The Amnesiac Drama Queen Is Crashing the Live Stream - Chapter 31.2
They were married, their relationship was legitimate, and after three years, they could practically be considered an old married couple. There were still many long days ahead.
No matter how they lived, they had to keep going, might as well make the best of it. She wasn’t one to be overly dramatic.
Xia Xingtang waved a hand. “Well, hurry up then. I’m exhausted and need a nap. And when I’m sleepy, my temper isn’t great. If you get bitten, don’t blame me.”
She still clung to a sliver of hope, trying to scare Pei Luoqing into backing off with a few harsh words.
Unexpectedly, Pei Luoqing moved to sit by the bed. “It’s not like I haven’t been bitten by you before.”
Xia Xingtang’s fingers curled slightly.
Can’t you just talk normally? Does bullying someone younger make you that proud?
Too lazy to engage, Xia Xingtang burrowed under the covers, closing her eyes like a lifeless fish.
She’d sleep her own sleep, and Pei Luoqing could kiss her however she pleased, neither would bother the other.
The electric curtains finally sealed off the last sliver of light, leaving only the soft glow of the bedside lamp Pei Luoqing had just turned on.
Darkness enveloped the room in profound silence, broken only by Xia Xingtang’s shallow breaths.
As soon as her head hit the pillow, drowsiness washed over her, and her consciousness began to blur.
Until the covers on the other side suddenly lifted, a cool breeze slipping in as the mattress dipped under another’s weight.
Xia Xingtang’s mind sharpened instantly.
But her body couldn’t react as quickly as her thoughts. A pair of slender, well-defined hands gently yet firmly pressed down on her shoulders.
She found herself gazing into a pair of deep, intense eyes.
Belatedly, Xia Xingtang realized what was happening. When it sank in, she wasn’t all that surprised.
She was pressed down, the soft light of the bedside lamp blocked, casting her entirely in shadow.
She let out a soft gasp, only to have her lips captured by a familiar, warm softness.
Outside, birds chirped incessantly; inside, tenderness lingered. Xia Xingtang’s lips were incredibly pliant, yielding easily to a gentle pressure.
Pei Luoqing’s kiss was deep, filled with the affection of a partner and the longing that had been suppressed for so long.
Lips met, breaths mingled. When their tongues entwined, a faint blush instantly colored Xia Xingtang’s eyes, and her drowsiness faded significantly.
Pei Luoqing held the dominant position, applying a bit more pressure with her hands as she tilted Xia Xingtang’s chin and kissed her again, leaving no room for escape.
A familiar scent enveloped them. Though Pei Luoqing’s lips and tongue were soft, her demeanor was one of unmistakable possession.
Had the lights been brighter, one could have seen the faint pink blush spreading across Xia Xingtang’s jade-white chest.
After what felt like an eternity, Xia Xingtang was finally released, nestled into a comfortable position as she drifted into a deep sleep.
This time, in her dreams, she saw Pei Luoqing.
She had been dragged by Yu Feifei to skip class, running into an auditorium where a graduation ceremony was taking place.
“Let’s go back. Professor Chen’s class is this afternoon. If you get caught skipping, you can kiss your grade goodbye.”
“It’s just an elective course, right? I hired someone to attend the classes for us.” Yu Feifei winked at her. “They’re two second-year seniors, and since Professor Chen isn’t teaching that course, even if they get called on, they can answer smoothly without giving us away.”
“Then why did you drag me here? Don’t tell me you want me to give Xia Qingyue a family graduation hug?”
Two girls walked past them, wearing bachelor’s gowns in the art school’s color scheme, chatting as they went: “How did your IELTS go? Will you pass this time?”
“Pretty good, I think so.”
“As expected of the department belle. But honestly, if you enter the entertainment industry right after graduation, your age is just perfect.”
“Everyone has their own ambitions.”
“Oh, right, your flight is on the same day as Pei Luoming’s, isn’t it? Next time we meet, will we have to give wedding gifts?”
“Ugh, you’re so annoying. Go find your Brother Yi.”
“Why are you blushing? Who was it that stayed up almost all night chatting on their phone last night?”
Their voices faded into the distance, and Xia Xingtang’s mood instantly soured. “She’s going abroad?”
“Pro-probably. Why don’t you go ask Senior Pei?”
“What’s there to ask? Didn’t you hear what the art department belle just said? They’re going abroad together.” She emphasized the word “together.”
Yu Feifei mysteriously reminded her, “Don’t listen to random gossip. Them going abroad together is probably just a coincidence. I’ve looked into it, that department belle confessed and got rejected. Our Senior Pei is too aloof for that.”
“Really…”
Before she could finish, Xia Xingtang’s shoulder was tapped. A group of boys in bachelor’s gowns started teasing one of them.
Xia Xingtang had skipped a grade, while Yu Feifei was admitted as an arts special student. By chance, they ended up as college classmates. Though both were young, they had already grown into their looks, and people often confessed to them when they stood together.
Xia Xingtang was a late bloomer when it came to romance and was quite inexperienced in handling such situations. She could only look at Yu Feifei in confusion.
Seeing this, Yu Feifei linked arms with Xia Xingtang and grinned brightly. “Sorry, senior, she’s my girlfriend. She’s not into your type, so don’t scare her.”
After the boys walked away regretfully, Xia Xingtang angrily kicked Yu Feifei.
But it wasn’t with much force, as her attention was already captured by the person on stage.
The surroundings had quieted down. Pei Luoming, as the student representative, stood at the center of the stage to deliver the opening speech.
Nearly all the seats were occupied, some by underclassmen from their university, others by students from neighboring schools who had come out of admiration. Xia Xingtang quickly pulled Yu Feifei down to sit, making their presence less conspicuous.
A clear, crisp voice reached her ears, filled with nostalgia for the past four years, gratitude for their alma mater, and hopes for the future.
Somehow, despite her usual aversion to long speeches, she found herself listening intently to every word.
When Pei Luoqing stepped off the stage, someone started cheering, and chaotic shouts soon filled the auditorium.
But all she could hear was the sound of her own heartbeat.
Perhaps it was the effect of hearing a graduate’s speech as a student still new to university life.
Xia Xingtang sat quietly again, waiting for Xia Qingyue’s speech as the School of Economics and Management representative. From her angle in the audience, she could capture a perfect shot of Xia Qingyue.
Xia Xingtang muttered under her breath, “Why didn’t I take a photo earlier?”
However, a phone was handed over beside her: “I’ll send it to you, no need to thank me.”
After the long speech ended, Xia Xingtang obediently waited at the entrance of the auditorium for Xia Qingyue, hoping to give her sister a warm hug. Yu Feifei, claiming she was thirsty, hurried off to the milk tea shop first.
As a result, she didn’t see her sister but instead bumped into Pei Luoqing, who was still wearing her graduation gown.
Though the gown was identical to everyone else’s, on Pei Luoqing, it carried a distinct style.
Out of politeness, Xia Xingtang greeted her: “Sister Pei.”
Pei Luoqing nodded, “Waiting for your sister?”
Xia Xingtang replied, “Yes.”
And then, silence fell.
There was a five-year age gap between her and Pei Luoqing, and they had no overlapping social circles. The only connection between them was Xia Qingyue.
Feeling awkward, Xia Xingtang struggled to make conversation: “Sister Pei, I haven’t congratulated you on your graduation yet.”
Pei Luoqing smiled, “Thank you.”
After that, silence returned.
Xia Xingtang licked her lips and forced herself to say, “Sister Pei, maybe I should go look for my sister? You must be busy, so I won’t disturb you any further.”
“Wait,” Pei Luoqing spoke up, pulling a small gift bag from her backpack. “I have something for you.”
Xia Xingtang glanced around, confirming no one else was nearby, and realized the words were directed at her.
She grew even more puzzled, “Is it something for me to pass on to my sister?”
“No, it’s for you. I originally planned to give it to your sister to pass on to you, but since I ran into you today, I can give it to you directly.”
Xia Xingtang was caught off guard when Pei Luoqing patted her head, and at the same time, the small paper bag was placed in her hand.
She looked down and saw an exquisite velvet box inside.
Opening it in front of Pei Luoqing, a wristwatch adorned with tiny diamonds caught her eye: “Sister Pei, what is this?”
When she looked up, she met Pei Luoqing’s smiling eyes, filled with warmth: “An early happy birthday to our little princess, Xia Xingtang.”
Xia Xingtang was taken aback, hesitating slightly: “But my birthday is still months away.”
“I know,” Pei Luoqing patted her head again and sighed, “But by then, I’ll already be abroad, so I can only give you your gift early.”
Hearing about Pei Luoqing’s plans to go abroad again, Xia Xingtang became flustered: “You… you’re going abroad? Why are you going abroad? Aren’t you supposed to go back to Yuncheng with my sister?”
As she asked this, the noisy entrance of the auditorium seemed to grow quiet, and Xia Xingtang focused entirely on Pei Luoqing’s answer.
Unfortunately, Pei Luoqing only smiled, dismissing her question as if to a child: “Alright, little ones don’t need to worry about grown-up matters.” Focus on your studies, and after your sister and I graduate, make sure you don’t get fooled too easily.”
In the dream, Xia Xingtang fixated on the first part of Pei Luoqing’s words, feeling somewhat dissatisfied with being treated like a child.
But her hand holding the gift bag tightened slightly, and an inexplicable unease settled in her heart.
Finally, she muttered quietly, “I’ll be an adult soon, I’ll grow up.”
“Okay.”
Later, Xia Qingyue found her and commented on the photos she had taken. By the time Xia Xingtang turned around, Pei Luoqing had already walked away.
The dream ended abruptly.
When she opened her eyes, the bedroom was still dim.
Only the diamond-studded watch on her wrist shimmered with faint starlight under the glow of the nightlight.
In her dream just now, she seemed to have received a similar watch.
Xia Xingtang smiled wryly. Was this a case of “longing by day, dreaming by night”?
