The Beautiful Wife I Picked Up Is A Little Mute - Chapter 4
Chapter 4: Where Have You Been?
Xie Mo sat on the soft leather seat, his fingertips gripping the hem of his coat tightly, sitting as if on a bed of nails.
He stared down at his knees, feeling as though he were in a bizarre dream—he never expected he would actually end up in the passenger seat of this strange Alpha.
The car was a model he had never seen before; the interior was spacious, with every detail of the layout exuding a sense of low-key luxury. In truth, he had no other way to leave besides getting into the car.
A nylon bag lay haphazardly in the back seat. Earlier, while passing that small path, Xie Mo had peered out the window and, with his sharp eyes, spotted it again. He had looked at Ji Hanyue imploringly, gesturing frantically with sign language.
For some reason, Ji Hanyue had a sudden lapse in judgment and humored him. He picked up the bag he had personally kicked into the green belt and tossed it into the car.
Then, he gave Xie Mo two thousand yuan, claiming he wanted that bag of “trash.” Xie Mo held the stack of crisp new bills, looking dazed and confused. This transaction was far too unfair, and he didn’t have any spare change to give Ji Hanyue back.
“If I give it to you, just take it.”
Ji Hanyue considered himself a reasonable Alpha; he knew he had indeed delayed the Omega’s time. Giving some money was only right.
However, an inexplicable irritability surged in his chest, impossible to suppress. Deep in his consciousness, something seemed to be clawing and thrashing against crimson barriers, unable to find an exit.
The Alpha’s expression was dark and somber, one hand gripping the steering wheel. His entire being radiated an aura of frustrated desire. The out-of-control Cypress wood pheromones rampaged through the cabin.
Perhaps because he was used to the scent, Xie Mo didn’t feel any discomfort.
Glancing sideways, Ji Hanyue saw the Omega huddled like a quail inside the coat that was several sizes too big for him, motionless. It was as if he were imprisoned by the garment. Sensing the gaze, Xie Mo tucked his neck in further.
Ji Hanyue forced his eyes away, his knuckles tightening on the wheel. The earlier moment of relief had been fleeting; now, that burning sensation was surging again. But he knew clearly that he could not touch the Omega beside him.
Fortunately, threads of sweet fragrance unconsciously released by the Omega drifted through the car, making it slightly more bearable.
“What’s your name?”
Ji Hanyue tried to distract himself. Using his previous method, he opened the memo app on his phone and pushed it toward Xie Mo.
Inside his car, Xie Mo didn’t dare provoke him. He obediently typed his name on the keyboard:
——Xie Mo.
Ji Hanyue glanced at it, repeated the name twice in his mind, and shoved the phone back into his pocket.
The two didn’t speak again—one was suppressing the onset of his rut, and the other was physically unable to speak. The cabin was filled only with an awkward silence.
Following the address Xie Mo provided, Ji Hanyue drove away from the city center. Gradually, he realized the direction was becoming more and more remote.
Ji Hanyue had never been to this area. He hadn’t even realized that within the vast, prosperous A-City, there existed such a dilapidated and gloomy place.
Xie Mo, on the other hand, breathed a sigh of relief once he recognized the road; the Alpha finally hadn’t lied to him. He tugged at Ji Hanyue’s sleeve, signaling that he could be dropped off right here.
Ji Hanyue shot him a look and frowned. “Didn’t I say? I’m taking you home.”
This left Xie Mo stunned. If Tang Yingrui saw him with another Alpha… Xie Mo couldn’t even bear to imagine such a scene.
The Omega pouted again, clutching Ji Hanyue’s forearm and shaking it gently.
“What?”
Driven by the rut, the Alpha’s voice was deep and hoarse, his brow furrowed with unshakeable irritation.
Xie Mo pointed out the window and shook his head. Knowing the Alpha couldn’t understand sign language, he chose the simplest way to protest.
Ji Hanyue stared down at the hand gripping him, his dark gaze sweeping over the Omega’s face. Suddenly, he slammed on the gas.
Xie Mo was thrown forward by the inertia. Just as his back hit the seat again, Ji Hanyue leaned over him. Hot, damp breath fanned against his ear, and Xie Mo’s body instantly tensed up.
Ji Hanyue unclipped his seatbelt. His eyes were level with the Omega’s rapidly twitching nose.
“…Release more pheromones,” Ji Hanyue said suddenly.
Xie Mo’s eyes blinked slowly as he looked up at the Alpha who was inches away, not understanding his intent. Ji Hanyue’s broad shoulders almost completely enveloped him, and the Cypress pheromones, heavy with body heat, pressed down on him, making the small space feel even more claustrophobic.
Seeing that the other was still dazed, Ji Hanyue’s voice grew sharper. “Are you a mute and deaf?”
The Omega pheromones in the car were fading, and Ji Hanyue didn’t want to lose focus and crash the car mid-way.
Frightened by the loud voice, Xie Mo shrank back. Pheromones scented like Nutmeg, tinged with fear, poured out of him desperately.
Ji Hanyue’s pulse throbbed at his temples. He sensed the boy’s fear, yet he intensely enjoyed the scent. His tone softened slightly. “Once the car is filled with pheromones, you can leave.”
It was a strange way to ask for a favor, but Xie Mo had no choice. He lowered his head and closed his eyes, forcing himself to release his pheromones.
As more and more pheromones seeped from his pores, Xie Mo felt the strength leave his limbs and his consciousness grow hazy. Only then did Ji Hanyue press the unlock button and tell him he could go.
As if hearing a pardon, Xie Mo scrambled out of the car door and stumbled away.
Watching the frail figure disappear into the distance, Ji Hanyue stared at the coat on the passenger seat. The coat carried the Omega’s scent, and the Omega now carried his.
After a long silence, Ji Hanyue suddenly let out a cold laugh and turned the car around.
…
Xie Mo tremblingly pulled his keys from his pocket. However, before he could even insert the key into the lock, the door swung open.
“Where have you been?”
The dim hallway and the pitch-black darkness inside the doorway merged into one. Only a single red ember flickered intermittently.
Tang Yingrui stood there with a cigarette, looking down at the Omega outside the door.
Xie Mo’s breathing grew faint. He rarely lied, so his hands shook as he gestured:
“I went to A-University. There were many plastic bottles there. I sold them for a lot of money, so I came back late.”
