Chapter 26: Huo Yan Still Wanted to Kiss Him
Huo Yan was referring to the matter of the temporary marking.
Xu Jingchu, however, thought he was talking about them becoming friends. He nodded and said, “If it’s inconvenient for you, I can go in by myself.”
Seeing that the boy didn’t deny it, a surge of immense joy suddenly welled up in Huo Yan’s heart. Although now truly wasn’t the ideal time for a “meet the parents” scenario, since the boy’s parents wanted to see him, there was no way he would refuse.
“They are your parents,” Huo Yan unbuckled his seatbelt, his eyes gentle and his expression serious. “There is nothing inconvenient for me.”
Hearing this, Xu Jingchu felt inexplicably happy.
The two got out of the car and walked into A University together.
Both possessed striking good looks, and walking together, they looked like a piece of pleasing scenery, quickly attracting the attention of many people.
“Isn’t that Xu Jingchu from the Fine Arts department? Is the man next to him the one from the photos???”
“Looking at his build, it seems like it.”
“How does he dare bring the man directly into the school?”
“He’s just shameless, I guess. But wait, why does that man look a bit familiar?”
…
People nearby were gossiping, thinking they were being quiet.
Xu Jingchu didn’t react, but Huo Yan’s gaze swept coldly toward the speakers. Despite having that same handsome and refined face, he gave off an aura like a sudden frost, making them shudder involuntarily.
As the gossipers were left behind, Xu Jingchu took the man’s hand and curved his lips into a smile. “Don’t be angry. We know what kind of people we are. It’s not worth getting upset over false, fabricated rumors from others.”
He wasn’t stupid; although there were some things he didn’t quite understand, he could still feel the malice others directed at him.
With a distance still to go before the sports field, Huo Yan squeezed the boy’s hand—which was a size smaller than his own—and said in a low voice, “How are you so good?”
Xu Jingchu tilted his head slightly to look at him. “Is this considered ‘good’?” His eyes were dark and bright, as if tempered with countless starlight. “I just think being happy is more important than they are.”
Their eyes met, and for a moment, Huo Yan was speechless.
His Omega was truly too good—so good it made his heart ache.
Xu Jingchu suddenly stood on his tiptoes and reached out to pat the man’s head gently three times. “One, two, three—all worries fly away. Don’t be angry anymore.”
In his past life, his family used to coax him like this too.
Huo Yan stared unblinkingly at the boy in front of him.
After a few seconds, the man leaned down slightly until his forehead pressed against Xu Jingchu’s. He whispered, “Mm, I’m not angry anymore.”
It was an extremely intimate posture. Huo Yan only needed to move forward another two centimeters to kiss the boy’s soft lips.
Sensing that the breath falling on the tip of his nose was becoming increasingly scorching, Xu Jingchu’s cheeks flushed slightly. He whispered, “Dad and Mom are still waiting for us.”
His clear, soft voice sounded like a shy, coquettish plea.
Xu Jingchu was indeed feeling shy; he felt as if Huo Yan wanted to kiss him again.
It was one thing back in the car, but now they were out in public…
Huo Yan pulled himself together and took a deep breath, his voice turning husky. “Sorry.”
The boy was simply too tempting; he was losing a bit of control.
As the two reached a corner, a figure suddenly crashed toward them.
Huo Yan reacted quickly, grabbing Xu Jingchu to dodge out of the way. The person who had rushed at them couldn’t stop in time and fell face-first onto the ground with a “thud.”
“Are you al—”
Just as Xu Jingchu started to speak, he was pulled sharply into Huo Yan’s embrace.
He looked up in confusion. “?”
Huo Yan gripped the boy’s wrist with one hand and rested the other on his shoulder, locking him in his arms while staring coldly at the person on the ground.
Xu Yiqiu lay on the ground for a moment. After confirming the two people nearby weren’t going to help him up, he bit his lip and slowly climbed up himself.
Xu Yiqiu adjusted his crooked black-rimmed glasses and glanced at Huo Yan with a timid look. “I… I’m sorry…”
His face was very pale, and his frail body made him look pitiful, but it failed to evoke even a shred of pity from Huo Yan.
Xu Jingchu recognized him. “It’s you?”
Xu Yiqiu shrunk back, deliberately letting his face be fully visible to Huo Yan before hurriedly lowering his head in a fearful manner. “I… I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to. I was just too hungry, I didn’t see clearly just now…”
Before he could finish his sentence, he realized the two people next to him had already stepped past him… and left?
Xu Yiqiu was stunned for a second. He whipped his head around to look, only to see the villain—who in his dreams loved him to the point of losing his mind—holding the beautiful Omega’s hand intimately. The two figures, one tall and one short, walked side by side under the dim yellow streetlights of the campus, looking… exceptionally well-matched.
Xu Yiqiu was shocked, stunned, and in disbelief!
Didn’t the villain just see his face? Why did he leave?! The villain hadn’t even asked who he was, what his name was, or left any contact information. How could he just leave?!!
Xu Yiqiu trembled all over, muttering neurotically: “No… no… something must have gone wrong. Where is the problem… where exactly did it go wrong…”
Suddenly, his pupils shrank. “That’s it… who is that Omega? Is it because of him…”
On the other side.
Xu Jingchu looked back once. “So he’s at A University too.” He asked Huo Yan curiously, “Last time he was trying to scam us, what about this time?”
Huo Yan had absolutely no interest in Xu Yiqiu. The only reason he hadn’t directly laid a hand on the guy was thanks to the good upbringing his parents gave him in the first eighteen years of his life. Until Xu Yiqiu actually did something, Huo Yan wouldn’t go out of his way to cause trouble, but if the other party was foolish enough to provoke him, he definitely wouldn’t hold back.
A few minutes later, Xu Jingchu finally saw two familiar figures under a tree by the sports field.
Worried that Huo Yan might be nervous, Xu Jingchu took the initiative to hold his hand, whispering words of comfort: “Don’t worry, my parents are very nice people. They won’t do anything to you.”
Huo Yan wasn’t actually afraid, but since it was his first time meeting a partner’s parents, he was naturally a bit uneasy.
Even when they reached the parents, Xu Jingchu didn’t let go of the man’s hand.
Mr. and Mrs. Xu looked at the tightly held hands. It wasn’t hard to see that it was their own son who was holding on with a strong sense of possessiveness.
the two parents exchanged a glance. Mr. Xu’s eyes showed a mix of displeasure and helplessness, while Mrs. Xu seemed quite satisfied.
Mrs. Xu’s beautiful eyes swept over the growing crowd around them. Her voice was pleasant: “Baby, why aren’t you calling for Mommy?”
The tips of Xu Jingchu’s ears instantly turned red, and he instinctively glanced at Huo Yan.
Whether in his past life or now, he was an adult. Being called “Baby” in front of an outsider was always a bit embarrassing.
“Mommy,” Xu Jingchu called softly, “Daddy.”
As soon as he spoke, a chorus of gasps could be heard from the surrounding onlookers.
Mrs. Xu was satisfied. She tilted her chin toward Huo Yan and smiled brilliantly. “Aren’t you going to introduce us?”
Xu Jingchu pulled Huo Yan forward, showing a rare bit of childishness, his eyes sparkling: “Daddy, Mommy, this is my friend, Huo Yan.”
“Friend…” Mrs. Xu trailed off, giving another meaningful look at their joined hands. “Our Chu-bao has a simple personality. Thank you for taking care of him, Mr. Huo.”
