The Black Lotus Omega Always Wraps His Tail Around Me - Chapter 59
Yesterday’s scene had drained Ji Yanwan emotionally.
So much so that when she got up the next morning, she felt completely weak and sluggish, her whole body heavy and spiritless.
Fu Suihe knew she was still deeply immersed in the role. In a rare moment of consideration, she took care of Ji Yanwan just like Ji Yanwan usually did for her. She even laid out clothes for her in advance.
The scenes left to shoot were all emotionally heavy. Ji Yanwan had to stay in the mindset of Lu Ming, someone who had fallen into complete despair and numbness.
The atmosphere on set was somber and weighed heavily on everyone.
As for Fu He, who had stolen the painting, she wasn’t faring much better. She had been working for the organization since she was seventeen. Over the years, she had remained diligent and focused. Her track record was still unmatched.
But this mission had left her unusually tired. For the first time, she found herself wanting to rest. All she could see in her mind was the look in Lu Ming’s eyes, filled with unbearable sorrow.
At first, it was just occasional thoughts. But gradually, they turned into nightmares.
In the past ten years, this wasn’t her first mission of this kind. She had deceived people out of items far more valuable than this painting, more times than she could count.
But only Lu Ming had left such a deep impression on her, to the point where he invaded her dreams.
Today’s shoot had the two of them working separately. In the movie, they were thousands of miles apart. But in real life, they were just filming next door to each other.
The mood on set was very heavy. It was so intense that no one could bear to keep watching.
Zhao Mumu, the screenwriter and original creator of the story, frowned constantly. Ji Yanwan and Fu Suihe were so well-matched in appearance and performance that they perfectly embodied the lead characters.
For a moment, Zhao felt as if the characters she had written had truly come alive, standing right in front of her.
Even Director Chen Fei’s voice when he called “Cut” was quieter than usual.
The once silent set suddenly came alive again, but the two leads remained seated, still caught in the emotion of the scene.
Sensing the heaviness in the air, Chen Fei tried to lighten the mood. “If all goes well, we’ll wrap up the main scenes in a day or two. After that, it’s just the detail shots. Any ideas for how we should celebrate?”
Ji Yanwan didn’t respond right away.
She suddenly realized that she had spent an entire spring and the beginning of summer with the crew. During this time, she wore Lu Ming’s costume every day. Since the film was set in autumn, her clothing never changed, and the constant repetition blurred her sense of the real seasons.
Being reminded that everything was coming to an end left her feeling dazed.
Chen Fei was still talking nearby. Other people were chiming in here and there.
But Ji Yanwan was no longer listening. Her phone buzzed in her pocket. When she opened it, the screen was full of messages from Meng Jiayu.
The latest one had just come in:
[Meng Jiayu]: Ah-Wan! My house arrest is finally lifted Ahhhh I’m coming to find you and hang out!
Just from the string of “Ahhhhs,” Ji Yanwan could picture Meng Jiayu’s happy face.
To be honest, she didn’t feel a particularly strong emotional attachment to this friend. But being stuck in Wuzhen’s small circle of social interaction for so long had made her crave the company of someone lively and energetic.
She put the phone back in her pocket. Just a moment ago, Fu Suihe had been sitting next to her. Now she was gone.
…
…
Standing in front of the person still in costume, Carrot forced herself to suppress the fear in her heart and met her eyes.
Fu Suihe frowned, looking clearly displeased. “You really care about that Zhao Mumu, don’t you?”
Her tone was blunt and her gaze was openly filled with contempt.
Carrot, caught off guard and directly hit in her most vulnerable spot, instantly turned pale.
All the courage she had just managed to gather disappeared in an instant. She asked in a trembling voice, “What do you mean?”
“What do I mean?” Fu Suihe gave a cold laugh. “You don’t know what I mean? When I ask you to do something, you stall and hesitate. But when it’s for Zhao Mumu, you’re all eager and willing?”
Carrot looked away and said quietly, “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“You don’t?” Fu Suihe narrowed her eyes. “Little rabbit, don’t pretend you don’t understand.”
She crossed her arms and leaned in closer, forcing Carrot to meet her eyes. “You like Zhao Mumu, don’t you? I get it. Working together for so long, feelings can grow. But does Zhao Mumu know that you’re a rabbit?”
“In other words, does she know you’re not human?”
The moment she finished speaking, Carrot, who had been shrinking away, suddenly raised her head.
Her eyes, usually timid and full of fear, were now filled with rage. They glowed a blood-red color as she glared at Fu Suihe. Her hands began to tremble uncontrollably.
Fu Suihe watched her, almost amused. “What, you want to hit me? I’m warning you, don’t get any funny ideas.”
“You may not be afraid to die, but are you sure Zhao Mumu isn’t?”
As soon as she said it, Carrot snapped.
She lunged forward, grabbed Fu Suihe by the throat, and slammed her against the wall in a frenzy.
Even rabbits will bite when they are pushed too far.
At that moment, all of Carrot’s reason was burned away. All she could think about was how Fu Suihe had threatened her, and even more unforgivably, threatened Zhao Mumu.
Her anger kept rising. The strength in her hands grew tighter and tighter.
Fu Suihe felt her breath getting thinner, but she didn’t get angry. Being choked actually awakened a dark, bloodthirsty thrill in her.
At some point, a long tail had silently uncurled from behind her. In an instant, it wrapped around Carrot’s neck and began to steal her breath.
Carrot’s red eyes flooded with blood. Her pupils rolled back, leaving only the whites visible.
Her hands, once clamped around Fu Suihe’s throat, dropped limply. She didn’t even struggle anymore.
Just as she was about to die, the long tail suddenly let go and slipped away.
Fu Suihe looked down coldly at the girl gasping on the floor at her feet.
