
Lin Nanyun was a bit slow, but after a moment, she understood Bo Shuyi’s meaning: Bo Shuyi had great taste, which was why she liked Lin Nanyun. Lin Nanyun felt so wonderful she nearly lost her sense of direction.
[Host, calm down. Your heart rate is currently too fast.]
Lin Nanyun thought: “I will try my best.” Facing Bo Shuyi’s intentional and unintentional flirting, it was truly difficult to stay calm.
He Hua was indeed an assistant who had worked with two Best Actresses; she was able to maintain a polite smile in the face of their constant public displays of affection. She followed the two of them into Bo Shuyi’s room and looked around. She went to the kitchen to see what was in the refrigerator, finding only two bottles of mineral water.
He Hua returned to the living room to ask Bo Shuyi which brand of mineral water she preferred, only to see Bo Shuyi pinning Lin Nanyun against the wall and kissing her. A flush had risen to the corners of Bo Shuyi’s eyes, and her thick, dark eyelashes curled upward. Her profile possessed a fierce beauty. The two were kissing so passionately they seemed to have forgotten the world existed.
He Hua immediately turned around and went back to the kitchen. It seemed that whenever Lin Nanyun was around, she should avoid appearing as much as possible.
