- Chapter 51.1 - Infatuated — I’ll Make Sure You Can’t Get Out of Bed!
Before meeting Yu Xuanji, Cang Lan never bothered to dress herself up. She spent her days clad in a single set of black robes, her hair pulled back haphazardly or sometimes left disheveled as she sat wherever she pleased, completely unconcerned with her appearance.
But ever since Yu Xuanji arrived, it was as if Cang Lan had become a different person. Whether sitting or standing—even her sleeping posture—everything had to be meticulously designed. She even went so far as to maintain her scales daily, ensuring they looked ever more pitch-black and translucent.
The woman and the dragon became entangled on the white jade bed for a while before Cang Lan shifted into her original form. She coiled herself tightly around Yu Xuanji, leaving not a single gap, refusing to let even her neck go as she pressed against every inch of skin.
The soft, cool tip of her tail brushed back and forth against Yu Xuanji’s lips. The golden bell tied to the tip swayed and chimed with Cang Lan’s movements. She lay prone against Yu Xuanji’s chest, using the nimble tip of her tail to rub against Yu Xuanji’s chin, asking with a smile: “Wife, do I look good?”
Yu Xuanji caught the tip of the tail that was attempting to slip between her lips, kneading it in her palm for a moment before saying, “You truly look exquisite.”
Cang Lan asked relentlessly, “Then tell me, Wife, where exactly do I look good?”
Yu Xuanji originally wanted to compare Cang Lan’s tail to fine jade and recite some poetic praise, but after a moment’s thought, she decided to speak in more colloquial terms: “Your tail is thick, strong, and powerful… mmm… your scales are as beautiful as black jade. You look good everywhere.”
Cang Lan was utterly satisfied. “That’s more like it. Wife, you really know how to give a compliment—but you can only praise me and no one else, okay?”
Little dragon, she’s quite possessive.
Yu Xuanji thought to herself and gave Cang Lan plenty of “face”: “Fine, you are the treasure of my heart. I have no eyes for anyone else.”
Cang Lan curled up in Yu Xuanji’s arms, but after a while, she couldn’t help but voice the question in her heart: “Wife, lately I keep having dreams. I dream of things related to you.”
Yu Xuanji’s brow furrowed slightly. “Related to me?”
Cang Lan nodded. “Yes. I dreamed of you when you were young. My head is full of how you looked at sixteen. But it’s just a dream; I don’t know if you actually looked like that.”
Yu Xuanji pursed her lips slightly and said, “What you think of by day, you dream of by night. You see my face every day; why would you still dream of it?”
Cang Lan shook her head. “I don’t know. I actually want to record the dreams, but once I wake up, I forget many of the things I saw. I even almost forget your face. But whenever I try desperately to remember, a piercing pain shoots through my head, and eventually, I forget again.”
Yu Xuanji pondered for a moment. “Dreams are like that. Ming Huang warned you before to think less about the things in your dreams. If this continues for a long time, you’ll be eroded by the dreamscape, trapped within it, unable to distinguish between dream and reality.”
Cang Lan sighed and thought about it. “But Wife, I’m really happy in the dreams. I’ve never seen you when you were young and don’t know what you looked like. If only I could draw it.”
Yu Xuanji glanced at the “little dragon-man” doodle on the table and couldn’t help but laugh. “How about I teach you how to draw? There’s nothing to do in the Barren Lands anyway. We can’t just sleep all day. Sleeping during the day and then at night—one’s body won’t be able to take it.”
Cang Lan swatted the bed with her tail in dissatisfaction. Remembering how she had cracked the hard, sturdy white jade bed a few days ago, she felt a lingering fear and quietly pulled her tail back.
Yu Xuanji added, “You are a dragon, and I am a human. Although I’ve consumed quite a bit of dragon essence and blood, I am still a mortal body. If we keep going like this, my body will break.”
Cang Lan poked at the white jade bed with one hand, grumbling unhappily, “I just wanted to make you feel good, Wife. Doing it more has no downsides. Absorbing dragon essence can even prolong your life. It’s killing two birds with one stone; there are no drawbacks at all.”
What Cang Lan said was true. After being entangled with her for so long, Yu Xuanji noticed her body seemed younger, her skin firmer. When she looked in the mirror, she appeared several years younger, glowing with health; it wasn’t just her imagination.
Yu Xuanji thought it over and said with a smile, “True, that is the case. However, if we continue without any restraint, my whole body gets sore, and my legs get so weak I can’t even stand.”
Cang Lan’s eyes darted around. “If you can’t stand, then I’ll carry you. You have me, Wife; why would you need to stand on your own?”
“…”
Yu Xuanji was speechless. Just as she was about to lie down, Cang Lan embraced her from behind. Her lips pressed against Yu Xuanji’s ear as she giggled, “Wife, since you’ve acknowledged the benefits, then—”
Before she could finish, Yu Xuanji turned her head and dodged toward the edge of the bed. “No.”
Cang Lan pursued her closely, her chest pressed against Yu Xuanji’s back. She buried her face in Yu Xuanji’s neck for a moment, taking a deep breath of her scent. “Wife, don’t be so duplicitous, playing hard to get. You have me in your heart; I know you want to do it with me, you’re just too embarrassed to say it. Don’t be like this.”
Yu Xuanji couldn’t help but laugh at her choice of words. “So that’s how ‘playing hard to get’ is used? By the way, who taught you these words? I’ve never said them in front of you.”
Cang Lan blurted out without thinking, “Tushan Bai! She taught me many ways to seduce women. I’ve learned most of them.”
The smile on Yu Xuanji’s lips gradually froze. “What did you just say? Ways to seduce women? Who have you used them on?”
Cang Lan propped up her upper body and stared intently into Yu Xuanji’s eyes. “Wife, I’ve used them all on you. You’re just too dense and didn’t notice my intentions. Now you’re scolding me; it really breaks a dragon’s heart.”
Yu Xuanji turned around, confused. “But I’ve never seen any of that?”
Cang Lan blinked at Yu Xuanji, her eyelids fluttering like a butterfly’s wings. She bared her teeth in a grin and said, “This is it!”
Yu Xuanji was stunned. “What kind of move is this?”
Cang Lan’s eyelids started to cramp from the blinking. She rubbed her eyes and said, “This move is called ‘Sending Autumn Ripples’ (making eyes). Wife, I did it quite charmingly, didn’t I?”
Yu Xuanji gave a dry laugh. “Indeed, quite… quite beautiful.”
Cang Lan pouted. “But why didn’t you have a reaction? I already sent you autumn ripples. You should be madly in love with me right now, hugging me while kissing me and confessing your love.”
Yu Xuanji symbolically wrapped her arms around Cang Lan’s back. “I love you. I’ve long been madly in love with you. Can’t you tell?”
Cang Lan leaned in and kissed Yu Xuanji’s soft, pale-red lips. “Of course I know!”
Yu Xuanji curled her lips and asked again, “What else did Tushan Bai teach you? Let me hear these ‘good’ methods.”
Cang Lan recounted everything Tushan Bai had taught her: “Besides ‘Sending Autumn Ripples,’ there’s ‘Conveying Affection with a Glance,’ ‘Flaunting One’s Charms,’ and many more.”
“Flaunting one’s charms?” Yu Xuanji took a deep breath and offered a warm tip: “That should be called ‘Swaying with Grace.'”
Cang Lan said, “I don’t care about this grace or that charm; as long as it attracts you, Wife, it’s enough.”
Yu Xuanji finally understood one thing. No wonder she had felt Cang Lan was acting a bit strange lately—blinking constantly and performing inexplicable little movements. It turned out she was wooing her.
But at first, she had foolishly thought Cang Lan had some kind of parasite on her and was worried sick. She hadn’t expected all the mysteries to be solved today. It was her misunderstanding.
Seeing Yu Xuanji spacing out, Cang Lan waved her hand in front of her eyes. “Wife, can you really not tell? I’m learning very, very seriously. Tushan Bai said I have talent; I’m just a bit stiff. With more practice, I’ll be able to make you infatuated, and you’ll naturally love me to death.”
Yu Xuanji asked with a smile, “She told you all that?”
Cang Lan nodded, inadvertently selling out Tushan Bai. “Yes, she said so. To learn these skills, I even paid a lot of ‘tuition.’ Who would have thought it would be useless? You actually said I was sick. I’m strong and healthy; do I look like someone who’s sick?”
Yu Xuanji desperately suppressed the upward curve of her lips. “No, no. It’s my fault for being too dense and not noticing. Don’t be sad. Kisses, kisses.”
Like coaxing a child, Yu Xuanji cupped Cang Lan’s cheeks and kissed her lips.
Cang Lan’s tongue pressed against the seam of Yu Xuanji’s lips, trying to pry open her teeth to slip inside, but she was caught red-handed.
Yu Xuanji shook her head. “No French kissing. I don’t want to eat any more dragon saliva. The more I eat, the harder it is to get out of bed. I asked Tushan Bai for some vegetable seeds; tomorrow we have to reclaim our vegetable garden. We have to wake up early to work.”
Cang Lan started throwing a tantrum again. “I don’t want to! Leave the planting to Huang Liu and the others. I want to be close to you, Wife. I want to French kiss you! I want to! I’m going to make sure you can’t get out of bed!”
Seeing Cang Lan being so unreasonable, Yu Xuanji had no choice. She deliberately turned her head away, performing a textbook version of “playing hard to get”: “No. Wake up early tomorrow to plant vegetables. Go to sleep now. Take your hand out of my clothes. Tonight, no tails, no hands, and especially no mouths!”
Met with Yu Xuanji’s stern refusal, Cang Lan climbed up in a huff, quickly stripped off her outer robes, threw them under the bed, and hugged Yu Xuanji from behind without a word, rubbing against her in an attempt at seduction.
While rubbing, Cang Lan said in a soft, wheedling voice, “Wife, I have such a good body and you won’t use it. Do you really not want it?”
Yu Xuanji bit her lower lip and said firmly, “I don’t.”
The tail gradually climbed up her waist. Yu Xuanji let out a muffled groan, then heard Cang Lan whisper in her ear, “Wife, a few days ago you said you wanted to make little dragons with me, that you wanted to give me a clutch of dragon eggs. Have you forgotten?”
Yu Xuanji hunched her shoulders and tried to dodge, saying stiffly, “I’m not having them with you anymore.”
But Cang Lan didn’t give her a chance to escape, continuing her seduction: “Wife, it really feels good. You cried out so beautifully before; it must have been wonderful. Give me another chance. You even told me to practice more—practice with my tail and my hands—but I haven’t even used my hands yet—”
Yu Xuanji truly couldn’t take it anymore. She sat up abruptly, quickly untied her sash, and pulled off her inner robes, letting them mingle with Cang Lan’s black ones. She closed her eyes and said, “Fine, come.”
Cang Lan pounced with a giggle, her eyes shining with the joy of getting her way.
Meanwhile, with An Zhi and Ting Lan, the Ginseng Baby was sleeping soundly and even snoring lightly, but the two of them were kept awake by the laughter and sounds of play coming from the main chamber next door.
The sound insulation in the cave was decent, but those two were being far too loud. They were acting as if the other two weren’t even there—though they weren’t human, they shouldn’t be subjected to this kind of torture every day.
An Zhi stared blankly at the ceiling. She poked Ting Lan, who was lying beside her. “Are you asleep?”
Ting Lan shook her head. “No.”
An Zhi said, “Our cultivation isn’t deep enough. If we had even a fraction of that dragon’s power, we could turn this cave into a fortress of copper and iron so that no sound could leak through.”
Hearing this, Ting Lan took a stack of talismans from her bag, drew a few strokes in the air with two fingers, and slapped the talisman onto the cave door. In the blink of an eye, golden light flared, and a faint golden barrier appeared at the entrance, sealing out all sound.
An Zhi couldn’t help but widen her eyes. “How do you know how to do that?”
Ting Lan sighed helplessly. “The Master taught us. She taught us so many incantations and Taoist techniques, but you were always too lazy to listen, so of course you don’t know.”
An Zhi smiled. “Well, I have you! With our relationship, as long as we stay together, if you learn it, it’s as good as me learning it, right?”
Ting Lan: “…”
An Zhi changed the subject. “Do you think the Master has been possessed? She smiles at that dragon every day. No matter what trouble it causes, she just laughs it off. She’s always on its side, sometimes even ignoring right and wrong. The Master was never this kind of person before.”
Ting Lan thought for a moment. “Have you ever heard the term ‘double standard’?”
An Zhi had a sudden realization. “I get it. Master only gives the cold shoulder to people other than Cang Lan. It turns out we just aren’t worthy.”
Ting Lan looked up at the golden barrier and sighed. “It’s not our place to comment on such things. After all these years the Master endured, wasn’t it all just to meet this dragon again? If she didn’t have that obsession, she might have followed this dragon to the grave long ago.”
