- Chapter 4 - An Inconceivable Scene
Xie Yuan felt a sudden warmth over his head, followed by a sudden blackout.
Subconsciously, he grabbed the soft, thick cloak to rescue his head from its confines, then looked back at Wen Shiqing.
However, he saw that the man had already summoned his renowned sword, Jingfeng.
The sword gleamed with a chilling brilliance. Clad entirely in white, Wen Shiqing stood atop the blade. As the soft moonlight cascaded over him, he looked as breathtaking as an immortal who had stepped out of a painting.
Xie Yuan could not help but daze for a moment.
In truth, back in the room the moment he saw Xie Xiao, he had speculated about Wen Shiqing with the darkest of intentions.
He took it for granted that this hypocritical man would immediately turn around and accuse Xie Yuan of seducing him, shifting all the blame onto his shoulders.
He had even prepared himself to be thrown back into hell once more.
Yet, Wen Shiqing did not do that.
He had even spoken up to defend him.
And, keeping his promise, he was taking him away.
Xie Yuan thought about this man’s identity. He was the youngest Daoist Lord of the Lower God Realm, the Peak Master of the Sword Peak of the Wentian Sect, whose mastery of the Jingfeng Sword Style was superb.
In the cultivation world, strength reigned supreme.
It could be said that his life, death, honor, and disgrace hung entirely on Wen Shiqing’s single whim.
For the other party to go through such great lengths to take him away, he must love that particular disciple beyond any remedy.
Yet, he did not even dare to speak it aloud.
How truly pathetic and laughable.
“Aren’t you leaving yet?”
Wen Shiqing’s cold, urging voice rang out.
Snapping out of his thoughts, Xie Yuan wrapped the cloak tightly around his body to shut out the howling cold wind. Raising a face plastered with a fake smile, he uttered a docile assent and walked toward Wen Shiqing.
The Hehuan Palace was not far from Mount Piao-miao, where the Wentian Sect was located. With Wen Shiqing’s cultivation realm, flying on his sword would take only half a day.
However, considering it was currently late at night and Xie Yuan had just gone through too many wretched ordeals and needed rest, Wen Shiqing did not head straight back to the Wentian Sect.
Instead, he flew his sword to the nearby Ling City, finding an inn to stop and rest for the night, planning to set off again tomorrow.
“Honored customers, how many rooms would the two of you like to open?” The waiter had been yawning, but the moment he saw Wen Shiqing’s face, his drowsiness vanished entirely.
His curious gaze drifted back and forth between Wen Shiqing and Xie Yuan’s faces.
Wen Shiqing had already concealed the spiritual energy around his body, but even so, his appearance and aura remained exceptionally striking.
Bringing along a young boy who was as beautiful as a girl beside him, it was hard not to let one’s mind wander down a skewed path.
After all, in this world, those who indulged in the passion of the cut sleeve were by no means fewer than those who preferred heterosexual love.
“Naturally, two…”
Before the word “rooms” could escape his mouth, Wen Shiqing heard System 00 say:
【Host, in the novel, you would force Xie Yuan to sleep in the same room as you. At the Wentian Sect, in front of others, you are the aloof, high-and-mighty Master. But at night, you frequently sneak into Xie Yuan’s bed to do this and that to him, all to vent your unrequited desires for the male protagonist.】
[…]
Wen Shiqing’s face nearly cracked.
00 reminded him once more:
【So, you must try your best to adhere to the character settings. Otherwise, if the Main System deems it a character collapse, you will lose your chance at resurrection.】
[…]
Wen Shiqing could only yield.
He replied to the waiter, “Just one premium room will do.”
Then, enduring the waiter’s probing and excited gaze, he led the silent Xie Yuan upstairs.
A cup of tea’s time later, inside the inn room, the two sat at the table, staring blankly at each other.
Xie Yuan held his teacup with a docile expression, waiting for Wen Shiqing to state his intentions.
The inn clearly had vacant rooms left, yet this man insisted on ordering only one.
Did he want to continue doing it with him?
As gloom surged in the depths of his eyes, Xie Yuan sneered inwardly.
He thought to himself that the words the other man spoke back at the Hehuan Palace were indeed complete bullshit.
Look at that.
How much time had even passed before he went back on his word?
“Take off your outer robe and lie down on the bed.”
Wen Shiqing finally spoke, his tone forceful and icy.
Xie Yuan gripped the teacup so hard his knuckles turned white, before he slowly relaxed his hold.
He then complied, submissively removing his outer robe, shoes, and socks, and lay down on the bed, bearing the exact posture of allowing Wen Shiqing to do whatever he pleased with him.
In his mind, however, he was already plotting that the moment Wen Shiqing pressed down on him, he would kiss him.
He would disgust him to death.
While frantically simulating how to disgust Wen Shiqing in his head, Xie Yuan heard approaching footsteps.
He could feel the man bending down, his warm breath brushing over him from above.
The next moment, however, a wave of warmth covered his body.
It was not a person; it felt like a quilt.
Xie Yuan opened both eyes, only to witness a scene that he would never forget for the rest of his life, a scene completely inconceivable.
This Peak Master of the Wentian Sect’s Sword Peak, this incredibly brilliant and talented Daoist Lord, was currently tucking in the corners of his blanket.
“…”
“What kind of look is that? Did you really think I would do something to you?”
While forcing himself to sneer through his teeth, Wen Shiqing meticulously tucked in all four corners of the quilt covering Xie Yuan, just as he used to take care of his younger brother.
“Your eyes merely look like his; you are not truly him. My sleeping in the same room as you is nothing more than a way to ease my yearning.”
“Go to sleep this instant, and stop letting your mind wander to ridiculous things. If you ruin your health from exhaustion, I will throw you away and find someone else who looks even more like him!”
00: 【Host, I am just going to quietly watch you put on a show.】
Wen Shiqing fabricated an excuse to the system: [I fully carried out the task of sleeping in the same room as him, and I even scolded him while treating him like a substitute. How is this putting on a show? This is clearly being a dedicated, hardworking employee.]
00 covered its face: 【…You certainly have the corporate workplace tactics completely figured out.】
Fortunately, the Main System did not judge Wen Shiqing’s actions as a character collapse.
The heart that hung in Wen Shiqing’s throat could finally settle back down.
Under Xie Yuan’s bewildered gaze, he stepped back, sat back down at the tea table, picked up his teacup, and continued to sip his half-cooled tea with an enigmatic air.
Quiet returned to the room once more.
After a moment, enduring a head full of question marks, Xie Yuan issued a cautious inquiry: “Master, aren’t you going to sleep?”
What answered him was Wen Shiqing’s ill-tempered, overbearing, CEO-style declaration: “I will not sleep with you. Just tend to your own sleep. Shut your mouth, close your eyes, and don’t make me repeat myself a second time.”
“…”
Xie Yuan could not fathom what on earth was going through Wen Shiqing’s head.
After guessing for a long time without an answer, and seeing that Wen Shiqing truly did not move again, his upper and lower eyelids began to fight uncontrollably.
After all, the various horrific events he experienced today had already completely drained his energy.
His mental state had reached its absolute limit.
Before falling asleep, countless ugly and malicious faces flashed through his chaotic and cluttered mind, but in the end, they faded away. All that remained was the fierce yet focused expression on Wen Shiqing’s face when he bent down to tuck in his blanket.
The youth unconsciously relaxed his brow, shrinking half of his face into the thick quilt.
He only felt that it was so warm.
It was truly so warm.
