The Blind Alpha Coveted by the Frail Beauty Omega - Chapter 13
Making Mi Ruian Angry
Wei Jiangxue froze for a moment, then lowered her head to sniff the jacket she had just taken off.
As expected, it was stained with the fruity, milky perfume scent that young girls loved most. Wei Jiangxue knew that the protagonist, Mi Ruian, didn’t like these messy scents because they triggered her aggression. Thus, Wei Jiangxue quickly walked to the balcony and tossed the jacket into the washing machine.
“It’s just a bit of perfume, don’t be such a germaphobe. It’ll be fine once it’s washed,” she said, brushing it off in the way characters do in movies.
Mi Ruian indeed stopped pursuing the matter. Wei Jiangxue guessed she was probably cursing her roommate in her heart for being impolite and coming home covered in chaotic smells every day.
[System 233: Your face is flushed red with excitement.]
Wei Jiangxue ignored the system’s sudden intrusion and slipped into the bathroom to wash her face; she needed Mi Ruian to help her with her styling later.
Splashing cold water on her face, Wei Jiangxue’s mind cleared slightly. “233, tell me, why is it that when someone becomes famous overnight, so many people see them and then like them?”
Being called by her online nickname by a stranger on the street, with the other person enthusiastically holding her hand and saying they liked her, made it hard for Wei Jiangxue not to feel apprehensive.
This kind of ethereal affection came quickly and would likely fade just as fast. Wei Jiangxue enjoyed the atmosphere, but she was also afraid she wouldn’t be able to stay in this environment forever.
“Being famous is so good… and I’m just a small streamer. I can’t imagine how wonderful the daily lives of those big stars must be.”
Listening to Wei Jiangxue’s murmurs, 233 remained silent.
Sometimes 233 truly felt it was better for the host to remain “blind” like this; it didn’t want the host to face malicious comments herself after regaining her sight. Many people cannot handle a single insult flashing through hundreds of compliments; they start questioning if they aren’t good enough, which is why opposing voices appear.
In reality, that wasn’t the case. Some people on the internet were purely looking for trouble.
The persona Wei Jiangxue had built on the streaming platform was flawless, yet it still couldn’t prevent people from picking fights.
Mi Ruian was noble-minded, upright, and kind, yet in the established storyline, she would still encounter all sorts of oddities—such as the cannon fodder Alpha roommate played by Wei Jiangxue.
However, regardless of whether Wei Jiangxue recovered her sight, 233 would do its best to clear away negative comments that might affect her mood in advance.
Oh, and then there was the patron Mi. Although 233 hadn’t communicated with her in detail, she also seemed intent on cracking down on the anti-fans who attacked and insulted Wei Jiangxue.
Feeling Mi Ruian’s hands weaving through her hair, a bored Wei Jiangxue attempted to strike up a conversation: “What flavor of cake do you like?”
“I don’t really like sweets.” Mi Ruian’s voice paused slightly. “Why? Are you going to give me a cake?”
Wei Jiangxue hadn’t intended to hide it from her anyway: “Even though you don’t follow streaming and all that, I have to tell you some good news. Ever since you started helping me with my makeup and styling, I feel like my stream has become a bit popular. So, I wanted to thank you.”
233, who was playing games while listening to their conversation, almost laughed out loud. Wei Jiangxue was being far too conservative—it was more than just “a bit” popular… Suddenly, 233’s character stopped moving. Wait, a minute. Wei Jiangxue’s videos haven’t been seen by Mi Ruian, have they?
But looking at Mi Ruian’s calm demeanor and the fact that she hadn’t hinted at anything to Wei Jiangxue, she likely remained in the dark…
The current relationship between Wei Jiangxue and Mi Ruian was also somewhat strange. Compared to the original plotline, the two of them were getting far too close. However, Wei Jiangxue’s OOC (Out of Character) level hadn’t risen. This situation had never happened with previous hosts during tasks, so even if 233 felt suspicious, it could only take things one step at a time.
233 suddenly felt it was being too paranoid, so it lay back down and resumed its game.
Mi Ruian’s hands, which were braiding hair, stiffened imperceptibly. What did Wei Jiangxue mean by this? She had already been paid her wages. Even if Wei Jiangxue wanted to reward an employee, she could just give a bonus.
Giving sweets…
She lowered her eyes slightly, looking at the oblivious Wei Jiangxue in the mirror, thinking that the girl still couldn’t quite hide her little schemes.
Mi Ruian’s suitors were as numerous as carp crossing a river, and their methods were endless. Giving food was the most common and the least competitive method.
After some thought, she said calmly, “Do you like eating desserts?”
Wei Jiangxue didn’t understand why the question had been tossed back to her, but she answered Mi Ruian seriously: “I do. They’re sweet, and don’t you think eating them makes you feel better? Plus, they usually look very beautiful…”
Halfway through, Wei Jiangxue’s throat seemed to be gripped, and the rest of her sentence vanished.
“…That was from before I lost my sight,” Wei Jiangxue said after a long silence. “Back then, whether I was in a good mood or bad, I would find beautiful, cute cafes and spend a lot of money to eat there.”
Actually, it was mainly to accompany her sister. Wei Jiangxue worked part-time during holidays to supplement the family income, and she would have a little money left each month. She would save it up to take her sister, Wei Meng, to eat something that would make her happy, so that Wei Meng would have more topics in common with her classmates.
Mi Ruian hadn’t expected her to proactively talk about the past. Regarding this Alpha she had met by chance, Mi Ruian didn’t know much. Although she had someone check Wei Jiangxue’s personal files a few days ago, looking at the list of “notorious deeds,” Mi Ruian couldn’t temporarily reconcile those stories with the actual Wei Jiangxue.
The black and white text clearly stated how rogue and overbearing this Alpha from the streets was. As for the blindness, it seemed to have appeared suddenly; there were no medical records in the file.
In Mi Ruian’s eyes, Wei Jiangxue sometimes behaved wickedly, but other times she was quite cute.
Rather than describing her as a thug or a lowlife, Mi Ruian felt that Wei Jiangxue was more like a cat that intentionally knocked over a water glass. Occasionally, when she didn’t get attention, she would purposefully stick her paw into the water glass to splash around just for fun.
Just yesterday, Wei Jiangxue had told Mi Ruian that she liked all kinds of beautiful desserts. When she woke up today, she smelled the sweet scent of cream in the living room.
[System 233: The protagonist received many deliveries this morning. I checked—it’s some dessert molds and ingredients.]
Wei Jiangxue quickly finished washing up and located the kitchen. She couldn’t see Mi Ruian’s movements, but she could hear her.
Wei Jiangxue didn’t intentionally dampen the sound of her arrival, not to mention she was standing boldly at the kitchen door. Mi Ruian only had to shift her gaze slightly to see the person at the door sniffing the aroma.
She smiled silently and said, “I’m using the stand mixer to make cream. Didn’t you say you like cake? I have a cake I like very much, I can make it for you to taste.”
“Is it a secret recipe?” Hearing Mi Ruian’s mysterious tone, Wei Jiangxue immediately grew expectant.
“It’s something my mother used to make for me when I was little. I don’t like sweets, but hers was an exception.” Mi Ruian lowered her eyes, carefully scraping the cream from the bowl into a piping bag. “It’s not a very complex recipe; it’s the most ordinary kind of cream cake.”
Mi Ruian had no selfish motives; she simply felt guilty for making Wei Jiangxue reminisce about her life before blindness yesterday.
Compared to never having had something, Mi Ruian believed that having had it and then losing it was much more painful. She didn’t know how Wei Jiangxue had adapted to her current life, but she was certain those days must have been extremely agonizing.
So, after tossing and turning in bed, the solution Mi Ruian came up with was to give Wei Jiangxue a small, handmade cake.
When her mother finished work and returned home during Mi Ruian’s childhood, she would often make this at Mi Ruian’s request. As she got older, Mi Ruian would pull her mother into the kitchen to teach her.
She had always been a quick learner in everything, except she could never find her footing in the kitchen. Mi Ruian thought about it; perhaps because everything else went so smoothly, she became overconfident and felt she was good at everything. This made her unwilling to strictly follow tutorials, often acting on “sudden inspiration,” which resulted in a failed dish every time.
Only after learning many lessons did Mi Ruian become willing to follow tutorials honestly. Yet, perhaps because she had failed too many times before, the bad luck persisted—either the cream failed to whip, or the jam was boiled until it tasted terrible…
But Mi Ruian believed that as long as she practiced enough, she could at least reach a passing grade.
It was with this conviction that Mi Ruian, who knew nothing about baking, managed to serve a perfect cake to her family after failing dozens of times.
But since her mother passed away, Mi Ruian hadn’t stepped into the kitchen for a long time.
She was truly uncertain about what kind of finished product she could produce today.
She sighed softly, and out of the corner of her eye, a figure approached. Mi Ruian immediately looked toward the door and saw Wei Jiangxue slowly shuffling over.
“What are you doing in here? I can do this alone,” Mi Ruian said, wanting her to go play outside.
“I’m here to help you.” Wei Jiangxue rolled up her sleeves, full of energy.
Seeing Wei Jiangxue volunteer for the labor, Mi Ruian couldn’t very well refuse her. She could only toss a piece of dough to Wei Jiangxue to knead, saying it could be baked and eaten later.
But in the blink of an eye, Mi Ruian found that Wei Jiangxue had managed to get flour all over herself, even in her hair.
Looking at Wei Jiangxue’s operation—adding water when there was too much flour, and adding flour when there was too much water—it didn’t seem to be a problem…
Mi Ruian held the piping bag and was silent for a few seconds. She was just about to tell Wei Jiangxue to leave the kitchen when, in the next moment, she saw Wei Jiangxue looking for a small bowl of flour, only to accidentally knock it over. The bowl flew straight toward Mi Ruian—
“…GET! OUT!” Mi Ruian snarled, protecting the cream piping bag in her arms.
She wiped her face, and after seeing the white layer of flour on her palm, she was completely speechless. Before Wei Jiangxue could try to placate her, Mi Ruian pushed the troublemaker out of the kitchen.
Through the glass door, Wei Jiangxue heard Mi Ruian’s grumbling voice. She turned her back secretly and revealed a smile of success. In her mind, the voice of 233 cheered in sync:
