The Arrogant Young Master Targeted by the Overbearing President - Chapter 9
Chapter 9: Want to?
Half an hour later, Lu Siyang turned the car onto a deserted asphalt road. The road wasn’t wide, only enough for one vehicle to travel in one direction, and the dense bushes on both sides squeezed the path even narrower.
After a few hundred meters, between the crisscrossing branches at the end of the road, a gate surrounded by an iron fence appeared. The arched sign above the gate had weathered the wind and rain to the point that most of its colorful paint had peeled off, leaving only a few rusted and faded large characters that could vaguely be identified as “XX Amusement Park.”
Lu Siyang turned off the engine, parked outside the gate, and got out of the car. Weeds grew thick outside the amusement park, and climbing vines snaking out from the cracks in the bricks wound around the rust-spotted iron gate. Stepping over half-withered branches and leaves, he went around the iron fence, kicked a foot onto the lock of the iron gate, and flipped inside with practiced ease.
The darkening sky enveloped this abandoned amusement park. At a glance, the overwhelming sense of decay felt incredibly oppressive. Lu Siyang followed the rugged path and turned straight toward the clearing on the right. This place had originally been a climbing frame area, but now only an earthen slope overgrown with wild grass remained.
Lu Siyang found the highest point and, regardless of whether he would be covered in grass debris and mud, lay flat on his back. Not far away, a massive circular structure stood silently in the dark night.
Lu Siyang propped his head on his arms, staring at the Ferris wheel without blinking. Every year for his birthday when he was a child, his parents would bring him to the amusement park. Back then, the Lu family wasn’t the Lu family of today; there were no fine clothes or expensive food, no luxury mansions. Yet, he still felt satisfied. Later, his mother passed away, and his father was busy beyond belief, but on every birthday, he would still squeeze out a day to accompany him to ride the Ferris wheel.
Later still, the amusement park facilities became increasingly dilapidated and eventually closed down. As he slowly grew up and the Lu family became the Lu family of today, his annual birthdays turned into all-night revelries with his fair-weather friends in the social circle. Only, for some unknown reason, he had started this habit. He would come here alone and quietly watch the Ferris wheel for a while.
Ring—
The ringtone of a mobile phone pierced the silent night, pulling him back from his thoughts. Lu Siyang looked at the number on the phone screen, his gaze shifting, and finally, he pressed the hang-up button. But the other party called back persistently; after hanging up three times, Lu Siyang simply turned the phone off. Staring at the compartments of the Ferris wheel where the iron sheeting was already exposed, the exhaustion and weariness in the depths of his eyes leaked out in an instant.
Lu Siyang took a deep breath and slowly closed his eyes; the Ferris wheel began to turn slowly in his mind. A cool breeze, accompanied by the scent of unknown plants, drifted over faintly. Lu Siyang gradually smoothed his brow, enjoying this moment of comfort and peace.
Creak—
In a daze, he suddenly heard an abrupt footstep in the quiet park area, and Lu Siyang snapped his eyes open. He sat up and turned his head toward the sound. The other’s tall silhouette emerged from the crowded shrubbery path. In the darkness, the cigarette between the other’s teeth glowed with a scarlet fire. The flickering light reflected the other’s arrogant and uninhibited face, making it look even more deep and cold in the pitch-black night. With just one look, Lu Siyang withdrew his gaze.
The rustling sound of trampled weeds grew closer, and Fang Lv’s unique deep voice rang out beside him: “Why didn’t you answer the phone?”
Lu Siyang only stared somberly at the night sky not far away, not responding. After waiting a while and seeing that he didn’t speak, Fang Lv asked somewhat indistinctly with the cigarette between his teeth: “Not going home?”
Lu Siyang closed his eyes and turned his head, his tone flat: “Put out the cigarette.”
“What,” Fang Lv sat down beside him and moved the cigarette a bit further away, “Don’t like the smell of smoke?”
Lu Siyang brushed off the grass debris stuck to his suit jacket and said nonchalantly: “The ground here is full of dry grass; if a spark falls on it and the wind blows, it’ll catch. I haven’t lived long enough yet; I don’t want to self-immolate.”
“Is that so.” Fang Lv chuckled, walked to a nearby cartoon-shaped trash can to press out the cigarette, and then sat back down. “Why haven’t you contacted me these past few days?”
Lu Siyang turned his head and met Fang Lv’s gaze. The light gray pupils held a serious look, as if he were truly seeking an answer. For a moment, he almost blurted out the question of who the man at the bar entrance was that evening. On second thought, he felt he was being ridiculous. This talk was truly meaningless; between him and Fang Lv, they had just slept together a few times and were barely considered compatible. Aside from that, they were not at all in a relationship where he was qualified to ask such questions.
He shifted the topic and answered with a different question: “How did you know I was here?”
Fang Lv pointed to the car key that had fallen out of his pocket: “A luxury car like a LaFerrari—in the entire Shan Province, President Lu is the only one who has one.”
His words carried a bit of teasing. If it had been a normal time, Lu Siyang would have retorted long ago, but he just smiled and didn’t speak. This car was a birthday gift from his father when he turned a year older last year. At the time, he only thought about how flashy the car would be to drive; seeing the envious looks of the other young masters made him feel comfortable all over.
Now that he thought about it, this one car was worth ten times more than the money he donated today; thinking of this, he couldn’t smile at all. If his father were around, Lu Corporation wouldn’t have all these shitty, messy problems; not only would they not be losing money, they might have even made enough for ten LaFerraris… Thinking of this, Lu Siyang stared blankly at the Ferris wheel, his chest feeling stifled and congested.
Fang Lv stared at him for a long time from the side and suddenly spoke: “Do you want to do it?”
Now? In a place like this?! What on earth was Fang Lv thinking?!!
Lu Siyang even thought he had misheard. He turned back and stared at Fang Lv in shock: “Is that the only thing in your head?”
Fang Lv froze, realizing what he meant, and his expression for a moment was caught between laughter and tears.
“I mean,” Fang Lv pinched Lu Siyang’s chin, forcing him to look up and face straight ahead, “this—”
Snap—
Bright floodlights suddenly lit up, illuminating half the night sky. The Ferris wheel, whose colored paint had mostly peeled off, suddenly lit up in the dark night. The decorative lights surrounding the Ferris wheel flashed with multicolored light. Vibrant lines shot out one by one toward the surroundings, illuminating every corner.
Lu Siyang, his chin held by Fang Lv, stared with wide eyes at the dreamlike scene. Those changing lights were reflected in his eyes. The massive Ferris wheel began to rotate slowly in his pupils. Cheerful music sounded in the amusement park at the right time; the leaping notes struck his pupils, his body, and his heart one by one.
Lu Siyang turned his head with an incredible light in his eyes. He opened his mouth but didn’t know what to say. Fang Lv grabbed his hand, enveloping it in his dry, warm palm. Seeming to feel his tremor, Fang Lv’s fingers pressed hard on his fingertips, asking the question from before once more: “Do you want to ride it?”
Only then did Lu Siyang react to what Fang Lv had asked earlier. He felt as if his brain was unable to think, only looking at Fang Lv while repeating the same words: “…Why… why do this…”
Fang Lv… why do all this…
They… they were just bed partners—no, they weren’t even considered bed partners. They were just fck buddies who had met a few times and had nothing to do with each other once they got out of bed. Why would Fang Lv do this…
His dazed expression made Fang Lv chuckle.
“There aren’t that many whys,” Fang Lv leaned in, pinched his earlobe, and whispered softly, “it’s just a little reward for a kid who did a good deed.”
Lu Siyang looked back; as their gazes met, the depths of Fang Lv’s eyes were like a silent lake under the moonlight. He accidentally stepped into it, ripples spreading out one by one, and the gentle moonlight poured over him in an instant.
Fang Lv pulled up Lu Siyang, who was still sitting on the ground in a daze, and dragged him by the hand toward the Ferris wheel. Lu Siyang felt as if he were having a dream; in a muddle, he was led onto the Ferris wheel by Fang Lv. By the time he recovered his senses, he had already been taken high into the air.
Watching the Ferris wheel rise bit by bit, the emotions that had been suppressed in his heart for a long time surged up with it. He felt his body trembling; those things he had forgotten that had been silent for a long time seemed to be re-occupying his brain bit by bit. The Ferris wheel rose higher and higher, and his chest felt as if it were being inflated by some inexplicable emotion. He leaned against the wall of the compartment; through the glass, he seemed to be able to see the bright lights of the city center far away. It was as if he had been taken away from the mortal world, away from the noise; at this moment, this place allowed him to forget the confusion and defeat accumulated in his chest.
His finger was gently squeezed, and only then did Lu Siyang realize that his hand had been held in Fang Lv’s palm the whole time. Fang Lv asked softly: “Do you like it?”
Lu Siyang turned around and bumped right into Fang Lv’s eyes, which carried a faint heat. Lu Siyang instinctively nodded, but in the next second, he turned his head and snorted: “It’s just a Ferris wheel; it’s not like I’m a kid.”
But his trembling fingertips and the leaping light in his eyes betrayed his attempt at concealment. Fang Lv didn’t care about his duplicity; with a slight pull, he brought the whole person onto his lap.
Feeling the other’s burning breath hitting his face, Lu Siyang broke free from Fang Lv’s arms, his eyes full of shock: “Fang Lv, are you crazy?!”
“Don’t move,” Fang Lv clamped down on his waist, his tone brook no argument, “I don’t know how long it’s been since this thing was started; if you move again, we might fall down before we even reach the top.”
As if to verify Fang Lv’s words, a creaking sound from the long-unrepaired joints above rang out at the right time. Lu Siyang’s face turned pale; he hadn’t even thought about the fact that this amusement park had been closed for five or six years, and the Ferris wheel certainly hadn’t been maintained or cared for. How had he gotten a hot head and followed him up? What if… thinking of this, he shuddered, his back stiffening.
“You don’t move either!” Lu Siyang’s voice was suppressed with a tremble, carrying a sense of caution, “Are you crazy? What if we—mhm—”
